Chapter 8: First Date

Carly's POV

I put on an ice blue dress that Alice had gotten just for me. I let Alice do my hair and makeup mostly because I knew that she would annoy me to death if I didn't. I love Alice, but she can be really annoying at times.

"There, all done!" she announced when she was done.

I looked at myself in the mirror. It didn't look like me at all. There was no way that the stranger in the mirror could be me. The blue dress looked beautiful. I had a baby bump that was just barely starting to show.

My hair and makeup were done perfectly.

"Wow, thanks Alice" I said.

"You look beautiful" she said.

"Well you're definitely good at this" I remarked.

"I've had lots and lots of practice with this sort of thing" she said.

"Well thank you Alice, I love it" I said.

She smiled. "Now go downstairs already, Anthony has been waiting rather impatiently for us to be done up here" she said. I couldn't help but laugh.

I quickly got up and went down there. I think it was just the nerves more then anything that made me move a lot faster then I normally would.

"About time" Anthony said looking a little on the impatient side.

He was also very nicely dressed in a nice dress shirt with dress pants.

"Wow Carly you look stunning" he said which made me blush.

"Thanks Anthony, you do to" I said.

"Just what time are you to planning on being home?" dad asked.

"Well actually we hadn't worked out a time that we'd be back yet. We were just going to see how things go" I answered.

"In that case I will set a curfew for you both. I want you both home by 10:30 and not a moment later. Is that understood?" dad asked.

"Yes" Anthony and I both reluctantly said at the same time.

"With that said, you two have a good time" dad said.

"Okay dad, we will" I said. Carlisle smiled at me happily when I called him dad. It made me feel a sense of happiness as well.

"Well let's go Anthony" I said eagerly.

With that we left. He took me to his car and like a true gentlemen he opened the car door for me.

"So where are we going?" I asked.

"Well I was thinking that we could go out to dinner and then maybe we could go down to the beach" he said.

"That sounds fun. Yeah, let's do that" I said.

"I can't believe that we have to be back by 10:30. Curfews should not be enforced when it comes to dating" he said.

"I agree with you completely. He's just looking out for us though, that's all. You know it's good to have someone who cares about you as much they do" I said. I was still getting used to the idea of being cared for so much by a parental figure. It just felt foreign to me, yet, I still loved it. I loved the feeling of love, safety, and security.

"You'll learn pretty quickly that they can be to overprotective sometimes, but yeah, it's nice to have a family like them" he said.

I looked at the time and it was already six o clock. That just gave us four and a half hours to do what we wanted to do.

We arrived at a TGI Friday's. It was already full so we had a 20 minute wait ahead of us. I was anxious though because this was eating into the little time that we had to be out.

"What's wrong Carly? Are you okay?" Anthony asked.

"I'm fine. I just wished that they'd hurry up. That's all" I said.

"Don't worry, it won't be that long" he said.

Sure enough, he was right. The wait was actually shorter then they had expected it to be. We took our seats and right away I felt more at ease.

"So Carly, I'm curious. What do you want to go to college?" he asked.

The truth was that I had never thought about that. I had never thought about my future. I had always been so focused on just living through each day that I never thought about what I would do when I was older.

I looked at him and I could tell that he was waiting for my answer. "I don't know yet. I haven't really thought about college or a career yet. What about you?" I asked.

"I want to go. Actually my whole family wants me to go to college. I just have a lot of responsibilities here so I don't know if that is going to be possible or not" he said.

What responsibilities? He's only 16. 16 year olds don't have a lot of responsibilities. I'm the one who's going to have responsibilities because of the baby. But him? He has nothing.

"What responsibilities?" I asked out of curiosity.

"Oh, uh, nothing" he said. I think he revealed a lot more then what he wanted to. It just made me all the more curious about him. What could he be hiding?

"Okay, enough about that. Let's talk about something else" I said.

"Okay" he was a little to willing to change the topic.

"How big do the wolves get around here? Do you know?" I asked, I still couldn't get the image of those oversized wolves I saw this morning out of my head.

Anthony almost choked on his soda when I asked him about that.

"I don't know, why do you ask?" he looked a bit nervous now.

"It's just that I saw some wolves this morning and they were huge. Probably about the size of a car or a wolf" I said.

"I don't know, I've never seen a wolf like that before" he said but I could tell that he was lying. Seriously, what was he keeping from me?

The waiter came to take our orders after that.

I decided not to ask him anymore questions about the wolves.

Instead we talked about a lot of other things.

Then I saw a few cops enter the restaurant. Which I didn't think was weird at first until they made there way over to where we were sitting.

When he looked at me I got very nervous. "Are you Carly Cullen?" he asked.

"Um yes" I said. "Why?" I asked.

"Are you the daughter of Peter and Charlotte Cullen?" he asked.

I flinched when said that name.

"Um yes, why?" I asked.

"Because your parents reported you missing earlier today. We put you on a missing persons list online and somebody in this restaurant recognized you and called us" he said.

I stood up.

"I'm not going back" I said.

"You don't have a choice young lady. Whatever problems you have with your parents can't be resolved by running away" he said.

"I'm not going back. You don't know what it was like-" He cut me off.

"I don't care. You're coming with me" he said, before grabbing my arm and pulling me towards the exit.

Just then Anthony got up and yelled "Let her go" before he struck him right across the face.

Immediately more officers had him on the floor. I immediately went and hit the one that was handling Anthony to roughly. Then one of the officers grabbed my hands so hard that I'm sure one of my wrists either broke or got twisted as he put them behind my back and put handcuffs on me. The guy that Anthony had hit now had a broken nose and his face was very badly bruised.

"You both are under arrest for assaulting police officers" one of them said. Then we were read our Miranda rights.

We didn't say another word as we were put in the back of the patrol car and taken to jail.

This had to be the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me in my life. Anthony was shaking so badly that I'm surprised he didn't explode.

"I can't believe that just happened" I said once we were thrown in a jail cell together.

"I know!" Anthony said angrily.

"What are we going to do?" I asked.

"I don't know. I'd call Carlisle and Esme but I don't know their phone numbers" he said.

"You don't know their phone numbers?!" I said.

"No, who memorizes phone numbers these days?" he said angrily.

We both spent the entire night. It wasn't until like 8am when another police officer came in.

"You two have been posted. We weren't able to contact Carlisle and Esme until an hour ago and they're here to pick you both up" he said.

"What about my parents?" I asked. "Why aren't they here?"

" We haven't been able to contact them and for now you're going with the ones who posted your bail. Carlisle and Esme have told us about how you were treated at your old home and we're going to investigate" he said.

I felt relived.

He led us to the front of the building where Carlisle and Esme were waiting for us.

They looked furious when they saw us. This was the first time ever that I was seriously scared of them

Oh hell we were both in for the punishment of a lifetime.
