Chapter Three

Kagome didn't say anything as she was dragged into the direction of where she assumed as the direction Tanya's family was in.

As she glanced at the strawberry blonde beauty she couldn't shake the feeling of something different about her. She couldn't quite place what it was, but there was something.

"So where are you from?" Tanya asked, she had a curious look on her face as she slowly walked with the dark haired woman.

Kagome raised an eyebrow, "What do you mean exactly? Where was I born, or where do I currently live?"

Tanya smirked, "Both would be fine...or one or the other." She just wanted to get to know the beauty on her arm.

"I am originally from Japan. I came to live with my Aunt for a bit before going to school. I just finished getting my degree in History and ancient artefacts before I came to the wedding. I was going to school in Florida." Kagome didn't understand why this woman wanted to know about her,but she would amuse her for now. There was no harm in some small talk.

"That is an interesting degree to get" Tanya mused, looking at the blue eyed woman with a smile.

Kagome felt a smile come to her lips, "You aren't the first person to tell me that"

Tanya laughed, "I bet, it is interesting to see someone else to appreciates history though. You don't get that very often. What made you go into that field?"

Kagome gave a small grin, remember her travels to the past, "I used to live on a Shrine when in Japan. I grew up with Legends from the past and Historical artifacts were everywhere at the shrine. I guess that is how it started."

The most impact where her travels, it felt like she was closer to her friends when around artifacts from the past. That and she didn't have to be around a lot of people in her field, unless she decided to teach classes.

She didn't see herself doing that though. Kagome liked being around small groups of people, not big ones so teaching wouldn't be a comfortable atmosphere for her.

"A Shrine..." Tanya inquired, "That must have been fun growing up."

Kagome nodded, "It was, there was always something knew someone brought to the shrine. That and I learned a lot from my Grandpa who ran the Shrine."

Tanya nodded as she slowed her walk down to a stop, she gave her family a look as she saw them giving her looks.

She narrowed her eyes at them. They had better behave.

Kagome stopped beside Tanya as she was face to face with more gold eyed individuals, that she guessed was Tanya's family. She didn't say anything as Tanya introduced her, "This is Kagome, I offered for her to sit with us..."

Kagome gave a small smile to the other gold eyed strangers, "It's nice to meet you..." She saw a look of understanding flash through their eyes, but she didn't know why. She kept her smile in place as she looked at them.

"Its nice to meet you too. We don't really know anyone here so it's nice for someone to introduce themselves." a girl, she would guess about her age stepped out and grinned at her. She had bleach blonde hair, not the bottled stuff but natural blonde and was smiling at her like she knew something she didn't.

Kagome nodded, "People in this tend to stay away from the new..." She knew this from experience when she had came here to visit Charlie with her father when he was still alive.

Tanya smiled at her, "You know from experience?"

Kagome gave a small laugh at this, "Yes, I came to visit my Uncle when I was younger and the people in the town treated me like I was a leper. You get used to it..."

The blonde who greeted her earlier smirked, "We can handle them..." her grin turned into a smile as she looked at Kagome again, "My name is Kate, the other blonde is Irina...my sister. Tanya is the other sister...so treat her right" She gave Kagome a wink causing her to laugh, "And the old man is Eleazar and his wife Carmen."

"Old?" Eleazar scoffed, gold eyes holding humour as he looked at Kate, "I think you need to look in a mirror my dear."

Kagome barely held in a laugh at the outraged look on Kate's face at that comeback from Eleazar.

"I don't look a day over twenty thank you!"

Kagome laughed, this group of people may not have felt human but they were nice. She could get used to this atmosphere.
