When I first played mine craft, I started with my first single player world. There wasn't much I did except for the stupidest thing I've ever done. I found a small ravine that reached out to the surface. I only mined down to reach some of the ores on the walls. But when I was trying to parkour to another side of the ravine, which was only 1 block wide. I fell, forgetting to press the spacebar, into a pit between a water and lava fall. Before realizing there was lava, it was to late. The water pushed me over to the lava, killing me and destroying my stuff. Then I was like: time to find cows :3
