A/N: Sorry for the very long wait had to get back my bearings for this one. This is the longest fanfic I've ever written but I'm enjoying it so much because of the response I have to this fic. This will be a KLAROLINE centric chapter mostly, since this fic has expanded to include so many other ships. I promise more about the other ships in the next chapter.
As usual the characters are not mine, I own nothing.

The ORIGINAL SIN
Chapter 22
Caroline was ruffling the curls on the head of Klaus as he was making butterfly kisses across her tummy. She was really enjoying this new Klaus, unmindful of the gooeyness he was showing everyone. Content to have his Caroline in his arms, the love of his life and mother of his child when stopped his ministrations and looked at Caroline, "Come away with me. I've said it before. I want to show you the world. I think now is the time, before the little one pops out."
Caroline smiled at Klaus, he was really full of surprises, 'where would we go?"
Klaus smirked, "to Rome, Paris, London, everywhere. Anywhere we want to go."
"Ok," Caroline said.
Klaus jumped up from the bed, "ok then," rubbing his hands together in excitement then leaning in to smack her on the lips before practically running out of the room.
"Hey, where are you going," Caroline demanded.
Klaus turned back to her giving her a mysterious smile, "I have to make arrangements for our trip, my love. We leave tomorrow and we will be traveling for a week. I'll leave you to do the packing, pack light love. We will do quite a lot of shopping there," with that he rushed out the door.
Caroline just shook her head, pack light he says. He truly has yet to discover exactly what packing light meant to Caroline. As she threw her feet to the side of the bed to stand up and proceed to the walk-in closet she still had a grin that threatened to turn into a smile. This was the first time she would be traveling outside of the country and there was no one in the world she would rather be traveling with than with her man, her one and only eternal love.
She embraced Esther last after a quick kiss on the cheek from Ulric, "I will miss you," glancing around the foyer, "all of you." Bonnie and Kol, Stefan and Rebekah, Finn and Sage and even Katherine where all there sending her and Klaus off with smiles on their faces. Elijah was waiting outside, the designated driver to bring them to the private airstrip, because of course, the Mikaelsons owned a jet.
As Caroline stepped out of the car aided by her Nik, she finally had her first glance of the jet that was to take them to destiny unknown as far as she was concerned since Klaus had insisted on keeping it as a surprise from her. The staff where busy loading what luggage they had leaving her time for one last long embrace with Elijah before excitedly running up the stairs of the private plane.
Elijah gave his brother one last glance and then a pat on the back, "good luck brother, although I know you won't need it. She will say yes, that I am sure of."
Klaus patted his right breast pocket to remind himself that he was carrying something with him as part of the reason why he had asked Caroline for time alone together. With one last nod to his brother he followed Caroline more slowly toward the plane.
The stewardess was orienting Caroline on the controls of the gadgets built in on board and had ask her if she had wanted anything before leaving her as she noticed Klaus stepping inside the plane. The plane staff had been in the service of the Mikaelsons for years and had known their place. Meaning keep scarce and give the Mikaelsons privacy unless they were intentionally sought out by any member of the family.
Klaus took the seat beside Caroline who was looking out the window as the plane was preparing to taxi the tarmac. Caroline glanced and smiled at him showing her excitement by clapping her hands together. This simple gesture made Klaus' heart swell once again, beyond happy that he had pleased her again and been there with her to enjoy and experience her first time to travel.
Caroline was suddenly nervous as the plane moved ahead grabbing Klaus' hand.
"Don't worry my love, planes can't kill you. If you want too, you can hold my hand the whole time of the flight. It will take awhile where we're going," Klaus told her with a snide grin.
Caroline playfully punched Klaus. "And where might that be? You're being mysterious again."
"Some place for us to build a memory," Klaus said cryptically.
Caroline huffed, put out but not for long as the excitement of the experience topped whatever lingering exasperation she was feeling toward Klaus.
Caroline had finally fallen asleep, the excess energy she had early finally had her drained. She was also falling asleep more frequently, a consequence of her pregnancy. Klaus took that moment just to watch her sleep in his arms. He had missed a few weeks being with her while he was on the Other Side. The time apart from his Caroline had told him he never wanted that experience to happen again. He couldn't, wouldn't voluntarily live another day without her.
He, a thousand year old hybrid, finally tamed by his mate into a life of marital bliss, which indeed he was looking forward to. He had realized during their time apart that there was something lacking, to experience ultimate marital bliss. They actually had to be married. It surprised him a bit that it was him who actually wanted that final tie together. Caroline hadn't been leaving hints that this was what she had wanted, or at least he thought he knew his mate enough, even if she was being very subtle.
He not only wanted it, he craved it. That wedding band around her finger shouting to the world that she was his for the rest of his life and she was his and his alone. It wasn't even prodded by jealousy which he was prone to during his younger years, the years he referred to now as his before Caroline life.
It was plain and simple to him. It was his final act of commitment to the one person who changed his life and brought light to his darkness.
It all started with her as far as he could now deduce. When he met her, there was a pull toward her. Everything spiraled after that. But what he initially thought was negatives, turned out to be the best things that happened to him.
Now he not only had the most beautiful woman beside him. By fate, by design or just plain good luck, he had been given the prospect of having a family with Caroline. He would be a Father in a few months.
He also had his whole family back. They had never been more a family than they were now. His half-siblings were all experiencing bliss themselves or where at least getting there. Elijah had Katherine. Finn had Sage. Rebekah looked like she and Stefan where getting there, and really if he had to pick, he would have picked Stefan to be with his only sister, even over Marcel no matter how good a friend in the end Marcel turned out to be.
Even Kol was settling, a word that he would never have dared associate with his brother before. He and the witch Bonnie seemed to be having the dance that he and his Caroline used to have before. And having lived through it, he knew that dance just led to one direction, it was only a matter of time.
He even met his other half-sibling from his Father side, Ralph. He truly was blessed on both sides.
In the end Esther had come through for him, for them. And she had her happy ending too…..with his true Father, Ulric. It still amazed him how it had all come to pass. He finally meeting his real Father. In the end, he had the best Father role model a man can have.
It all came full circle because he made the journey back to Mystic Falls to find the cure to his curse and ended up meeting his redemption.
It was to be a new beginning for all of them, him, his family, his kind and the supernatural world. And this woman sleeping peacefully in his arms, already a Queen, his Queen, she singlehandedly change the world without her knowing it.
As Klaus closed his eyes to take a short nap before they landed, for the first time in a very long life, he was filled with happiness, joy and overflowing love. It was true, she was his weakness, but more than that she was his strength.
"What is this place?" Caroline looked back at Klaus. She had been starring ahead for a few minutes, lost in the beauty of the place around her.
Caroline had been brought here by Klaus. She had raised a brow earlier when he all but dictated to her what to wear, which apparently Rebekah had packed for her. Made her wear the bracelet he had given her so many years ago. And now, she was here. In a place where apparently there was only him and her.
Klaus finally stepped forward and had his arms around her. "this is a favorite place of mine. No one, not even my siblings know of this place. It is where I go to, in my solitude."
Caroline turned around to look at Klaus, "a secret place."
She took a few steps again away from Klaus leaning dangerously on the edge of a hanging balcony that overlooked a private beach. "I've always loved history, especially stories about ancient civilizations and cultures. My favorite has always been Greece, stories of the Gods." Turning around the face Klaus again with her arms spread out.
Caroline ran back into Klaus' arms, "I love it here. And I love you!"
Klaus leaned in to kiss her tenderly on her lips then leaned back. "We have two more days here. Where I get you all for myself since you can see, you can[t be distracted by shopping. Civilization is miles away. Then we leave for our next destination," Klaus smirked again since he was keeping the next stop a secret too. "For now, can I persuade you for a stroll along the beach below, my love. I had dinner set up there for tonight."
All in all, it was the best four days of her life with Klaus so far, a highlight in her not so long life. All of the best moments of her life included memories with Klaus, the day she found out she was with child, the day she admitted to herself she had fallen in love with him and the day Klaus walk into her life.
He had not only showed her something that was very private and personal to him, his sanctuary in Greece. But he had also brought her to Paris, the City of Love, where together he had indulged her to shop until she almost literally dropped.
They were now on their third country destination and had settled in Venice, Italy. Klaus had made sure she experienced the gondola ride, and it had made her squeal with delight. Bonnie had apparently shared the information that it had been on her bucket list to ride a gondola with the love of her life.
Every day he had been the perfect tourist guide to her showing her site and places and sharing his stories and experiences with her. Every night, he should her how much he loved her, pleasuring her until she thought he couldn't best the night before anymore.
The man was really full of surprises, and she had almost missed out on her life now had she not listened to her heart and gave in to the not so gentle push of Elijah.
It was now the sixth day they were traveling together, Klaus had brought her to England which was where the magical place Stonehenge was located. It was one of the most ancient places in the world said to be as old as 5,000 B.C. and thought to be an ancient burial site. It should have been a eerie place. But she could feel the power of the place, the supernatural spirits where present in full force. She could sense them, she was partly a witch after all. They had risen very early to view the sunrise from this place, the dawn of a new day. The burst of the colors of the sunrise surrounding them was helping create the magic to the place.
As Klaus guided her toward the center of the structure she could feel energy consume her. Klaus was looking at her with so many emotions in his eyes. He reached out for her hands and entwined them together pulling her gently to the center of the circled structures.
"Caroline Forbes, I have lived more than a thousand years. Lived a very long life cloaked in the darkness. You know my story. I never truly believed I belonged anywhere. Much as Elijah had always constantly reminded me that I had family, I had him, Kol, my sister Rebekah and even Finn," who all magically just appeared behind Klaus catching Caroline by surprise momentarily distracting her, but Klaus continued, "there was always something missing. Then as fate would have it, I found myself in Mystic Falls to undue a curse but instead I found you. My sunshine, my hope, my light, immediately I was caught under your spell."
Klaus placed his hands on her cheeks as he continued, "you were unlike anyone I have ever met before. And believe me when I say, I have encountered a lot of different people before you. You intrigued me, scoffed at me, rejected me, me, the most powerful being in the world, the Original Hybrid."
"Your friends," gesturing to her friends who were now all behind her, "they believed the worst in me as did you. I was in a very dark place until you came into my life. It took a lot of patience on my part, something I was never known for to show you that you were different, unique, that there was nothing ordinary about Caroline Forbes."
"Caroline Forbes had brought the most powerful being on his knees with just one look, one smile, a laugh. You are extraordinary and I chose you, only you, first and only."
"The day you finally threw away your resolve and showed me what it would be like with you in my arms was the day I experienced heaven. Despite you making me promise, I had hoped that it wouldn't be the last I see of you. I had made you a promise that I intended to keep after all, the promise to be your last love."
"And as I stand before you, in front of my siblings, your friends, my Mother and Father...your Mother," Esther and Ulric had moved forward by then and so did Liz Forbes, just a few feet away from them, "all of them my witnesses, I have never been happier. I am finally complete. You are my mate, the Mother of my child, the Queen of all of us. The love of my life. And as trivial as it sounds, I want one more thing from you if you will allow it."
"Caroline Forbes," Klaus went to kneel down and brought out a box from his breast pocket, "will you do me the honor of marrying me, being my bride and taking my name," Klaus unhurriedly open the velvet box as he looked up at Caroline who now had unchecked tears running down her cheeks but was smiling with pure joy.
Caroline pulled Klaus up with all her strength and embraced him tightly before she peppered Klaus with small kisses while shouting repeatedly, "Yes! Yes! Yes! I will!"
The chorus of congratulations, claps and shouts were lost on both Klaus and Caroline as they continued to be lost in each other. When they finally settled down, Klaus took out the ring and inserted it on Caroline's ring finger.
