The Ex
Things were quiet at the loft; they had been quiet for days now since the kids were in school. Of course it was only Johanna Martha and the twins that were in school all day besides Sarah Grace. James Royce was in the morning kindergarten class like his sisters and brother had been so he would be done with school around lunch time.
But for now it was just Castle, Beckett and Martha having some coffee together after the kids had gone to school. They had done this every morning since school for the kids had started back up.
Beckett had taken some time off for when the kids started school. Beckett had asked Gates to keep tabs on the 54th while she was off. Ryan and Esposito were on their paternity leave.
The morning had good so far. It wasn't until this morning that Martha had notice the new addition to her daughter in law. The trio was at the island counter; Martha and Beckett were sitting with their backs to the living room while Castle was standing opposite of him.
"What's that on your wrist; Katherine?"
Castle and Beckett smiled since they were the only who really knew the significance behind Beckett's Always tattoo.
"Well?" Martha pressed.
"It's a tattoo."
"I can see that; dear."
"Kate has the word Always on tattooed on her left wrist; mother. It's our way of saying I love you."
Martha was the one smiling now as she realized the sentiment behind the tattoo and why her daughter in law had it put on her left wrist.
"Where's yours; Richard?"
Martha knew her son quite well and knew that he wouldn't pass up the opportunity show his love for his wife.
"Don't worry; I have it where it should be."
The night before Beckett got to see exactly where Castle had his Always tattooed on his body.
Castle and Beckett smiled as Beckett placed her left hand on her husband's chest right where his Always was. When Martha saw this; she knew exactly where her son had the tattoo; it was right above his heart.
The moment was then interrupted when the doorbell rang. Martha answered it.
"Richard; your ex is here."
Without looking Castle and Beckett knew which one of Castle's ex-wives had decided to drop by.
