(Sorry for the wait. I was on a cruise. There's also the fact that I've been paying more attention to my DeviantArt page to work on my Transformers Beast Wars/Sonic fiction.)

Libby merged into a horse while the Masked Mutant turned himself into a knight in black armor with a halberd (an axe combined with a hook and a spear) and mounted himself on top of her. The demonic horse whinnied, reared up and stomped her hoof onto the floor. Almost instantly, the room around me became covered with four paintings of red and black spirals. To my amazement, the horse and rider charged right into one of them! Where...where did they go? Then suddenly, I felt a sharp jab in my back as the knight stabbed me in the shoulder with the spear end of his weapon, laughing as he jumped into another painting. So that's his game, huh? I positioned myself, curled my left hand into a fist, then twirled my arm around like a lasso, the other hand holding it. I heard a distant clopping of hooves...I turned around and punched the knight and rider before they had a chance to attack me. Just keep this up, I told myself... Then suddenly, the horse jumped through another painting and its rider positioned to slice me with the axe end of the halberd. I ducked just in time, then punched him in the back with my lasso arm. The knight growled and forced his steer to turn to another painting.

The knight and horse appeared in another painting, ready to strike. I was ready to strike, when suddenly, they turned around! Confused, I looked behind me. The knight! He slashed me with the axe end of the halberd, sending me flying. Wow, did that hurt! I'm lucky to be alive! Well, I know not to make that mistake again. Twirling around my lasso arm, I waited for the moment to strike. Wait. Two of them?! Two knights, two steeds! Which one is the real thing? Then suddenly, the one on the left turned around. RIGHT! I punched the real thing, forcing it to retreat into another painting. Two more knights appeared, both increased in speed. Suddenly, I misjudged my aim and the one on the left lunged the spear end of the halberd and would have sliced my head off if I hadn't ducked. I punched in the back of the knight, forcing him off his steer which crashed into a wall. The knight floated into the air and hovered around me. Then formed a ball of electricity in his hands. I don't know why I did this, but for some reason I punched the ball and it bounced right back at him, shocking him and stunning him. It was at that moment, I realized both the mutant and I had forgotten something: rubber is not a conductor of electricity! This guy must not have seen the big picture, though, as he got back up and started his electricity attack again. I swatted it away, but he swatted it back at me again! Back and forth the ball went, becoming sort of like a game of volley ball, except the loser gets pelted with lethal volts of electricity. And it's not going to be me!

The knight fell to the floor and panted in exhaustion, giving me a chance to punch him in various places, hurting him greatly. Suddenly, he got back up and took out his halberd. Crap! He's coming after me personally! I grabbed two sides of the floor and stretched my arms forward like a sling shot, then kicked off, ready to kick my opponent...square in the groin area. He squeaked, dropped his halberd and fell to his knees, his hands covering his sensitive spot. He was defenseless to the uppercut I finished him off with. A voice echoed throughout the halls. "Very impressive, boy," it said. "Though I'm afraid your job's not finished. If you want your happy ending, come and face me. The staircase to the left will show you..." A staircase replaced one of the paintings on the left side, and I felt exciting chills run through me. This is it! The final boss! Suddenly, I heard a groan.

"Wait. Don't leave me behind." Libby?!

"Why should I trust you?" I shouted angrily.

"You gave Molecule Man a second chance."

"He was against Mr. Fear from the start! You and Mutant sided with Mr. Fear however. You're a villain! Now if you don't mind."

"Take me with you and let me help you fight, or I'll turn into a giant frog and eat you!"

I turned away from Libby. "No."

She was visibly upset by now. "Please! I don't want to see you hurt! I even tried to save you those many times!"

"It was all for show," I scoffed. "You don't care about-" He stopped my rant when she hugged me tight.

"Does that prove me right?" she asked hopefully.

"Well...well..." I muttered before regaining my composure. "Not entirely." I paused, thinking it over. "Fine. You can come. But if you ever, ever, betray me, I will be forced to end you."

"Fair enough."

I started walking up the stairs with Libby beside me. I can hear the Bowser's Road theme from Super Mario 64 being played again on an organ. This is it. No more playing around. This is the final boss. And if Libby and I fail, both the inhabitants of this comic book world and the real world will be converted into monsters. Just like Dinah...
