A/N: Hey all, I'm back! I'm trying to finish the stories that I've left unfinished the longest. I know – I know. I'm horrible. There are about three or four chapters left in this story, including this one. Hope you enjoy it! Reviews would be lovely.
Lots of love,
Anneryn
I DO NOT OWN LIFE WITH DEREK OR THE CHARACTERS.
Chapter Nine:
I did my best to tune out Derek and his annoying female friend as I made sandwiches. Jace came over again. I figured it'd be the easiest way to forget that Derek was flirting with some girl. Every time she laughs, it's like nails on a chalkboard.
"Almost finished?" Jace asked me. I looked over at him and nodded.
"You wanna eat out front? It's so nice out today." I asked him. He grinned and nodded.
"Sounds great," He agreed, as I grabbed the plates and followed Jace to the front door. He opened the door for me and I felt Derek's eyes burning a hole through my back. "You look really nice today, Liz." He smiled at me, as I sat down next to him. I grinned and kissed his cheek.
"Thank you. You don't look so bad, yourself." I mused, as I started to eat my food. He looked at me, like he wanted to say something, but just watched me as I chewed. I opened my mouth, as soon as I swallowed. I was about to ask him what he was staring at, but then his lips were on mine. It took me a minute to kiss him back. It was soft and sweet and impossible to resist. I heard the door behind us open, but I didn't pull away. Derek cleared his throat and Jace gave me another chaste kiss. I glanced at Derek and he was fuming. He gave us a tight smile and Jace didn't seem to notice how pissed off he was.
"I just wanted to see if the two of you needed anything." Derek offered, through gritted teeth. Both of us shook our heads.
"I've got food and a beautiful girl keeping me company. I don't need anything else." Jace smiled. He unknowingly added salt to Derek's wounded ego. I smirked, but quickly hid it.
"Baby, are you coming? You're missing the best part of the movie!" Derek's date whined. He grimaced, before turning around and smiling at her.
"Sorry to keep you waiting." He apologized, lamely.
"Don't let it happen again." She whined, again. Jace and I chuckled quietly. She looked like she was going to say more, but Derek pressed his lips to hers in what looked like a bruising kiss. I tried to ignore the jealously that grew in my stomach.
"Let's go." He said, pulling away and leading her back inside.
"Where were we?" Jace asked, before kissing me again, before Derek shut the front door. Oh, yeah. I have a feeling that we're both going to be paying for making each other jealous tonight.
