Moment of Truth

Beckett and Alexis had made their way to one of the local bars. They had considered going to the Old Haunt since it was essentially their bar; but there were too many people there that would tell Castle what they heard and that was something that Alexis didn't want. So they went to another bar; one that no knew who Richard Castle was and that the women walking into the establishment were his wife and daughter.

"What did you need to talk about; Alexis?"

Beckett already knew what was going on or at the very least she had an idea of what was going on with Alexis. When Alexis didn't order a drink like Beckett did; Beckett's suspicions were somewhat confirmed.

After their drinks arrived at their table it was time to let the truth out.

"What's going on; Alexis?" Beckett asked her daughter again.

"I'm pregnant…"

Beckett could instantly tell that there was a bit of unease when her daughter said she was pregnant.

"Congratulations Alexis…" Beckett said as she hugged her daughter.

"Thank -you."

The apprehension was still there.

"What's wrong? You should be thrilled about all of this."

"Raising one parent is hard enough, I don't know what I'd do if I had to raise two."

Alexis' admission to her father from the time that Meredith said she was going to move back to New York replayed in her mind.

"It was hard raising one parent; raising a baby is going to be like raising Dad all over again."

There was a pause before either of them said anything.

"Raising this baby will be different than raising your Dad. I promise. Besides you'll have the entire family to help you and Jake. This baby will be loved especially by his or her grandfather."

With that Alexis imagined her father spoiling the baby rotten just as he had with Alexis and with the kids.

"Now all I have to do is tell Dad."

"Yeah."

With that the ladies left the bar and headed back to the loft.
