In response to my most recent guest reviewer, thank you very much for your input. Don't think that this update is the end of things. This is only one of their obstacles. I do like your idea and it will be coming into play, I just won't say when. I do intend to make this a very long story. One story that I wrote lasted for over 60 chapters, and it would have gone further if the forum that it was posted to hadn't been deleted. For this story, I'm looking at at least 75 chapters. Please keep the review coming everyone! I absolutely love your input and I most definitely take all of it into consideration. I also want to give a heads up that I am working on another story, just not for Divergent. It is for the If I Stay mini-series-thingy. If you've read those books and were left wanting more like I was, keep your eye out for it. The first chapter will be posted on February 14, but I will post an introduction to the characters before that. I also have just noticed that a couple chapters back I gave out an email address for you guys to be able to contact me, but the ending was erased by the site. It's tris_4_eaton a t yahoo . com (without the spaces and with the proper symbol of course). Feel free to email me anytime guys! This update isn't as long as I hoped it would be, but when I got to the last line, I knew that I had to end it there. I will post another chapter by the end of this week, I promise! Love you guys!

"So you're just going to stand there?" I ask, sensing his presence.
Still silence.
"Why did you even come back here if you have nothing to say?" I ask while I turn to face him.
His face is red and puffy, as are his eyes. I can see the stains of tears on his cheeks and moisture in his eyes. He looks so small standing in front of me right now. Like the little boy that lived in an Abnegation house, standing inside his bedroom, waiting. Waiting for Marcus. I don't like it. But as much as I don't like it, I fight the urge to go to him.
"I..." He tries to say but his voice fails him.
I look deep into his eyes. In them is a look I've never seen before. A look of defeat. A look of guilt.
"Well, then I guess I'm going to pack my things," I can feel my pulse quicken. "You can go find Nita and tell her that I'm out of the way."
I push past him and go to get the bag that I used to bring my stuff home in from the hospital.
"No!" He suddenly blurts out, his voice not sounding like his own. "Nita is nothing. I don't know why I said that! I think I was just trying to find something that I could use to argue."
"Of course you're going to say that," I roll my eyes.
"It's true! I was drunk," he protests.
"Oh, I know you were drunk," I yell. "I've never seen you act like that, Tobias Eaton."
"Okay, yeah I had a few too many, but.."
"No," I interrupt him. "You had more than a few too many. I've seen you after you had a few too many. You were calm. You were kind. You told me I looked good. I told you that you shouldn't drink by the chasm. Last night, you were not calm. You were not kind. You tried to hit me."
"Tris, you know I didn't mean that," his eyes water. "You know you weren't the target."
"Oh, so you had every intention of punching a hole through our wall, and you had every intention of making that hole just centimeters from my face?" I scoff.
"No," he admits.
"Exactly," I shake my head.
"I wasn't finished," he says quickly. "I was drunk. I had no intention of actually connecting with anything. It was a wild swing. It wasn't calculated. I didn't aim for anything, especially not you. I would never do that to you, Tris."
There are tears flowing down his cheeks now. He looks like a child. Scared and alone, hiding from his father.
"I remember Tris," he continues. "During the attack on Abnegation. When I was being controlled. I remember what happened. What I did to you. What I was trying to do. That is the only nightmare that I have now. You know," he comes closer to me, "you know I would never hurt you. You gave me a reason to be here. You are the greatest gift I could have ever received. I love you so much, Tris. I would never hurt you. I will never hurt you again. I promise you. I promise you I will never take another drink. I promise."
Tears are running down his cheeks profusely and his breathing is labored. His skin is pale. I can't stand it anymore. I close the gap between us and take him into my arms. He almost collapses into me and I have to take a few steps back to regain my footing. He wraps his arms around my waist and squeezes me so tightly I have to physically loosen his grip. I can feel his tears making my hair wet. He nuzzles into the top of my scalp and I can feel his muscles slowly loosening, his breathing calming. Once he's completely relaxed and calm, I slide out from his embrace and look into his eyes.
"Tobias," I say slowly.
"I know," he frowns. "It's not enough."
"No," I shake my head. "I love you."
He quickly pulls me into his arms and holds onto me tightly. He winds his fingers into my hair and kisses me hard on the mouth. He picks me up and carries me into the bedroom, laying me gently on the bed. He pulls his shirt off and kisses my neck softly as he lays down on top of me. As he starts to raise the waistband of my shirt, we hear someone pounding on the door. He sighs and slowly walks to the front door.
All is silent for a moment, but then I hear hushed voices in the living room. I fix my clothes and quietly pad across the room to the edge of the door frame. The whispers are so quiet that I cannot make out the words, but I can tell that there are two female voices present. I stick my head a little bit closer to the door. I hear Tobias's voice and then Evelyn's. Then I hear Nita. I hear Tobias again, his whispers sound harsh. I hear someone slam the front door and then Evelyn speaks again. I back away from the door slowly and take a deep breath before I exit the bedroom.
"Oh, Evelyn, Tobias didn't mention that you would be stopping by," I say. announcing my presence in the room and the conversation.
"Prior," she nods her head my way. "It was unplanned."
"Oh, well then you won't mind coming back at a later time, then," I say with the same fake tone that she's using. "Tobias and I were kind of in the middle of something."
I walk over to him and slide my arm around his waist. Typically, giving anyone a glance into my private life, especially the romantic aspects of it, would make me really uncomfortable; however, at this moment, it gives me some sick satisfaction. The fact that Evelyn came here with Nita tells me that she's in on whatever it is that's been going on with her and Tobias. I still don't know exactly what that is. I don't know much about what has happened lately, but I do know that Evelyn is dead-set against me. No matter what is or isn't going on between Tobias and Nita, this isn't about that. This is a completely different war than the one that we just got done fighting. This war is completely personal.
