Hey guys, been a while since I've update this story. Thing is this will probably be one of the last time I update it. See I've been sitting here for the past twenty minutes just staring at this empty page trying to force myself to write chapter 22 and it's just not going to happen. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal and I would just try again on some other day. But the problem is that I'm kind of working on a deadline now. I'll be leaving for Army Bootcamp in early August and I really wanted to finish this story before I left but between school, working out to get prepared for boot camp, and general laziness (which is honestly the biggest factor in this equation) it's not happening. But because I feel I owe you guys some closure (and because I know that Fanfiction doesn't like writers posting updates) I'm not just going to leave you guys hanging. Just because I couldn't put my ideas on paper (er...computer) doesn't mean I don't have the story loosely planned out in my head. So I'm going to go through a chapter by chapter summary of how I would've finished the story. I'll be doing these in little chunks, a couple of chapters per update until we reach the end (though the number of chapters shouldn't go past thirty).
Chapter 22: Brandyn watches a news report on the fallout of the Zuruel and Bardiel attacks and mopes about how he should've prevented their deaths and how he's done more harm than good. Mari turns off the tv and tries to snap him out of his depression but fails. Brandyn then takes a stroll around Tokyo-3 in order to clear his head and ends up running into Kaworu.
Chapter 23: Brandyn and Kaworu begin to talk, the conversation starts out innocent enough until Kaworu suddenly interrupts Brandyn and tells him that he doesn't have to play dumb. Brandyn tries to play it off but Kaworu uses his A.T Field to probe Brandyn's mind (Think Asuka's Mindrape, only 100% less traumatizing) and mentally explains to him what's going on. Turns out that Kaworu knows exactly what's going on. See at the end of Evangelion it didn't go quite like the movie. Instead of just ending instrumentality Shinji wishes for the world to restart and Rei obliges, reversing time to just before Shinji met Misato. The thing is that Angels (and creatures with angel DNA) can retain their memories because of their different biology, Humans can not. Rei had all three of her life times (Rei 1 killed by Naoko, Rei 2 that self destructed, and Rei 3 that did all the End of Eva stuff) shoved into her head, her mind basically broke and that's why she's even more sullen than in the show. She can pilot an Eva but not much else. The other thing is that messing with the timeline ripped a hole between dimensions that Brandyn was sucked into. Kaworu explains all this and finishes off by saying that he wants to use this second chance to make Shinji's life happy and believes the only way to do that is to to start up instrumentality since Shinji's life will never be anything but suffering. Kaworu explains that he would send Brandyn home once he started instrumentality, since he would have all the power of Lilith and Adam. In return he asks for Brandyn's help. Brandyn doesn't respond, too overwhelmed by all that he's just learned. Kaworu tells him to think about it and leaves.
Chapter 24: After mulling over Kaworu's offer for most of the chapter he decides to not accept the offer and though he wouldn't admit it his motive for denying the offer wasn't for any logical reason. He just thought that if he let Instrumentality happen everyhting he's done would be invalidated, Toji and Kensuke's deaths would mean nothing. He then decides to redouble on his efforts to stop third impact, even if the thought of what he has to do sickens him.
