A/N: Thank you readers. This should be the last chapter, but as I promised, I am extending this for as long as it makes sense to continue to write this story.

Still learning the ropes for tumbler so anyone willing to tutor me is welcome, I just have to warn you, I may be slow on the uptake.

As usual, I do not own TVD or TO or any of the characters. The story is however from my vivid imagination taking off from TVD 5x11 and getting a life on its own from then on.

Here goes what I hope is another exciting chapter to look forward to…..

The ORIGINAL SIN

Chapter 20

Klaus embraced Caroline in his arms welcoming the sensation of feeling like his whole world was wrapped around the circle of his arms. He captured her lips seconds later told her exactly what he was feeling. The crossing over of his siblings went unnoticed as Caroline and Klaus just let the world continue to shape around them without a care.

Since Esther was still chanting, the siblings just stood to one side. Ulric approached Elijah to give him a handshake which Elijah returned warmly. Elijah's other siblings chose to watch the cross-over of the other vampires as Rebekah and Kol started to organize the vampires. As the last of the vampires had cross-over and the witches were winding down their chants, a lone figure walked past and paused midway before completely crossing-over taking in the sight of the coven of witches. After a few seconds the figure finally fully crossed-over and walking slowly until she spotted her best friend, "Caroline!" the girl tried to call the attention of her friend who was still locked in a loving embrace with Klaus. The girl was a little shocked to see her friend and Klaus together remarking in her mind, 'wow I sure missed a lot.'

Finally the girl saw a familiar figure who had crossed over earlier, saunter toward her and she took the last few steps toward the figure, "thank god it's you," looking from the figure to the couple still locked in an embrace then back at the figure, "did you know about them?" Bonnie asked.

The figure looked to where Bonnie had been gazing then back to Bonnie, "well, that should be a shock but then again, it was bound to happen sooner or later. Come on, let's go say hello to Caroline."

Caroline and Klaus finally stepped out of each others arm but continued to hold hands as they strolled over to Elijah and the man beside him. Elijah faced the approaching couple and stepped away from Ulric giving Klaus the opening for a little privacy. Caroline all but pulled Klaus the last few steps toward Ulric as Klaus suddenly felt the heaviness of his steps and slowed down. Maybe it was the realization that he would finally get to meet his real Father but Klaus was suddenly tense.

It took Caroline's encouraging smile and her entwining her hand with his for Klaus to finally take the step to stand infront of Ulric. Caroline looked at Ulric for a second before she looked back at Klaus and couldn't help but comment, "you really do look alike, no one can doubt that you are Father and son."

Ulric faced Klaus for the very first time and looked at him, "son, I've wanted to meet you for a long time. I'm Ulric, your Father."

Klaus just stared at the man, it was very rare for Klaus to be speechless or even to be caught just staring, but this was one instance where he was out of his element. Finally face to face with his Father, his real Father, Caroline was right, they really did look alike, from the curly dirty blond hair, to the eyes, to the dimples, just like his brother Ralph. He could feel an invisible pull, a werewolf thing that magnified by the second as he continued to stare at his Father. It took a nudge from Caroline to finally break his stare.

Klaus shifted his glance to the hand that was reached out to him and finally grasped the hand to shake but a second later, he was pulled into an embrace by the man infront of him and after a brief hesitation, Klaus returned the embrace warmly. The sensation of being wrapped around the arms of someone other than Caroline or his siblings was foreign to him, especially because for the first time it was his Father that was doing the embracing. He unconsciously tightened the embrace further.

And this was what Esther saw as she finally finished her chant and was out of her trance as she turned to locate Ulric. Esther's first impulse was the put a hand over her heart and breath in the moment she witnessed. She finally found the strength to walk toward her Ulric and their son.

Caroline was looking fondly at the Father and Son still locked in an embrace as she lifted a hand to sooth the back of Klaus who she knew was overwhelmed by the moment. Klaus must have been attuned to the touch of Caroline that he took a step back from the embrace and wrapped his arm around Caroline while his other hand still remained around his Fathers back, he had the feeling that it would take a lot to top the feeling he was having that moment with his Father and Caroline with the child Caroline was carrying in her womb together circled in his arms.

The moment was finally broken as Esther neared them and Ulric, his senses this time attuned to Esther, turned to face Esther and reached out his free arm to her. Esther for her part immediately lifted both her arms around the neck of Ulric then as she stepped out of the embrace, stepped toward Klaus to kiss him in the cheek.

This family moment was witness by everyone around them, Elijah who had stepped back a good ten feet to give them a moment of privacy was now surrounded by his siblings Finn, Kol and Rebekah who were all looking at the their brother Klaus. Everyone with a smile on their faces, even from afar, they could sense Klaus was engulfed with emotions that overwhelmed him. Rebekah even had a few tears that she wiped away but not before Elijah noticed and smiled at her.

Rebekah leaned into Elijah as Elijah wrapped one arm around his sister. "He's complete now," Rebekah commented to her brothers.

Finn while still looking at the family reunion commented, "he's a good man, Klaus' Father I mean. I had the opportunity to talk to him a few times on the other side. It would have been nice if Klaus had met him while we were all human."

Elijah nodded, "maybe it wasn't the right time. But here, now, it has happened." Turning to Finn, "and now you are back with us brother, we can all be a family again," looking at Esther, Ulric, Klaus and Caroline then at his siblings, "all of us."

Kol spotted someone approaching them, "well brother, I think someone is waiting to talk to you," using his head to direct Elijah to the direction of the figure approaching.

Elijah looked to his right, "Katerina…."

Bonnie and the vampire beside her stopped abruptly after taking two steps forward from where they had their own reunion as they saw both Caroline and Klaus walking in the direction of a figure that looked familiar but who they have never met before.

"Do you know the man Klaus is embracing?" Bonnie asked in a voice not quite believing what she was seeing.

"No, But they seem to know each other, can't say I've seen Klaus embrace someone enthusiastically as he's doing now," the vampire answered Bonnie.

They observed the trio of Caroline, Klaus and the unknown man for a few more minutes until they saw Esther's approach. Both eyes widened when Esther embraced the stranger tightly.

"Well that's definitely not Mikael," but judging from the embraces they know one another. And," the vampire turned to look at Elijah and his siblings, "looking at the other Originals, they seem as if they know who the man is too." Turning to Bonnie, "let's give them some time, I'm sure there's time enough to catch up with Caroline later."

Bonnie nodded, "Yah, you're right. But did you notice that Care wasn't amongst the vampires who crossed-over?"

The vampire stared off in a distance then back at Bonnie, "yah, I did, didn't think you noticed though."

Bonnie rolled her eyes, "I was looking for her before the cross-over. Ask a few vampires, but none of them knew or saw her. It's just a little weird that Care wasn't on the Other Side."

The vampire shrugged, "well, we'll get the answers we need soon enough. Come on, let's see who else is around."

Rebekah, Kol and Finn finally approached the quartet of Esther, Ulric, Klaus and Caroline with Rebekah almost launching herself into the arms of Caroline and Klaus quickly grabbing Caroline's shoulders from the back to ensure she wouldn't topple over.

"Really sister, forgetting Caroline and her condition are we?" Klaus reminded his sister.

Rebekah took a step back and quickly asked Caroline, "did I hurt you? How's my niece?"

Before Caroline could respond Kol butted in, "Niece! No niece here, nephew or better yet nephews in the plural." This got Kol and smack on the head from Finn, who shook his head.

"Hey Finn, a thousand years later you still smack me in the back of my head," Kol said as he turned angrily to his brother.

Finn shrugged, "I will do same thing again and again until you learn to behave and grow up. You're right it's been more than a thousand years but you haven't matured."

Esther looked at her children, "children, this is a happy moment, let's all be happy. Rebekah, this is Ulric," as she turned from her children to glance back at the man beside her, "Klaus' Father," Ulric, these are my children, "my only daughter Rebekah and you already met Kol and Finn. I'm lacking another son?"

Kol snickered, "he's over there, forever locked under the doppelganger spell. He's with Katerina."

As if sensing his siblings looking at him, Elijah looked away from Katerina toward his siblings who were now together with his mother. Looking back one more time at Katerina, as if assessing her reaction, he straightened his shoulders, entwined their hands together and led her toward his family.

"Oh lookey lookey, big brother is bringing over his favorite pet," Kol commented in glee.

Caroline and Rebekah caught each others' eye and gave an eyeroll each, before they turned their attention to the approaching Elijah.

"Really brother, still not over that one," Rebekah told her brother as he finally stood in front of her, giving Katherine a pointed look.

Elijah pinched the bridge of his nose, "Bekah, a little support please."

Esther interrupted and stepped forward in front of Elijah then turned to the woman beside him, "Katerina, we meet again."

Katherine had been nervous, but would never admit it out loud, meeting Elijah's whole family again, just stared blankly at Esther. It took Elijah's prodding and a push forward as well as Klaus sarcastic comment, "shy suddenly doppelganger," to give Katherine the confidence to look Esther in the eye and say, "Esther, we meet again."

"This is really quite the reunion," Kol quipped, "Mother, happy to see you again off course," as Kol saluted his Mother, "Ulric," met you before but see you're looking happier now," nudging Klaus with his elbow, "told him a lot about how awful you were as a big brother." Kol turned to Finn, "big brother, have you met my favorite soon to be sister-in-law," playfully raising his eyebrows as he pointed to Caroline.

Finn stepped forward and stretched out a hand and before grasping Caroline hand asked, "may I?" as he kissed Caroline knuckles in an old world gentlemanly fashion, "Caroline, the pleasure is all mine," before Finn turned to his brother, "Klaus, she really is one-of-a-kind," eliciting a proud grin from Klaus.

Klaus looked around and frowned, "where pray tell is the gorgeous Sage? I would have thought she would be by your side brother?"

Finn smiled then lifted a hand to attract the attention of a woman who was busy talking to other vampires who also crossed-over, "she's just giving us some family privacy."

"Oh," Katherine was heard saying beside Elijah. After a few more seconds, Elijah was heard sighing before he told Finn, "call Sage over, it's time that the whole family gets all together."

Caroline turned to Klaus once again smiling, Klaus leaned in to kiss Caroline's temple before positioning one hand over her tummy. "How's the little one?"

Caroline placed her hand over Klaus' hand on her tummy, "this little one missed you. We both missed you, my love." Klaus leaned in once again, this time to capture her lips.

Klaus was smacked in the back of his head and swiftly turned around to search for the culprit."Come on Nik, some of us are positively green with envy the way the two of you are just all over each other. Get a room already!"

"Can't help it that you are loveless little sister. Let's see, Elijah has the doppelganger," he said tastelessly before Elijah interrupted, "she has a name brother," and as Klaus eyed his brother's girl he deliberately said, "Katerina," then glanced at his other brother who now had his girl beside him, "Finn and his Sage, Kol off course is perfectly happy with himself and doesn't need anyone else, even Mother has Father, never thought I would be saying that, ever. But you will find someone dear sister," patting Rebekah on the shoulder.

"Bloody hell, I spotted Bekah's someone!" Kol screeched.

"Where?" Rebekah asked enthusiastically.

"It's a Salvatore and he's looking this way," Kol rejoined.

Everyone looked in the direction Kol pointed. Klaus grunted while Caroline squealed in delight, "Stefan, oh my God Bonnie!" she took a step in the direction of two before she was stalled by Klaus, "my love, you are forgetting something."

Caroline stopped and turned back to Klaus, "oh, they don't know about the baby."

Klaus turned to Rebekah, "Bekah sister, be useful and go over to your Salvatore and tell him and the witch to join us for breakfast tomorrow morning at the compound. Tonight is about family only," glancing around his siblings and his parents for emphasis, "and off course loved ones, so Sage and Katerina can join too. Dinner is at 8. In the meantime, Caroline and I will leave you all. See you all later," with that Klaus took Caroline hand and flashed her back to the compound.

"Alone at last," Klaus grabbed Caroline to him as he kicked the bedroom door closed behind him with the thud.

Caroline had her arms around Klaus' neck breathing him in, "I missed this."

"Klaus placed one hand on the back of Caroline head and the other on the small of her back, pressing her as closed to him as possible, "I missed you too. You don't know how much." He leaned back a bit so he could look into her eyes, "I watched over you from the Other Side. Saw you with Mother and Father, can't quite get the hang of saying that word yet, Father," he tried it again.

"Your parents, they were good to me. Helped me a lot specially because you….don't ever leave me again," Caroline told Klaus, placing both her hands on the sides of his face. "Promise Me."

Klaus sighed, "never again, my love, never again." Klaus leaned forward to gently grab Caroline's thighs as he lifted her to bring her to bed and show her exactly how much he had missed her. As he lowered her into the bed he looked her in the eye and said, "I love you."

Caroline pulled Klaus to here to kiss him but not before whispering, "We love you too."

"A toast, to family!" Elijah spoke.

"…..to family," everyone else answered back with raised glasses.

Esther was seated at the head of the table with Ulric on her right side and Elijah on her left. At the other end of the table, Klaus was seated with Caroline on his right side and Rebekah on his left side. Beside Elijah, Katherine sat and between Katherine and Caroline sat Kol. Between Ulric and Rebekah sat Finn and Sage. Klaus looked around his family and felt that he had never had more peace than at that moment, surrounded by people who completed him. He sparred a second to think about his brother Ralph who was probably watching over them from the Other Side.

Kol was the most boisterous, clearly in his element as he went out of his way to bait Katherine and Rebekah mercilessly. He tried to goad Caroline but was immediately shot him down by Caroline, threatening to not even consider naming her child Kol Jr. Katherine for her part was still getting used to being around all of the Originals and Esther as well as Klaus' Father Ulric. She was however feeling like something was being hidden from her, not quite sure what it was, but she wasn't Katherine, if she didn't sense things like this. The Originals were friendly enough, and by friendly, Katherine meant they didn't acknowledge her at all, well except for Kol, who more than made up for the snub of the other Originals.

What Katherine did not quite get was the preferential treatment Caroline was given. The blond who was used to playing second fiddle to all her friends was paid special attention not only by Klaus, who was so obviously still very much smitten by the blond but by all his siblings and surprisingly his parents, both Esther and Ulric treated Caroline like she was their favorite child. Maybe it was because of the way Caroline obviously held Klaus happiness in the palm of her hand. She did have to give it up to the blond, Caroline did have every single Original including mommy and daddy in her pocket without really much effort.

"This is nice," Klaus said looking around the table.

Esther nodded her head, "yes it is. Tonight is about family but tomorrow, we have to follow through with the commitments we have made for the alliances. A council meeting which you my sons, Finn, Elijah and Niklaus and off course dear Caroline will be attending. Kol and Rebekah, you are all welcome to join the meeting."

Rebekah scrounged her nose, "not likely."

Kol rolled his eyes, "I can think of a thousand better things to do."

Finn looked at Kol, "brother, this is exactly what I was referring to when I said its time you grew up and take some responsibility. You should join the meeting."

Elijah nodded his head, "I agree with Finn, it's time to step up brother."

Kol slouched on his chair defeated, "why is everyone ganging up on me."

Klaus smirked, "it's called tough love little brother."

Esther smiled at her sons, "then it's decided then, all my sons will be joining the council meeting tomorrow night."

Bonnie was holding on to Stefan tightly as they walked through the courtyard of the compound. It was early so there were almost no vampires, witches or werewolves lurking around except for Marcel who stood watch at the front door.

At the approach of the duo Marcel raised a brow, "what is your business here?"

Bonnie looked at Stefan and Stefan stepped forward and said, "we've been invited for breakfast."

Marcel folded his arms infront of him, "Stefan Salvatore I assume?"

Stefan nodded his head carefully, "and Bonnie Bennett, we are Caroline's friends."

Marcel smiled momentarily at the mention of Caroline and it quickly disappeared, "Salvatore, Rebekah has mentioned you before."

Stefan sensed Rebekah was a sore topic, "yes, we," referring both to him and Bonnie, "are acquainted with Rebekah and her brothers. We are from Mystic Falls after all."

Marcel grunted, eying Stefan suspiciously, "well, wouldn't want to keep them waiting then. Come on in."

"Remember my love, the baby. We should approach telling your friends cautiously. It's not yet common knowledge at this point. The baby's safety is the most important thing right now," Klaus reminded Caroline.

Caroline kissed Klaus cheek as they walked through the hallway before descending the stairway, "I know. But I think I know both Bonnie and Stefan well enough to know that they would protect our child as much as they could too."

Klaus inhaled and kissed Caroline's temple, "that I believe. Of all your so called friends, I think those two are the two I most trust with you. And coming from me, that says a lot."

Caroline grinned, "I'm sure both of my friends would have loved to hear you say that it front of them." She looked into Klaus' eyes, "I don't blame you, for Elena and…Damon."

Klaus touched her cheek, "you don't?"

"Elena and I, we have a lot of history together. Hell, we practically grew up like sisters together but," Caroline exhaled noisily, "despite the circumstances, I think she is ok with everything because she is with Damon. In the end, she chose Damon. Now," smiling impishly, "now, I'm thinking Stefan is single and it's my duty as his best friend to find him a match. Hmmm, that goes for Bonnie too." Biting her lip as she stifled a grin, "Stefan and Bonnie, you think that's a good match? Or maybe Stefan and Bekah, Kol and Bonnie? Ohhh, I would ship either one."

"Ship?" Klaus asked confused.

Caroline rolled her eyes, "hello, 21st century has still to catch up with you. Come on, I think they've arrived," pulling Klaus toward the staircase.

"Bonnie Bennett and Stefan Salvatore, well, well, well," both Stefan and Bonnie looked up at the voice. Caroline had her hands on the banister at the top of the staircase and Klaus had his hand on the small of her back.

"Care! Oh my God," Bonnie almost screamed.

Caroline walked down the staircase elegantly as only a former Ms. Mystic Falls winner could but as she reached the last step Bonnie rushed to her and embraced her tightly. Stefan followed a little slower eying Klaus.

"Klaus," Stefan tentatively said.

"Rippah," Klaus smirked.

Stefan rolled his eyes, "this is awkward. Judging from what I saw last night, you and Caroline are together?"

Klaus grinned, "you sound surprised my friend."

Stefan looked at Caroline who was still in a tight hug with Bonnie, "you got the girl."

Klaus nodded slowly, "indeed, I got the girl."

"Stefan Salvatore come over here," Caroline shrieked.

Marcel had been observing the four figures in front of him the whole time. It seemed like the four knew each other quite well, in fact, it looked like Klaus had looked at Salvatore much like he would look at Marcel sometimes, with a certain fondness reserved for friends.

Klaus noticed Marcel, "ah Marcellus, these are Caroline's dear friends, Bonnie Bennett, the witch and Stefan Salvatore."

Marcel nodded as both Bonnie and Stefan who was now out of Caroline's embrace. "Yes, they introduced themselves earlier before I escorted them in."

Klaus stepped forward and patted the back of Marcel, "well, Caroline has too catch up with her friends." Looking at Marcel, "we will catch up later. Much is needed to be done with the alliances. I trust that you will be beside me as usual, my friend?"

Marcel nodded, "off course."

Klaus placed his hand at the small of Caroline's back again as he escorted her to the dining hall, "Stefan, Bonnie, you will both join us for breakfast this way."

Bonnie held on to Stefan's arm as they walked behind Klaus and Caroline.

"Bonnie Bennett, missed me?" Kol hollered from his seat at the breakfast table.

"I don't think I can do this," Bonnie said to Stefan.

Caroline turned to Kol, "Kol Mikaelson do I need banish you from the breakfast table. Bonnie and Stefan are both here as my guests, I need you and everyone else to show them that they are welcome here."

Stefan frowned at the way Caroline chastised Kol, seemingly unafraid of incurring the wrath of an Original. Bonnie for her part has widened her eyes, noting that no one reacted to the way Caroline was clearly bossing around an Original. She really needed to catch up on what was happening. It seemed like Caroline was pretty much at home with all of the Originals. And Bonnie noted that they were all seated down as one family, Elijah, Finn, Kol, Rebekah, Esther and the man who she noticed embraced both Klaus and Esther last night.

"Sit beside me Bonnie," Caroline patted the empty seat beside her. "Stefan would you mind sitting beside Bekah?" Rebekah noticed what Caroline was trying to do and just gave her a look.

"Hello Bonnie love," Kol started as soon as Bonnie sat down. Bonnie moved her seat nearer to Caroline and Kol knowing what Bonnie had done, subtly moved his seat nearer to Bonnie who was seated between Caroline and Kol. Bonnie pointed a finger at Kol, "you stay away from me," before flicking her hand.

"Awww, no need for the reminder that you have your witchy powers back," Kol rubbed his arm.

Caroline looked at Bonnie, shocked. "you have your powers back?"

Bonnie nodded at Caroline smiling, "yup, my grams and some ancestors thought it best to restore my powers, something about me needing them since I was to help you with an important task. Grams mentioned something about your destiny?"

Caroline grimaced looking at Klaus then Esther momentarily, Klaus squeezed Caroline's hand which was above the table for everyone to see, Caroline looked at Klaus once again and smiled, looking at Stefan then Bonnie, "about that destiny thing…..I'm kinda pregnant." Looking at Klaus and squeezing his hand in return, "we are kinda pregnant."

Bonnie could only mouth an "oh…..oh."

Stefan looked at Klaus for confirmation and Klaus smirked at Stefan, "you looked surprised old friend."

Reviews please. Like I said, this doesn't end with Chapter 20 contrary to what I had originally wanted. I hope everyone is happy with the way this story in going on so far. So Kol/Bonnie, Kol/Davina, Stefan/Rebekah, Stefan/Bonnie, Rebekah/Marcel…..inputs please.
