Edit: I've uploaded three chapters today, make sure you've read chapters 28 and 29 before you read this one.
You know what, fuck it I'll write and upload the last chapter today too. From this moment forward let July 17th be known as "Welcome to Eva, Welcome to Madness" day.
Chapter 30: After Brandyn creates his new A.T field arm Kaworu rushes him. Brandyn dodges Unit-06's punch and Brandyn uses his A.T field arm to punch him through the gut. Unit-06 goes limp. "I've won Kaworu." Brandyn announces. "It seems you have." Kaworu says back. As the fatigue and pain gets to him Brandyn's concentration wavers and the A.T field arm dissapears and Unit 06 falls to the floor. "And now that that's done. It's time to take care of this, it's brought about too much trouble." Brandyn says as he walked up to Lilith. He gets as close to it as possible and then proceeds to start the steps to self destruct the Eva. "Shinji, pick up Unit-06 and back up." he tells Shinji. He has to do this, it's the only way. If this stays around then it'll stay in the clutches of Gendo, Seele, and Kaworu. And that's not good for anyone. Brandyn makes one more speech about how Shinji and Kaworu should find hapiness in this world instead of rejecting it. 'Heh, this world may suck but it taught me a lot about myself. Plus I got to be a hero, hopefully turned a few lives around in the process. That's enough...right?" Brandyn thinks to himself as he pulls the lever to self destruct.
And there you have it folks, it's a bit anti climactic after I just uploaded a full chapter but I hope the ending itself was worth it. I debated whether or not I should've had an epilogue centering around Shinji and Kaworu but decided against it. I figured I would leave it open-ended about whether or not Kaworu and Shinji made a happy ending for themselves or not. Besides, we're all Evangelion fans and it wouldn't be Evangelion without a controversial cliffhanger ending right?
This is the last time I'll be writing to you guys (unless I decide to start writing Evangelion fan fiction again when I have free time while I'm in the military.) so I figured I'd ramble on for a bit about a couple of stuff. First of all it's time to discuss references again: So the whole A.T field arm is an obvious nod to 2.22 but what I bet most of you didn't know (because what I'm referencing is obscure) is that the circumstances surrounding the A.T field arm is a reference to the finale of a movie called Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris where something very similar happened. Gamera is a giant monster in the same vein as Godzilla. His movies from the 60 and 70's sucked but he got a reboot trilogy in the 90's and it was awesome. Here's the clip of what I'm referencing: watch?v=tErGc4ZZ6M4 And if you think that's interesting then I highly recommend picking up the entire trilogy (mostly because you have to watch the first two movies in order to undersatand Revenge of Iris.) You can buy the entire trilogy on Blu-ray for like 10 bucks on Amazon.
The second thing I want to say is that after re-reading this entire story (partially to make sure the continuity in these last few updates is consistent and partially for a trip down memory lane) I realized that a lot of my writing sucks. I have my favorites don't get me wrong (Chapters 3, 20, and 29 are all good IMO...though I'm obviously biased here) but most of it is...eh. I already knew that but it's worse than I remember, so I encourage anyone that liked my ideas but thought my writing could've been better to do a re-write of the story, you'll probably write it better than I did. Just make sure to give me (and Fanus Obscurus if you're going to keep the title) credit.
