Disclaimer: I own nothing. Not Gibbs, not Ari, no one do I own. This is all for amusement. There I said it, now can someone have Ari put the gun down slowly…

RidingAngelxspy:

Hey! Yeah, I've been taking my time updating though in my defense it is not completely my fault. My Wifi has been all messed up, and the times that it was working…I've been sick, the risk of letting your nieces and nephews come and stay the night, lol. I'll take that a compliment about the cliffhangers, and soon. Hopefully. I've got the idea all in my head, but I barely have anywhere I can just relax and write. That is my own fault. I'm renovating my room, which is where I write and had to pull everything out, and every thing is chaos…just really not conducive for writing. Kate's fate is still up in the air, honestly. I'm glad you liked that. Ziva and Gibbs's relationship is one of my favorite parts of the show too, and I really wanted to 'tip my hat' to that. I will tell you honestly that I was not always as good at writing as I am today. I've always had an imagination, and that's half the battle. Putting it into words is where I struggled. What I'm saying is don't give up on, and just keep writing. The more you do, the more you'll better. :D

YES I AM A DOCTOR FAN! I honestly was a bit worried because I loved Matt Smith, but when watching the episode-so beautifully written-I just watched Peter C, and was like, "He is the Doctor." That's the beauty of writers of Doctor Who, and the actors. They make the change from actor to actor so seamless, and it stays true to Doctor Who. Look at you, you've got me go all fan girl, lol.

Ah, thank you. I appreciate that. Sending you many hugs!

Sorry for the long wait! I've been busy, Wifi has been down, and the other half of the time I've been sick. This chapter was a bit of a struggle, but I hope everyone likes it. Hope you enjoy! Also if you didn't know, 'The Girl in Memory: Spooks Edition' is up and you can go read it. Details will be listed at the end of the chapter.

CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

'Deliverance'

The house was so dark. So cold. So unlike home in that moment that it left Evelyn chilled to the bone. It just didn't make any sense inside her mind, like it wasn't real. Instead, it was a living nightmare. She ran the pad of her thumb against Ari's cheek and she glanced up towards the windows. Her stomach turned violently, wanting nothing more to be out there with her father. Just one more miracle, she prayed once more before she dropped her gaze carefully down back to Ari's face.

"Why him, Evelyn?" Kate asked.

"What?" Evelyn raised her head.

"Why him, Evie? Why did you go through all this to protect him?" Kate felt the need to ask. It boggled her mind that Evelyn had hidden Ari from all of them for so long, and it was just one of two things that she had kept from them.

Evelyn paused, her blue eyes going distance as she tried to think of an answer to that. "Because it was easy," she breathed out, her heart felt heavy in her chest. "It shouldn't have been. It should have been so hard to pick him up, and chose to bring him here. To hide him. But it wasn't. It was so easy like breathing," she said, brushing the strands of Ari's hair off of his forehead. He looked so pale, it was frightening despite the slight mumbles he made. "We need something better to stop the bleeding," Evelyn's voice sounded faint to her ears, as she pressed her cheek against Ari's forehead. Evelyn's hands trembled as she pulled away from him. "I think I have a first aid kit in the kitchen…" She breathed out.

"I'll go get it," Kate offered.

"No." Evelyn shook her head. "No. I know where it is. I'll get it," Evelyn rose to her feet and those her knees quaked, she managed to stay upright. Her eyes were narrowed, and her expression taunt. "Keep pressure on the wound…please," Evelyn begged, looking Kate in the eye. She knew how much she was asking, and Kate knew the gravity of it too because she hesitated for the briefest of seconds. "Please, Kate…don't let him die," Evie asked, her voice trembled ever so slightly.

With a heavy sigh, Kate bowed her head before she walked over and knelt down beside Ari. Her hands pressed down on Ari's wound carefully, and her brown eyes flickered upward to meet Evelyn. "I've got him. You go get the first aids kit. Everything will be fine, I promise," Kate told her, as comfortingly as she could.

"Thank you," Evelyn said, sincerely. Her footsteps were quick, but soundless against the wooden floors as she raced to the kitchen. There was an urgency that raced through her blood as she slid to a stop in front of the kitchen sink that she almost missed it.

The back door was open.

She immediately drew out her gun, and raised it. She stared straight down the barrel at a woman who also held a gun trained on Evelyn. The woman had dark hair that matched her dark eyes, and there was something exotic about her appearance as well as something menacing. "Put the gun down," Evelyn ordered, her voice flat and hard leaving no room for argument.

The woman huffed ever so slightly, her lips quirked in a taunting smile. She made no movement to drop the gun, nor did her expression indicate that she was particularly intimidated by Evelyn's glare. "Evelyn Matthews," she said, her voice a low purr as her dark gaze ran up and down Evie. "I've been waiting a long time to meet you."

Evelyn paused ever so slightly, then her gaze narrowed. "Drop the gun," Evelyn stated, not bothering to play this woman's game. Each second that went by was another second she came closer to losing Ari or her father. "And put your hands in the air."

The woman chuckled, but this time she set the gun on the counter top then crossed her arms over her chest. "We have so much to talk about…you and I," she stated, and her calm demeanor was working on Evelyn's last nerve. "Your father is not the man you think, you see-"

"Oh, cut the shit," Evie cut her off, coldly. "If you are talking about Pedro Hernedaz, then you will find little sympathy for that bastard from me. That man killed my mother, and if my father had not already killed him, I would have."

The woman's calm façade cracked into a sneer. "Like father, like daughter, is it?" The woman's voice was suspiciously light. Her eyes then flickered to something behind Evelyn.

Evelyn tensed, and whirled around only to have great hand seize her by the neck. The man was huge, and picked her up as if she were a light as a feather. Panic burned through her like lava, and she flayed about violently trying to break free. She pointed her gun at him and went to pull the trigger, but the man seized her hand and twisted. There was a loud crack and Evie let out a broken scream. The gun fell uselessly to the floor, and the man's hand tightened around her throat.

"Such a pity. I would have spared your life in return for your father's," the woman gave a 'tsk' of her tongue and shook her head mockingly.

"I…doubt that…" Evelyn grunted, burying the fingernails of her left hand deep into the man's hand to try and force him to let go. She kicked out with her feet, hitting him in the shin and knees. The man retaliated by slamming her head right into her cabinets, and Evelyn saw star burst across her vision as pain sliced through her skull. For a moment, she went limp like a rag doll with shock and then jolted when something brushed against her fingertip. Her fingers clasped around the knife handle, and she pulled it out of the knife block. That moment wasn't about rage, or fear. It was about survival.

The knife went surprisingly easily into his chest, for all it the good when she tried to cook. That thought made a hysterical noise pull from her throat as the man stumbled back with a scream. She pulled the knife out, and shoved it upward straight into the man's throat. He dropped to the floor, gurgling. It rained blood. Blood everywhere, covering everything. It was warm and wet, and for a moment, she stood there in shock by it. The shock quickly worn off when she saw a shadow movie out of the corner of her of eye.

Her eyes widened, and she dropped down to her knees a split second before the gunshot cracked loudly. Her ears rang painfully, and she drew in ragged breath while she tried to spot her gun on the ground. It was hard to see in the darkness, especially as panic coiled through her. She could hear the woman rush towards her, and it would only be seconds before she rounded the counter. A gasp escaped her when she caught the glint of cold metal out of the corner of her eye, and reached for it when two loud gunshots cracked above her head. She saw the woman immediately back off, and hide around the corner.

"Are you alright?" Kate called out.

Evelyn could have kissed, she let out a tight breath. "I'm fine," Evelyn called back, her back hit the cabinets and her hands curled into fists. "Just help shoot the bitch!"

"Now, now," the woman said from somewhere in the dark. "Didn't your father teach you any manners?"

"My father taught me how to shoot," Evelyn snapped. "I would love to give you a demonstration." Evelyn inched forward on her hands and knees. Her heart beat thumped in her throat, and she tried to make no noise. One noise and she would get a bullet through her skull.

"My brother has already killed your father," the woman stated, proudly. "And now I will kill yo-"

No, Evelyn thought, the word a faint whisper in her mind. They took her mother away. They would NOT take her father, too. A roar burst from her throat and anger as vicious as wildfire rushed through her. Her vision went red, and she was on her feet. She wasn't aware of charging forward, but the woman wheeled back to face her, gun raised. Evelyn tackled the woman, while her hands seized her wrist twisting the barrel of the gun upward. The woman screamed in rage, but didn't drop the gun. Instead she swung it in a broad, and hit Evelyn with the butt of it straight to her temple.

Blinding pain throbbed through her skull, but her rage was stronger. Evelyn's finger wrapped around the woman's, all the force of her fury lending her strength despite the blistering pain shooting through her body. "No! No! No!" She screamed, angrily.

"Evelyn!" Kate looked on shocked.

Evelyn raised her fist and brought it down, again and again. It didn't matter that her wrist was most likely broken. She wanted this woman to hurt, and badly. The woman thrashed, and clawed at Evelyn. She had at least twenty pounds on Evelyn, but Evelyn far more determination. The sound of her knuckles hitting against flesh echoed through the room, and tears of rage poured down her cheeks. She kept hitting, even after the woman slumped out cold. She could only faintly here Kate calling for her when arms wrapped around her, pulling her to her feet gently. For a moment, she fought until she heard the familiar voice whisper out, "It's okay. It's alright. I got you."

A sob broke through her throat, and she wrapped her arms tightly around Gibbs's neck. "She said you were dead. She said they had killed you," Evelyn buried her face into his neck, and Gibbs rested his chin on the top of her head while gently cradling her head.

"I'm here," Gibbs assured her, his heart pounding in his chest. When he heard the gunfire, he thought that he had been to late. "I came back. Just like I promised."

Evelyn trembled, and squeezed her eyes shut. "You did," she breathed out. It was over. They were all okay. "You did. Just like you promised."

Fornell knelt down beside the woman, and checked her pulse. "She's still alive," Fornell stated, eyebrow arched. He took the gun that laid nearby and handed off to Kate who stood off the side before he pulled out handcuffs. "You sure beat the hell out of her, kid. Didn't know you had it in you," he added, securing the woman's wrist.

"Is that a compliment, Fornell?" Evelyn winced, and moved to stand on her own. Her knees buckled, and Gibbs steadied her with hands.

"Easy," Gibbs said, gently. "Easy."

Evelyn's face was colorless, but her expression was earnest as she stared up at him. She leaned on him for support as her entire body felt heavy, and tired. "I'm glad you came back," she said, a tear rolling down her cheek.

He reached up and brushed the tear away. "I always will," he promised, and Evelyn's bottom lip quivered. She wrapped her arms around him, silently reassuring herself that he was indeed her and very much alive. Suddenly, there seemed to be a thousand sirens piercing the air. The sound so loud it reverberated in her ears, and she pulled back with a startled look on her face.

"Looks like help has finally arrived," Fornell stated, dryly. "I'll go inform them of the situation."

"Wait," Evelyn jerked, her heart skipped a beat in her chest. "Ari? Is he…?" She looked at Kate, with wide and fearful eyes. She felt her dad tense, but he said nothing.

"He's alive," Kate said, her voice still raw from panic. "Ziva is with him right now."

Evelyn let out a relieved sigh. For how hellish the night had turned, it was surprisingly how quickly the chaos had come to an end. Evelyn had been taken from Gibbs's supporting arms by the paramedics, and placed in the back of an ambulance. After wrapping up her hands, the paramedics told her they would be transporting her to the hospital. "Wait! Please, just wait!" She begged them, her blue eyes looked over at Ari who was being wheeled towards another ambulance. The paramedics reluctantly let her hobble over to him.

"Evelyn…do you wish to ride with us?" Ziva asked her, gently.

Evelyn wanted nothing more to be by Ari's side, but she glanced back at her father. She needed this time with him, just Ziva needed this time with Ari. Her heart ached so painfully in her chest, and she blinked back tears. Wrapping her arms around herself, she shook her head. "No. You need…need this time with him. And I have things I need to sort out with…"

Ziva gave her a soft smile. "I understand."

"Just…keep him alive?" Evelyn asked. It wasn't a fair question to ask because if things turned bad, which they truly could, Ziva would have no way of keeping Ari alive.

"I will," Ziva nodded anyways, a gleam of tears in her eyes.

Evelyn was able to press a quick kiss to Ari's cheek, and grasp his hand for a split second before the paramedic moved her out of the way. She watched with a heavy as Ziva climbed into the back of the ambulance with Ari, and then her eyes flickered to Ari. He looked so lifeless that it made her heart hurt. She flinched as the paramedics closed the ambulance doors, and the sirens kicked on.

Gibbs rested a hand on her shoulder, his presence offering more comfort that he would ever knew. "Come on. We'll meet them up at the hospital," Gibbs told her, quietly.

Evelyn nodded, a trembling breath passed through her lips. They didn't stay to watch Alejandro's body pulled out of the woods – or even his sister's arrest. There were enough officers present to handle everything, and honestly Gibbs was too tired to deal with anything more tonight. He had more important things to do, such as be with Evelyn. Evelyn was forced to ride in the back of ambulance, and he rode along with her. As soon as they stepped foot in the hospital, they were whisked away to treatment cubicles.

The nurse after several questions, and a preliminary check up went to go get an x-ray machine. Gibbs leaned against the wall, a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach. He had sworn to serve and protect, but he hadn't been able to protect his daughter. He would never forget the feeling of helpless terror as he raced through the woods, with the thought that he would be too late to save her. He stared down at Evelyn who sat nervously on the hospital bed, her bandage hand sitting loosely in her lap.

"What happened to your hand?" Gibbs asked.

"Remember dead guy in the kitchen?" Evie asked, blandly.

"Yeah," Gibbs remembered his shock at the scene he ran into. One dead body with the knife still sticking out of it, and Evelyn beating Alejandro's sister senseless. Was it wrong for him to feel a bit of pride at that? He didn't think so.

"He happened," she replied, wryly.

"Ah." Gibbs nodded.

They fell into an uncomfortable silence. Evelyn nervously picked at the hospital sheets, and looked down at her feet for a long before she sighed. "I know that you don't want to hear excuses," she began, shakily.

"Evelyn, don't do this right now," Gibbs sighed, heavily.

"If I don't do it now, then I will lose my nerve and I will never be able to get it all out," Evleyn told him, her hair falling down into her face as she shook her head lightly. "I know you don't want excuses, and I won't give you any. And I can't tell you I'm sorry for helping him. That would be a lie and I'm…tired of lying. Especially to you," Evelyn looked at him, her eyes earnest. "But I am sorry…for hurting you. Because I know my decision would. I know that it did, and I…I'm really sorry."

"I know," Gibbs breathed out. His expression was bare, his emotions so plainly written and she felt her heart twist inside her chest. "Why? Why him?" Gibbs had to ask.

Evelyn blinked, then her brows furrowed. "Honestly…I can't tell you why," she murmured, her voice barely more than a whisper. "It's…not something that words can explain. It just…simply is. There was this hole in my life, and when Ari came into my life it was like it wasn't there anymore. I didn't understand, and at first, I certainly didn't want to…but," Evie's expression softened, "somewhere along the way that changed.

"And I know you may never be able to accept my decision to have Ari in my life, and after everything he put us through…I understand that. I just…" She swallowed thickly, running a hand through her hair. "I just need to know where this leaves us because I'm scared and I really don't know what to do anymore."

Gibbs stared at her, his blue eyes stark and clear. He would never be able to accept Ari. Not in hundred, not even in a million years. Even in his comatose state where Ari looked like any normal man fighting for his life, Gibbs could not summon up one ounce of sympathy for him. But he loved his daughter, and more than anything Gibbs wanted her in his life. No matter what the cost. "You're right…I won't accept Ari, and I won't try to deny that," Gibbs began, carefully. "But," he reached out, taking her hand in his, "you're my daughter. I thought I lost you tonight. I thought I had lost you again. I refuse to go through that again. I will be for you, always, no matter who is in your life."

He then quirked up a smirk. "Just don't expect me not to shoot him when he does something I don't like," he warned her, though he stated it jokingly, Gibbs was dead serious.

"I get to shoot him," Evie laughed, wiping her eyes. "You can help hide the body."

Gibbs smiled, a true genuine smile. "That's my girl," he said, and he rose after planting a kiss on her forehead. Suddenly, the curtains were drawn back, but it was not a doctor that came strolling in. It wasn't even a nurse.

"Jen?" Gibbs looked at the redhead in surprise.

"We have a big problem, Jethro," Jenny stated, her lips pursed, and her eyes hard.

"If this about not following protocol, then that is solely on me-" Gibbs began, harshly, but Jenny just shook her head.

"No. This isn't about protocol. I would even expect you to follow protocol." Jenny shot Evelyn a look out of the corner of her eye, and added, "Especially with your daughter involved."

Evelyn bristled, not liking the woman's tone. Neither did Gibbs for his eyes narrowed dangerously. "Then what, Madame Director, is this visit all about?" He asked, his voice a mere whispered and yet it carried the weight of thunder to it.

"Eli David. You recall him, don't you?" Jenny asked, with a mirthless smile.

"The Director of Mossad." Gibbs inclined his head. He had expected Mossad to give them grief over all that had happened, especially with the fact that an agent and former agent of theirs was involved.

"And Ari's father," Jenny dropped the bombshell.

"What?" Gibbs barked out.

"Ari's father is the Director Mossad?" Evelyn felt a heavy weight hit her in the gut, and her mind raced. Ari had told her everything about his childhood, down to the dark gritty details. He never once hid what he was from her, but this…this was one thing he did not tell. "A mole. He was made to be a mole from the second he was conceived. He never even had a chance to be something else, did he?" Evelyn's voice was bitter, holding her wounded hand to her chest.

Jenny looked a bit shocked by the outburst, but Gibbs just shook his head. "What does Eli David have to do with anything?" Gibbs demanded, hotly.

"He is on his way here," Jenny explained, arms crossed over her chest. "He contesting the sanctuary granted to Ari by the United States and FBI, and he is taking him home."

"No…" was the only thing that came out Evelyn's mouth before her entire world went black.

Ziva stared at the doors that the doctors had taken Ari through. They had refused to let her go any further, and it took everything in her not to lash out. Helplessness was not something she was accustomed to, but it was the feeling that was suffocating her now. She paced back and forth, tossing any nurse or orderly that approached her a venomous look. Her heart was beating inside of her chest, a wild and frantic rhythm.

How could this happen? She knew how it happened, and it still left her with a bitter taste in her mouth. Scrubbing her eyes to stop the tears before they could even start, and she drew in deep and even breaths. Minutes passed, so many minutes, until a doctor came out the doors with a grim tight face. "Ziva David," he called out her name.

Ziva turned towards him. Her heart was pounding her chest, and she stepped forward. "Is my brother alright? Is going to wake up?" She asked.

The doctor hesitated.

"Is my brother alright?" Ziva demanded.

The world was hazy, and it trembled back into focus. Evelyn groaned, pushing herself up only to hiss and fall back against the back as pain exploded through her wrist. "Oh…what happened?" She whimpered, reaching up with her good hand and pressed her fingers to her throbbing forehead.

"You fainted," her father's voice came from somewhere to her right.

Her eyes snapped open. "I did not!" She denied.

"Oh, you did," Tony stated, with a wide grin.

Evelyn shot him and Kate a look. "When did you two get here?" She demanded, more than asked.

Tony narrowed his eyes, and his head cocked to the side. "You know, I'm starting to see the family resemblance," he commented, then his smile dropped when he caught Gibbs's stare. "We got here just a few minutes ago. While you were busy being all fainted, and everything."

"I did not faint," Evelyn gave him a dirty look.

"You did," Kate said, trying to suppress a smile. "We won't mentions it."

"Except for a few hundred times," Tony added. "Until it stops being funny."

Evelyn just closed her eyes. "Okay. I fainted. Can anyone reminded me why I fainted?" She asked, tiredly.

Kate and Tony looked towards Gibbs. Gibbs stood there, a blank expression on his face as he worked his jaw. He looked tired, and felt more tired than he had ever felt before. "Ari. His father," he replied, shortly.

That made Evelyn's eyes snap open, and her head snapped towards the NCIS Director who stood in the corner of the room. Jenny looked displeased, and her arms were crossed over her chest and her posture was rigid. "We have to tell Fornell," Evelyn spoke, quickly. "There is not way he knows this. They are going to go over his head, and snowball him before he knows what hit him and they are going to take Ari away! Damn it, why is there no phone in this room?"

Gibbs pinched the bridge between his nose while he watched Evelyn pace struggle to get up off the bed. "Evelyn, sit down," Gibbs ordered, sharply.

"Sit down? Sit down?" She gave him a look, her voice brimming with hysteria. "How can I sit down at a time like this? They are going to take Ari back, Gibbs. Back to a place he hates more than anything in this world, by a person he hates with everything in his heart! If you knew what he went through there…God, dad even though you hate him, even you wouldn't send him back!"

"Evelyn," Gibbs stepped forward, and brought her to a stop with his hands clasped firmly on her shoulders. "Evelyn, sit down. We'll take care of it."

"We will?" Tony looked stunned. Gibbs gave him a look that promised a head slap, and Tony immediately straightened his posture. "We will," he nodded, though he still looked a bit hesitant. "Exactly how are we supposed to do that?"

"Kate," Gibbs ordered. "Get a hold of Fornell. Brief him on what is going on, as well as his agents guarding Ari."

"Gibbs," Jenny looked at him in shock. "You can't-"

"It is out of our jurisdiction," Gibbs stated, simply. "This is Fornell's case, not ours. He has a right to know what is going on."

"Since when have you ever cared about jurisdiction?" Jenny asked him, dryly.

"I thought you might appreciate it this time. Considering how badly this might affect the relationship between the FBI and NCIS if it got out that NCIS knew what the Director of Mossad was planning," Gibbs stated, diplomatically.

"I am more concerned about our relations with Mossad," Jenny glowered up at him. How could she expect him to understand the value of Mossad's alliance with NCIS? Gibbs hated politics. "Agent Matthews," Jenny said, her voice hard and her face stern. Gibbs recognized the shift from his friend to the Director, and he knew Jenny was about to do something she was going to regret. "I understand that you are emotionally involved here, and while I can appreciate that fact. I am afraid I'm going to ask you to cease any involvement with Ari Haswari from here on out," she stated, firmly. "NCIS is one of the few agencies that has good relation with Mossad, and it has taken years of hard work to do that. We can't risk that for anyone."

Evie stared for a moment, her mind whirling with the new Director's words before she bristled, angrily. "Excuse me?" Evelyn demanded.

"If you do, I am afraid you will be looking for employment elsewhere," Jenny threatened, ignoring the glower that Gibbs shot her way.

"So I continue to try and help Ari…and you'll fire me?" Evie cocked her head to the side, shrugging out of her father's hold. She looked ever bit of absolutely furious and she met Jenny's cool stare without even flinching. "You'll fire me?" Evelyn scoffed with a laugh. "Here, let me save you the trouble…I quit!"

"Evelyn," Kate gasped, while Tony's jaw dropped. Gibbs shot his daughter a look, but he didn't look overly surprised. Jenny looked shocked.

"The only reason I fought to join NCIS so hard wasn't because I wanted the job that badly. It was because I wanted to meet my father, to be a daughter worthy of him," Evelyn said, taking a step until she was face to face with Jenny. "I have my father in my life. I don't need the job anymore. You might want to make sure that before you give an ultimatum that the person cares about what you're threatening to take away."

Jenny's eyes narrowed, a response on the tip of her tongue when the curtain pulled back. The Director's expression was almost comical when Ziva stepped in. "Ziva…I did not know you were here," Jenny said, surprised.

"That is because I did not want you to," was Ziva's simple reply. Her swollen dark eyes swept over to Evelyn, and Evelyn saw Ziva's expression crumble slightly.

"Oh, God. Ziva, has something happened? Is it Ari?" Evelyn stood up with the help of her father.

"The doctors have finished with the procedure. The bullet was removed with minimal damage, but they are still worried. He has yet to wake up," Ziva informed, her voice flat. However, there was a tremble of emotions there.

Evelyn's heart sank. "Can…can I see him?" She asked, after a moment's hesitation.

"Yes. Of course," Ziva nodded, her hands clasped tightly behind her back. "It would…it would bring me much comfort to know that he is not alone. I have to…deal with something."

Jenny shot Ziva a sharp look.

Evelyn turned to her father, her mouth moving, but she couldn't form the words. Her blue eyes looked at him, pleading. Gibbs swallowed thickly, and pushed down his instinctive anger at Ari. "Tony, can you make sure Evelyn gets to the bast…Haswari's room?" Gibbs asked.

"Sure thing, boss," Tony reached forward, and secured his arm around Evelyn's waist. She was far too shaky to be standing on her own, let alone walking.

"Thanks, Tony," Evelyn said, softly.

"No problem, Evie," Tony said, and the two of them walked out of the room.

"I take my leave as well," Ziva stated.

"Ziva, wait. We need to talk," Jenny said.

"It will have to wait," Ziva said, flatly. She turned and walked out of the room leaving a baffled Jenny standing there.

Gibbs looked between Jenny and Ziva curiously for a moment before he turned towards Kate. "Kate," he said her name, pointedly.

"Right." Kate jumped slightly. "I'll get a hold of Fornell."

Gibbs stood there, silently after Kate walked out and waited for Jenny to speak. He could feel her practically bursting at the seams with the need to tear into him. He looked over at her, meeting her stare without batting an eye and cocked up his eyebrow.

"What are you playing at Jethro?" Jenny demanded. "This isn't some case where you bend the rules. The fallout from this could be a lot worse than merely going over someone's head, or hacking into someone's files."

"I'm not playing at anything, Jen," Gibbs crossed his arms over his chest. "If anyone is playing games, it would be you. It is no coincidence that Eli David knows where his son is."

"Are you really complaining? You hate Ari Haswari," Jenny looked at him, and she just couldn't understand it. "One would think that this would be a welcomed surprise to you."

"Oh, I would welcome the day that Ari Haswari is far away from me and my family. But this isn't about me, Jen. Not even about you," Gibbs said, his voice quiet, but firm. "This about Evelyn, and as much as I hate Ari…I love her more."

END OF CHAPTER!

It's a different take on The Girl in Memory where Evelyn's life has taken a very, very different path. It will be much more darker than the original version and is crossed over with MI-5 Spooks. It is also set in 2007 to 2008, which means no Ari and no Kate.
