Roles Reversed
"You didn't have to take the day off." Castle said as they cleaned the kitchen up from the kids breakfast and the coffee they had.
"I know but I wasn't about to leave you here to mope all day while I'm at work."
Beckett wanted to continue her sentence when a thought came to mind.
"Hey, Castle."
"Where are you?"
"I'm … at work. Why?"
"You said you were bringing home dinner."
"Yes, on my way home."
"So when are you leaving?"
"Soon."
"When soon?"
"Like in … half an hour?"
"Fine."
"We don't need a repeat of your birthday from 2013." Beckett teased.
"Cute; Kate."
With that the duo spent the day together; doing things together that both of them wanted to do.
They picked James Royce up from school when he was done for day. Then the trio picked Johanna Martha and the twins up when their school day was over. The family had some time together. Until Castle and Beckett got a call from Alexis and Jake just after dinner.
Castle half expected the phone call to be in same category as the time when Alexis told him that she was moving in with Pi. Castle hoped it was as extreme as that was.
