Chapter Thirteen
Lifting morale and ancient answers
Fox yawned and changed the channel on the TV but soon turned it off and looked over his shoulder. Scattered here and there in the rec-room were the other members of his team. Falco sat the bar looking board, Amanda sat at her digital piano playing some tune that sounded melancholy rather than joyful. Miyu and Katt sat at the table playing cards but both of them were distracted, Krystal sat in a corner her nose in an adventure novel but one look at her told him that she was not enjoying it.
I guess getting our asses handed to us took a toll on us all. Fox thought feeling guilty as he remembered the ambush he had led them into. It had only been a few days since Sector X, but the fight had been one shaken them to their very souls. After a while, Krystal rose from her seat and walked over to his side then curled up next to him. Fox put a hand on her shoulder and leaned his head on hers, her scent filled his nostrils melted his cares away.
Finally, a brake in the gloom! The atmosphere in here is so depressing I feel like I'm being smothered.
Yeah, morale has hit a low, I think we should call you know who.
I already have and she's bringing Cyrus with her, hopefully that will brighten the mood!
Fox nodded smilingly. It will. Whenever Roxy happy her mood spreads through everyone she meets, It's like a sunny day or song that makes the day better!
A moment later Roxy came through the door with Cyrus in tow. Roxy wore a frilled silver tank top, black leather pants, blue three inch high heels, and a bright smile. Cyrus wore a black tank top, with a stripped casual dress shirt, light blue jeans and tennis shoes.
Cyrus made his way to the piano and tapped Amanda on the shoulder. "May I?"
"Uh sure, go right ahead." Amanda replied a little surprised. She rose the bench and Cyrus took her place and played some bluesy jazz which seemed to have no effect at first but as the song went on Fox noticed Katt tapping her toes, Falco closing his eyes and looking more relaxed than he had in a long time, even Miyu smiled and kept time by tapping her fingers on the table top.
It's working! Fox thought excitedly.
And their just getting started. Krystal said.
Did you ask Cyrus to come down here too or did Roxy just drag him into this?
I didn't ask him because I knew he wouldn't come he's a lot like Falco or you in that regard. So I had Roxy convince him to come along. He's just as pent up as the rest of us but you, Falco, myself, you and everyone else have ways of coping but Cyrus is a civilian the only fights his been in are the brawls and tournaments. Do you remember how you felt after your first battle?
Fox didn't respond but then again he didn't have to no solder ever forgets their first battle.
Cyrus needs to learn to open up and let go or else his fears and bitterness will consume him and that could have repercussions beyond what we can imagine.
Krystal and Fox watched as Cyrus played his song to its conclusion then joined the others in applauding Cyrus for his wonderful performance. Cyrus rose to his feet and gave a small bow. " Thanks guys and thank you Amanda, it felt great to play like that."
"Was that Rhapsody in Blue?" Katt asked, looking over her cards.
Cyrus nodded his head with a small smile. "Yep, it's one of the few pieces I have memorized and honestly it felt like the right time to play it. Just the right blend of hope, longing, sadness, and joy."
Just then, Roxy spoke up. "Alright now Classical mixed with jazz is cool and all, but hardly fitting for a party that needs to happen." She walked out from behind the bar with a tray of cocktails, assorted beers, and other alcoholic beverages.
Falco cocked an eyebrow, "What's the occasion?" He asked puzzled.
"You guys being alive isn't that occasion enough?" Roxy set the tray down at the table were Katt and Miyu were playing cards she put her hands on her hips and looked annoyed. "Look, ever since you got back you've all been Goolmsville 90201 and it's distracting as hell! You once told me Falco that the best way to live when your apart of Star Fox was to was to live like today was your last day because when you're with Fox McCloud you never know what day will be your last."
Roxy's eyes filled with tears as she cast her gaze over her friends. "You guys are a bunch of selfish bastards and bitches! You guys nearly died out there but you got away and all you can do is mope because we lost, but you did you guys think about Slippy or Amanda or me? How we would feel if you died out there? You are my family, the only one I have you came home alive and that is reason enough for me to celebrate! I-"
Roxy put a hand to her mouth and sobbed for a minute Katt rose to her feet and crossed the room to her side and embraced her comfortingly Fox was surprised he had never seen Roxy cry before.
"She's right we are alive and our behavior as of late has been unacceptable so as leader of the Star Fox team I say for the time being we forget about Andrew and the mission," He walked over to the jukebox and pounded his fist against it, "AND DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY!" He shouted as dance music blared through the speakers.
For a moment no one got up to dance but Cyrus approached Roxy and said, "Come now Rox, dry your eyes and come dance with me." Roxy smiled and took his hand.
The hours passed like a blur for those in the rec room as they danced, drank, and laughed with each other. In between each dance someone would leave for a while then come back dressed in lighter clothes then continued to enjoy the impromptu party.
As the night went on and the pulsating bass and remixed tunes to softer slow dance tunes. As the lights were dimmed to set the mood, Miyu walked to the window and treated her eyes to a view of the stars, fantasizing about being wrapped in someone's arms, the cool moon light washing over her and her lover. She shudders as he whispers in her ears she turns in her lovers arms and places her hands on his head pulling him into a kiss.
Miyu shook her head. Easy Miyu get a hold of yourself. As Miyu returned to realty she felt the presence of Roxy by her side, she smiled at the raccoon cheerfully.
"Great party! Roxy, this was one of your best ideas yet!" Miyu said.
"You always say that Miyu." Roxy replied, handing her a drink.
"Well it's always true. So what brings you here to lonely corner? Shouldn't you be dancing with your boyfriend?" Miyu asked, she took a drink of her Katina sidecar.
Roxy looked confused for a moment. "Boyfriend? You mean Cyrus? We aren't going out."
"But the way you keep flirting with him and you were dancing and …."
"I flirt with him for fun. He gets all blushy and cute if you know what buttons to push and when he asked me to dance well… how do I put it? Cyrus is just that kind of guy you know, sees you crying he does what he can to cheer you up. He's a sweet guy but he's just not the type of guy I want to go out with. Besides, he's got his eyes on someone else." Roxy turned away with a sheepish grin.
"Ok But you still haven't answered my question."
Roxy gestured at the room. "Hey this is a party and you've spent some time at the bar, dancing or here at the window, ignoring everything that has been going on. As the hostess I can't stand to see anyone not having a good time so I must swoop in and save the day."
"Roxy are you asking me to dance?" Miyu asked with a raised eyebrow and a smirk. Roxy shook her head, a cute smile on her face. "No. But he might."
Roxy looked past Miyu and nodded. Miyu looked over her shoulder and saw Cyrus approaching. For some reason, Miyu felt butterflies in her stomach. Maybe it was the way he looked, light blue jeans, the black tank top, his necklace glowing in the dim light. Gods of Lylat he looks hot. What's the matter with me?
"Careful Miyu, you're drooling." A new voice teased.
"Huh?" Miyu said dumbly. She looked at Roxy and saw Amanda smiling along with the young raccoon.
Miyu could feel a blush creep across her face. "UH I'm not drooling. I don't – I don't drool over cute guys."
"Oh come on Miyu we're all women here, Cyrus is a rather hot tod. Not gonna lie, I've done a number of physicals on him and I have to admit he is a rather healthy, attractive male." Amanda said.
"Mmmhm." Roxy added. "And I know for a fact that he - uh-oh tilt here he comes now!"
"Hi Roxy great party I'm really enjoying it!" Cyrus said a large smile on his face. "I'm glad you talked me into coming."
"Glad you came. What's up?"
Cyrus looked embarrassed but asked. "Well Miyu I- I know that I don't know you that well, but I was hoping that I could have this dance?"
Miyu froze mentally for a moment then said without thinking. "I'm sorry Cyrus but my feet are a little sore from those line dances I'm going to have to take a rain check. Do you mind?"
Cyrus shrugged and nodded. There was a flash of disappointed in his eyes but it was gone so quickly that Miyu wondered if she saw it at all. "OK I'll see ya later." He turned and walked away. Roxy and Amanda looked at Miyu with 'are you kidding me?' looks on their faces. Miyu had some confusion herself as she watched him walk away.
"Oh girl, what is wrong with you?!" Roxy asked. "It's not like he's playing hard to get with you."
"I know but-" Miyu started but Amanda cut her off.
"Miyu, how long has it been since you were in a relationship?"
"Amanda!"
"Well how long?"
"A few years." Miyu growled softly with a scowl.
"Well Cyrus isn't going anywhere and he is really, really cute so go after him." Roxy coxed.
"You two aren't going to let this go are you?" She asked as she turned to go. Both shook their heads.
"Wait," Miyu called out as she went after him he turned around. "Cyrus I would love to dance."
Cyrus smiled and took her hand and bit his lip. "If I step on your feet will you hit me?"
"I promise I won't."
Cyrus led he her to the dance floor and simply swayed with her moments later she giggled. "You're so tense. It's like you never slow danced before."
Cyrus's eyes wandered away from hers. "I haven't. In fact, you could say that this is my first dance."
"You never went to a dance or to your Prom?" Miyu asked, her eyes wide with surprised. "Why?"
"Roxy sure knows how to throw a party, huh?" He replied, completely ignoring her question.
Miyu decided to let the question go and help him enjoy this moment. She placed her hands around his neck. "Can I let you in on a little secret? The best way to slow dance is like any other dance, close your eyes, let the music fill your body, and just sway with me."
Miyu watched Cyrus close his eyes and felt his breathing slow as he continued to sway slowly from side to side. Miyu laid her head against his chest letting the music sweep her away as they continued to sway to the slow rhythm. She lifted her head from his chest and looked up at him.
"That's better. Even your heart rate is slowing down." Miyu whispered softly.
"Where did you learn to dance? You make this easy."
"Oh, are you some kind of pilot-martial artist-dance expert?"
Cyrus shook his head. "No my sister does ballet, tap, and ballroom. I've seen enough recitals and practices to notice when someone has had years of experience and training just by the way they dance."
"So you were watching the routines back on Macbeth," she said with a grin. Cyrus shrugged. "So did you like what you saw?" Miyu sported a kittenish look on her face hoping that what Katt said was true, but Cyrus shrugged again. "Well your routine was really the only one I really liked not because of how you looked but because you… well you looked happy up there."
"You didn't like…," she paused, "I looked happy?"
"Yeah. There was joy –tangible joy in your movements."
Miyu smiled. "I never wanted to dance when I was little. I thought that it was too girly for me. But then my dad was in the army and I wanted to do something that didn't involve beating the shit out of the bullies at school, something that I could show him whenever he came home or could transmit to him and make him proud so I signed up for dance class."
Her eyes filled with tears as she continued speaking. "I trained for months for my first recital, making sure everything was perfect. Then the worst day of my life happened and my dad died in the battle of Katina. He never saw me dance but I kept doing it because I knew he would be proud."
A tear rolled down her cheek. Hesitantly, Cyrus brushed it away and Miyu blinked in surprise and looked at him. Cyrus turned his face from her gaze feeling ashamed as a moment later a tear rolled down his own cheek.
"Cyrus what's wrong?"
"It's nothing Miyu."
Miyu gave a half smile, raised an eyebrow. "Cyrus, don't lie to me I know we don't know each other that well but I'd like to think we are friends and last time I checked you don't lie to your friends."
Cyrus was quiet for a moment and looked back at Miyu. "It's just that you did something that I…. haven't done yet."
"What do you mean?"
"My brother and I had a lot of the same interests one of which was flight among other things and we made a lot of plans to do some very risky things based on those likes."
"Really like what?"
"Nothing illegal I assure you." Cyrus replied. "Anyway um when he died he asked me not to waste my time in mourning him, to do the things that we planned and above all; to live for the both of us."
"And you feel that you let him down?"
"I was ten when my brother went off to war I promised that when I was old enough I would follow after him and we would take down the enemy together. Long story short I never did so I didn't pout about it I just moved on but I've never…. I never kept that promise." A few more tears rolled down Cyrus's face as he concluded his tale.
Miyu blinked back tears, the story was true but she guessed that it wasn't what really bothering him. Miyu decided to let it go, memories that dealt with the loss of loved ones are wounds that never really heal and were too painful to reopen. "I'm sorry. I know how hard it is to talk about lost loved ones."
Miyu looked up at Cyrus, and both felt a bit embarrassed that they had revealed so much to each other and so the conversation ground to a halt. As the song became more intimate Cyrus eyes locked with Miyu's and was mesmerized by them.
"What are you looking at?"
"Your eyes and how they glisten like starlight. It adds to your beauty in ways that I never could have imagined."
Miyu chuckled and shook her head. "You could learn some new lines, but I'm flattered."
He cringed playfully and admitted with a playful smirk. "Yeah, it sounded better in my head."
Miyu looked up at Cyrus and noticed that Roxy was right. Cyrus was indeed cute - - more than cute, but Roxy was prone to understatement. He's handsome and he has some dreamy brown eyes. Damn what am I twelve? What is going on with me?
Her thoughts flitted across her face, and Cyrus stiffened, afraid that he had said or done something to darken her expression so. He tried to think of something to say to make her smile, or to just lighten the mood, but as the song ended, Miyu detached herself and blushing, said "I'm thirsty, and I need some air. Thanks for the dance. See ya later." With a smile and a tip of her head, she turned and left him.
Cyrus stood there completely unsure of what to do next, he couldn't just stand there and started to go after her when Slippy's voice crackled through the intercom.
"FOX I CRACKED IT FOX!"
Needless to say, mood was ruined.
The team gathered around mission isle looking on as Slippy set up his presentation while they waited, Krystal went get some drinks from a synthesizer. "Sorry it's taking so long I guess I jumped the gun when I cracked the code."
"Wait, the codes that I stole from Crane? The codes that I've been busting my ass too break? You freaking nerd what did you do? " Miyu asked incredulously.
"I was analyzing the hull fragments we recovered when I discovered this." Slippy pulled up a holo- image of a hull fragment that had a large black rune. He zoomed in on a section of the rune revealing a trail of smaller runes that were invisible to the naked eye.
"Oh goody for you Toad but what does it have to do with my codes?"
"Well I ran them through the linguistics database and they match the Cerinian alphabet or at least an older form of so I ran the glyphs into Miyu's Code breaking algorithm and bam I broke it open or part of it at least."
Miyu rolled her eyes then let out a sigh. "So what did you find out?"
Slippy moved a few images around. "First of all there are a number of audio files of Andrew practically confessing to being the mastermind behind the murders of half of the best black marketeers in Lylat. After that there is a list of components from all over Lylat, including the tech from Zoness, but what caught my eye was this."
Slippy pulled up a few schematics one of which looked like some kind of monument. The best way to describe what they saw in the plans was geodesic circle that was that could be placed on the ground or hung in space.
"What is it?" Falco asked.
"According to the file it's called a Chaos Fountain but beyond that I-" Slippy was cut off as the sound of glass braking caused everyone to turn and see what had happened. At the end of the ramp stood Krystal, her fearful turquoise eyes fixed on the monument that hovered in the air. "No there is no he could have built one of those accursed gateways."
"Krystal…. Have you seen this before?" Roxy asked her eyes filled with concern.
"Yes but it was in ruins."
"So what is it really called?" Falco asked
"It's called Konton No Shimo Jigoku No Mon; The Gates of Hell Under the Chaos and it was the means by which the Cha'ha brought their armies to the galaxy ages years ago."
"Did your people build this device?" Fox asked.
"Yes and no, the explanation is ancient history."
Slippy's large blue eyes lit up in delight. "Did your people use this to travel around the universe?"
Krystal shook her head sat on the floor and crossed her legs, as was the way of her people when they told stories. "No if you want the truth of the gate, I must tell you about the ones that created it."
"In the beginning the universe was nothing but chaos. A primordial mass constantly shifting, nothing staying fixed until one day a mountain rose from the darkness, on top of this mountain were Pran and Rea lay asleep. The first to waken was Pran he rose to his feet and looked on his surroundings till his gaze fell upon the sleeping Rea and fell in love with her. Then Pran looked at the chaos and said. 'It is not right for beauty such as this to be while this vile darkness and emptiness exists.'"
"Pran walked to the edge of the chaos and struck it with his hand and brought order to chaos leaving a vast expanse above him and solid ground beneath his feet. Then he took a stone form the mountain, and broke it open, and removed the insides, and cast them into the sky so where they sparkled and shimmered. Then he gathered three large orbs one of gold and two of silver, Pran heated the orbs till they glowed. Then Pran threw the golden orb far away till it sank below the horizon and tossed the silver ones in the air where they hung suspended, shining softly."
As Krystal spoke it seemed that some kind of magic took them from the bridge of Great Fox II to a place that had not been seen by the eyes of vulpine, feline, human or anyone else. A male tod with fur the color of early twilight and mid-night black hair stood tall above them making gestures with his hands. Behind him on the barren ground a beautiful vixen with red hair and earthen colored fur slept soundly.
"Pran worked on all through the night creating beautiful sights in the heavens but as the moons sank below the horizon, Ria awoke and saw the stars in the sky she was overjoyed so much that she opened her mouth and stared to sing and as she sang the earth brought forth forests of trees, grass, rivers of pure crystal clear water, beasts of the air, of the land and the water. When Pran heard the sound of Ria's voice he turned from his work and saw the wonders of the land and how they matched those of the sky, he sat and listened till she stopped singing then the two became mates."
Falco cleared his throat. "Yeah that's romantic and all but what does it have to do with the gate we found?"
"Falco Lombardi," Krystal's eyes flashed angrily at the blue avian. "this is the sacrosanct word of my people and if I was to tell this tale properly it would take three days! All I ask is that you please be respectful all will be explained."
Falco rolled his eyes but his apology was sincere. "I'm sorry Krys."
Krystal nodded her head. "It's okay I'll try to make this as short as I can. Now several days after the creation of the First World, Ria saw that her mate had created many beautiful worlds and a dazzling sky in which they hung but there were none save her and her family, who could enjoy it's beauty. So Ria gathered her children and together they created the races. From stone, clay, and water Ria made the bodies then Jadet the eldest and the god of courage and later, of war put fire into the minds and limbs for strength, Revana goddess of grace, beauty and love gave the males handsome faces and graced the females with beauty not only in the face but in body and mind as well, Arna the goddess of the flame and the of forge used her skills to mold the individual forms of the Vulpine the Feline, the Lepus, the Amphibian the Avian, the Lupine and so on. Thea and Cronus god and goddess of wisdom and time gave their knowledge finally the twins, Dina the goddess of life and Reven the god of tricks came forth. Diana raised her voice and sang life into the beings."
"Wait what about Reven what did he give the races? " Cyrus asked.
"Reven gave his cunning to only one race and that was the Vulpine which is way we are so devious."
"And they all lived happly ever after!" Roxy shouted.
"That's not the case when it comes to things like this someone always has to screw it up." Fox muttered Krystal nodded. "That is true Fox. As order continued to reign and prosperity along with it the chaos from which Pran and Ria came from began to die and from it came a demon the brother of Pran, Melkior the first Ch'ha. Melkior had a plan to return the universe to its chaotic state but as long as his brother was ruling from the First World he couldn't."
"Why not? If they were brothers wouldn't they be evenly matched?" Miyu asked.
"No Pran's legend tells that he renounced his chaos powers in order to make the galaxy for Ria and as Pran's order spread Melkior's power's waned to the point that he was too weak to face him in battle. So Malkior sought another way to defeat his Brother and regain his strength when he noticed that the creatures that Ria and Pran watched over worshiped them and increased their powers so he would corrupt the creatures and thus poison Pran and the best way to do that was to corrupt the source of life ; Diana."
Miyu sat up piecing some things together. "Because she brought them to life she had some kind of connection with them."
"Yes but Diana was not so easily tempted, Melkior tried everything but all failed." Krystal replied. "After the last temptation had lost too much of his power and was close to death when Melkior felt a small seed of discontent that sustained him Melkior followed this till he found it came from Reven."
"After disguising himself as an old rabbit, Malkior approached Reven and talked with him until Reven confided that he was unhappy with his place amongst his family and wished that he was stronger and his deepest secret that he was in love with his twin sister Diana Melkior then promised the young god his heart's desire. Reven eagerly agreed and listened to Melkior's words."
"Diana was walking along a mountain lake one day when she saw a tod drowning, so she saves him but he is sickly and weak from the glacial waters. So Diana decides to nurse him back to health, but as the weeks went on she found herself falling in love with this mortal youth so that when he had recovered, she became his mate but was shocked to see her brother by her side the next morning."
"I'm surprised that she didn't figure it out." Cyrus said. "Reven is the god of tricks I'm sure that she had seen him do this sort of thing before."
Krystal smiled knowingly. "True but if Reven was the god of tricks, don't you think he can make the same one better or come up with new ones to replace them?"
Cyrus shrugged and Krystal continued her tale. "Reven spent hours calming his sister down and eventually won her over but the two couldn't even imagine what they had done. A few days later the sins of the two illicit lovers passed on to the races casing descent and chaos, Melkior sped things up by sending out imps that shot darts into the young race spreading fear, anger, and suffering and opened the doors that they led to."
"Pran saw the evil that was sweeping through the universe and went to Diana hoping to find some answers but she was not there, Dina had fled along with her brother to the rabbit who was, in fact, Melkior.
"They begged him for help and for protection, Melkior agreed and offered them food and drink while they explained everything. Malkior then advised them that they should kill Pran and Ria as well as their brothers and sisters of course they refused at first but Melkior whispered lies to them and prayed upon the fears in the young lovers hearts to finally persuade them to his plan."
"What was his plan?" Amanda asked.
"Melkior put Reven and his sister to sleep then destroyed their bodies and merged his soul with theirs then he went straight for the First World along the way he fought the other Allrun. The young gods, who were looking for their missing siblings soon fell to the combined wrath of the Cha'ha and were left for dead their defeats sowing conflict and fear."
"Only Pran could face Mel'kior in battle even though the chaos made him stronger but Pran would not let all he and his family made fall into chaos and eternal darkness and so Pran faced his brother at the mountain of creation."
"As the brothers fought, the frenzy that first races were worked into by Melkior snapped into a war with each other that nearly whipped them out, and practically set the world ablaze causing even more chaos which added more strength to Mel'kior and yet somehow Pran was able to keep up with Melkior. For days on end The Cha'ha and Pran, and Ria who returned looking for her children, fought till Melkior struck Ria a deadly wound and when Pran went to her aid, Melkior struck him down too."
"But as Malkior readied himself for the final blow, Pran and Ria used the last of their strength to destroy Melkior's body split his fused soul back into the three they were and banished them to the Void. "
Katt shrugged looking a little confused. "So they won right? Bad guy dead, the Allrun survived with the exception of mom and dad and the sexually twisted twins a Hollywood happy ending!"
"No they didn't Katt, Melkior was so powerful that the best they could do was to break psycho uncle apart from his niece and nephew and then lock them up." Slippy said. "Am I right Krystal?"
Krystal smiled warmly. "Your both right the Allrun did survive their wounds but now they had the responsibility of ruling over the universe and keeping the Cha'ha locked away but now that the beings they created had fallen it made matters more difficult. The Allrun used their power to save the younger generation of the clans and scattered the among the stars because the First World was burned and became Solar. However they kept one clan of vulpine apart and created a new world for both the clan to be safe and themselves so they could watch over the universe."
"That world was Cernina and that clan was your peoples ancestors weren't they?" Cyrus inquired piecing the end of her tale together.
"Yes and for a long time we had peace until a thousand years ago a cult of Cerinians began to worship the Cha'ha and built idols to them and were possessed as a "reward". No one could tell how it was done until King Enratin discovered one monument that was a large stone gateway that according to legend could release the Cha'ha from their imprisonment based on this he started the Cult War but what Enratin or anyone of my ancestors thought were a handful of religious extremist were in fact an army of demons and legions of the undead and leading them were the seven leaders of the Cha'ha Cult all of whom were possessed by the demons they worshiped."
Miyu looked about the room feeling uneasy, all this talk of demons was giving her the creeps across from her she saw Cyrus look down on his hands with concern in his eyes. "What were the Cha'ha hosts capable of?" He asked.
Krystal looked concerned but answered. "All of the Cha'ha hosts had enhanced strength and telepathy, the ability to fly, manipulate reality and cause chaos, the list goes on and changes from legend to legend making hard to tell what is fact and what is fiction."
Miyu wondered what made Cyrus asked that. "So what happened to the Cha'ha I assume that they lost their second attempt at galactic conquest?"
"Only after forty-five years of war and the appearance of the Allrun to bestow the staffs that most of our race bear then yes complete and utter defeat. Until now I thought that victory was certain. "
"But if they were defeated and your people are extinct where did they get the plans for this? Do you think that one of them escaped?" Fox asked as he pulled the hologram down examining it closer. "I don't think the Cha`ha are the types to fight without some kind of escape plan."
Krystal shrugged. "It's possible my great grandfather told me that the cult leaders seemed to be as powerful as they had been before," She paused and looked at the hologram her eyes distant and regretful, "but I've always had this feeling that they weren't gone just somewhere out there biding their time I got my tail in so many jams for questioning our ways. Now I wish that I was just dreaming all up."
Fox walked over to her side and embraced her then addressed the rest of the team.
"Now that we know what we know what we are up against I'll send the info to Peppey and he'll put together a new strategy. In the meantime Slippy and Roxy I want you to work on that portal we need to know how it works I don't want Andrew bringing demons or any Harbinger fighters to kick our asses. Katt, Falco run diagnostics on the hull frags we got we need to get a leg up on what the hell makes our scanners bounce off this piece of junk. Miyu I want you Krystal and Cyrus to try and crack the rest of the code."
As the team went about their tasks Cyrus felt confusing sense loss. "Hey you okay?" He looked over at Miyu, she looked concerned. "Yeah I'm just a little excited."
She gave a smile. "Yeah I guess this is your ticket home right?"
"Yeah I guess it is." He replied and went about his work but his thoughts still swirled around. I don't understand we just found a way for me to get home but why don't I feel happy that I'm going home?
