Noël
Christmas was alive and well in the city. All of New York was blanketed with snow from the last snow storm that came barreling in a week or so ago. The kids had off and had spent days playing in the snow. Beckett had spent the time that her kids were off of school thinking of some things.
As much as she had enjoyed being the captain of the homicide unit at the 54th; Beckett missed being a detective at the 12th with Ryan and Espo. She missed having Castle around while she worked a case. Beckett would discuss this with Castle after Christmas. Today was about the holiday and family.
"Ah ha! Found it."
"Dad, you should toss that. It's getting kinda gross".
"Toss cookie angel? No way. You made this for me in first grade with your chubby little hands."
"Darling, could you pick me up an extra bottle of aquavit for our Glögg?"
"An extra bottle of hundred proof? You're not tampering with our secret holiday recipe?"
"No, no, no. I was going to make an extra-large batch to take with me Christmas Eve caroling. Oh, it'll be after our Christmas dinner. You don't mind, do you?"
"But it's Christmas Eve. That's when we open the gifts."
"Maybe we can open them in the morning."
"In the morning? Mornings are for stockings."
"Well, I think… I think what Alexis is trying to say is that she has other plans, too."
"Just with a couple of friends. It's…"
"What friends? What plans? What is happening to our family tradition?"
"Dad, I think you're kind of overreacting."
This Christmas; the cookie angel that Alexis had made when she was in the first grade and the cookie angels that Johanna Martha and the twins had made.
Things got a bit interesting shortly after Alexis and Jake arrived. Alexis was six months pregnant with Charlotte and Siobhan. Seconds after arriving it looked like Charlotte and Siobhan had other plans when it came to Christmas.
