It is of common sense to everyone what dinosaurs are. They are reptiles, large beasts with scaly hides and a brain the size of a pea. They tower easily over regular humans and easily skyscrapers as well. They were the kings of their time, dominating the land, sky and sea. No one dared to cross their path, for those that did rarely make it out alive.
But that was all 65 million years ago.
It was the year 1994, near the end of the 20th century. Let us be reminded that the science of that time has yet to be so advanced as to resurrect fossils and the dead (Save for magi specialized in necromancy, but the public does not need to know that). It would make perfect sense for no such reptiles to be running amok in the streets.
So it was totally logical for people to scream, run and hide when they saw one running around like a headless chicken.
The red-dinosaur of a servant was currently darting in and out of the bushes, occasionally popping out between some love making couple and scaring them shitless. Every now and then, it would turn around, looking around frantically for its pursuer before taking off again. This cycle repeated itself for about 15 minutes before the said servant ran out of breath and took shelter between in a dark alley. He had finally managed to outrun its pursuer and you could bet that he was tired.
"Where is Guilmon?" the servant muttered aloud, not realizing he was speaking in third-person. Or rather it was the way he spoke after all.
"Guilmon don't recognize this place. Guilmon is hungry. Guilmon needs food." Guilmon rubbed his growling stomach with his claws, trying his best to appease his stomach. Even though Servants were spiritual beings that had no need for food or sleep, Guilmon could be said to be a special case. He was not summoned by the Grail exactly, so the laws of human nature still applied to him nonetheless.
Then, an all-to-familiar scent wafted through the air. It was the smell of hopes and dreams. The first ever food that Guilmon had ever tasted when he first arrived in the human world. The first bond he forged over with his tamer.
It is the almighty, awe inspiring, appetite-wheating, stomach appeasing scent of the hamburger.
"Burgers," Guilmon let his saliva drool freely as he recalled the taste and texture of burgers. At this point, his body was more-or-less on autopilot with his nose as a guide. Soon enough, he wandered "aimlessly" into a burger shop. There were screams for help, half a dozen customers including the shop owner running out of the shop, sounds of searching and then after a minute of silence, a massive series of burps that followed in quick succession.
"Aaaaah, that hits the spot!" Guilmon stroked his oversized belly as he lay on a pile of burger wrappers. After all that time spent in the Grail, nothing beats having your favorite meal again. Then, the all familiar sounds of sirens hit the air.
"Time for Guilmon to go!" Guilmon got up instantly and made his escape, taking a dozen burgers with him as he did. "Om nom nom, om nom nom! Guilmon thinks burgers are still the best!"
Later on, the shopkeeper had a hell of a time explaining to the officers about how a red dinosaur barged into her shop and ate a month's supply of burgers. Unfortunately for her, the cops just stared and charged her with illegal digging on public property (guess whose fault was that).
Well, sucks to be her then.
Other side of Fuyuki, near the forest
While one irregular servant went out for a meal, the other was out hunting a dragon. To be more precise, a dinosaur. After all, that is within the job scope of a knight, to hunt and slay mystical beasts, evil or not.
The knight servant was currently on such a quest, having received orders from above. Strangely enough, it did not remember who issued them. It was just simply told to kill a servant and get rid of any other interference. To do that, it was given life by the Grail and a class to top that off.
Avenger, the eighth servant of the war, not counting his target.
Avenger had no memory of who he was, why he had no body or why he could not speak for the matter of fact. He only knew that he had orders to follow.
For now that was his purpose of existence. Maybe if he completed if job, everything would become clear about his existence and all.
Deciding that this was the best course of action for now, Avenger began to search for his target. As he closed his eyes, streaks and blobs of red energy filled his vision. Such was the ability of his Noble Phantasm, Scarlet Vision. Avenger could exchange his vision for prana flow whenever he closed his eyes. This made it easier for him to identify Servants and Masters amongst other objects, effectively speeding up the hunt.
According to logic, Avenger deduced that the Servant he was after would most definitely seek out a Master first to have his form stabilized in this world. So he decided to start scanning for any available ones. The red thick streaks flowing below him indicated the leylines of Fuyuki city whereas each blob represented a servant. The slightly kindling flames were the representations of potential Masters. As of where he was now, there were currently two such flames in the direction he was headed, coupled for by the fact that there was a red blob in close proximity to them. Without a doubt, that was his target, having already found a Master and was currently seeking shelter.
Well not for long.
As Avenger opened his eyes, he was greeted by a bright flash of lights. Instantly he assumed a fighting stance.
Was he under attack?
No, it was just the flashes of cameras going off by curious bystanders. The excited little bastards were currently snapping away with their cameras at Avenger. It was not every day they got to see a cosplayer standing in the middle of the street. If anything, Avenger's battle stance only made them even more in awe and excited.
"Foolish humans," Avenger thought to himself, "they shall now suffer a fate they brought upon themselves." Avenger then held his blade in a reverse grip and slammed it deep into the earth. A crimson light flashed from the ore in the center of the blade, engulfing the curious humans that surrounded him.
As the red light touched their bodies, it instantly severed the link between their bodies and souls. As the first 5 or so crumpled to their knees motionless, the rest of the bystanders made a break for it. There were screams of pain and agony as they tried to escape but to no avail as the light swept through each and every one of them. As the light died down, about all twenty of them were down on the floor, convulsing as their consciousness began to leave them. Very soon they were all just empty husks, drained off their life energy. When they finally stopped, their bodies began to rupture as they underwent transformation. Their bodies seemed to grow in size slightly and became more hunched. Scales began to replace their skin and they each sprouted a long tail. Their hand and legs were now replaced with sharp claws, four on each hand and three on each foot. Lastly, their faces began to grow longer, resembling that of a lizard's, complete with serrated rows of teeth. Their eyes were now crimson red, clouded with madness that Avenger had imbued them with.
"Rise my servants," Avengers commanded through a mental link. Instantly, all the lizardmen turned to face him, kneeling on one knee as a form of respect. They had lost all sense of identity, each and every one looking the same. Their souls robbed from them, they were now just mindless creatures, waiting to do Avenger's bidding.
Avenger now gazed at his newly formed minions. They were all battle-hungry and he had cleared up all witnesses to his existence. Two birds with one stone. They would make perfect tools for his hunt.
After all, you always send the dogs in first.
With that, Avenger and his entourage went on their way towards a certain castle, ready for the kill. Little did they know that their target was actually on the other side of Fuyuki City. And that small lack of information would inevitably lead to a clash, knight vs knight.
Einzbern Manor
"Let us review what we know of the other servants," Kiritsugu said as he scattered half a dozen photographs across the dining table. On the other end sat Irisviel with Saber standing next to her. On Kiritsugu's end, Maiya propped herself against a wall and listened intently as well. This was a vital part in their strategy to win the Grail as it involved the abilities of their rivals.
"First, let us start off with Lancer," Kiritsugu pointed at a picture of the pale servant. "He seems to have iron clad skin and is able to move quickly in bursts of speed that can rival that of Prana Burst. Also, judging by the hole in his sternum, I would say that his durability is far beyond that on human capabilities."
At this Saber shuddered, slightly as she remembered the gaping wound that Lancer had but the pale servant did not seem impeded by it at all or for a better term, could not think more about it. He was a monster, no doubt to be able to fight with such skill despite such a grievous injury.
"This," continued Kiritsugu as he pointed to Lancer's javelin "is most likely his Noble Phantasm. From what we have gathered, it channels thin streams of prana through it when swung, creating explosions and extending his reach. As of now, neither Iri nor I have been able to discern his identity." He then held out another photo, one which Irisviel had to stifle a laugh. It was picture of Kayneth Archibald with a terrified face as he fell ungracefully from the crane. "His master is Lord Ell Melloi, a head teacher at the Clock tower. For now it is safe to assume that he already has a base of operations somewhere which we would find out in due time."
"Next up is Rider," Kiritsugu mentioned as he took out a picture of the Samurai. "He has already mentioned that his name is Date Masamune."
"Luckily for us, this name does ring some bells for us." Maiya added as she held out some documents. "The One-Eyed dragon of the West. According to history records, he was a warlord during the warring states of Japan but they did not say anything about him being able to wield six swords simultaneously."
"If anything, his Noble Phantasm worries me more than that of Lancer's. According to him, his Noble Phantasm allows him to raise his strength stat by one for each katana he wields. This could spell very bad news for us. Luckily, his Master, Waver Velvet, would be the easiest to eliminate due to him being an inexperienced magus. Next up is Archer," Kiritsugu then pointed towards the yellow haired school girl. "Archer is able to summon different forms of guns from thin air as seen during her battle with Assassin, each capable of firing a different form of ammunition. Her master, Tokiomi Tohsaka is safe behind the bounded fields of his mansion and can be presumed to be staying there till the war ends."
"Then we have Berserker. From what we gathered, it seems that his arm is his Noble Phantasm, being able to change shape and all." Maiya added on in which Kiritsugu nodded in agreement. "Despite being Berserker, this one seems clear and lucid enough to ask and identify who Archer is before attacking. An interesting case. His Master is Kariya Matou, someone who we have no leads on due to him being absent from the Matou Manor and his apartment. He will be difficult to track down. Then there's Assassin. His Noble Phantasm allows him to teleport almost instantaneously between spaces which is probably the reason why he survived Archer's attack. However, it isn't foolproof as seen from Rider dragging him out from the dimension. His master, Kirei Kotomine, is currently seeking refuge under the Church due to Assassin's exaggerated death. Our only option to get him is when he leaves the Church, otherwise we have to wait."
"What about Caster," Saber demanded.
"As of now, it is in our best interest to leave Caster alone. The amount of mana he contains is on a level that even you cannot compare to. Not only that, he seems to have additional subordinates that are able to fight on the level of servants as well as possessing high regenerative abilities. For now, our plan would be to go after any servants that are planning to attack Caster. If I am right, the church would probably issue a reward for dealing with Caster, something that we cannot allow other Masters to obtain."
Saber gritted her teeth as she clenched her fists. "Master, just how low will you steep?" Saber roared her face full of indignation.
Kiritsugu calmly ignored her and continued to pack the photographs on the table.
"How long do you intend to mock us Heroic Spirits? Why won't you let me fight?" Saber ranted but the Magus Killer retained his poker-face.
"You are nothing more than a ghost of the past, anchored to the world by my Prana. You do not have a say in this." Kiritsugu replied without having raised his head.
"You…" Saber was about to rebut when Irisviel suddenly felt her mind lurch, causing her to nearly fall in which the Servant of the Sword supported her.
"Iri, what's wrong?" Kiritsugu asked with concern as he turned to face his wife.
"Someone has breached the bounded field in the forest and is headed here right now," Irisviel painfully whispered and as though on cue, a loud explosion could be heard from the lower floors.
Saber's eyes widened. "This sense of blood thirst and ominous mana. Without a doubt, it's Caster!"
Downstairs
Amidst the rubble of the ruined mansion, Caster rode in on a carpet of shadows. Beside him was a black Doberman with crimson eyes that was constantly sniffing the air, as if trying to find something.
"I'm guessing second floor, third door from the right." The dog looked up and all things, spoke to Caster.
"I'm guessing that I'll have to count on you then, since that idiot is currently being my Master's chew toy, Envy." Caster remarked and as if on cue, the dog began to transform. Legs became limbs as the dog began to stand upright, red lightning coursing along its body to remove the disguise. In its place stood a pale-skinned androgynous youth with a lean muscular build and bulging biceps. He had long, wispy hair and violet-pupiled slitted eyes. For clothes a black form-fitting bodysuit with a matching headband, which had a triangular symbol on it.
"Well, guess you have to settle for second best for now." Envy snickered. "So which ones can I kill, Pride?"
"All, except the Servant and the white haired woman. I would like to test my abilities against her before ripping her to shreds. As for the woman, a ton of questions to be answered."
"Roger that. The last thing I want is to end up like Gluttony. Betcha the poor boy is crying for Lust again," Envy mocked, mimicking Gluttony's face as he balled for the other homunculus to help him.
"Stop that. If you do as I say, you won't end up like him." Caster sighed. "Now get going."
"Aye, aye Captain!" Envy chuckled before walking off in a different direction.
"Well then," Caster thought as he soon as he was alone. "Time to get to business."
All around him, the shadows smiled as they awaited their next meal.
Upstairs
"Well it seems that you got your wish Saber," Kiritsugu replied sarcastically as he checked the Calico in his hands, making sure that it was loaded and operational.
Saber only scowled at that, though a part of her really wished that she had not opened her big mouth. Two fights in a single night is definitely not the ideal situation.
"Get Irisviel out of here. Leave Caster to me." Saber spoke with conviction, to which Kiritsugu nodded in agreement. With that, Kiritsugu left the room with Irisviel in tow, having Maiya to cover the rear. Just as they left, Irisviel looked over her shoulder. "Saber, please stay safe!"
Saber nodded slightly and had only enough time to summon her armor when she heard a soft sound as though the air was being cut.
Then before her mind could register anything, the floor beneath her collapsed.
Downstairs
Saber coughed as she swept the rubble and dust off of her. Through the dust cloud, she caught the faint movement of something black and immediately raised her sword to guard. Almost instantly, a shadow blade lunged for her, aimed straight for her neck and would have decapitated her if not for her swift reflex.
"Good evening, Saber," Caster greeted as he bowed, retracting his shadows as he did so. Despite so, Saber still held her sword at ready, not willing to let her guard down after the episode with Lancer.
"Why have you come Caster and how do you know our location?" Saber demanded.
Caster let out a small smile. "Well, I was told by one of my brothers about a certain women having the same scent as us, thus I have come to investigate."
Saber immediately put two and two together and realized who he was referring to. "I won't let you near Irisviel, you fiend!"
"What a pity, I was really hoping that you could just let me do so. After all, I just wanted some answers though she may lose a limb or two in the process." Caster sighed.
"Silence!" Saber roared. "Leave now Caster or the one losing limbs would be you." She said with steel in her voice.
"Alright then, no need to get your panties in a twist. How about we play a game then, something you humans are so fond of." Caster gestured as he made the offering.
"A game?" Saber's eyebrows raised slightly in curiosity. What in God's name is he playing now?
"Yes indeed, a game." Caster smirked as he folded his hands into his pockets. "If you can get within five feet of me by the time the clock strikes 12, I will leave without a fight. If not…"
"If not what?"
"You will bring me the woman and be buried six feet under." Caster finished.
Despite the threat, Saber could not help but smile. One that was devoid of any emotion.
"Oh really, Caster." Saber stated coldly. "I hoped that you have prepared a funeral for yourself, because I am not going to lose."
That statement only made Caster grin even wider. "Shall we dance, Servant of the Sword?"
"Let's do it." Saber then charged headlong towards Caster who responded with shadows emerging from beneath his feet. The shadows were like homing weapons, all of them careening towards Saber. Saber nimbly dodged as each of them buried themselves within the earth and deflected the others. As she managed to get close enough to strike Caster, shadows blades erupted from the rubble, cutting her short in her tracks. A third shadow blade then appeared right beneath her, lunging forward at lightning speed. Saber mentally cursed as she moved her head to the side, such that it only nicked her left cheek. However as she did so, two other shadow blades emerged from the walls, forcing her to take a defensive stance as they aimed for her knees. She brought her sword before her, just quick enough to intercept. Saber grunted as she felt the force behind the blades. Never in her life was she going to treat shadows the same again.
Saber darted to the right and avoided another two shadow blades aimed at her head. However as she did so, a third came in from the right. Saber's eyes widened as she felt it tear through her side, blooding spreading at where the wound was. She bit her tongue to prevent herself from crying out before cutting off the imposing weapon. Grunting, she held her hand to the wound. Thankfully it was not too deep but she still needed to support herself against the wall. The place she was fighting in was way too cramp, she thought. Caster's shadows had a wide range as compared to her sword, meaning that it would be easy for him to just creep up and set a trap and…
"Wait, a trap?" Saber stopped her chain of thoughts at that. Instantly she recalled Kiritsugu's explanation of the castle's layout, the areas where if-you-walk-into-you-get-blown-to-bits. And she was just right in the one of them. She allowed herself a small smirk when she spied one of the near invisible wires just in front of Caster.
"Perfect," she thought. Time to have Caster take the bait.
Using Prana Burst, she leapt above Caster and aimed a decapitating slice at his head from mid-air. Caster responded immediately, sending his shadows vertically upwards. Saber slashed at them instead, saving Caster. One of them though slashed the tendon in her left foot causing her to curse weakly but she had reached her objective. She landed directly in front of Caster whose eyes widened slightly due to the close range. No matter how powerful he was, Caster still wanted to keep his distance from Saber. Instinctively, he moved back slightly and felt something at his ankles snap.
"Aw shit," Caster drawled before the walls around him exploded and sprayed him full of shrapnel.
"Did that get him?" Saber hoped that it did some damage to him at the very least but that hope was squashed like a bug the moment she saw red lightning coursing around him.
In an instant, Caster's wounds were all patched up and the shrapnel littered the floor. Caster looked just like he had just woken up and was currently stretching himself. "Well, not bad for a plan," Caster commented "If I was a lesser servant I may have been riddled full of holes."
Cursing, Saber leapt back in an attempt to gain some distance between her and Caster but Caster was not going to just let that slide. The second her feet left the ground, shadow blades chased after her, fully intending on skewering her. "Shit!" Saber cursed. Once again, she was vulnerable in midair but her battle with lancer had taught her a thing or two how to react in these situations. "Strike Air!" she called out as she slashed her sword horizontally. A concentrated blast of air tore apart the shadows, dispersing them and allowing her to land safely. However her safety was short lived as a shadow blade curved in and slammed her in the chest, causing her to fly into one of the walls. Saber recovered almost immediately, using Prana Burst to rush Caster again. The servant of magic just stood still, bringing forth more shadows and sending them flying towards Saber. Saber tumbled on the floor to avoid any grievous wounds though the blades did slice her across her back but she still continued to push forth. As soon as she was clear of the barrage, she raised her sword for a diagonal slash but as she brought it down, four blades emerged to block it, just inches away from Caster's face.
"Damn!" Saber thought to herself. Of course Caster wouldn't pull off such a stunt if he wasn't confident of winning. At this rate she was getting nowhere. She was risking skewered to get close to Caster, only to find herself being countered by his shadow blades. To top that off, it seemed that they could come from anywhere that produced a shadow. This was very troublesome indeed.
"What's wrong Saber? Getting tired?" Caster stifled a yawn as he stretched himself, all the while his shadows still striking out ferociously. "At this rate I would be bored to death rather than you killing me."
"Tsk," Saber growled as she avoided another of Caster's attacks. She had to hurry. Her time was going to be up soon.
"I don't want to use my trump card so early but Caster is leaving me with no choice. I have to defeat him now to save Irisviel."
With that thought in mind, Saber allowed herself to relax much to the surprise of Caster. She then drew in a deep breath as she prepared her ace.
Release the Wind King
That instant, the air around the two Servants suddenly began to howl, growing in strength as each moment passed. Caster had to strain himself to prevent himself from being blown away, using some of the shadows as anchors to the ground. A hurricane seemed to erupt from Saber's sword, parting apart slowly to reveal a golden blade. This was her pride as a heroic spirit, the symbol that all heroes idolized, past present and future. The Sword of Promised Victory, the legendary sword of King Arthur, Excalibur. Caster's smile began to fall as he recognized the holiest of swords and he almost felt obliged to kneel just before the sight of it.
"So, you were hiding something like this the whole time eh, Saber?" Caster chuckled softly as he gazed upon the golden blade.
Saber's face now radiated confidence and determination. Slowly she opened her eyes, levelling her blade towards Caster. In those pupils of hers was stone-cold conviction, like a executor about to kill a death convict.
"Shall we pick off where we left off, Servant of Magic?"
In the woods
Kiritsugu, Maiya and Irisviel were currently fleeing the castle and headed towards the edge of the woods. Behind them, the sounds of battle echoed out.
"How did Caster find us?" Irisviel asked as she stopped to catch her breath, pressing against a tree as she did so.
"I don't know?" Kiritsugu replied honestly. "I'm guessing that he had his familiars follow us back."
"Nah, wrong answer." Came a voice, causing the trio to look around.
"Whose there? Show yourself!" Maiya demanded as she aimed her handgun while Kiritsugu did the same with his Calico. Irisviel had her back against the tree, scanning for the source of the voice.
Only that that wasn't a tree.
No sooner did she do so, an arm wrapped around and held her in a choke grip. "Iri!" Kiritsugu cried out as he and Maiya watched the tree transform. In its place was an androgynous man, holding Irisviel in a vice grip.
"Surprise mother fucker!" Envy declared with a smug grin on his face. "I'll be taking the women with me for now. Pride wants to talk to her."
"Let Iri go!" Kiritsugu demanded but Envy just shrugged.
"Make me."
"I will," Maiya then came up from behind the homunculus. Faster than he could turn, she slashed his arm off with a combat knife, freeing Irisviel.
"Arrrrgghh! You bitch! That hurt!" Envy screamed in pain but even that was cut short when Kiritsugu opened fire with his Calico, riddling Envy full of bullet holes.
"Now you've really pissed me off!" growled Envy as he felt his regeneration kick in. All three humans watched in morbid fascination as his arm grew out from nothingness, bones then muscles and skin. The bullet holes in him closed equally as quickly, making him as good as new.
"What?" Kiritsugu thought to himself as he recalled the other unidentified being at the docks having the same ability. Caster's servants were indeed formidable or at the very least durable.
"My turn," Envy then launched his fist which seemed to extend way beyond human means. It smashed into Kiritsugu square in the chest, causing the Master to cough up blood as he collided into a tree. However, Kiritsugu felt something was amiss. Sure, he felt the pain and all but the instant the fist hit him, he felt a sinister presence enter his mind for a second before leaving completely. Unknown to him, the second that presence left, a minute grin grew on Envy's face.
"Kiritsugu!" both females cried out with Maiya leading the charge with a silenced pistol, firing as she ran towards Envy. The homunculus lifted his other hand which was now gleaming silver and deflected the rounds. In a swift motion, he grabbed Maiya's wrist and crushed it, both hand and gun. Maiya cried out in pain but still swung her other hand which held her combat knife. Envy just smirked at that futile attempt. He simply sidestepped, allowing her swing to miss and planted his fist into her back, hammering her into the ground.
"Gaah!" Maiya cried out as she felt something break and the earth crumble beneath the blow. She could not move her body at all, leaving her defenseless. Envy raised his leg to squash her head but ducked when a metal falcon streaked past his head, almost tearing his eyes out. Grunting, Envy turned and realized that Irisviel was the one controlling it.
"Shape Ist Leben!" Irisviel called out as she aimed the falcon again at Envy. He just clicked his tongue in annoyance as he swatted the falcon away, more annoyed than threatened by the wire creature. Indeed he was annoyed. Pride had asked specifically not to harm the woman but she was really starting to bug him, both her and her husband…
Wait, thought Envy as he realized someone was missing. Kiritsugu's body was long gone from where Envy had pounded him. Even the woman he had crushed was gone from her original position. A quick glance revealed Kiritsugu to be laying an injured Maiya on the ground some distance away.
"Damn! That woman was a distraction!" Envy growled out in anger. Kiritsugu did not waste any time and immediately attacked Envy again. "Time Alter: Double Accel" He then fired the Calico at twice the speed while rushing towards Envy again. Envy rose up both his arms again, shielding himself from the spray of gunfire but that left him temporarily blind for a few seconds. That was all the time Kiritsugu needed to deliver an axe kick to the side of his head, sending him flying in the opposite direction. However Kiritsugu did not let up, hurling two grenades in after his body.
Let it be known that these weren't ordinary grenades. They were World War 2 stick olives. Their cylinder like shape made it easy to be thrown and was widely used by the German infantry. However what made these grenades so widely feared was not the vast amounts of them or their easy usage. It was their capacity to deliver a big bang.
As soon as Envy's body hit the grenades, a fiery explosion consumed the forest. Kiritsugu who had been standing too close to the blast was hit by the shockwave and knocked back, far away from Irisviel and Maiya.
"Kiritsugu!" Irisviel called out but due to the raging fire and smoke, she could not make out where Kiritsugu was. Right now, her priority was to heal Maiya. Kiritsugu would be fine on his own for a while.
Meanwhile, Kiritsugu was busy picking himself up. That blast had left him way too disoriented, causing him to wander in the opposite direction, further away from the two women. So dizzy was he that he failed to check whether Envy's body was still there.
As Kiritsugu walked further, he soon came to a clearing in the woods. In the middle of it was a small figure sitting there, back faced against Kiritsugu. Kiritsugu immediately kept his guard up, aiming his Calico at the figure as he walked closer. However he had a sense of déjà vu somewhere. Just something about that figure seemed so familiar. As he walked closer, the more moonlight shone on the figure, giving him a better look. But as he did, his guard dropped completely.
"It's not possible," he breathed slowly. That light blue dress, that black-colored hair and that chocolate-colored skin. It was all too familiar. Throughout his life the Magus Killer had met thousands of people, most of them he had long forgotten. However, there was that one face that he would never forget.
She was the one he had first befriended on Alimango Island.
She was the one that he treated with respect and care.
She was the reason for pursing his notion of a "hero of justice".
Most importantly, she was his first love.
"Shirley…"
As if on cue the figure turned, her onyx eyes and smile etched on her face staring back at Kiritsugu, just like when he last remembered her when they were alone under the moonlight.
"Hi there, Kerry."
With Saber
"This ends now Caster," Saber declared. Prana in the form of golden wisps seeped through the earth and through the air, congregating within the holiest of blades. Golden light began to surround it, bathing the surroundings as an angel's descent from heaven would. With each second, that light grew brighter and the prana within it more condensed, something that Caster had noticed as well.
However, the servant just stood there mesmerized, his guard dropped completely. The shadows began to disperse and detach themselves from Caster's feet, an indication on the end that was near. Caster did not run nor hide, but just stood there with a smile on his face.
One that was full of admiration.
"Very well Saber," Caster muttered softly. "Since you are willing to go to this extent, as a form of respect I would do the same." With that, two streaks of darkness began to coat his hands, turning them as pitched black as the night sky. The movement did not go unnoticed by Saber but Caster had made no indication of doing anything, his hands still hanging by his sides.
"Goodbye Caster," she thought silently. Gracefully, she stepped forward, firming her stance. Her arms drawn back and poised to strike. At this point, the light around the blade erupted, its maximum power reached. She then brought the blade down, like God passing judgment on a sinner.
"EX-CALIBUR!" The holy blade of promised victory descended its overwhelming power fully intent on destroying Caster. Even in the face of death, Caster still smiled. The blade inched closer. And closer, now barely millimeters from him.
And then he moved.
Faster than Saber could follow, he moved his arms and caught Excalibur. The darkness on his hands became thick and ominous while streaks of red lightning erupted all over them. The pure power was causing his body to be destroyed despite having caught the blade. His hands were simultaneously being destroyed and recreated at the same time. His could feel one of his stones slowly being drained of all its energy.
"Damn, I didn't expect it to take this much effort!" Caster thought angrily. Despite him triggering his Noble Phantasm, he did not take into calculation that the power was way beyond his ability to contain. However, he slowly felt the energies within the sword beginning to lessen. Slowly but surely. This only made his smile grow wider, like that of a madman.
Eventually the immense light faded and Saber was in for a rude shock.
"Impossible…" Saber whispered weakly. Lancer was one thing, surviving her slash. But she had just used her Ultimate Phantasm on Caster and yet the servant was still standing. Caster looked like he had just went through a meat grinder. His hands were nothing more than putty, his clothes almost completely shredded and his body covered his burns of varying degrees.
But he was still alive.
And still smiling.
"Impressive Saber, impressive!" Caster declared with a cold laughter. "I would not expect anything less from the strongest among us."
"But since you were willing to reveal your trump, it is only fair and just that I reveal mine eh, oh King of Knights?"
"Tch!" Saber cursed, her mind still in fragments from watching Caster withstand her attack. To make matters worse, her identity was blown.
"You must be wondering what happened don't you?" Caster asked with a sneer. An angry glare was all the response he needed.
"My Noble Phantasm allows me to absorb any Servant's Noble Phantasm, though the prana consumption would vary for each rank. Judging from how much prana I used up just now, I am guessing that was at least an A+ ranked Noble Phantasm. " This caused Saber's eyes to widen to the size of dinner plates. What Caster had just shared was truly frightening. If that was the case, he may very well be unbeatable, the strongest amongst all servants.
Caster mentally grinned as he watched the fear and resignation sink in on her face. "That's right, fear me. Like how all your kind should. If you are already stunned by this, wonder what would happen if she realizes what I could do with the absorbed Noble Phantasm." At this, Caster decided to continue elaborating.
Until he realized his vision was bisected.
"What?" he asked in confusion as he felt his halves fall towards each side, blood gushing out and pooling on the floor. The sky literally rained blood, the warm droplets of red liquid staining Saber who was shocked at this sudden turn of events.
Before he hit the ground, Caster managed to get a good look at his killer. So did Saber, and neither of them were ashamed to say that they felt fear creep into their hearts when they witnessed him.
He was decked in azure armor that was jagged and towered over them both. His right arm, a tri bladed claw that could easily crush their heads like watermelons. In the left was a gigantic double-edged claymore that hummed with crimson prana, no doubt the weapon used to cleave Caster in half. The most intimidating part of him was the air around. It reeked of death and despair and to prove that, the fauna around him lay withered. Both servants found it difficult to breath upon seeing him, as though his presence alone had made the air denser.
"What are you," both servants thought to themselves. As though on cue, the figure gazed upon them, his eyes full of bloodlust and devoid of emotion.
The eyes of a killer.
And that which was not human.
Omake: Different Servants
Archer
Tokiomi took in a deep breath as he gazed upon the servant he had summoned. He had attempted to summon the king of heroes Gilgamesh using the molt on the first serpent as a catalyst.
Well that backfired.
The servant before him was tall at the very least. He had long, vibrant red hair and a Phantom of the Opera-esque mask on the right side of his face. His goatee and eyes the same shade of red as his hair and a pair of wire-framed glasses rested on his nose. His clothing was that of a priest with golden adornments and by his side laid a large holster. Behind him was a coffin with golden rimming and a weird golden ball-like creature sat on his hat.
"Nice place you got," the servant commented as he admired Tokiomi's room. "I'm the servant Archer and I'll be borrowing it for a bit."
"What?" Tokiomi started but before he uttered another word, he was kicked face first out of his own room.
"Oh, bring your finest wine while you are at it." The servant ordered. "I'll be enjoying myself for now."
Later
"Kill him." Ordered Kariya in which Berserker took off.
As Berserker neared Archer, Berserker extended his claw, intending to crush the unsuspecting servant.
Only to find him being grabbed by the hand and crushed under Archer's boot.
"Owowowow!" Berserker cried out in pain as Archer rubbed his boot furiously on his head.
"So I see you have grown some balls, stupid disciple." Berserker immediately began to sweat buckets as he recognized the voice. Never did he ever expect to see HIM again.
"Long time no see, Master." Berserker whimpered softly in which Archer grinned.
"Time to test those steel nades of yours." Archer declared, placing his gun between Berserker's crotch which cause Berserker to freak.
Over the next twenty minutes, Kariya almost went deaf from the pleas and screams of Berserker.
And so, Kariya had the hardest time of his life persuading Berserker to kill Archer and stop hiding in a corner for the rest of the Grail War, the man known as Cross Marian, General of the Black Order, and dual wielder of the Innocence. Also better known as Berserker's Master in life.
