Chapter Fifteen

What do you want Cyrus?

Fox gripped the pipe in front of him he kept his core as he crawled along parallel to the ceiling below him Katt move along the wall camouflaged in her stealth exo armor. He looked at the map on his H.U.D and smiled, they were right outside the central command computer room. He quickly tapped out an encrypted code to Katt on his wrist comm then he dropped to the ground using a G-diffuser to help silence his landing. Fox poked his head above the trench he had landed in, a heavy white fog obscuring the rest of his body, approached a guard at edge and yanked his feet out from under him. The ape gasped in surprise as the ground rushed to meet him a moment later his head struck the ground face first with a slight crack then fell into fog.

Fox checked his med scanners to see if he was alive but they read negative he climbed out just in time to see Katt somersault over the other guard and snap his neck as she sailed over his head. As the body fell into the trench, she reached out and took the access card from his belt then waved it at Fox and then swiped the key through the scanner.

Once Fox and Katt were inside, Fox closed the doors and locked them then took off the control panel and started to remove the lock's reader mechanism. Behind him, Katt drew her blaster and took aim at the lock. Fox stood up blocking her aim. "What do you think you are doing?"

"If you get out of my way I'll show you." Katt replied in a sweet voice.

"Katt if you blow the lock they will still be able to open the door. The key to keeping the door locked is to jam the outside reader."

Fox returned to his work and replaced a chip from the reader with one from his belt the put it all back. "Katt Try to open the door." Katt walked over to the door and swiped the key card there was a click-click but the door would not open.

"Where did you learn that trick?" Katt asked removing her helmet. Fox grinned mischievously as he removed his own helmet. "Do you remember the girl's locker room at south Peram middle school? " Katt nodded. "Yes what about it?"

"Slippy and I were the mystery pranksters of that problem."

Katt rolled her eyes then went over to the computer and started to hack her way into the system meanwhile Fox went about the room setting charges.

It had been two months since Andrew had declared war on Lylat and pulled an offensive that in a matter of hours had taken several strategic planets and sectors, forcing the Cornian Army to go on the defensive. Eventually Peppy called the Star Fox Team for hit and run missions, Offensive battles, and the occasional covet ops. However, the mission they were doing was from Whitefur. During a recent battle, Whitefur had found out that Andrew had a secret base on Fortuna and sent Fox and his team to investigate.

After reviewing the data, Fox had decided that a four-man team would go into the base. Fox, and Katt would make their way to the main computer and find out where Andrew was operating from, Falco, and Cyrus would make their way to the sensor array and disable it, while Krystal, Slippy, Miyu, and Amanda were on the outside in Arwings on standby in case everything went south.

When Fox had finished his task he walked over to Katt her hands flew over the Holo-Sphere keyboard passing it back and forth between her hands, she looked like a cat playing with a ball of yarn. "How's it coming?" He checked his timer 1:29:15, "We are behind schedule by about two minutes."

"I've almost got it beat, don't have a cow." Katt replied then looked up balancing the digital spheroid on the tip of her finger. "OK I won't be saying that again anytime soon." Katt passed the ball to her right hand and typed a few keys. The hologram turned from blue to green, terminals lit up Fox smiled as Katt downloaded the location of Andrew's forces. He turned away and activated his wristcomm. "Fox to Falco we've got the data how are things on your end?"

A hologram of Falco appeared just above his wrist "The bombs are set. We are at the first rendezvous point we've been here for a while. You two on your way here or would you like a diversion to give you some cover?"

Fox was about to say no but the door behind them clicked, someone was at the door Damn it the patrol is here! "Looks like we'll need it Falco, blow out the array."

Falco turned to his left. "You have the charge set to a low setting?"

"Yes and one will even notice the blast." Cyrus' disembodied voice replied.

"Good on my mark Cyrus, three, two, one MARK!"

A loud explosion rocked the whole base and sirens keened. Over the comms a voice cried out "All hands battle stations!" Fox looked down at his wrist. "WHAT THE HELL DID YOU TWO DO?"

"Oh Fuck me." Cyrus murmured in disbelief.

"You set the charges in a plasma conduit!" Falco exclaimed. "I should have set the charges, Fox I guess we'll be switching to the back-up plan?"

"Affirmative contact Slippy tell him to start the diversion and prepare for a Windrider escape plan, stay frosty Bird brain."

"Good luck Little man." Katt blew Falco a kiss then put her helmet back on. The avian rolled his eyes but Fox could tell that Falco was glad she did that. "See you two at the rendezvous you two watch each other's backs."

Fox signed off then turned to the computer and fired a charge shot in to the main computer core. Katt nodded her head in approval then blasted out a cooling vent. "After you McCloud."

Falco fired his blaster rifle then ducked behind the wall as blaster bolts hit the wall and flew through the doorway across from him Cyrus' Cerberus pistols were blazing in there full auto glory. "Cyrus don't waste your time, you'll only overheat your guns then you'll be one sorry SOB, more than you already are."

Cyrus took cover behind the wall then scowled at Falco. "Well it's better than sitting here, pinned down waiting for them to come here and finish us off!" He turned away with a rebellious look in his eyes. "Look I know I screwed up but being angry at me is not going to help us."

"STAY OUT OF MY HEAD YOU FREAK! I WILL BE PISSED OFF AT YOU AND IF WE GET OUT OF THIS I'M GONNA-" Falcos' words were cut off as the enemy opened fire and started down the hall but they were stopped as Falco and Cyrus returned fire, forcing them to hug the wall's and ducked in to doorways.

But they kept firing determined to keep the intruders in place the shots just barely missing their mark. Just Falco and Cyrus thought they were going to die two figures dressed in black appeared at the end of the hallway and opened fire on the enemy.

The attack took the Venomites by surprise and caused chaos among their ranks Falco and Cyrus took advantage of the confusion to leave the sonic lift and attack the troops. Cyrus drew his dagger and cut down the enemy troops while Falco shot the ones that tried to run away in a few moments the floor was littered with the dead.

As Cyrus and Falco turned to face their friends Fox and Katt who approached as quickly as they could doing their best not to slip on the puddles of blood that expanded quickly across the floor. "Are you two ok?" Fox asked his black stealth armor had a couple gray streaks on them from near miss blaster bolts.

"Yeah but my little mistake has put the base on lockdown the stairs are have guards and the lifts are shut down." Cyrus paused to scratch his ear Fox could see doubt in his young friends' eyes as he asked. "So how are we going to get out of this problem?"

Fox thought for a moment then looked up at the corner were Falco and Cyrus were trapped in a few minutes ago. "Simple we'll go up the chimney."

"What?" Cyrus asked, his eyebrow raised in confusion.

Fox walked over to the Sonic lift with Cyrus following and pointed up to a hatch in the ceiling of the lift. "That," he said as he crouched down and cupped his hands, "is the emergency access hatch just in case the lift is disabled and troops need to be rescued. Come on, I'll give you a boost Cyrus and you can open the hatch then we can use ascension cables to get to the upper levels."

Fox lifted him up to the hatch Cyrus punched the hatch open then pulled himself up. He looked up the shaft and was relieved to see that it was that none of the doors were open. Cyrus reached down and pulled up Fox, Katt and Falco then they fired titnasteel cables into the ceiling moments later, they were rising upwards into the darkness.

Krystal swung her Arwing around on her bombardment run her target; the base's anti-air craft cannons. She locked on to the munitions and fired a Nova bomb then pulled away just as it detonated. "This is Krystal the cannons are down I'm on my way to the airfield now."

Miyu's Interceptor flew across the horizon shooting down enemy fighters with asynchronous violet laser fire. "You can't run, you can't hide because I own the sky you backstabbing bastards! Sorry I started the party without you Krystal, but the hosts are lacking in patience they make up for in entertainment, they play a mean game of seek and destroy!"

"I don't mind Miyu I guess Andross never taught his troops or his nephew that particular virtue. And now we shall teach them the error of their ways."

"Don't get to wrapped up in your lesson," Slippy said Krystal noticed that the amphibian had a grave look on his face. "Falco just contacted me they need a Windrider escape plan."

"The shit must have hit the fan big time if they need that plan." Miyu said with a troubled look on her face.

Krystal looked past her H.U.D and up at the flight tower looming over head at 248 feet. Where are you at Fox? Reaching out with her thoughts, she searched the base for Fox and his team. Cerinian telepathy had a unique trait that set it apart from others; the Cerinians could sense thoughts, and emotions but they could also sense the specific traits that made the person who they were much like a detective would uses a fingerprint to find a criminal.

Unfortunately, the whole base was a confused mess of emotions that she had a hard time finding any of her friends. She changed tactics instead of looking for the strike team based on who they were, she would look for just one thing that would easy to spot.

"Miyu, I need you to cover me I have to concentrate on finding the team." Krystal aimed her fighter at the base of the tower at the same time she focused all her power on her task; Cyrus's Cha`ha powers. A moment later she found her target then she extended her thoughts and soon felt Fox, Katt, and Falco she could also feel angst from Falco, fear from Katt, determination from Fox and annoyance from Cyrus from the feel of their emotions they were in battle, but they were unharmed so she withdrew her mind.

"They're in the tower I'm going up." Krystal pointed her fighter up on her radar she saw Slippy follow her move. She returned her gaze to the sky in a few moments she would be at the top but instead of joy she felt a deep sense of fear, she could feel something dark rising, or rather, was gathering great strength and hung over her like a dark storm cloud that was ready unleash it's fury. Krystal pushed her throttle praying she would not too late but she was. A red light flashed in the control room for a moment then a red beam blazed out of the topmost part of the tower but then it went down into the building then it died out but what Krystal noticed was four armored figures falling towered her.

"Slippy, the team is airborne and is falling this way punch it we got to catch them!" Krystal punched her boost angling her Arwing at two of the falling figures she leveled out and hovered soon Falco and Katt landed on her wings Krystal sighed and opened her comms. "Are you two ok?"

"He's cracking Katt you and I both know that!"

"How do you know that? He could just be having a bad day we've all made mistakes on missions like this."

Krystal rolled her eyes frustrated by the Avian and Feline. "Could you two, for once just for once, stop your bickering and report?! What the hell happened in there?!" She growled so loudly and violently that the comms in the helmets of Katt and Falco so that the speaker screeched in protest. Katt wobbled for a moment then she looked at the cockpit. "Sorry Krys, Cyrus accidentally blew up a plasma conduit and put the base on alert." Katt stopped her report as a red laser shot between her ears. "Um can I tell you the rest when we get back to the ship?"

"Yes, let's get out of here," she opened her comms to her team. "Krystal to all points who has Fox and Cyrus?"

"Amanda here I have Fox but Cyrus missed my hull I don't know who has him or if he's-"

"This is Slippy Cyrus just landed on my port wing we're all set!"

"ALL AIRCRAFT RETREAT!"

Krystal landed her fighter in the hanger bay of the Great Fox II grinning, they had escaped without getting themselves killed. Her joy was short lived when she saw Cyrus stumble off from Slippy's wing and she noticed for the first time that she could not feel him as easily as she could before, she could feel his prescience but it was if he was muted or camouflaged.

Krystal was startled out of her bewilderment by a helmet crashing to the deck she turned to see Falco jump from her wing. "Falco don't!" Katt cried out Krystal thumbed the control for the canopy and clambered out. "Falco stand down now!" Krystal shouted but Falco stormed across to Cyrus, grabbed him by the shoulders, and slammed his fist into Cyrus' gut. Cyrus fell to his knees heaving despite the fact he was still wearing the stealth armor.

As Cyrus rose to his feet the other members of Star Fox were pulling Falco back behind him Cyrus could feel Roxy and Miyu holding his shoulders in case he should attack. "It was all your fault the mission went south Cyrus! Ever since you joined the team, you have been trying to keep yourself on your goals, to get your sorry ass home and now your starting to crack! What do you want Cyrus?"

Cyrus shrugged off Miyu and Roxy's hands and started to walk forward but he fell to his knees coughing until he sunk to the deck convulsing. Amanda ran to his side a med scanner in her hand.

"He's having a seizure," She looked at Fox, "Help me get him out of the armor and on his side before he chokes!"

Fox ran over and hit the emergency release on Cyrus' armor. The armor opened like unfolded paper Amanda put her hands underneath Cyrus, tilted him on his side, and held him in place until he was still but Cyrus didn't open his eyes and he wasn't breathing. Amanda checked her scanner. "I'm losing him I need to get to the infirmary NOW!"

Diana hummed happily as she set the scene for her seduction. For months she had been searching for a way to capture her mates host but for some reason her powers were somehow deflected she couldn't even see his thoughts.

It troubled her that she couldn't feel him here in Lylat but before she could sense him so easily back in his own system. She shook off the thoughts it didn't matter now Cyrus had used his powers of chaos and that was all she needed to get a hold of him she knew his weakness and that was all she needed.

Diana turned around to see Cyrus laying in his human form. "No need to hide who you are with me." She whispered as she walked over to him. She looked him over with hungry eyes. "Hmm Fox has been keeping you fit but I wonder."

She removed the blankets to appraise him further. "Oh yes you will do wonders for me." Diana was trembling with lust and leaned in for a kiss him but stopped. "Not yet Diana it's for him to make the choice. Let's get this over with you I need you more than you know Cyrus." She grabbed the blankets and laid next to him and let the moonlight shine in.

Cyrus sighed contentedly and rolled onto his back his eyes cracked open and winced as a bright light beamed into his room then left just as quickly he could smell the salt air of the sea mixed with lavender and some exotic spice. He could faintly hear the gentle crash of the sea on the shore far of in the distance.

He opened his eyes and let them wander until they fell on the head of dark blue hair that looked familiar but he couldn't place it. As the light shined into the room again he raised his hand to shield his eyes and noticed that his hand was normal his disguiser was gone.

Cyrus sat up and looked about the room was spacious with a relaxed atmosphere a fold away bed a love seat was pressed against the far wall with a small end table and a lamp on one side.

To his right, a sliding glass door sat open Cyrus walked over to it and looked out it was early dawn probably four o'clock in the morning so he couldn't make out much the only thing he could see was a light house but he knew it. "This is- this can't be right. It can't be real." He whispered in disbelief.

Soft hands slid up his chest and a voice whispered in a silky, seductive tone. "It's as real as you want it to be baby." Cyrus turned around and was surprised to see that it was Krystal. The vixen wore white silk underwear and relaxed smile she pressed herself against his body and hugged him Cyrus hesitated then hugged her back, softly stroking the fur on her back.

Krystal lifted her head. "You seem troubled, what's wrong?"

"I'm just trying to figure out what you are doing here." He replied Krystal chuckled. "Very funny Cyrus but you should know better than to say things like that to your girlfriend."

Cyrus looked confused but then remembered that Fox and Krystal had broken up a year ago and Krystal had started dating Cyrus about nine months later which was fine except he could not remember anything that had happened over the past few years.

Krystal put her hand to his forehead. "You seem to be a little cooler. You have had me quite worried."

"I do feel better but then I have you watching over me." Cyrus replied. But how come I can't remember anything? Something is wrong here. Maybe she can give me some more information.

"Hey Cyrus are you listening to me?"

"Sorry my mind was wandering. What did you say?"

She smiled slyly. "I was saying we should go back inside and rest or we could "enjoy" the cool night air. I want to see if you have fully recovered."

Cyrus smiled. "I like either idea, but could you tell me where we are?"

"At your house, in the southern hemisphere on Zoness, to be more precise Nanaho Air defense base recreation zone." Krystal replied sweetly.

"That is bullshit Krystal."

"No it's not."

"Yes it is. Because that lighthouse out there is the one in Cape Canaveral, this is my uncle's boathouse in Florida back on Earth. So let me ask you again; where are we?"

Krystal pushed herself away from him her head bowed her shoulders shook but Cyrus could hear her laughing softly. Krystal raised her head and smiled. "You know if you were wrong you would have broken her heart. You're very smart to see through my illusions especially since all you had to go on was a lighthouse."

Cyrus smiled smugly and gestured at her body. "Thanks but, if you wanted me to be convinced you should have chosen a place I wouldn't have recognized. Or put me with someone I would have a chance with like Katt or Roxy." Or Miyu but that is a longshot. He thought. "Roxy is to flighty and flirty for my liking, and Katt is just too…pink but Krystal ah, is the perfect vessel for a goddess like me."

Cyrus cocked an eyebrow at her statement. "If it's not to rude to ask who might you be?"

"I am Diana Queen of the Cha`ha the mother of all life and of the other Cha`ha." She bowed low then turned and sauntered back into the house her tail swaying provocatively. Cyrus was stunned but it was soon replaced with anger and rage. Stay calm and focused I won't get anything from her if I lose my head. He followed Diana in to the house and leaned against the door.

Diana had laid herself on the bed and propped herself up in a provocative way pale moon light spilled through the window completing the scene for a seduction but Cyrus stood his ground. Pouting, Diana sighed. "You are no fun you know that? All I'm looking for is a little chit a little chat nothing or less. I'm sure you have questions."

"Yeah right, you yank me from my home, play operation on me, and expect me to talk to you?" Cyrus strode into the room toward her his hands were trembling fists. "But I do have to know, why me? What is so Ra-damn important about me and how does it fit with your plans?"

Diana shrugged. "If I told you it wouldn't be much of a surprise."

Cyrus knelt by her head a look of childish innocence on his face. "But if you tell me I'll still act surprised."

She laughed and rolled onto her back exposing her white furred midriff. "No, no, no, but ask me something else and I'll give you a good answer." Cyrus was surprised by her attitude she was acting like a child teasing and taunting him much like in a game of tag and yet there was a sensuality and charisma that was upsetting to him but also enticed him. Cyrus gave himself a mental shake right now he needed to focus.

"Why did you bring me here Diana?"

Diana bit her lower lip, sat up, and prodded him in the belly with her toes. "I brought you here to relieve you of your suffering Cyrus."

"What are you talking about?"

"You are in pain Cyrus you hide it every day with your work, your training and you let you pain eat away at you like a cancer and you let it knowing that it's killing you and you're not doing anything to stop but I can't envision why. Can you tell me?"

Her words had an unexpected effect on Cyrus, they slid into his mind like a key into a lock. "Your experiments on my body might have something to do with it."

Diana frowned. "True we have done some terrible things to you but you have some difficult choices to make and you still have some to make some more to make in the near future."

"If you think that I'm rethinking my goals because we are closing in on Andrew, you're wrong. I'm going home and there is not a damn thing you can do or say that can change that you hear me you bitch? Even if you kidnap me again I'll escape from your clutches and get home." Cyrus uttered the words with a sense of finality and turned away from her but there was a small twinge of fear in the back of his mind.

"Even if it means betraying your brother?"

Cyrus froze. "Family ties can be such a burden to bear. You promised your brother that you would follow in his footsteps and here you are fighting to break that promise and it hurts you but it doesn't have to be that way I can change that."

Cyrus turned to face her. "How?"

"I can bring him back no not the way you are thinking I mean turn back time and save him before dies."

Cyrus sat on the bed, he felt like she had knocked the wind right out of him. Could this be true? He was so lost in thought that he barely noticed Diana had crawled over and hugged him. "How can you do this?"

"Well, to be more precise, you should be asking yourself is how can you do it Cyrus? You have the power to do this we gave it to you when we took you from earth, The power of Chaos is the ultimate power that flows throughout the universe like blood and it will give you power over all things including time."

"Think about it in a minute you are back home on the day your brother died stopping the RPG that shot him down. Five minutes later your brother has returned on leave playing football and, how do you say it? "Rocking out" with your sisters then you blink and you have everything you ever wanted and your life is perfect."

Diana's voice dropped to a whisper. "Doesn't that sound good to you?" Cyrus didn't answer. "Why are you hesitating?"

"I'm worried about what I have to give up who I'll really betray if I accept you offer. My brother, father, mom, sisters, Fox, all of them would hate me I can't-"

"Ah, but if you change time none of them will ever know about it will be our little secret besides, what have Fox and his team ever done for you that would make you so loyal to them? They are not really your family they don't understand you like your own family. They miss you so much and they just want you back home with them."

Her tone was kind and loving like a mother reassuring her child. But why is she pushing this so hard? It's like she needs me to yes. If that was the case, it meant that she was using him the tricky part was figuring out how to get out from under her influence without her noticing otherwise she might take him and force him to help her. "Ok," he sighed, "I'll help you but could you answer me one more question?"

"Only if it is the right question." She nuzzled his neck and moved her hands over Cyrus' body. Cyrus did his best to ignore her groping hands and asked. "You said illusions so am I really back on Earth or is this a dream?"

Diana paused her seduction the question was simple one not one that she had expected. She shrugged and leaned away from him. "You are in the medical bay on the Great Fox II, after you collapsed after the last mission. This is only a dream but it can last as long as you want."

Cyrus smiled then turned to Diana and kissed her which she returned in earnest but when she pulled away she felt something sharp enter her chest. "You all most had me, you're right there is not a day that goes by were I wish I could save him, but Dilios would never ever forgive me for betraying my friends or for clinging to him and not just letting go of him." Diana tried to speak but Cyrus twisted the blade slightly stopping her words.

"Now you listen up, you sick, mind-twisting, little bitch I am not a piece in your giant cosmic game of Risk, I am a human, a man that will get to where he belongs and I promise you if you get in my way or kill my friends I will destroy you."

Then with a savage twist he yanked his short blade out of her chest, Diana fell back on to the bed her blood staining the sheets. He backed away as if the blood was acid. He felt tired and scared his eyes drooped and for a moment he fought to stay awake then he decides it doesn't matter and let's go the last thing he feels is the pull of gravity as he fell to the floor.

The first thing that met his eyes was a bright light that passed over him like the light a copy machine he winced and screwed his eyes shut all around him he could hear a humming sound but when he tried to sit up but neither his arms or legs or any muscle in his body would move. He thought about his surroundings then he thought about what Diana had told him. I must be in the scanner tube I must be in bad shape if Amanda put me in here. He thought. How long have I been in here?

Cyrus reached out with his thoughts and felt the emotions of those in the room but his search hit a wall when he felt someone grab his mental probe. But Cyrus did not fight to get away he knew the touch of this mind all too well and he was too weak at the moment to stop her anyway.

You're alive! Cyrus I was so worried we all were. I could not feel your mind, your heart stopped I- are you all right?

For the most part but I'm pretty weak I'm having a hard time just talking to you like this. How long was I out? Cyrus asked he could hear the distress in her voice.

Five hours Amanda is set to bring you out now we'll talk then.

A few moments later the scanner doors opened and the bio-bed he was laying on slid into the room Cyrus sat up and rubbed his arms as he looked around sick bay. Krystal stood next Amanda with a relived smile Amanda had her eyes glued to her med-pad her eyes were filled with confusion then she tuned and left to her office Falco sat three beds away from him with his head down cast he looked like he was brooding about something.

"It's Good to see you on your feet again are you ok?" Krystal asked concerned Cyrus nodded and stretched his arms.

"Yeah I'm much better and I feel stronger for some reason. Is that a good thing?"

Falco stood up from the bed he was sitting on and approached him, Krystal eyed him as he walked over. About that time Amanda walked in with some of her medical equipment. "I suppose a good thing considering that you nearly died you always seem to bounce back from the worse injuries Cyrus." She ran a scanner over his body and head.

Cyrus looked at Krystal and Falco and sighed. "I know you both want to know what happened out there today but the thing is I'm not sure I can explain it."

"Try, please try for my and your sake." Krystal said worriedly as she sat down in front of him whit her hands clasped in her lap.

"Shouldn't we wait for Fox? He'll want to hear about this too." Cyrus asked.

"Fox is delivering a report to Peppy," Falco shrugged, "they'll be talking for hours so no, you are stuck talking to us."

"Did we get it? We know where Andrew is hiding?"

"His fleet is sitting outside Sector Z and looks like they are in the process of building another Chaos Fountain only It's the size of a space station," Krystal answered softly, "I have no doubt that they will be planning an offensive strategy."

Cyrus sighed feeling relived that they did not fail because of him.

Krystal nodded but Falco just shrugged. "Yeah, yeah now start talking."

"That's the thing," he said, "I don't know how I did it or why it happened." Cyrus rubbed his arms in a feeble attempt to ward to ward off the cold. "When we were in the tower I felt rage and anger at the enemy and at myself, fear that I was going to get everyone killed because I screwed it all up. Then when the enemy outflanked us I felt like I was burning up from all those emotions and something knock me to the ground I threw up my hands to fend him off and then, boom I'm a firen my lazar."

Krystal shook her head. "This is bad if your powers has developed this much it might make our fight with the enemy more difficult."

Cyrus swallowed hard. "It gets worse."

Cyrus ran his fingers through his hair and scratched his head he explained his vision to them and what Diana wanted him to do, how she wanted to betray his friends for the full power he could have, when he concluded he looked like a train had hit him hard. For a while, no one said anything.

Falco was the first to break the silence. "It sounds to me like Diana wants your body to get her freak on with either, Melkior or Reven."

Krystal sighed and rubbed the bridge of her nose she looked like she had some bad news to tell Cyrus. "This is worse than I ever could have imagined. With what you have told me and what we have recovered means one thing; Andew is going to summon the Cha`ha here to win his war. "

"Well all we have to do is get to Sector Z and kick his ass." Cayrus said with a grin.

"Well don't get too excited buddy I don't know if you noticed but, your last mission ended in you getting a seizure you might just be put on the side lines till it's over." Falco said

"What? Why?"

Amanda cleared her throat as she walked back over to him with his clothes and Disguiser. Cyrus gratefully took them and started getting dressed. "Cyrus your power has been increasing slowly but, over the last few months when ever we've engaged Andrew or something that reeks of the Cha` ha, your powers spike."

"Now this is just a theory but it seems that you exposure to the Cha`ha's energy increase your power exponentially but your body can't handle the strain so your brain shuts down to protect you from the pain," She paused and looked like she had swallowed bitter medicine, "but that is not the worst of it." Amanda set up a 3-D holo image of Cyrus's body. "Each time a shut down like this occurs something about your anatomy changes and it's accelerating at this rate you might not even be a human when you are ready to go home."

Cyrus felt sick, he could not believe his ears thousands of questions ran through his head. Why was this happening? What did they hope to gain from this? Why me? Everything that was so sure, so confirmed to be true was now thrown into doubt and now it was all gone, broken and scattered to the wind like dust. "Would that matter so much? I mean I could still use the Disguiser on Earth and..."

"That is just delay the inevitable and you know that!" Falco yelled annoyed. "If the Disguiser fails you'd be discovered and then who knows what would happen to you. Cyrus, you are smarter than this and I know you well enough to know that grasping at straws is not like you. You're letting your wish to get Andrew and to get back to your home get in the way of your job here on this team and going to get us or you killed."

"And that is the reason you are going to start following Peppy's orders? To keep me here as a prisoner?" Cyrus asked in a harsh tone.

Krystal walked over to him and put her hand on his shoulder. "It's not like that Cyrus we want you to be safe and right now, here is the best place to be until it is all over. You have to trust us, trust me. I don't like this either but it's our only choice."

Cyrus turned to face her a look of disbelief on his face. "Krystal you can't be – I-I thought you would understand you and I shared our thoughts our memories you know what this means to me."

Krystal looked hurt but her posture and manner was enough to tell him that she was not going to move on this matter. Falco shrugged. "I really don't mind if you go Cyrus," He said in his smug way, "If you can give me a good reason for leaving."

Cyrus was confused Falco had completely changed tact. "What do you mean?" He asked.

"I mean you have to have some kind of plain to keep yourself busy when you go home I'd like to know what it is."

Cyrus was speechless he had not thought of what he would do beyond him leaving Star Fox he opened his mouth but he could not reply to him.

"Why are you asking me this? You've never really cared for me being on this team Falco. "

"Because I'm a lot like you believe it or not, I been in and out of Star Fox and I've never been more at home then here. We need you as you need us Cyrus and I can't stand to see someone like you that has the skills you have go to waste because you would live by someone else exceptions at some point you have to ask yourself 'Who are you and what do you want to do?'"

Cyrus scowled at him. "That still is no reason for me to abandon my family. I don't care what you think is best or what you do I will get home and there is nothing you can do to stop me!" Cyrus turned and ran out of sick bay ignoring Krystal and Falco as they called his name.

Miyu walked down the hall to the observation room she was restless and worried about the day's events and she hoped a view of the stars would calm her mind enough to sleep. When she arrived Miyu was surprised to see someone else looking out of the fiberglass room but whoever it was decided that lights would be a distraction. The figure started shrank back from the light cast by the door. "Who's there?" It asked timidly.

"Just me, Miyu I'm sorry if I'm interrupting."

"Oh this day just keeps getting better."

"Cyrus is that you why are you here? You should be in sick bay resting." Miyu started over to him to see check on him.

"NO! Stay back Miyu!" Cyrus shouted Miyu complied. "Cyrus how long are you going to keep lying to me?"

"What do you mean?"

"I know Fox and the other longer than you have. I know when the team is hiding something and I'm, also, not an idiot. I hate being left out of the loop on things like this and I don't have enough peace's to put it all together but if you trust Fox you can trust me so are you going to trust me or are you going lie to me?"

There was a sigh then he stood up and walked in the light. Miyu gasped as she saw Cyrus true self. He was about as tall as Fox with hair that curled into tight ringlets and black. His skin was a light caramel tan that had scraggly stubble around his chin and cheeks handsome or rather cute but there was a weary look in his brown eyes. "Well this is the truth Miyu." And he told her everything that had happened to him he even told her about what happened in sick bay.

"I just don't know what to do anymore Miyu, I feel so lost."

"Cyrus it sounds to me like you are juggling too many goals. Why do you want to go back to Earth? What is there that will replace what you have experienced out here?"

He thought for a moment then admitted. "Nothing. But my family has lost one son and it crushed them. I don't want them to go through that again, even if it means giving up what I love I can't cause them anymore pain, I won't Miyu. If you could give you mother back her husband by giving up something dear to you would you?"

Miyu smiled sweetly. "No, I wouldn't because one day I would look back on that day and say 'What have I done? And was it worth all this change?' If I had my father I would have never met Fay or Fox and I would miss who I am now." She put a hand on his shoulder. "I won't tell you what you should do Cyrus, because when the time comes you will know what to do and you will make the right choice."

Cyrus turned his head and looked into her deep amethyst eyes and he felt his cheeks flush in his chest he felt the same tingling warmth he felt whenever he saw her. Cyrus smiled and embraced her in warm hug Miyu tensed for a moment then returned the hug then they turned and together looked at the stars.
