Later, Timon and Shenzi were hunched on a rock next to each other, ashamed of their actions.
"Ohh," His Ma came up to them, "Aw, sweetie."
"We're never gonna fit in here," Timon said, "Nobody even likes us."
"Sure they do, honey," Ma assured him, "Sure they do!"
"Besides you, Ma."
"Uh, besides me? Well, you have each other! And um, there's uh…"
"We have to find our place," Timon started pointing out.
"But it isn't here." Shenzi finished for him.
"Yes it is; you just haven't found it yet," Ma assured them, "But we will." She started combing Timon's hair again, "Oh, here's an idea: You two can run a trail…"
"Enough with the hair already!" Timon exclaimed, getting impatient as he walked away with Shenzi. "Our place is out there, Ma. Oh, I may not know exactly where or how far, but we've gotta go!"
"No, wait, wait, wait. I know. If we just..." His mother started, but was interrupted.
"Ma," Timon cut her off pointedly.
She stayed silent, until she decided to let them go through with their plan. "Well, I hope you find what you're looking for, honey." The pair turned back around as Timon went over, and embraced her. "Ooh. Ooh, I love you. Mmm!"
"I love you, Ma."
Shenzi smiled at the scene, until after a couple seconds, she heard a crack, which she widened her eyes a bit at.
"Ma… choking, not breathing!" Timon told her in a strained, muffled voice, but she didn't hear him. "And people wonder why I have issues," He said to no one, before she let go of him, and they held each other's hands. "We'll be okay!" He assured her.
"Oh, I know you will! You will," She said wistfully. He slowly let go of her hands, walked up to Shenzi, and they started walking away into the sunset, side by side. "Be careful!" Ma called out to them.
"We will!" Timon yelled back in assurance, before he and Shenzi marched a bit further.
"Don't talk to strangers!"
"We know, Ma!"
"Remember, wash behind your ears!" Timon rolled his eyes in annoyance as they stopped, Shenzi giggling a bit.
"Ma, I'm not a kid anymore!" He yelled before they continued.
"Never go swimming without a buddy!"
"Got it!"
"Send us a message!" They heard Ma yell to them, but it was almost completely inaudible.
"Oy," They rolled their eyes simultaneously in exasperation. "WHAT?!" They yelled at the same time.
"I said, send us a message!" She yelled again, but it was still inaudible.
"WHAT?!" The pair yelled again.
"I said, send us a…!" They heard her yell again, but just waved her off, giving up.
"Goodbye, Ma!" Timon exclaimed before they continued walking.
"And so, with high spirits we boldly ventured off where no meerkat and tiny hyena had dared to go before," Timon started narrating, "We put our past behind us, ha!" Soon, the day turned into nighttime in the Pride Lands, where the pair stopped at a tree. "And never looked back..."
Suddenly, Timon burst into tears, while Shenzi watched awkwardly.
"Mommy, mommy!" He exclaimed before full-on sobbing, "What are we doing?! Which way should we go?!"
Then Rafiki came hanging upside down from the tree. "That depends on what you seek," He told them, as they jumped back in shock. Then in the audience, the movie was paused.
"How convenient," The meerkat remarked, "Enter omniscient monkey, right on cue."
"Well, you know what they say: When the student is ready, the teacher appears," Pumbaa quoted.
"That's it; no more fortune cookies for you," Timon decided before playing the movie.
"Hey, where'd you come from?" A baffled Shenzi asked the monkey, who laughed in response.
"Oh, the better question is, where are you two going?"
"Oh, someplace wonderful, mister, where..." Timon started earnestly "Where y—You didn't happen to catch the song we sang a few minutes ago, did ya?"
"I didn't have the pleasure."
"To recap: We want to live in some beautiful place, outside… a carefree place where we don't have to hide or worry," Timon told him.
Rafiki jumped down next to them. "Whoo! Hoo hoo hoo! Life without worry. You lovebirds seek Hakuna Matata."
"Harpoon a tomata?" Timon said, ignoring the "lovebirds" remark.
"Hakuna Matata," Rafiki said again, "It means "no worries.""
"Perfect! Mind taking that stick of yours and drawing us a map, bub?" The meerkat asked him, but he smacked them both on the heads with his stick. "Ow! Hey!" They exclaimed simultaneously.
He then went into his meditate pose. "To find it, you must look beyond what you see."
"What the heck is that supposed to mean?" Timon asked him.
"It means, look beyond what you see!"
"Beyond what you see!" The meerkat imitated him, earning giggles from his friend, "Ha, get a load of the monkey, getting' all existential on us. Beyond what I see," He started looking in the distance, "Hmm… beyond what I see… beyond what I see," While he was looking, the music started getting louder with the suspense. "It's kinda hard to think with all this music," He remarked, and it stopped. "Beyond what I see…"
He then saw Pride Rock in the distance, and it started getting to him. "Oh, wait a second. It's comin' to me. It's either that slug I ate, or I'm having an epiphany! We're going to the big, pointy rock! Right?" They turned to Rafiki, but saw that he was gone.
"Who was that strange monkey?" Shenzi wondered aloud.
"Ah well," Timon shrugged, "Dream home, here we come!"
(A/N: The original movie and its characters belong to Disney. I couldn't resist adding in the "lovebirds" part. X3 I always love the part where Timon was like "WHAT?!" and "WHAT?!" then "Goodbye, Ma!" It never gets old. XD)
(A/N: Sorry I posted the wrong document for this chapter. My bad. XD)
