Daryl's been crying all day. If he would have made Beth stay behind, none of this would have happened. Beth would be okay, but it's all his fault. He saw the way Carol was acting yet he didn't act on it enough. Now because of that choice, he could lose her. No one has seen Carol since the incident and if Daryl catches her...She best hope he doesn't. Beth was upstairs, but she lost so much blood no one is sure she's gonna make it. Daryl has faith, that she would make it, she would be okay. One thing Beth Greene wouldn't do is give up. She will fight until the end. Maggie has been with Beth all day, but Daryl couldn't even look at Maggie without feeling guilty. He wiped his face and let his face linger in his hands a moment. Turning to the side he looked down at Tay, she was so peaceful. She has had a rough night, waking up with night terrors. She had her head on Daryl's leg with her blanket pulled up to her face. Brushing the hair out of her face with his hand, he glanced at her. His heart hurt at the thought of losing her or Beth. He shifted the five year old so that she was snuggled against the couch. Daryl got up and walked out of the room. He needed a cigarette and some fresh air.

Daryl walked out into the dark cold night. Leaning on the post of the porch he pulled out his pack of cigarettes and pulled a cigarette out. Holding it between his lips, he lit it. Taking a few puffs before putting it out. He felt sick and he hasn't eaten since yesterday morning before Beth was hurt. Daryl turned to go back inside, there lay Maggie with Tay pulled against her. Both looked so exhausted and at ease. Daryl smiled before it faded away. He walked slowly up the stairs, pushing the door open he peered through his shaggy hair at the lifeless body of Beth Greene. Her face pale, her chest moving up and down slowly. Daryl stood still, like he was paralyzed by the sight of Beth like this. He closed his eyes tight, wanting this to all go away. Daryl stepped closer to Beth so he was now next to her bed. Reaching for her hand he intertwined their fingers. Her skin cold as ice, it was like when you touched snow when your hands were warm. To hold her hand in his was almost painful with how cold she was.

Daryl was never the one for words….Always keeping quiet, never saying how he felt. He chewed on this thumb as his other hand held onto Beth. His head hung low as he thought about what he was going to say. He felt responsible for her, for Hershel, If he wouldn't have let Beth go with him, if he wouldn't have given up on looking for the governor. Maybe none if this would have happened. Daryl blamed himself, for everything. "Beth please, don't die on me...I need you Greene. Tay needs you, we all need your faith and hope. Pull through this, I know you can because you are strong." Daryl fumbled on his words trying to keep his voice from cracking. You could hear the hurt and pain in his voice. Leaning forward he pressed a gentle kiss to Beth's lips. Her cold lips sent shivers down his spine, a tear fell from his eye and landed on her colorless cheeks. Reaching up he slide his finger across her cheek, wiping the tear dry. He couldn't stand not hearing her sweet voice, the only sound was the wind through the dark night. Her breathing was shallow, almost like it would stop any moment. "I love you Beth Greene." Daryl mumbled.

Daryl got up but he couldn't bring himself to walk out on her. He didn't want to leave her but he also didn't want to be here and see her in this state. He pulled his hand away watching as her hand fell limp by her side. Daryl walked to the door, his head hung low. He saw a shadow and glanced up seeing Tay standing there. He reached for her and she moved. Glaring at Daryl, he could tell the five year old was angry. "What's wrong Tay?" he asked. "You're just gonna walk out on her? You're just gonna leave her like that? Be there for her. SHE WILL MAKE IT." Tay hissed. She was right, he shouldn't be walking away. ""You are suppose to help her daddy...I mean Daryl." Tay spat. Daryl froze at that word 'daddy', he never thought he would hear that word. He knew it was because Tay was mad. Tears streamed down the little girls face. Daryl felt bad, he wanted to pick her up and hug her, wipe her tears from her face. Daryl crouched down to the little blonde holding into her shoulders. "Tay...Beth lost a lot of blood and she is fighting for her life...Not everything can always be okay…" Daryl's voice trailed off. Tay pulled away from Daryl, sobbing. "LET ME GO. YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO HAVE FAITH." Tay shouted before turning and running out of the room.

Daryl slumped against the cold wall. He's not sure what he believed in anymore. His head pounded, like someone was beating a rock against his skull. Daryl sat in the dark room, alone, a slave to his own thoughts. The only sound was the shallow breathing of Beth Greene. His emotions overwhelmed him and he couldn't keep it together any longer, he let the tears fall. He hasn't cried this hard since he found Merle a walker some months ago. Slowly he was losing everyone he's ever loved. Merle, Hershel, Carol...Even though Carol wasn't dead he still lost her. Beth was one person that he couldn't bare to lose.."Come on Greene, wake up." Daryl grumbled, his voice rising, he was getting angry with everything. Why couldn't she just wake up? Minutes passed or maybe hours, he didn't know. His body was aching, he was so tired. Daryl got up and walked to the door, he turned and looked at Beth through hooded eyes. He stood there at the door, watching Beth, arms crossed over his chest. He was dozing and decided to move to a chair, he didn't want to leave her alone. His eyes were heavy, like his heart. He closed his eyes, images of Beth flashing through his mind. Her bright smile sparkled just like her baby blue doe eyes.

Beth fought to open her eyes, they felt like bricks were attached to her eyes lids. Fighting to keep them closed but wanting them to open. Finally getting enough strength her eyes fluttered open. She glanced around the dim lit room and her eyes landed on Daryl. He was asleep on the chair next to her bed. He looked so untroubled, like no worries invaded his mind. Trying to find her voice but her mouth was dry. She moved rather quickly and winced as pain shot through her body. Daryl woke from her gasp. "Beth?" Daryl yawned. "Yeah, it's me." She replied her voice hoarse. Daryl grabbed a glass of water and scooted closer to her giving her the glass. Beth gulped the water down very quickly, the water only quenching her thirst. She set the glass down on the tabled and pulled Daryl to her. She took in his tired eyes and placed her forehead against his. "Join me in bed." she giggled out. Daryl hesitant at first with her body being sore and he didn't want to accidentally bump where she was shot. He climbed in the bed and brought the covers around them. He wrapped his arm around her stomach and nuzzled her neck. "Don't ever leave me Greene." He murmured into her ear. "I won't Dixon." She smiled lazily up at him.
