A/N: Just realized that if this were the series, I could have finished a season of the series and ended it with the proposal, Chapter 22. Consider this a bonus Chapter then, I am still contemplating if I will do a follow up story after I conclude this story with this Chapter. Maybe you guys can help me decide….

Some of you might ask me to extend this, but, I have a new fanfic featuring our favorite TVD/TO characters entitled "Fanatic", totally AU/AH featuring our favorite couple, Klaroline (will the TVD/TO EPs just let them happened already, pretty please), so I might not be able to do double work. A sneak about the new story follows after the conclusion of this one below.

I hope everyone was happy with how the journey ended. Since, this is the longest one I have written I would like to thank everyone who patiently read, left inspiring comments & reviews, made the story a favorite and followed and just generally tolerated the story.

As usual the characters are not mine, I own nothing.

Read on and share the love...

The ORIGINAL SIN

Chapter 23

..fast forward to six months after….

"I hate you Nik for making me do this here! I need a hospital, a proper doctor. I get to do this one time and you insist on not doing this properly!" Caroline screamed at Klaus.

"My love, we talked about this. You know it's impossible for you to birth at a hospital. Even if we can compel everyone there, it's really safer to do this here. We don't know exactly how our child would enter this world," Klaus held steadfast to her hand despite her bone crushing hold.

"Oh my God! Oh my God!" Caroline was exhaling loudly and making oh sounds coached by her mom Liz who was by her side. As was Esther and Bekah.

"Time to push sweetheart," Liz told her daughter. She had her hand on her daughters' temple gently brushing the sweat off her forehead, Esther and Bekah where on ready to birth the child.

The others were scattered all around the compound. Klaus' siblings Elijah, Finn and Kol chose to stay in the parlor with their loved ones Katherine and Sage together with Stefan. They were vampires after all they could all hear what was happening upstairs.

Ulric had chosen to stand outside the door of the bedroom, quietly pacing. It was his one and only grandchild that was to be birthed in a few minutes after all. Bonnie was seated in the corridor watching him pace the floor. She had been asked to be nearby just in case her 'witch' powers were needed.

All the others were not allowed to enter the Mansion. Marcel and Klaus' werewolf clan had stood guard outside all the entry ways of the Mansion, the rest of the supernatural contingent where all outside the Mansion but within the compound all awaiting the birth of the future king of the supernatural world.

It was a highlight for the community. Many have traveled just to witness and hopefully get a glimpse of the newborn.

Klaus and Caroline had opted to be as transparent as they could with the copious beings. They thought the more forthcoming they were, the safer for the child. They would rather have the child looked upon as a child of the supernatural community than a threat to it.

Caroline had finally been resting after a long labor. The child was a product of two very strong and stubborn parents, and rightfully so, the child was just as obstinate, refusing to make the delivery an easy one.

The child was now resting peacefully in his basinet. Klaus was presently dividing his time sneaking glances between his wife, Caroline and his son, who was still unnamed as of yet. He wanted to wait for Caroline to be conscious enough so she would name him officially.

Tears had escaped Klaus as he had held his son for the first time just a few seconds after he had been born. He had been handed his son by his mother Esther, after she had quickly cleaned excess tissue and blood scattered around the baby's body.

Caroline had passed out almost immediately but not before he had showed her their son. She had a happy smile as she closed her eyes exhausted.

His son already had a few hairs on his head, dirty blond like his. His son also had his nose and mouth. But the eyes were purely Caroline's. He smiled proudly as he allowed his siblings, Caroline's friends and his parents and her mother to fuss around his child. Already his child was charming his way into the hearts of everyone. He had yet to be shown to everyone else who was not considered family.

Just before he retired to his and Caroline's room carrying his hour old son, Liz Forbes, Caroline's mother had pulled him aside.

"A word Klaus," Liz told him somberly.

Klaus inhaled and readied himself for the long overdue talk he was to have with his mates mother. Feeling a little out of his depth was rare for him, but this was Caroline's mother, although she had remained human, she was still the one of the most important people in his wife's life. If only because Liz Forbes had given birth, given him his love Caroline, he would be as contrite and respectful as he could or at least try to be.

Still carrying his little son with him Klaus directed Liz to a quiet corner of the corridor that contained a two-seater.

"You have quite a handsome son," Liz spoke first.

Klaus looked at his son with love, a fact that was not lost on Liz. "Yes, I would like to take credit for his looks but," looking at Liz with a smirk, "I think he takes after his mother." He exhaled deeply, "I just hope he got more than her features from her."

Liz tentatively reached out a hand to squeeze Klaus' thigh, something she would never have to have thought to do before than moment, "give yourself some credit. My daughter has always been a great judge of character. Despite what he all saw, she saw something else in you. She chose you much I think you chose her."

Klaus' reaction was to place a hand over Liz' "thank you, coming from you that really means a lot."

Liz searched his eyes, "when I first found out about this, I was shocked. Caroline didn't really much when she left all those months ago except to say in a letter that she needed to find her soul and follow her heart. I didn't really get what she meant at the time, but I always trusted her to be able to fend for herself."

Klaus nodded in agreement, kissing his son in the temple before bringing his attention back to Liz.

"Elijah came to me a few days before your scheduled proposal. He shared a lot of what had happened since Caroline left Mystic Falls. Most of what I heard then was very hard to swallow, I will admit. But you have a very loyal brother in Elijah who loved you very much and wanted your happiness," Liz continued.

"Although I spent a few days with you in London, we had not really had the time to really sitdown and talk. I think, this would be the perfect time for it. You are a father now, you will understand what I need to say to you better now," Liz smiled at him.

"Your family, they are your priority now. I had not always followed my own advice, you know our story. But, I hope you learn from it. Take care of my Caroline, take care of your son, my grandson. I only have a few good years left in me and I have no desire to prolong my life. When the time comes, you need to be there for Caroline. Be strong for her," Liz wiped a tear that escaped.

"She had you now, her son. Your siblings, your parents, who by the way have been unexpectedly quite normal. All of you will be her family now. A couple of years back, I would dare to say this to you but, I can see everything clearly now. You brought out the best in her as much as she has redeemed you. You are the best thing that ever happened to her. Love her for eternity, my son," Liz finished this time tears run unchecked.

In a move that was not so foreign to him lately, "he stood up with his son still in one hand, he circled his other arm around Liz, "thank you, I can't say that enough. You give me the greatest gift anyone has ever given me in bringing Caroline into this world. I will love her for eternity, love them and protect them with my dying breath. They mean everything to me."

"Nikolai Henrick Forbes Mikaelson," she kisses her son's nose giggling.

"I think he likes it, my love," Klaus repeated Caroline's action, this time kissing Caroline's nose.

"Nik, we will be the best parents to him. In the face of the world he was born into, he should have as normal a childhood as we can give him." Both Klaus and Caroline heard everyone fusing around their son downstairs without much difficulty, they had superior vampire hearing after all. "Well at least as normal as possible considering he is grandson to the Original Witch and Father Wolf, maybe my mother's genes would balance that off. But then you have your siblings all Original vampires who would probably spoil him to death…."

"And protect him with their lives….if it comes to it," Klaus rejoined.

"A direct descendant of vampires, werewolves and witches, wow! That's our son, Nikolai Henrick, Nerik." Caroline looked at Klaus in wonder, as if realizing it just now.

"And every single one of the supernatural beings would bow down to him and protect him with their lives too," he kissed Caroline deeply before continuing. "You were my redemption, you saved me. Our son, Nerik, he is the redemption of our kind, he will be the best of us, of all of us."

As Nerik was presented that night to all supernatural beings who were present that night. Brought to the balcony and lifted up by his father to the cheers and claps of the beings in the compound below. Caroline looked around the faces of the people who were with them in the balcony, his parents Esther and Ulric beside her Nik, her mother Liz beside her, the only human present tonight. Around them were Elijah and his Katherine, Finn and Sage, Kol who stood alone but not quite far from her friend Bonnie, and Rebekah and Stefan.

On the steps leading to the balcony from the open grounds below, Marcel stood, a few steps below him was Davina who was looking at a young vampire who's name she missed at the moment with what looked like adoring eyes.

And below them, in the open grounds was a collection of beings crowding. She had never seen so many beings gathered in one place until that night. Witches, werewolves, vampires, other beings, all of them congregated together to celebrate the birth and witness the first viewing of one of their own.

Because Caroline realized, as much as Nerik was her and Klaus' son, he was a child of the supernatural world. Klaus was right, every single one of the beings present here tonight or somewhere else, each one would take the act of sacrifice, their life for Nerik's, as a privilege. He was as much their son, as Nerik was hers and Klaus'.

And it was a celebration that continued for days… topped only by the wedding of Klaus and Caroline a few months after.

What happens in the future may be unclear, although the seers and soothsayers predict a 1,000 years of peace and tranquility. But what was clear as that the journey of this young family, Klaus, Caroline and Nerik was just starting…

The End

SUMMARY

AU/AH. Caroline Forbes was a worldwide phenomenon until a stalker with a fatal mission to end her life stalled her. Enter her savior Klaus Mikaelson who had made it his personal mission to save her but didn't count on falling in love with her.

PROLOGUE

Caroline Forbes was a worldwide phenomenon. A 22 year old Singer and Actress, who had gone from small town girl to the toast of Hollywood in a span of two years, she was who every girl wanted to be and every guy wanted to have.

With success came a price. A stalker had been sending her threatening notes. Usually this wasn't really considered unusual, when you are on top of the world, you get a few obsessed fans. But the escalation into fantasies of what this particular stalker planned to do and his written conviction of how he was sure it was only a matter of time scared her handlers enough to seriously deal with this threat.

First, her road manager got in touch with FBI for the risk assessment. Not quite satisfied, her management team recommended a private security firm to handle a scaled up security around her which has now brought Extreme Risk Management and Security Services (ERMS) to their door for a meeting this afternoon.

ERMS was owned by the siblings of the wife of her business manager who also became a close friend, Rebekah Mikaelson-Salvatore, wife of Stefan Salvatore.

FANATIC

Chapter 1

"You don't actually believe that, do you? I mean, it can't really be that bad can it?" Caroline asked her manager, Stefan Salvatore.

"Care, bad or not. We are not taking a risk with your life. If someone out there is intent on killing you, and harming you, we are not just going to sit around and wait for it to happen. This added security is necessary," Stefan insisted.

Caroline huffed, "and how much disruption would this cause. How much invading into my day to day will they actually be involved in?"

Stefan shrugged, "as little as possible. We already sent them a brief and copies of the letters, they are suppose to present a plan of action. That's the reason we cut your tour short and rescheduling everything. This is imperative. I cannot stress this more Care."

"Listen to him for once Care. Between us girls, he is rarely right. But, this is one of those times he is. Besides, it's my brothers you will be working with and the team they assign. It's going to be a little easier than working with totally unfamiliar people. They should be here any moment now," Rebekah patted her leg.

Stefan stood up and whispered something to Katherine Gilbert, Caroline's road manager before Katherine walked out the study. He then turned to the two blond girls, "they are here."

Rebekah stood up and walked toward the foyer of the house, "let me let them in. I haven't seen them in awhile."

Stefan walked over to Caroline, "your life and safety is more important than a concert getting cancelled or a movie that we have to say no to. Right now, it's the only thing that matters."

"My brother-in-law couldn't have said it better. I take it you are Ms. Forbes, I hope we could have met under better circumstances. Elijah Mikaelson, at your service," Elijah introduced himself with a handshake before proceeding to do the same with Stefan.

"As you can see, I have come alone. My brother is flying in from London. We had business to wrap-up. You will get to meet him in a couple of days." He opened his leather bag and brought out some folders, "may I," he asked before sitting down and directing the others to do the same, "we have reviewed the documents you have forwarded to us. And Ms. Forbes, I will have to agree with the initial assessment that this threat on your life will have to be taken seriously."

Caroline exhaled heavily as Rebekah squeezed her hand as she sat beside Caroline right in front of both Elijah and Stefan.

Elijah continued, "my brother and I have talked, our recommendations are, we will have a team providing personal security for you 24/7 until this threat in neutralized. We will be bringing in our Alpha team for the task, fresh from an assignment overseas." Opening a folder to bring out photos, "the team, Matt Donovan, Marcel Gerard, Bonnie Bennett, Jeremy Gilbert and Enzo, as he likes to be plainly called. Since this is a special case, as a special favor to our dear sister, my brother who is co-owner of the firm, will be heading the team and taking personal responsibility for setting up the details of this operation. I would have volunteered to do this myself, but we all agree my brother is the right man for the task. This is more his expertise."

Stefan eyed Caroline for a few seconds before turning to his wife then his brother-in-law, "Klaus? Well, this will be interesting…."

Rebekah glared at her husband, "I think this is perfect. Thank you brother, won't you keep me company for dinner? Caroline and Stefan still have a few matters to discuss and they always take a while, not that I'm complaining."

"It would be my pleasure sister," Elijah stood up. "Ms. Forbes, Stefan, I will be back in a couple of days for the final briefing with my brother."

"Thanks man, I appreciate this," Stefan told Elijah. Caroline only nodded at Elijah. She hadn't really met any of Rebekah's family. She only knew that they all were born and raised in the UK but the business takes them worldwide. Although from what she gathered, this Klaus had done several military related exercises in the US and has been more familiar with this side of the world compared to his brother Elijah.

It had only been yesterday that Caroline had the seriousness of the threat really sink in on her. But it still did not prevent her from enjoying some of her down time.

She had been about to cross the road, burdened with shopping bags on both hands before she stepped into the road but not before checking if it was clear to cross the street. The sudden movement at the corner of her eye, a car escalating in speed aimed for her had her frozen in panic as it was unexpected. She had read about it, that moment of turmoil, when your body had stopped functioning refusing to follow the command of your brain. And everything was moving in slow motion.

The arms that suddenly were around her, wrapping her body racked in tension and shielding it from the harsh heat of the road that she was suddenly found herself lying prone against as the speeding car drove by.

She should have been flying in the air, misplaced by the grueling assault of the car ramming her head-on, but not of that had happened. Instead, she was encircled in the arms of a body that was on top her hers. A scent unfamiliar but yet not unwelcome, eyes that when they finally met hers, green blue ones versus her blue ones, looked like they stared into the very depths of her soul.

When the boy finally moved, and the heat that was enclosing her lifted. She wanted to protest. Her savior when she was finally upright turned out to be one of the, if not the most pretty guy she had ever seen. And the smirk he was giving her as he took out his shades and blocked his oh so beautiful baby green-blue eyes from her view, it almost felt like she had gone to heaven.
