R is for Rest
Jamie woke up feeling horrible. He couldn't breath through his nose and he could barely talk from his sore throat. He was grateful that that it was his day off and he could spend the whole day sleeping. But his neighbors had other plans. They were sawing and hammering away upstairs. His head pounded with each pound of the hammer. He finally decided to get up and make some tea. He stood and fell back on his bed, the room spun. Jamie closed his eyes till the feeling passed. He stood up slowly and shuffled to the kitchen.
He had the tea-pot on the stove, when someone knocked on the door. Jamie groaned. He decided not to answer it, but then he heard a key in the door and regretted giving Danny a key.
"Hey Kid, I know you're home." Danny walked into the kitchen and stopped when he saw Jamie." You look like crap, kid."
"I feel worse than I look." Danny placed a hand on Jamie's head.
"You're burning up. Back to bed." Danny gave Jamie a little push. "I'm going to make you some soup and some tea." Danny winced when more pounding echoed from upstairs. "On second thought, you're coming to my house."
Jamie was too tired to protest, so he let Danny grab a few of his things and lead him out to the car. The light hurt Jamie's eyes do he closed them on the car ride. Next thing he knew Danny was gently shaking him awake.
"Hey kid, you too tired to walk?" Jamie shook his head. Danny helped him out of the car and into the house Jamie collapsed on the couch and was out in seconds.
"Get some rest baby bro, I'll be right beside you." Danny sat at the end of the couch and placed Jamie's feet in his lap. He flipped on the TV. Danny looked at his brother's sleeping face and remembered all the times he had sat like this with Jamie, when they were younger.
"I love ya kid."
"Love ya too Danny." It was just a whisper, but Danny heard it and it made him smile.
Sorry this chapter is so short.
