So yes, finally, here is...

Chapter 19

Draco and Ron walked for a few minutes in the bright blinding light in silence. As the light grew simmer, the boys heard sounds of people talking, singing and laughing all around them, but they could not see anyone anywhere. However the boys were not frightened or scared in any way; there was so much magic humming in the air, it was amazing. Amazing and welcoming at the same time.

"Oh, this must be the Empress State! This must be why Gerdion had told me to look for the bright light" Ron suddenly said.

A second later, they were looking at the Empress State. As they stepped out of a ring of white fire, they steppe into a huge throne room. There were towering arched windows which had no glass in them which overlooked beautiful flourishing countryside that dipped into a great blue sea. The room was floor to ceiling marble, and animal skins lay on the floor as rugs.

The air was fresh and crisp, and something about the atmosphere made their mind's eye open up like a clean lens. The voices were all beautiful and musical, just like how Draco and Ron sounded when they spoke in their Dragon forms, but all around them were people, dressed in long foreign looking garments and holding staffs or jewels in their hands like talismans.

A pair of arms encircled Draco and Ron from the back, causing the boys to start.

"Welcome dragonlings, we have been expecting you," Gerdion's impressive voice said and as the pair turned around to find that is was Gerdion who had embraced them.

"Gerdion!" Ron exclaimed in surprise and delight. Draco immediately recognized the power he and chosen to ignore that night when he had turned to the potions room, and immediately regretted his choice; this creature was magnificent.

"I'm glad you both found your way successfully over here. Come this way, the King and Queen wish to meet you" Gerdion explained and ushered the two of them up to the Thrones.

The Queen, not even bothering to wait for them to finish climbing the many stairs it took to reach the thrown, swept off her throne and glided down the stairs to embraced the boys. She pulled back and smiled gently down at them.

"For a time, we shall have you under our care, yes? We have yet to determine how we can best help such young ones such as yourself, but if you linger amongst us, we will see what it is that needs to be done" The Queen told them and smiled.

"Yes. Relax, play. Drink of our wines and eat of our foods. If we see your habits, your likes and dislikes, we will have a better report to use as a correspondence to your world. We might even steal you away for ourselves if you like it here enough" The King smiled and said, joining in to stand beside his Queen.

Ron and Draco looked at each other and grinned. This was amazing. They had just been welcomed into the Royal Family of the Empress State. No one had to tell them how privilege that made them!

"T-Thank you, your royal highness," Ron said and half bowed due to the space constraints.

"Oh think nothing of it. We help our own, right my love" The Queen said and placed a hand on the King's arm.

"Yes, of course, my love. Take whatever you need my children, you are free to come and go as you please. Gerdion, why not show these youngsters around the palace. Let them have a feel of the place" The King beamed.

"Very Well your Majesties," Gerdion said and bowed low, then straightened up and beckoned Ron and Draco " Come, let our grand tour begin" He smiled and the trio left the throne room in the wake of twittering voices and curious stairs by the court of the Empire State.

Gerdion took them around the Royal Palace. Gerdion explained that the castle had been created by several architects that had joined forces to create this masterpiece using shear mind-bending alone. The whole castle was the highest point of the and, which was also at the edge of a cliff, to capture the purest of air and magic. There was no glass in any of the windows so that dragons could fly in and fly out of the palace at all times. Down below was the dwelling place of the subjects of that land, who lived in similar open-concept lodgings, which were still massive as they catered to both dragons and humans alike, depending on how the owner chooses to wear his skin that day.

"I'll take you to your rooms so that you and your mate can rest for the day" Gerdion smiled, leading them through one of many gardens that the palace had. Gardens would pop up all of a sudden in the middle of large corridors, or rooms would be built around gardens as these were considered 'snack-bars' as dragons could munch on the figs or nuts that grew abundantly on the trees, or even sleep in the cool shade of the willow trees that were present in the gardens. The palace was so huge, it was could have fit several islands in its midst and still have space for a small city.

"W-Why do you say, mate? Do you mean –" Ron began.

Gerdion stopped and turned sharply around to stare at both of them.

"You mean you two don't see it, up until now?" Gerdion asked, looking highly amused.

"See what?" Draco asked.

Geridon took Draco's Left hand, and Ron's right hand and held them up with a gap in-between.

"What do you see?" Gerdion asked.

The boys stared at the space hard.

"Air" Ron said.

"Space," Draco said.

Gerdion looked at the both of them and his smile grew wider "You need to open your eyes wider. No wonder you two have practically been broadcasting your attachment to each other!" Geridon said and shook his head. "Alright, I'll add a spark to it, but if you practice long enough, eventually you both will gain the sight, and this will be a very easy thing to spot out on your own"

Geridon snapped his fingers between the two hands, and a spark ignited the air. Only, that's not the only thing it ignited. A web of interwoven electrical channels shot alive all over Ron and Draco's bodies. The electrical fields around Draco and Ron were the same colour – a shimmering white-blue.

"The thing is, we all have these channels, but when two dragons are bound, soul to soul, they share these channels and the colour of this electrical field becomes the same. It is very possible to untangle yourselves from each other and get back to your original energy channels, but with the lack of experience you have, and your terrible lack of sight, that will have to come later" Geridon smiled and turned around "Now, to your rooms"

Draco and Ron swallowed hard and looked at each other. All this time they were thinking they were avoiding the topic when instead, they were blatantly advertising it.

"Come along, we don't have all day," Gerdion said; which the two boys were staring at each other, he had already gone a good ten paces in front to them.

"R-right," Ron said, snapping out of it, and quickly caught up with Gerdion with Draco following behind sheepishly.

"Well, that explains why Silvia never jumped me again after the first time" Ron snickered.

Draco punched him on the arm and rolled his eyes. "Trust you to remember something like that after what? Three months?"

"Ow!" Ron pouted, then grinned sheepishly when Draco narrowed his eyes in Ron's direction.

"You want another one?" Draco growled.

"Nope, I'm good" Ron replied, putting some distance between himself and an obviously seething-with-jealousy Draco Malfoy.

Draco and Ron were given adjacent rooms. In fact, there was a door connecting them. It did wonders to their imagination, but when they glanced at each other, they were far too embarrassed to even begin to mention the wandering thoughts they both had.

"Oh, and before I go, I wanted to inform you that since you have come within the Solstice of your time, you should have about two weeks on our side. That means that after two weeks if you decided to return to your world, you will return to it exactly at the exact same time which you left it. If you stay any longer, then the days will move just as they do on your world. Alright, I'll fetch you both later for dinner, don't do anything too rough with each other while I'm gone" Gerdion grinned and winked, and then left the two of them alone.

"Thank you, Sir!" Draco called out after Gerdion as he left.

Draco turned and found himself bumping into Ron, who was staring awkwardly at his feet.

"Sorry," Draco said and Ron said in unison, then blushed and sort of walked around each other.

"Well err, I'm just going to...take a nap," Ron said as Draco walked to his door.

Draco looked back. For a moment, he felt as if he wanted to say something, then he turned the doorknob to his door.

"Ok, I'll see you later," Draco said to the door. He could feel his face turning red. He went into his room and shut the door behind him, and leaned against the door, a hand over his racing heart. He was so hoping that Ron would knock on his door and barge in, and take what was rightfully his - Draco's love. Minutes passed as he waited in anticipation...would choose to come in?

In the meantime, Ron lingered in the corridor for a few more minutes, gazing at Draco's door. He wanted so badly to go into that room with Draco. He raked his brain for a reason, an excuse. What could he say to get Draco to let him in, in more ways that one

.

However, Ron couldn't think of anything. He sighed, ran a hand over Draco's door, and then he too went inside his room and closed the door behind him.
