Hey! Yeah. Hi. So obviously I haven't updatedd in a while and am thoroughly surprised that this story still has followers. But gee, thanks anyway! I bring forth the 9th chapter of Kagome in wonderland.
Also! I was thinking of fixing my spelling errors, etc. on my previous chapters...oh look at the time! (it's yaoi o' clock!) It's 1:54 in the morning. What is sleep? I was feeling strangely motivated to write and yeah. This happened.
Disclaim and on with the story!
Kagome felt like crying looking at the river of death, the river of bloodshed and injustice. These demons and humans some innocent and some naughty, it didn't matter. Bloodshed was bloodshed and it was all by one person: Kikyo.
Kagome trembled with anger; she had never felt so full of rage in her life.
"That bitch!" She whispered.
"That's why we need you, Kagome."
Kagome still didn't understand what was so special about her that made it so she was 'the chosen one'.
But, unjust or just, they still needed to cross that deadly river.
(Kouga's P.O.V)
Kouga watched Kagome stared blankly at the horrifying moat.
"K-Kouga? Could you put me down?" she wimpered.
Hesitantly, Kouga scooped her in his calloused hands and set her tenderly on the ground. Kagome made her way down to the moat pushing apart sparse blades of brown and yellowing grass.
Kouga stiffened. 'She is definitely mad if she is actually planning to cross that disusting river! I would have to be mad to let her try!' he thought. "What are you doing?" He growled.
"One way or another I am getting in that castle!" Kagome replied stubbornly, pushing apart grass although the amount of grass began to dwindle the closer she got to the moat.
Kouga tried to follow her forward, but the miasma from the moat made enflamed his skin and burned his longs. His stinging eyes were staring to water and his vision grew blurry. "K-Kagome..." He called out.
Kagome turned heel to look at him, her eyes contorted with concern. "Kouga? What's wrong?"
"The miasma is like acid for demons and humans!" Kouga hissed. Kagome blinked casually.
"Really? It doesn't bother me. If it's painful for you than you then why don't you stay behind? I'll go on."
If possible, Kouga stiffened more. "Why would you do something so stupid?!"
This time, it was Kagome's turn to stiffen. "Stupid? Is that what you think? I don't think you understand Koga, but I need to get in there!"
"Why?" He whispered so low that Kagome thought she might have misheard.
"Come again?"
"Why? For InuYasha? He chose to preserve your life for a reason, don't go gambling with your life!" Kouga growled.
Kagome turned slowly on her heel and spoke soft words to reassure him. "I owe him, if he dies because of me then I won't be able to live with myself." Kouga understood the feeling of guilt. He nodded at her tensely. She stared him dead in the eye and smirked despite her gruesome situation. With a mischivious glint in her soft brown eyes. "They won't catch me, I happen to be very elusive. I can do this, but I need you to believe in me."
Kouga's eyes widened. She needs me to believe in her? He stared into her liquid sapphire orbs. Wait- sapphire? Kouga shockingly stared at Kagome. She seemed to glow with her courage, her soft brown eyes becoming a confident blue hue. Kagome's brave actions made her radiate hope and he found himself trusting her easily. He untied the top hat from around his pelt and flung it over the cement wall seperating the moat and castle lawn.
"If you die, I'm going to kill InuYasha myself." He growled. He needed to get out of there. Her influence was so powerful that it made him feel powerless against her strong words and reassuring eyes. Before he turned heel and left, he could have sworn he saw her eyes fade back to their soft and friendly brown.
Not being able to stand under her watchful eyes, he turned heel and ran away, kicking up a whirlwind as he ran. 'I need to inform Queen Rin. Kagome will be there to greet her shortly!'
(Kagome's P.O.V.)
Kagome watched Kouga race away and turned heel to gaze upon the upcoming horrors she would have to face. Her stomach took a plummet, and suddenly she didn't feel so confident...
Kagome stumbled down to the moat of miasma and prayed to kamisama that she wouldn't trip and fall in. Luck wasn't entirely on her side. Kagome tripped and fell into the moat. She put her hands in front of her body, but realized the miasma would just dissolve her. 'No!' Her hands came into contact with the cold, scaly flesh of a dragon demon. After all luck wasn't entirely on her side. Entirely.
'Thank the gods above!' Although feeling revolted, Kagome was also feeling grateful for not dying. Kagome stumbled over disintergrated carcasses and severed heads occasionally having her hands or feet stuck in a mouth or eye. "Oops. So sorry!" She squeaked sincerely after having her foot planted in the mouth of some unfortunate demon head for the upteenth time. Kagome finally collapsed on the bank panting and taking in haggard breaths.
'This is no time to be laying about!' she mentally scolded. Kagome dragged herself to her feet and paced across the dirt. She was about to scale the huge wall that seperated the well-cared for castle grounds and the moat, before she spotted some cracks in the foundation of the walls. Taking advantage of her small height, she easily slipped through a crack.
Kagome wandered through the know increasing abundance of purely green grass until she found herself face to face with hedges. Something felt off. She quickly dropped on all fours and rolled aside just as something brown and spiky whizzed past her ear. She looked behind her to face a hedgehog, its limbs tied tightly together with rope.
Kagome curiously peered through the hole the flying hedgehog created when he smashed through the hedges. There she saw Kikyo, a woman with an abnormally large head that wore too much makeup holding a flamingo by its legs. 'Some strange imitation of Golf?'
Kagome figured that she might hae once been beautiful and tried to imagine her with a regular sized head and less makeup. Kagome's breath hitched in her throat. 'Would it not be for her head size, amount of overwhelming makeup and cold grey eyes, Kikyo would be my twin!'
"Page!" The Queen called impatiently.
Shippo hopped over to the Queen bowing low. "Y-Yes your majesty." Shippo padded to where Kagome was in time to see her untangle the ropes and set the poor hedgehog free. "Kagome!" he whispered in a panicked voice. "You shouldn't be here!"
"I know." she sighed. "But that's not my biggest problem right now." Kagome paused before asking: "Do you have any more of that cake that made me grow?"
"Hai." He whispered He pulled out a small cake and pushed it into her awaiting hands. "You might want to hurry."
"Arigato." Kagome began wolfing down the cake in earnest bites. "Not all of it!" Shippo hissed.
Shippo paled as the Queen came striding over to them, but by then Kagome was rapidly growing. She stopped growing at what she guessed was six feet, her body bigger, taller, and as uncomfortable as she had ever felt it.
Kikyo raised a brow questioningly. "And what..." she started "is this..?"
"N-not a 'what' your majesty. A 'who'!" Shippo explained uncertainly. "This is-"
"Akane." Kagome cut in. She chose the name specifically because it meant brilliant red. 'Hopefully, I can get on her good side!'
"Akane?"
"Yes your majesty, from Umbridge. I came here looking to join you." She paused thinking of a fake explanation to escape trouble. "You see, I've been growing an awful lot lately. In Umbridge, they laugh at me, so I came here thinking someone as fair as you would accept a misunderstood soul like me." 'I'll be damned if this works...'
Kikyo huffed haughtily. "Well thats true." She turned to the gathering audience of her royal court. "Go and get clothes. Use the curtains if you must, bus clothes for this enormous girl."
Kagome smiled her best fake smile. 'Aho!'
(InuYasha's pov)
I decided to spend the most of the day in that small room crafting hats and dresses to vent out my anger. It helped a lot more than I thought it would, and for a while I could forget where I was. I was in the middle of making a midnight blue traveling cloak with Kagome in mind. It was not like I was attached or anything, I was just savoring the thoughts of being free under the reign of "fluffy" and Queen Rin.
I began to stitch on the silver lace at the bottom when I heard a knock.
'Chikusho...probably Muso.' "I'm busy." I growled.
Despite my warnings, the person at the other side of the door only became impatient with my actions and entered anyways. The person closed the door behind them and paced towards me and sat down at a chair in front of my work table.
"Didn't I say I was busy?" I bit out harsher than before.
"Yeah, but like that would stop me."
My ears tweaked in respone to let her know I acknowledged her. I recognized the voice.
"Sango." I said, still not looking up from my work. I arched a brow.
"Before you ask your dumbass questions, I think it would be polite to explain my situation." Sango sighed running a hand through her tousled hair.
"Where is-"
"Miroku?" Damn wench cut me off. "I told him to escape to Queen Rin and inform him of my...ah...situation." She replied bitterly.
"Situation huh?"
"Somehow Kikyo got a hold of Kohaku's whereabouts and is using him as leverage for keeping me under her thumb." She sighed miserably.
"I'm sorry to hear that." I growled out. It pissed me off to think that Kikyo would use a child just to get to Sango. It pissed me off even more that someone betrayed us and gave out Kohaku's whereabouts.
Sango sighed miserably again. "The last thing I need is your pity. I would think you would be feeling the same if put in my place.
I frowned because I knew she was right. Leave it to this wench to go and say something smart.
Then there was another knock at my door. I looked up expectantly at Sango.
Her cat tail twitched in an irritable fashion. "Right..." She mumbled.
I could smell Ginta and Hakkaku standing in the doorway. "The Queen sent us to get you two."
"Why?" Sango asked clearly annoyed.
"She needs your services. And..."
"And?" I pressed. Something wasn't right. By know I had finished stitching the lace to the bottom of the cloak, and was beginning to embroider intricate star designs when I suddenly stoppped. I had a bad feeling about this.
"Well that you should see for yourself." Ginta gulped.
"Just remember to keep your composure." Hakkaku warned.
Keep my composure? What the fuck was going on here?
I sighed and nodded at Sango. We followed Ginta and Hakkaku to the throne room. I would be speechless at the next thing that I would see.
The brothers pushed open the double doors glancing uncertainly at one another.
I sauntered into the room angrily, with Sango at my heels, wondering what was going on when my breath hitched in my throat.
Kikyo looked over to the raven haired girl sitting next to her and then to Sango and I. "Oh yes..." she started. "Before I forget, I would like you to meet my new favorite."
Kagome rose gracefully from her plush cusion before bowing politely. Np doubt it was Kagome. She obviously looked the same from what I remembered, and I had impeccable memory. Aside from obvious differences like not being so dirty, being much taller, and wearing a black thigh-lengthed dress, she looked the same.
Then I saw her rise from her bow, her usually warm brown eyes flashed a stormy sapphire. Her liquid sapphire orbs met my molten gold ones before becoming brown again.
"Hello." She said nonchalantly. "My name is Akane."
So yeah I don't know when I will release my next chapter, but hopefully it will be soon. I've already started working on the next chapter!
