Astrid's POV
I woke up in odds arms with my eyes hazy. Where was I? Guilt flooded through me as I realized the last thing I remember was bring in someone else's arms. I looked up into odds eyes and he smiled at me. I hugged him tightly and we stayed like that. When we finally pulled apart I realized we were in the scanner room. Alex lied unconscious at hHe other side of the room.
Before Odd could say or do anything I reach up and kissed him quickly. He smiled even more but then Yumi and Ulrich came out of the scanners.
"Hiya!" I said weekly and Yumi smiled brightly. Ulrich laughed releivr and out of exhaustion I rested my head on Odds chest. Odd said something to Yumi and Ukrich but I couldn't hear. It was kinda a haze now, like all of my energy had been drained in that thing.
at some point I think Alex may have woken up but I didnt have enough energy to lift my head up. Odd carried me upstairs to the others and after a few words that I didn't catch he carried me into the elevator.
Being careful not to be seen he carried me back to my room and place me in the bed. Good thing I still have my pajamas on. He pulled the blanket up to my neck and I fell asleep immediately.
i woke up at around eleven the next day. What time was it's hen I came out? I got up to see Aelita missing from her bed, well it is eleven. My stomach growled loudly and I laughed. Well self how bout a shower before food.
i went to the empty locker room and took a nice hot shower. Afterwards I dressed myself in jeans with a long sleeve shirt and a jacket. I slipped on my nedklace, but only the half a heart didn't seem right. I picked up the locket that was almost identical to the odd gave me and put it on too. I felt cold and unnatural there, unlike Odd's which felt familiar. Oh well, it's better than nothing.
i walked outside of the dorm and glance longingly toward the cafeteria. Maybe they'll have a croissant left. I walked into the cafeteria and was lit up when I saw a chocolate one left. Thank the heavens. I grabbed it and bit into it graciously. I headed outside with my mouth full and looked around. Where is everyone?
i walked into the woods and headed naturally go the hermitage. Aelita might be there, or someone. When I got there it was vacant just like always.
"strange" I muttered, "where is everyone-ack!" I broke of as something jumped onto my back side. I fell to the dirt and laughed at kiwi barking happily beside me. "Well at least there's one face around here!" I picked up kiwi and headed back to campus.
Well at least I know now odd is still here, he would've left without kiwi. Suddenly it occurred to me that everyone could've gone home. I guess Aelita could've gone with Jeremy. I but my lip as a wave of sadness washed through me. Then I shrugged, they've got their own families, no reason to stick around for me. When I made it to Odds dorm I dropped kiwi off.
They aren't in here either, another place to check off. Maybe I'll check the factory. Once again I went back into the wolds an this time I found something more than kiwi.
"Odd you said he'd be easy to track down!" Ulrich's voice said and suddenly I thought of kiwi curled up on Odd's pillow, oops.
"Well maybe we need to split up even more, kiwi never goes far." Odd said, even more!? Double oops.
"We already split up into groups of two, face it your dog was eaten by sissi or something." Ulrich said and I had to cover my mouth not to laugh. I caught a glimpse of them passing my way and I pressed up against a tree. I picked up a stick and as they were passing by I rattled the bush next to me with it. Then I made a soft bark, kinda the way kiwi does when he's tired.
"Wait! Shhh." Odd said and they froze. What should I do next. I could hear them creeping up on the bush and I quickly swerved around the tree when they both dove into it. Noes my chance, I said and quietly started to creep away. Clumsily though, I stepped on a branch and the crack resonated through the two boys trying to get untangled. I turned and bolted and hid behind the nearest tree.
"What was that?" Ulrich asked.
"Kiwi on Steroids?" Odd said curiously and I couldn't resist from a laugh.
"That's sounds suspicious, don't you think?" Ulrich said mischievously. Oh great I blew it.
"Yes almost like two girls who aren't looking for kiwi." Odd said, wait what? I peeped out from my tree to see Odd and Ulrich turned the completely different way. Then I saw Yumi and aelita with wide smiles.
"That wasn't us genius." Yumi said and I Quickly his again so they wouldn't see me. This is a large tree huh? Wait a sec, this is an odd way they paired up. If Yumi and Aelita were together and Ulrich and odd, William and Jeremy must have be paired. But wait, wasn't Alex there too? Cold dread washed over me. What happened to him? I peered out again and swallowed hard. Did they trust him?
"Oh I know, you recruited the white one didn't you?" Odd said teasingly and I but my tongue, luckily Yumi and aelita knew how to fool someone.
"What do you mean? Last time I checked she was still knocked out. Probably your noxious feet got to her." Aelita said and I I almost gave my position away. I suddenly fel a strong urge to be with Odd alone. Thankfully the gods somewhere answereed my prares.
"Well we've been searching for a long time. Why dont we head back and look later. It's not like anyone's here to catch him." Ulrich said and Odd shrugged.
"you guys go. I'll look for a few more minutes." Odd said and the others walked away. When they were gone I walked out from behind the tree and ran to Odd.
"Odd!" I said and ran into his arms. He was surprised but kissed me back when I pressed my lips to his. Thinking back I never really got to properly thank everyone.
"Astrid! Your awake!" He said when we pulled apart and I smiled.
"yeah, how long was I out actually?" I asked and Odd looked away.
"About a week." he said and I blinked. Had it really been that long?
"Wow, really? wait what about Alex? What happened to him?" I asked and Odd just smiled lightly.
"He's here, he signed up to go to school here since, you know." Odd said and I panicked. No, Alex is ten years older than this! But by the uncomfortable look on Odd face I instantly knew what he was thinking.
"Oh that's...strange, awkward at the very least." I said and Odd cracked a smile. "Aaaaanny way let's go do something with the other, I have way too much energy!" I said and pulled Odd along. He laughed and I abruptedly stopped.
"Oh I forgot something!" I said and smiled in that, I didn't do anything, way. "I found kiwi about an hour ago and put him in your room.." After I said it his face was just, it was so funny.
"Astrid! Why didn't you tell me an hour ago!" He said and chased me back to kadic.
"Maybe if you hadn't been roaming the woods I would've found you!" I said laughing and I sprinted toward the others when I spotted them near the vending machine. I almost didn't have time to notice Alex standing there. Ignored it and kept on laughing and Yumi spotted us.
"Astrid get ready!" She said and I instantly knew what she meant. Odd was still chasing me full on but we had a plan. Yumi drew away from the others who were watching with laughter and got on one knee. Odd was right behind me but skidded to a stop as I got to Yumi. I placed my hands on hers and jumped. She helped vault me into the air and I landed on the roof above the vending machine.
"ha." I said to odd breathing heavily. He sighed and smiled at me and I laughed.
"Astrid how are you going to get down?" Ulrich said and I froze.
"uh, Yumi?" I said nervously and she shrugged.
"I just wanted you to scare him. You chose to go on the roof." Yumi said ans surveyed my position.
"Well..." I said pausing and then straighten my back. "Obviously you should form a human stair way down." I said with a fake fancy accent. We laughed and Alex walked over. H was easily the tallest out of everyone and could practically touch the roof.
"Here why don't you jump onto my shoulders." He said and I shook my head.
"No thanks, there's an easy way down actually." I jumped not the vending machine and slid off that. Odd catching me around the waist before I hit the ground. Alex looked between me and Odd but kept a poker face on. I told Odd thanks and then was pummeled by a hug from Yumi and Aelita.
"We were so worried about you." Aelita said and Ulrich nodded.
"thank you guys." I said and put my hand in Odd. I glanced over quickly at Alex but he did nothing, just kept the same unreadable expression on his face.
"You really should think Einstein and Mrs. Einstein. They stayed working on it for days." Ulrich said and I blinked again.
"Days? How long was I in there?" I asked and this time Alex answered.
"Four or five days." He said and I addressed him properly for the first time.
"How long were you in there?" I asked and he looked away. Fine.
"Anyway why don't we go out for some lunch together!" Yumi suggested and we all agreed.
"that sounds great, Just please not that Chinese restaurant again. I personally don't want to be spending my days by a trash can again." I said clutching my stomach remembering the time I got sick from that place.
"Agreed!" Jeremy said and we all started walking out of kadic. I stopped suddenly when I saw two girls walking into kadic from the gates. Who would come now? Our two week break is really almost over..
"Ahh! Oh no! How many days of break do we have left?" I asked and odd stopped too.
"Uh...i think we have four." He said and I slapped my hand to my face.
"Next time I go unconscience for a week it better be during the school year!" I said and Odd laughed.
Later
We were back at kadic for Jim to check on us and then we ran to the factory. Jeremy thought it would be a good idea to try and check out xana's base, the place where I was, more thoroughly now. Odd and the others didn't want me to go back yet but I said it was fine. Still there making me stay with Jeremy for now. I shrugged it off but was a little miffed.
I sat down with my back resting against the wall listening to the others. Eventually Jeremy called them back in when they couldn't find anything. I wonder why it was only open then, I shrugged and stood up when they climbed up the ladder.
"Well that went smoothly." She said referring to the many problems they had encountered. I laughed and nodded. Soon we'll get there though!
Hey guys! I betcha weren't expecting this huh? Yeah I know! Yay me! I got it out pretty quickly compared to my last few. Okay though here's my question. I would like for you all to read this please. I'm thinking of starting a kinda side story. I might do a crossover with another series soon, an dim going to try and keep posting each as frequently as this one. I don't know though, it could be a complete failure. But I just want to let you guys know that's what ive been working on, well not really, I've been speculating the start. Anyway opinions on that would be great! No pressure though I'll do it either way. Anyway i hope you like this kinda laid back chapter and thanks for readings this!
