Back in the Groove
Things were definitely feeling like they did back in the day. Beckett was writing what they knew so far about their murder victim on the dry erase board. Ryan and Espo were checking into the people the victim knew and financials. Castle on the other hand leaned back against one of the desks that were behind his wife in the bullpen.
Beckett had just written the victim's name on the dry erase board.

The good ol' days were back even if it was just temporary. When Beckett got the call about the murder; they called Martha to ask if she'd take care of the kids while they worked the homicide.
Castle had spouted theory after theory from the minute they left the crime scene. Beckett couldn't help herself. She was rolling her eyes at her husband while she had a Cheshire cat grin on the inside. After all this time; Castle knew exactly what was going on with his wife on the inside.
"Hey. What are you doing home?"
"Facing my mortality. All this curse stuff has got me thinking... if something were
to happen to me; you'd take good care of Alexis, right?"
"Oh, of course."
"Better than you took care of me?"
"Oh, please. You turned out fine. Look, look, look, the chances of this curse being real are almost nonexistent. You know that."
"Maybe. What kind of father would I be if I didn't do everything I could to make sure I stick around?"
"Well, then I think maybe we should try to figure out a way to, uh, reverse the curse- you know, the mummy equivalent of my running around the theatre. Someone at the museum must know that."
"You have become very wise in your old age."
"Watch it, Buster."
"If something were to happen to me, I want you to watch out for Alexis. She looks up to you, and if her boyfriends get frisky, you can shoot them."
"Nothing's gonna happen to you."
"But if it does..."
"Okay."
"And would you also go into my closet and get rid of my porn collection before she finds it?"
"Don't worry; bro. I got you covered on that."
Ever since they had their four musketeers the thought of something happening to one of them was always in the back of both Castle and Beckett's minds. It came to the forefront of their minds since the crime scene.
Beckett turned around and caught her husband staring at her butt just as he had when they went undercover to the night club and countless other times. Before Beckett could say anything to Castle; Ryan interrupted the moment between them like he had so many times before.
With that Ryan filled Castle and Beckett in on what he had before Esposito came over to do the same thing.
As Castle and Beckett listened to the guys they could both tell that it was hard for both of them to be away from the babies.
"Why don't you guys take an early lunch and go see those babies?" Beckett said.
Espo and Ryan protested but Beckett insisted.
"Guys there's no point in arguing with her, believe me I know. She'll win no matter what." Castle stated.
Beckett gave Castle her look once again.
"Tell Lanie and Jenny; I'll check in later." Beckett called as the guys grabbed their jackets on their way out.
"Remember when we were like that?" Castle asked.
"Yeah. We are still like that a bit."
With that Beckett kissed her husband. They didn't worry about the rest of the precinct knowing about their relationship like they worried about when they first got together all those years ago. Everyone at the 54th knew they were married by now and the people in power at 1PP had been perfectly okay with the relationship since the duo had the case that involved Castle's number one fan that shot him. After the kiss the duo returned to working the homicide.
A/N: Here's to the next 100 or the next 99; math was never my strong suit. Let's see if I can get this to 200 chapters; hopefully I reach 200 before Season 7 of Castle ends.
