Chapter 7
'I shouldn't have played with the Bunsen burner. I know I shouldn't have set the table on fire. Now, I'm going to die. I'm going to die, just like Dad, and then it'll all be over. This burning feeling in my chest, will all be over, and I'll rest in peace… or in pieces.' Draco mumbled to himself, lost in the midst of the flames.
Absentmindedly, Draco reached out a hand and played with the flames that danced in front of his eyes.
He smiled to himself and thought, 'I really must be dead now. Or maybe this is what dying is – painless, fire. It's such a relief to be free of my mortal constraints.'
"Hello?" a voice asked, bursting through Draco's train of thought.
Draco blinked. "Huh?"
"Ahhhh there you are," The voice said again, and a cold blue hand shot out, and grabbed hold of Draco's red, flame-encased hand, and pulled.
"Are you an angel?" Draco asked as he found himself being pulled firmly against a cool, soft blue human-like being. Cold hands ran themselves through his hair, and over his face, and wrapped themselves around his body, holding Draco close. Draco felt soothed and the flames around him began to flicker and burn a pure blue flame.
"No I'm not, I'm just your neighbourhood water-dragon" The angel replied.
Draco found himself staring into the deep blue eyes that he had secretly been dreaming about since that collision with Ron at the library.
"Ronald. Ronald Weasley?!" Draco gasped.
"Oh God" Ron replied, caught between disgust and bewilderment.
