Tears streamed down Jamie's face as he stood on the stone structure. He had been contemplating this for a long time and he finally decided to do it. He looked down and the cold, rough water below him. He knew under that flowing water, there lay sharp rocks. He looked up to the sky.

Forgive Me. He took a small step closer to the edge. Now his toes hung off the edge. He closed his eyes and was about to jump, when a voice called to him. He opened his eyes and looked to his right. Danny was running as fast as he could towards the bridge. More tears came to Jamie's eyes. HE didn't want Danny to see this.

"Go away, Danny."

"Jamie, please don't do this." Danny slowed down and Jamie could see the tears in his eyes. "Jamie, please."

"There's nothing left to live for." Jamie hung his head. "Mom and Joe are gone."

"But I'm still here. So is Dad and Erin. We love you Jamie." Danny took another cautious step forward. "Jamie I don't know what I'd do if I lost you too." Danny wiped the tears from his eyes.

Jamie looked back at the flowing water below him.

"You'll be fine, Danny. You're stronger and braver than I am." Jamie shuffled even closer to the edge. Now almost half his foot hung off the edge. Danny stepped closer.

"Please, Jamie." Danny was now touching the bridge and was only three feet from Jamie. "Jamie...I'm begging you." Jamie refused to look back at Danny. Danny suddenly jumped onto the bridge next to Jamie. "Fine. If you are going to jump then I am too." Jamie opened his eyes and looked Danny in the eyes.

"No! You can't. You have so much to live for."

"So do you." Jamie went back to watching the water below him. "I know it seems hard at the moment, but it will get easier. The pain may never go away, but it will get easier to deal with." Danny sat down, with his legs hanging over the edge. "All I ask is for you to give life a chance." Danny wiped the tears from his eyes and reached a hand out to Jamie.

Jamie hesitated and then placed his hand in Danny's. He slowly sat down and slid off the bridge. Danny pulled Jamie close and whispered in his ear.

"You are one of the most important people in my life. I can't lose you. You have such a great life ahead of you. You have so much to live for, so many memories to make. And as long as my heart is beating, I'm here for you. I love you kid and I would do anything for you. Please, don't ever leave me by choice." Danny was crying as he finished. Jamie pulled Danny into a tighter hug.

"I'm sorry Danny. My sadness and pain, clouded my judgment. I love you, too. You're the best big brother." Jamie felt warm in Danny's loving arms. Warmth that had been missing from his life since his mother and Joe passed.

The two brother's hugged for a bit longer and then made their way to Jamie's apartment.
