Apology

"Oi! Sunshine wake-up!"

The Doctor lets out a groan as Donna's voice penetrates his ears and sleep.

"Ugh, what time is it?" He groans as he remembers once again why he missed his time sense so much.

"It's almost noon," she supplies. "You sleep like a rock you know. This is the third time I've tried waking you up."

"Huh," he mumbled, swinging his legs out from the blankets. "Interesting, I didn't use to be that way." He remembers the times when the littlest noise could wake him, the times when he could jump up and be alert in moments, because if he wasn't he would die.

Donna snorted, "Only you would find your own sleeping habits interesting. So do you want breakfast? Or would it be lunch now?"

"Doesn't matter," The Doctor yawned. "Either way I'm starving! Still getting used to that feeling."

"What feeling?"

"The feeling of being hungry this often."

Donna looked at him like he'd grown two heads, "you're not used to being hungry?"

"Nope."

"You are defiantly the weirdest man I have ever meant."

"You should've seen me before," the Doctor laughed, as he stood up and walked towards her. "So what's for breakfast?"

She gave him a look.

"I mean lunch."

"Eh I think I have something in the fridge if you want to look."

He blinked, "But you offered me some, I figure that meant you were going to make it for me."

"Maybe if you hadn't woken up at noon, now it's too late."

"Oi! It's not my fault!"

Donna snorted, "Sorry skinny boy, I need to get to work. Some of us don't have the leisure of working only when called upon."

"Oh…well then what am I supposed to do?"

"Go home, apologize."

"I can't," the Doctor mumbled. "She kicked me out."

"Please, you'll be fine, she's looking for you."

He blinked, "how do you know?"

"You're all over the news or at least you were for five minutes this morning. Of course the police aren't out looking yet, you haven't been gone long enough to be declared legally missing, but of course Pete Tyler has a few sources. So yep five minutes on the news all to yourself."

The Doctor grinned goofily, "Well isn't that wizard."

"Oi! That's my line Newbie."

He smiled broadly.

"So just to clarify, I'm off to work," Donna grabbed her bag. "And you are off to apologize."

"Why?"

"Because you can't spend the rest of your life sleeping on my couch."

"But I'm hungry," he whined.

"Then get lunch, either way you need to talk to her," Donna smiles at him. "Good luck" and she's gone.

He sighs, running his fingers through his hair, before grabbing a piece of bread and began his pacing.

He could go back, he wanted to go back, but he was terrified of what might await him. Closing his eyes he leaned back against the counter to think, people fought all the time, right? And it wasn't like he and Rose had fought before, his mind wandered back to the time when she had saved her father against his wishes. So how come this was different?

Taking a deep breath he stood and after folding the blankets he had used walked out the door.

"Get it over with," the Doctor mumbled to himself as he began his walk back to the house. "Quick and fast, like a band-aid."

He closed his eyes again as he rounded the corner and the Tyler's mansion rose into sight.

"Like a band-aid," he continued to chant through his mind, as he reached the door and knocked.

Like a band-aid. He listened as the lock disengaged and the door opened silently.

Like a band-aid. He looked up slowly into a distraught Rose Tyler's eyes.

Like a band-aid. He opened his mouth, but he couldn't make any words come out, because how could she still want him after the things he had said, gulping he looked away.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have….I'll just go," and he turned to leave only to freeze as a hand grabbed him by the shoulder and yanked him around, pulling him into a deep hug.

"I'm sorry," he mumbled as he wrapped his arms around her. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to, I wasn't thinking. I thought that you didn't want me, I didn't realize that you'd miss me," There are tears in his eyes because his emotions are all messed up and he doesn't know how to react and everything's so human as Rose's arms around him tighten and she whispers back.

"It's okay, everything's okay. What I did was stupid, I was upset, I wasn't thinking right. I thought that you would be right back. I can't believe that I would think for a moment that you wouldn't react so drastically. I'm so sorry."

And for the longest time they stand there and hug until that hug evolved into a kiss, because sometimes people fight and when they do its okay, because sometimes it all works out in the end and an apology is all that's need. Sometimes it's just that simple.
