11. Chapter 11

So sorry about last chapter's complications and to those people that still actually read it even among all that code, I don't know how you did it but you guys are awesome. Anyway new instalment here and don't forget to review. (Sorry for mistakes and I know it's a short chapter)

Skulduggery's iron grip on the steering wheel increased as the drive back to Gordon's mansion dragged on. His mind would not settle nor did he feel he had the luxury to have a clear head. He had almost killed Valkyrie not to mention the fact that he had thought it was a good idea to unleash Lord Vile of Valkyrie in the first place. What angered him more was Valkyrie's attitude towards it all. She was trying to calm him and make sure he knew it was 'okay' to do that. She'd even referred to Vile as 'him' as if he and Skulduggery held differences like strangers.

The silence carried a heavy weight on his shoulders. She stared out the window, as usual, admiring the ocean and afternoon sky as it settled behind the water. The mix of hues created colours of the upcoming summer. The weather, although perfect, was not doing anything to improve his mood.

Allowing his mind to wander Skulduggery let his usual thought routine happen again. First he would think of Valkyrie and all of the times she had been in danger or hurt. Then he would ask himself a countless amount of questions, some including:

What would have happened if he had never brought her with him when she was twelve?

Would have she been safer, better off?

Does she truly forgive him for all the times he has messed up?

And most of all; what would his own existence have been like now if he had never met Valkyrie?

He couldn't imagine anything would have changed from since before he'd met her.

He glanced at her staring out the window, probably remembering the day's events. He couldn't be sure but her face seemed to hold a hint of a smile, very light.

Skulduggery only knew of very few people who could answer his questions. It was time to pay yet another visit to Cassandra Pharos, he decided.
