I ran into the class room and sat down in my chair just as the bell rang. Oh thank goodness, I made it! I caught my breath after sprinting here for my room. I slept in late on the third day back from break.
"You know there's a thing called waking up." William said and I rolled my eyes. The teacher set out the clay making things as usual and I got to work. I'm almost done with the replica locket I made for Odd.
"There's also a thing called sleep, I don't seem to be getting enough of it lately." I said and smiled at the finished locket. I just need to fit it around the chain and I can give it to Odd.
"You shouldn't stay up all night, Jeremy and Aelita can do research on their own." He said and I shrugged. At night I was helping Jeremy and aelita find an antivirus for Aelita.
"If I can help then I will." I said and yawned. Geeze maybe I do neyed more sleep. I dug through my bag and retreived the chain that I bought from the jewelry store. I threaded it through the thing on the top and clipped it together.
"You ve been working on that all year, what are you going to do now?" William asked and I smiled.
"I don't know. Hopefully we'll switch to another art thing." I said, we'll be starting something new soon.
I went up to the teacher to ask if I can have some of the wrapping stuff he supplied for us. I picked out purple and yellow and then wrapped the locket carefully. When the class ended we headed to the next set of classes that we have.
"they switched it up again." Odd said and I looked at him confused. Trying to hide the locket. I haven't told him about it yet.
"what do you mean?"
"The classes, this next period is going to be all about a certain partner that your paired with. We're going to work on it for the rest of the year, and then enter it in a contest near then end of the year." He said and I smiled.
"I hope we get to choose our partners." I said, last time didn't go so well for me and Odd.
"I doubt that, not like it happened last time. But it's good to hope for it." He said as we casually walked down to the classroom.
"Yeah, hmm. Wonder what we're going to compete for." I said and odd shrugged but smiled. We hadn't had any xana attacks since that last one so I'm happy. We walked into the regular classroom that we normally go to. There he told us about this history contest where we can do a skit, website, or essay. I smiled at the thought, I love history.
Odd's POV
i smiled as I held Astrid's hand on the way to our class. For once I hope we can live just like regular students. Ones who don't have to watch their back for Xana attacks every second. But, then again I do love it. Xana brought us all together as a group...im getting way to sentimental.
The gold locket weighed down my pocket and I slipped my hand in. I spent the time that astrid was resting to search for it. I found it in a ditch near the hill she lost it on. I plan on surprising her with it later.
We walked into the classroom to see the others already sitting down. We sat down and joined in on the conversation.
"We're going to sector five later today to gather data for Aelita's anti virus. Also we're going to plan some things with Alex, to get into Xana hideout." Ulrich explained to me and Astrid. She tensed.
"Why are we going to talk to alex?" She asked and Aelita winced lightly for her. It must be hard for Astrid to see him. I don't like him much myself though.
"He knows the most about the layout of xanas hideout." Jeremy said unsympathetically and Astrid sighed.
"Touché. Anyway what do you think the project we be on?" Astrid asked. Yumi and William were in a different class for their grade.
"I think it's about-" Ulrich started to say but was interrupted. Mrs. Hertz came over and ushered for astrid to do something. She nodded and headed o the classroom, waving goodbye to us.
"lucky." I said as the class started.
Astrids POV
I walked down the hall to the office. lucky me, I had been chosen to show a new kid around. I wonder who he is? It would be Alex...no he registered while I was resting. Other than that I don't know who he is.
I walked through and saw a guy my age in a hoody, with jeans and tennis shoes. He has brown hair a green eyes. He looked over at me as I came in but then looked away.
"Ah," said the woman at the desk. "Your here, Please. Show him around the school for a for today and guide him through your classes. You two have the same schedule show it should be fine." She said and then stood up to get something in another room.
"Hi." I said cheerfully and held out my hand. He didn't shake it. "Mt names Astrid what's yours?"
"Eric." He said softly and I smiled.
"Nice go meet you. Come on. Ill show you around the school after class but right now class is starting. You don't want to miss it." I said and he Smiled lightly. A sudden pained rippled through my head and I cringed.
"Are you okay?" He asked as I put my hand on the wall for support. Where do I know that face? The pain cleared to a dullness and I shook it off.
"Sorry, I hit my head earlier. Anyway, whats your last name?" I asked and he shook his head.
"I don't have one." He said and walked out of the office. Whoops, touchy subject.
Eric's POV
She walked out after me, her white hair flowing behind her. I wonder what was up with her head? She just suddenly clutched it for a second. I let it go and followed her as she led me to class.
My name is Eric. I came to this school mostly because A: it's a boarding school, so I won't have to deal with my father, and B: I had good enough grades to get a scholarship.
You could say I had a tragic back story and stuff like that but really it's not as bad as others. My parents adored their first child, my brother. He's about ten years older than me and off living on his own now. I'm fifteen by the way.
The only problem was that when my parents had me, they weren't excited. They had only wanted one child, and one child only. You could say I was less than tolerated around the house. On the bright side I've gotten pretty good at sneaking and getting out of bad situations, theyre not the best qualities I could pride myself with, but it's something.
"Are you staying here, as in at the school, or are you living at your house?" Astrid asked and I looked down. On another note I had never really taken to having friends when I was growing up. And with a lot of pointless arguments with my parents, I don't know how to talk to people. Basically I'm shy.
"Here." Was all I said and she smiled. She opened the door for me as we arrives at the class.
"This is our class. I'll show you to our next one but after that we're free for the day. My friends and I will show you around campus." She said and walked in. She went to the back of the class and I walked in after her.
"Mrs. Hertz, this is the new student Eric." Astrid said and the teacher, Mrs. Hertz I'm guessing, came over.
I looked around at the class and a few people spotted my attention. A girl with pink hair, whispering to a boy with glasses and blonde hair. A boy with brown hair and a boy with blonde hair...with a purple...Nevermind. But they were telling Astrid something and she nodded. I'm guesssing they were her friends.
"Mr. Eric please take a seat somewhere. Your lucky you came just as we were assigning partners. Anyway this will work in the same sense as the art class did. I will come around with a bucket full of names and you will pick one." She said as I sat down in an empty desk at the edge of the room.
She walked around the room while everyone else started talking. I slipped out a book and started reading. I sometimes stole a look at the group Astrid went to but they seemed to be talking about something serious. I just paid attention to my book.
"Eric, pick a name." Mrs. Hertz said and I pulled out a name. I was about to flip it open when I stopped.
"Mrs. Hertz, may I work on this alone?" I asked and she gave me a quizzical look. She paused for a few seconds and then counted the people in the room.
"Im sorry Eric, there's an even number of people so one person would have to work by themselves as well, and thats not fair to them. Now who did you pull?" She said and I opened my slip.
Astrid Hax
Her name was written in fancy letters and I sighed. Well what are the odds. The only person I know at this school I get paired up with.
"All right, Astrid? Your working with Eric." Mrs. Hertz said before jotting something down in her notebook. Astrid looked up and disappointed flashed across her face. The. She looked at me and smiled, suddenly cheered up by something. I turned away stiffly and scowled. I could work much better by myself.
They started talking again and I returned to my book. I've got to work hard. I've got to be successful and make a lot of money. I can help my family financially. Maybe then, they'll be happy I was born.
Williams POV
Me and Yumi came out of the class room paired for the same project the others were doing. I was happy that me and Yumi got paired together...but for some reason my thought kept drifting to astrid and how she was fairing.
I shook myself and kept walking with Yumi. We were heading to lunch to meet up with the others. For some reason though, I thought the only one I loved was yumi but..augh! Idiot she and odd are dating and I don't think they are ever going to break up.
"I wonder how the others are fairing." Yumi said surprising me. "I wonder if they got paired together. It would be way too unfair if Jeremy and Aelita were paired together again, if they can find xanas hideout together, who knows what they'll do in school together." Yumi said with a laugh.
"Yeah, I know Astrid and Odd want to pair up, poor Ulrich!" I said and she laughed. Up ahead we saw a guy with brown hair heading toward the cafeteria.
"Eric! Wait up, do you even know where the cafeteria is?" Astrid called and ran up to catch up with him.
"I'm heading where every one else is going." he said flatly and Astrid shrugged.
"Fair enough. Anyway come on, the foods not gourmet but it's pretty good. Of course you've got to get there fast." She said and waved to us when she twirled to face him and walk backwards. The. She turned back to him and kept telling him about things around the school.
Astrids POV
I was happy that I got paired with Eric, let me just pint that out. Of course I was sad that I wasn't paired with odd, but if it had to be anybody I'm glad it was him. We walked to the cafeteria together and I had to run after him when he left the classroom. This guy is fast just so you know.
When I sat down with the others I watched as Eric sit at a table by himself. I caught his eye and he looked away quickly.
"Astrid I know what your thinking but no." Jeremy said as I opened my mouth.
"But he's all by himself! Come on for once let's not worry about him over hearing Xana conversations and act like normal high schoolers! Wouldn't you want a friend? Besides it's not like we haven't learned not to spill it accidentally by now." I said and Jeremy thought about it.
"But if we become friends with him then he will eventually find out." Ulrich said and I took that in. Eventually...but not today.
"Wait, guys check this out." Jeremy said and opened his laptop. "I think we have a xana attack on our hands." he said and I tensed.
"Why haven't we noticed it yet?" I asked and he shrugged.
"So that either means that Xana is being a wimp today or..." Odd started but then a shower of glass fell on our table by the giant window as wolves broke through it.
"Or that!" I finished and shook the glass out of my hair.
"We need to get to the factory!" Odd said and helped Aelita up. I picked up a chair and slammed it into a wolf as it lunged for us.
"Go! Me and Astrid will cover you guys!" Ulrich said and we nodded to each other as we shared a looked. The others nodded and ran out of the cafeteria. I looked around at my screaming classmates.
I hit another wolf before seeing Eric head into the kitchen. He came out seconds later with a big slab of meat. I instantly knew what he was trying to do...I also know that if these wolves were possessed by Xana he would not have much luck.
"Ulrich they only want us! Let's get out of here so hey don't hurt anyone else!" I said and he nodded. We started backing away out of the cafeteria and outside while the wolves snarled and stalked us.
The other kids had all left and a few teachers hung back to help us. Well every kid except Eric. He still had the meat and was hoping to coach the wolves to him.
"Hey pooches!" He called and they turned at the insult. Me and Ulrich shared a look and I ran over to Eric.
"Just get out of here. Trust me you'll get hurt!" I said and he looked at me sharply. Ulrich knocked one away from us with a chair.
"And you two won't!?" Eric asked and followed our idea with the chairs.
What exactly is he trying to prove!? He cant win so why wont he run? As I thought about it I whacked one away from me with my arm but his teeth caught my hand. Blood sprayed onto my face and I let out I gasp of pain.
"Astrid!" Ulrich called and started to call them over to him. If Eric wants to be the hero than fine, but doing it this way won't keep him alive long enough to do so.
"I'm okay Ulrich!" I said and kicked one away. I looked over at Eric who was still here and sighed. I grabbed his hand and pulled him over to Ulrich.
"Where are we going?" He asked and I looked at Ulrich.
"Rock climbing."
Odds POV
We ran into the sewers and through to the factory. Then we slid down the wires and landed on the ground. I still felt bad about leaving those two but I know they can handle themselves...still.
We'll just have to get through this tower quickly. We went into the scanners and came out on lyoko.
"Where's the tower?" Yumi asked
"Due north, straight ahead actually." He said and we started running.
eventually the tower came into sight. "What?" I said "No welcoming committee?"
I looked around still even as Aelita went into the tower but nothing happened. It's strange when everything silent like this. I fired a shot at a boulder and regretted it once I did.
Eric's POV
We ran away from the wolves, leading them into the schools gym. After they were all in there I locked the doors behind the wolves so they couldn't get out.
"Now what?" I asked as I circled back around them, knocking one away with my foot.
"Now, we climb." Astrid said and pointed to the top of the climbing wall.
"Great." Ulrich mumbled but started climbing after knocking a wolf away. I went up after him and Astrid came last. I have to admit it's not a bad plan but not the easiest. good thing I can climb.
When all three of us reached the top, Ulrich with trouble but made it none the less, I looked down at the wolves.
"There's no way they can get up right?" Ulrich asked and I looked at him like he was an idiot.
"Do you see anyway?" I asked and he scowled, clearly annoyed at me.
"Just get away from the edge." Astrid said quietly and I scooted back.
"I know I already asked this, but now what? Do we just sit here?" I asJed
Astrid frowned, probably thinking of the best way to answer. "Probably, anybody got a cell phone?" She asked with a shrug and Ulrich held out his.
Astrid flipped it open but it didn't come on...she closed it and tried again. Once more, Ulrich took it back and tried this time but it wouldn't turn on.
"Do you have one?" Ulrich asked and Astrid looked like she was debating between laughing, crying, shaking her head, and throwing the phone to the wolves.
"Not until I can buy it myself." I said and looked away.
"Look we'll be fine. It's not like they can get up here. Eventually someone will find us and call the wild life people facility crew thing" Astrid said encouragingly.
we stayed silent and counted that as a good reason...until we started sinking...
Williams POV
Odd Yumi and I spent the next ten minutes trying to fight ten blocks... he hit the boulder 30 blocks came surging around it and we all gained the look of pure terror.
"Aelita's almost acting slow today but it should still work." Jeremy said and we didn't reply.
eventually, though, after we defeated them (that took awhile btw) Aelita deactivated the tower.
"Alright Einstein bring us home with a return to the past Please" odd said but Jeremy didn't say anything.
"Sorry guys but it looks lIke we're in more trouble than it seems." He said and I resisted put my head in my hand.
"What do you mean?" I asked and aelita popped out of the tower.
"There's another one due south of here." Jeremy said and we all groaned. We got on our vehicles, though, and sped toward the second tower...will the others make it this long?
we came upon the tower and Aelita disappeared inside. I told odd not to shoot any rocks this time and he rolled his eyes. This time Aelita deactivated a tower and Jeremy set off a return to the past.
Astrid's POV
Currently the three of us were hanging on for dear life off of the ceiling supporters. When we started to sink we grabbed on just in time before the climbing walled fell over onto the ground. Apparently, it was inflatable...I did not think about that possibility.
"Next time we go rock climbing." Ulrich started but didn't finish. It was hard work for all of us hanging onto the ceiling.
"Yeah yeah." I said through gritted teeth and focused on the roof. Don't look down don't look down. you won't fall, just hang on! If there is one the I am most afraid of, it would be heights. Lucky for me we ended up in just the situation to test whether I can handle it.
"Wait" Ulrich said. "The wolves fell over."
"Great so when we become splats of human pancakes we won't be devoured by wolves, great." I said and then realized what they were hinting at.
sure enough a bunch of white light engulfed us just as I was slipping. I closed my eyes and when I opened them I was standing outside of the office with Eric. I fell to the ground and started breathing heavily.
Well perfect timing eh return to the past? I j
was just hanging for dear life, fighting wolves, climbing walls...I'm pretty sure my deodorant Has run out. Eric looked confused for a second but then kneeled beside me. He looked awkward as I caught my breath.
"What happened? You just collapsed and...your hand? How did that happen?" he asked but I didn't respond. My hand was still cut and my arms still felt dislocated...just any regular day right?
I caught my breathing and stood up. I turned away from him and sighed.
"Look it's hard to explain. I have asthma for one thing, thanks by the way. And for another thing we've got to get to class." I said and started walking to class. He stood there confused but got over it. Afterwards the day went on like it had before.
After lunch I showed him around and we went to our final class. Then I finished showing him around and collapsed in the bed. Astrid you smell like sokkas socks, take a shower.
then I got up, took a shower, brushed my teeth and combed my hair, all without opening my eyes. Then I fell asleep side ways on my bed.
Hey guys! Sorry I didn't post, I had some bad writers block. But my friend from camp helped inspired me! Eric is and OC dedicated to her. Also I want to ask everyone what they think of Eric. We'll get into his back story throughout the series and unlike my beloved of Astrid, it will take some work for him to be accepted by the group. Another thing, do you guys like the first chapter and such? I'm thinking about rewriting them but here's the deal. If I do chapters will come out possibly even slower than they are now. However if you guys feel like they are fine I'll continue with it like that and try my best to update as frequently as possible! This could be the one and only time I ask you all to review. I want your opinions to make this story better! Thanks, love always!
