Reversed
Author's note: I have no idea how a month passed this quickly. I don't want to promise anything but I will probably have a little more time after this week, so it shouldn't take me again a month to update. As always, thank you for your kind words in the reviews. For those of you who read my new story "Love is dangerous", I am terribly sorry that I didn't keep my promise to update last weekend. Life came in the way. For those who haven't read it, check it out! It is rated M and is a completely different take on the story. No beasts, lots of drama.
Chapter 13 – Got your back
Vincent's point of view
Everything happened so fast that I couldn't react. I only realized what I had agreed to when we arrived. Once I sat on the couch it dawned on me. I let her go alone. I still couldn't believe how I could ever do that. I was so taken aback by the happenings that I was in trance. Now I needed desperately a way to find her and help her. It was weird. I knew that she was stronger and faster than me, but that didn't change the fact, that I wanted to protect her. My decision was made even before I realized that I was thinking about it.
I rose from the couch, determination written all over my face.
"J.T. I need the address to the second place," I simply said.
"Er…what?" J.T. was more than surprised.
"You heard me," I wasn't in the mood for wasting any precious time.
"That is not gonna happen, buddy," J.T. almost laughed at my stupidity.
"Yes, it is, buddy," I grew impatient.
"Forget it, Vincent. She is going to rip my head off, if I let you go."
"See, you have no choice. She will rip your head off, one way or another, because if you don't give me the address, I will have to go to the warehouse and see, if I can find any hints there. This is the first place where they will look. She won't like that, now, will she?" I challenged. While talking I slowly moved myself towards his tranquilizer gun. With both the guns in my possession, I smiled at him. J.T.'s lips pressed together tightly and he swallowed nosily. I had won and I knew it. Not having a choice, J.T. scratched an address on a piece of paper.
I briefly gave it a look and then stuffed it in my pocket. "It better be the right one, otherwise the warehouse will be my next stop. Now would you mind on giving me some information on how I will get far enough to call a cab?"
J.T. did as he was told. His face wasn't very happy.
"Look, J.T., I don't want to tranquilize you, it is too dangerous. I will go out and I will put your gun down. Wait for three minutes and come and get it. If you attempt to drug me, I will do first," I hated to threaten him, but it was essential.
With these words I ran outside, far enough to call a cab without endangering the hideout.
I arrived at the second hideout. She wasn't there, probably meeting with Gabe for information. I begged that the key was where J.T. said and lucky enough I found it. I let myself and didn't bother turning on the lights. It would only scare her away. Impatiently, I sat on the couch and hoped that she wouldn't take too long. I already feared about her well-being.
Tess's point of view
I have been sitting for hours in a room waiting for my new boss to join me. The minute they brought me to this building complex my journalist's instincts kicked in. They assured me that he would come and give me new instructions to help with the operation, but somehow it didn't ease my discomfort. Why didn't I have this feeling before?
As I was sitting there, not able to do anything, I decided that I had to gather information. The feeling that my life could depend on it crept through my mind and wouldn't let me relax.
Determined, I opened the door to find a guard in front of it. This only confirmed my fears.
"Mr. F is going to be joining you shortly Ms. Vargas," he assured me with a professional smile.
"Well, I am sure Mr. F would appreciate it if I didn't turn the room into a bathroom, wouldn't he?" I played the 'I have to pee' –trick. The guard was well build but didn't look very smart after all. I could see how he contemplated on what to do.
As if he remembered that he had to treat me nicely he said, "Of course he would, Ms. Vargas. Please, follow me."
That was my chance. As soon as we turned into a smaller corridor I elbowed him. He was taken by surprise, so I was able to knee him in the crotch. As he bent over in pain I aimed my second knee strike at his face and knocked him out. While I tried to move him, I was glad I had thought of attacking him next to a door. I finally managed to hide him and took off to find answers. In moments like this I thanked God, that I had been taking martial art lessons since I was six years old.
It took me a while, but I found a room with a computer. It wasn't locked so I concluded that the owner wasn't in a high position and probably hadn't much information. It didn't matter, I could use the device to hack myself into their system. Luckily, I had learned all the tricks, legal and illegal, to help me be an excellent reporter. No one was as good as I was when it came to win information. It took me half an hour to get what I wanted and when I did, I froze.
"What did I do" I breathed. Just then, the alarm went off. They found out I was missing. I had to get out of there. Alive.
Author's note: I ended the chapter here, because next would be another change of point of view. This is the first story I started here and I regret to have chosen the first person style. It is a lot harder to show everything. When I finish the story and you people want me too, I might rewrite it in third person. It will be pretty much the same only with much more thoughts and emotions. J.T.'s feelings are neglected for example as I don't want to change the point of view all the time. This was probably the only time Tess had her version of the story at least in this form. I will show her thoughts while she is explaining the happenings to the others in form of flash backs. I think that I will do the same with Gabe J.T. and whoever I bring into the story so I won't have to switch all the time. The title of the chapter doesn't refer only to Vincent. You will find out in the next chapters who elese hes Catherine's back.
As always, feel free to review!
