In the spirit of Klaroalypse and KlaroKiss, a new chapter for the New Year. I planned to have at least three chapters done before I posted this but the excitement for tonight override it. No I haven't chosen baby names yet but I'm looking for foreign names with meanings, and pretty too, male and/or female.
Chapter 12
Twins…
Two children…
The Original Hybrid was going to have two children.
He was about to become a father…a provider…a parent to two children.
For the past couple of months he has been burying any and all of the feelings that he had about these children, his children, their children, growing in Caroline, his sweet Caroline. He had been avoiding all of the impending conversations with Caroline in regards to the child for a very simple reason. He didn't want to talk about it. He wanted to think that Caroline of all people would understand that but he was mistaken. The many tries she attempted and failed…there were only so many ways that he could sway her attention before she caught on to what he was trying to do. She was a smart girl that one.
Now those feelings were topside and magnified tenfold with these news.
His hidden fears and insecurities were now flooding his mind with doubt and those insecurities were making him realize that he didn't want Caroline or his children in danger.
Silas was on the loose and he was looking for him.. For what reason, not even Kol and Bonnie had yet found out but whatever reason it was couldn't be a good one. He didn't have the cure and Caroline consumed it so it was gone for good. Bonnie was dead when Silas was looking for him in Mystic Falls, so it couldn't be her that he was after… To say the least, Niklaus Mikaelson was a bit puzzled as to why Silas was after him for, but nevertheless, he was still a threat to Caroline and the children. He could use them as leverage and he knew that if Silas so much as touched a strand of Caroline's hair, Klaus would do as he pleased just to keep her safe.
No, Klaus wasn't going to admit that he would give up his own life for Caroline's and his childrens. He couldn't think in that way. He needed to be there for Caroline every step of the way.
Then there was Marcel and the witches, they still held Hayley hostage with their magic by binding her with the Sophie witch to make sure that he wouldn't conspire against Marcel. Klaus almost believed that Marcel wanted to hand over the kingdom to him and while that would make his life a whole lot easier, he still believed that it was too good to be true and honestly, it could be.
Then there was the doppelganger.
She wasn't causing any trouble and she wasn't getting in his way, but that didn't mean that just because his brother still held a candle for her that he couldn't kill her, not without the possibility of losing Caroline because of it. Every day he had to quell the urge to rip her head off, by reminding himself that she was his brother's woman and Caroline actually wanted her around.
And to put the imaginary icing to the imaginary cake, his brother had gotten even more annoying after being resurrected from the dead. Maybe it was the magic getting into his head or the fact that the Bennett Witch had no interest in him but whatever the reason,he didn't care, the urge to get a dagger, dip it in white oak ash and dagger his brother was crawling into his veins and going to his head, giving him more and more of a reason to dagger him.
Elijah had quietly excused himself from the pair, Caroline had mumbled something in response, and he didn't quite catch while Niklaus had barely flinched at his words and not even an eye moved when he did. He was completely frozen and Elijah had no clue what was about to happen, but he knew that Niklaus would not hurt her so he decided to speak to Katherine about this, but he figured that she would want her payment for escorting Caroline to the doctor for a check-up. He would be more than happy to oblige.
Then, as if there were some higher being that did not want him to be with the woman he loved, Hayley walked towards him in a seductive manner and he knew immediately what she was up to, it would have been laughable if he wasn't annoyed by it.
In hopes of being able to pass her by without having to stop, he sped up his movements, but since the devil was currently frozen on the chair in front of the mother of his unborn children—
He would have smirked at his own joke if only his mood hadn't been soured by this disgraceful werewolf
"Someone's in a sour mood, woman troubles?" she sneered at him and he internally rolled his eyes at her more than lame attempt to get a rise out of him, or any reaction that would give her any benefit.
One in particular comes to mind and how convenient that she stands in front of him right now?
"It is none of your concern" he replied dismissively and made a move to continue on when her hand on his arm stopped him and his other hand just wanted to yank her hand off him, especially before Katerina decided to exit from their bedroom for some reason and meet this distasteful sight. No doubt she would search for a fight that was not worth fighting.
She internally groaned, wondering what was wrong with the man standing before her, like he was above her or something… that has been his attitude the moment she had met him, this holier-than-thou presence almost made her think about that blonde currently pregnant for the thousand year old hybrid.
"Elijah…" she pulled the sweetest voice she can muster and pouted at him, even looked up at him under her long lashes only to be greeted with a bored look on his face.
"Is there something wrong, Hayley?" he asked tightly, as if holding something back.
She wanted to choke him. She just needed to get out of the house for twenty minutes, with Tyler of course and see Sophie. She just needed five minutes with the woman, just to tell her that she is no longer needed and there's a very pregnant blonde bombshell waiting in this very mansion for them to link to themselves to make the hybrid do as they wish because if they hadn't caught on yet, Klaus clearly isn't in a hurry to rip New Orleans from Marcel's grip in an effort to unlink the supposed mother of his child from a suicidal Witch. She just wanted to find her family and instead she ends up pregnant and trapped in a mansion filled with thousand year old vampires, two hybrids, two witches, well a witch and a warlock and a human blonde ray of sunshine. She could leave this town if she could, at this point, this family she had left her to the foster care system without a care in the world so why should she be risking her life and the life of her unborn child in an effort to find the family that obviously didn't want to be found?
"I need to see Sophie" she stated firmly, hoping he'd find some urgency in her tone and maybe take it into consideration, he could come if he wished, she would be more than happy to give a worded message to Sophie instead of outright telling the witch everything. She just needed to be out of his Original mess she's in and prepare for this child. Tyler's family is loaded so they'll live well and possibly somewhere far from them all, including that Caroline.
"You cannot leave this mansion until Niklaus takes back the Quarter and Sophie unlinks you from herself Hayley, you know this" he replied to her plea. Furthermore, he didn't feel like going out for the rest of the day because he would have to go with her if to visit Sophie. He didn't trust this woman, not anymore. She might want to get herself out of her predicament by telling Sophie about Caroline, the very reason why she's being held captive to begin with.
He also didn't want her following him to his room; she might find ideas to do with the location of his bedroom so he flashed away from her before she could make yet another plea to him.
He noticed that his bedroom door was wide open for anyone to take a peek inside to see its contents. He wasn't hiding anything of importance to anyone in this house in his room, but if Katherine was inappropriate while the door was so wide open…
Deciding not to dwell on those thoughts and keep a clear and pure mind, he casually entered his room to find Katherine going through his drawers as if searching for something…
Of course from here she seemed to be snooping through his belongings, nothing dangerous, in fact, it was amusing to see.
He then noticed that she must have found something, he looked as she took up a little black box, with a velvet material and inspect it closely. He knew exactly what that box was and its contents. He had kept it for five hundred years, never leaving without it, keeping it with him wherever he went. Like a good luck charm. Then she opened it. He saw her reaction when she looked inside, she gasped and her eyes grew wide. He watched closely as she picked up the necklace from the little box and looked at it closely.
It was the necklace in which she wore when he had first met her. She was simply stunning. Much more beautiful than the last doppelganger, he dared to think and her innocence, that is what had stolen his heart, it was her complete innocence…no evil glint behind her eye, no ulterior motive to her actions, no harm meant and no lies spilled. He knew she's changed drastically since then but he loves her no less. She has simply grown into a woman far too quickly and forced to make drastic decision far too sudden. Forced to take her own life in an effort to make sure she would not be sacrificed, running from his brother for 500 years to escape his wrath and forced to do anything and everything in order to survive. That is no way to live in his opinion and he had resented his brother for it.
The woman before him does have an evil glint in her eyes, she always has an ulterior motive to her actions, and she always means harm and lies constantly, but never to him. She was truthful to him because he can tell when she lies.
He saw something he thought he might never see in his life ever again from her, a lone tear fell from one of her eye.
"After you ran, you left your belongings behind. In order to find you with the aid of magic, I had to find something that belonged to you, something that you wore and this was left on your bed among the rest of your clothing" he explained, causing her to almost jump and the necklace in her hand to slip to the floor as she turned to meet his gaze.
She then looked down and picked up the necklace, clutching it like it was her life in her hands.
"My mother gave this to me when the father of my unborn child proposed to me" she said, far too softly, hoping Elijah hadn't heard but he did every last pronunciation "He left that night and never returned…" she scoffed.
He walked further into the room "Is it a family heirloom?" he asked.
She nodded "Yes actually. Mother said it signified the beauty of the Petrova women"
He nodded at her words and came closer to her, until he stood in front of her and he delicately pulled the necklace out of her grasp.
"Would you like to put it on?" he asked softly.
She found herself nodding before turning around and holding up her hair.
Elijah gently placed the necklace around the woman's neck and fastened it securely around her neck. She touched the diamond accents on it, feeling the familiar coolness and familiarity to it and smiled to herself. Of all the gifts she had received in the 500 years of her life, this was the first the held true meaning to her.
Caroline had sat there for what felt like days, weeks, months…hell even years; when only minutes have passed. She would know because while she was waiting, she was also counting. She gave up after five minutes and just decided to stare at him until he came out of his moment of shock.
It was taking forever though.
However, the terrified look on his face told her something she did not want to dwell on. She had no clue how Klaus's mind worked so she had no clue what must be going through his mind. He took the news of her pregnancy well, comparing it to what she heard from Rebekah when he heard it from Sophie in regards to Hayley, but at the time, she wasn't looking at him when he ran off. This time, she was making sure to at least try to figure out what he must be feeling. She would try to read the emotions on his face.
Fright…
Nothing
That's it.
He seemed terrified and that's it, which meant that obviously he must not want the child she was growing inside of her and he was probably just keeping her here for some reason she didn't know about.
"Klaus" still, she had to call him, shake him, move him, and kick him, something! This terrified look he was giving her was scaring her and she didn't like it.
His eyes snapped right at her and she had to hold herself in place, almost wanting to gasp and pull back slightly at his eyes.
Suddenly, he gets up and flashes out of the room, proving to her that it didn't matter whether she was aware of it or not, he would have exited the room and said nothing anyways.
She sighed, realizing that she was far too exhausted to even make an attempt to get some answers from him. For that she needed energy and stamina, both of which she did not have therefore Klaus was a problem she would deal with another time.
Suddenly, a whooshing sound entered the room followed by a shriek…
It sounded like Bonnie's.
She looked up and saw Bonnie and Klaus glaring at each other in front of her and she had to give herself time to even take in what Klaus might have done.
He took her and just brought her down here.
"Caroline said that she's pregnant with two children instead of one, can you confirm it?" he didn't mean to ask, he knew she can confirm it, witches have done it before, without a spell, but he was still in a state of shock so whatever came out of his mouth at the moment was babble to him when he do retrieve his senses.
"Klaus I think the doctors know what they're talking about, if they say I'm having twins then I'm having twins" Caroline snapped at him, annoyed that he was questioning the doctors and her of all people, did she go around making this stuff up?
Bonnie sighed, not wanting to get in between one of Klaus and Caroline's verbal wars and looked to Caroline because those machines can malfunction, magic can't, shouldn't.
"Care, the machines could be wrong" Bonnie softly stated "You can't fully trust in manmade technology"
Caroline huffed, annoyed that she was right and nodded at her words.
Bonnie then took a seat next to Caroline and turned towards her. Slowly, she placed her hands on Caroline stomach and moved them around slowly before smiling to herself at the vision she saw flashed in front of her eyes.
"She's right"
Klaus then cleared his throat and fixed himself ready to ask another question that felt completely out of character for him but he really needed to know "Are they safe and healthy?"
Both Bonnie and Caroline's head snapped up at him as the words slid out of his mouth, both of them sported wide-eyed stares at him as if he had done or said the most shocking thing on the planet and he believe he did, but he was to become a father, even though he was praying that day might never come but knowing that it will, he'll blame it on his basic instinct of wanting to know if they are safe and healthy and no harm is coming to them at all.
He also wanted to know if they're human but one question at a time.
Before Bonnie can even offer some sort of response to such a baffling request, she felt a familiar feeling inside of her, crawling into her skin and she turned to her side to see her grams sitting there with a smile.
"He wants to know if they're safe and healthy, Bonnie" she said, sounding almost mocking.
Is my grandmother actually mocking the big bad hybrid?
"Yes I am but I'm already dead so it's not like he can kill me"
Bonnie unconsciously snorted in response, earning a glare from said big bad hybrid.
Bonnie then turns back to Caroline and focuses; she can tell that they're fine, no harm, no sickness or diseases.
"They're fine" Bonnie replies after sometime.
"They will be witches or warlocks, depending on the sex until they awaken the curse that changes them into wolves" Sheila states with a smile but Bonnie frowns and turns completely towards her grandmother.
"That's still impossible, technically they'll still be werewolves and you can't be one and the other, right?" she asked and both Caroline and Klaus were looking at her as if she had a snake on her face or something but she chose to ignore it, focusing on her grams instead.
"Just like Kol Mikaelson who's now a warlock and an Original Vampire?" Sheila mocks with a grin and Bonnie rolls her eyes at her but caught her hidden meaning.
"What is the loophole?" she asked, already knowing that there must be some loophole that allows them to be witches even with the werewolf gene in them.
"The cure" Bonnie is confused because she knows the cure is gone so Sheila explains "Caroline ingested it the night of copulation, it has magical properties, and it makes them able to have magical abilities even with the werewolf gene in their blood"
Caroline was confused and a little worried for Bonnie, because she seemed to be talking to someone but t here was no one there. Well there was Klaus and herself but she highly doubt Bonnie was talking to either of them.
"Bon…" Caroline called but Bonnie ignored her for the moment, focusing of her grandmother and what she had to say.
"Also, tell him that she needs to stay indoors within the safety among numbers"
Bonnie nods and looks up at Klaus "She says that she's safe and healthy and she needs to stay inside among the safety of numbers"
Now Caroline was even more confused "Bon, who's she?"
Bonnie turned around and smiled at Caroline "Grams"
Is it even more possible to be even more confused by that answer…?
"Bon, how can you talk to Ms. Sheila, she's dead"
"That's putting it lightly" Sheila scoffed with a chuckle and Bonnie rolled her eyes.
"Care, you remember what happened to Jeremy after I brought him back from the dead?" Bonnie asked and Caroline nodded, remembering the fact that Jeremy started seeing the ghosts of his dead girlfriends, the reason he broke Bonnie's heart in the first place…
Wait, Jeremy came back from the dead and he can see dead ghosts…
Bonnie and Kol came back from the dead…
"No way, you can see ghosts of dead people?" Caroline asked, in complete shock and Bonnie nodded "Seriously!"
Bonnie giggled "Yes, so can Kol"
"That's awesome, I bet she looks awesome!" Bonnie nodded and Sheila smirked "Wait, you said Kol sees dead people too? Who is he seeing?"
Even Klaus was interested in the answer to this question because he was ready to ram Kol into a wall for not saying anything sooner.
Before Bonnie or Klaus could have any say in the matter, Kol, the devil himself entered the room with a giant smirk on his face.
"Mother sends her best" he said with a smirk, aimed straight to Klaus who growled in response.
"Esther?" Klaus repeated, a tiny hint of surprise laced in his voice followed by resentment and a little bit of anger but he holds his emotions in.
"Do I hear surprise? You shouldn't be" Kol said dismissively.
"To be honest, my immediate thought would be Mikeal"
Kol smirked "If this makes you feel better, that was my immediate thought as well, but it seems that Mother claims to have killed her own husband, for good she claims"
Klaus chuckled "And you believed her?"
Kol's amusement died as he spoke "Of course not, the minute that woman tried to use Finn as a sacrificial lamb in an attempt to kill us all, that trust died a horrid death" he paused as if in thought before continuing "Although if what Bonnie says is true and thinking about someone usually allows me access to see said dead person, then her words might hold some truth to it. I haven't been able to contact him at all"
Kol sighed heavily, glad he was done with the mother/father chat of the day because honestly, his parents were enough a disappointment, he didn't need to relive said disappointment in his mind, especially with said mother on the other side that can see my very thoughts.
"We need to find a way to get rid of Silas once and for all" Kol said with a firm tone of voice, with a silent hint that all talk of Esther and Mikeal is to die instantly and Klaus couldn't agree more, no use in reliving the past.
"The sooner we can kill Silas, the sooner we can find Stefan" Bonnie sighed.
Kol nodded in agreement, although his reasons for wanting the two thousand year old immortal bastard to be dead had nothing to do with his favorite Salvatore and had a lot more to do with the fact that ever since his time with Bonnie on the other side, he cannot seem to think of no one else and every time he tries to make conversation with the girl, or even flirt in an attempt to annoy her, her focus is so stuck on killing Silas that she dismisses his attempts with disinterest immediately, without even realizing it. He would like to believe her rejection did not hurt but it did, more than he was willing to admit, for some reason, the fact that she was doing it unconsciously hurt him more.
Many believe he has a fetish for witches, and that may be true on some levels, but it was their confidence that draws him to them, the power they hold, was exciting to him, and being a former warlock had nothing to do with it, he simply liked powerful women and Bonnie is a completely selfless woman. She gave up her life for her best friend's brother; she does everything that Elena tells her to do and then some. She never tried to kill Damon and Stefan after learning what they are simply because of Elena and in the end; she earned a friend in Stefan. She also brought him back, even if he promised not to kill Elena, she could have easily gone back on her word but she didn't. That kind of selflessness and loyalty was rare.
Caroline's ears picked up the meaning behind Bonnie's words immediately, completely confused by it.
"What do you mean? Stefan is in Mystic Falls" Caroline stated with confusion thick in her voice, her eyes flickering between Kol and Bonnie.
Before Bonnie and let down Caroline easily, Kol stepped in "The man that you claim that is Stefan is actually Silas parading as Stefan darling"
"What?" Caroline was still confused but worried as well, if that was Silas, then where's Stefan?
"Care, when I died, the spell I did on Silas broke and he was freed and Silas did something to Stefan. I don't know if he's dead or not but what I do know is that for an entire summer, Silas has been in Mystic Falls building his strength and pretending to be Stefan" Bonnie explained, before Kol had a chance to.
"Silas won't kill Stefan; he's too evil for that. Stefan might be kept somewhere. The only way for Silas to successfully parade around pretending to be Stefan is to make sure that Stefan was either dead or somewhere else and Silas won't kill him, not yet, which means that Stefan is being kept somewhere."
"But why would Silas be impersonating Stefan of all people, he could have done Bonnie or Jeremy or Katherine or even Elena, why Stefan?" Caroline asked, mostly herself as her mind tried to solve the puzzle.
Bonnie spoke then "Stefan is a doppelganger, Stefan is Silas's doppelganger"
"Inform me again why it is we are in the French Quarter of New Orleans, in search for witches again Silas?" the woman asked as she followed him into the eerie graveyard that gave her the chills…a reason why she does not practice Ancestral magic.
"Because, Adele, you are not a Bennett witch so I need more than one witch do the spell I need you to do" Silas replied dismissively.
"Bennett witches are extinct" she smirked and Silas nodded.
"The very last died to bring back someone to life"
Adele raised her eyebrows with a smirk "Noble of her"
"Indeed.
Silas moved to cross the threshold to the Mausoleum but he was blocked by a barrier and he growled in frustration and turned to Adele with a suggestive eye roll.
She sighed and focused her magic on the barrier and brought it down with ease and dramatically signaled to him that he can enter. He smirked and entered the sacred grounds before entering the Mausoleum in which all witches and their elders stood and chatting among themselves.
"Hello witches of New Orleans" Silas greeted, causing them all to turn around and eye the intruder with confusion.
"Who are you?" Agnes asked, eyeing the woman and the man warily as they continued further into the Mausoleum.
"Forgive me, this is Adele, she's a witch friend of mine I obtained in Peru" he smiled at Adele who bowed dramatically at the witches in front of her, noting that the woman who spoke, were their elder
"My name is Silas" he smirked, taking in pride of the horrified looks on the witches' faces at the sound of his name.
Agnes and Sabine steps forward, ready to make move and put him down, their hands raised, ready to fight this immortal being when Silas entered their mines corrupting it before planting his own wants and needs into it and soon, their hands lowered and they all faced him, ready to take command from him.
He smirked in victory, able to completely control a witch's mind finally.
"So, where's Jane-Anne Deveraux?" he asked, looking among them all.
"Jane is dead" Agnes replied bluntly, causing Sophie to wince in response to the harshness in her tone.
He sighed, why must the witches he need die the moment he needs them "Fine, where's her sister, Sophie?"
As if her legs had a mind of their own, she stepped forward and stood straight, looking right into the man's eyes as they held amusement and determination in them, she feared for her life in that moment.
"You will help Adele with a spell I need. This spell links my soul to another body so that if I die, my soul goes into said body. I am going to need you to unlink yourself from Hayley Marshall, the werewolf carrying the hybrid's child so I can do this spell and link my soul to the child"
Sophie blinks, her fear clogging her throat as her body trembles, she needed Hayley as leverage against the Originals so that they can take down Marcel and whatever power he has that can tell when they're doing magic. They need to find Davina and bring her back here and complete the harvest so she can have her niece back. Her sister died for this, she cannot let her sister die in vain.
"Oh but she will, because I do not care about your harvest, or Marcel or the Originals for that matter, I want the spell done" Silas stated, voice cold and hard now.
"To do that, I'll need Hayley" Sophie states, eyes flickering between Adele and Silas as they smirk.
"Well then, I suggest you find a way to get her here or I'll compel you all to kill each other in the next forty-eight hours"
Their eyes widened as Silas and Adele turns and leaves the witches to their devices, knowing that soon, he'll be ruler above all species, vampires, werewolves and witches.
