Deleted chapters

Deleted chapter from Rio the series 5.

Alright, everyone, this is a deleted chapter from Rio the series 5. As you all know, Jewel has been a free-spirited bird all of her life and Blu has been a domesticated bird for all his life. What would happen if they both switched lives for a while to what each other's lives were like?

Let's find out shall we?

It was a beautiful, relaxing morning throughout the Jungle of Rio de Janeiro. Amongst the many birds of the Jungle, the two blue macaws named Blu and Jewel were together, sitting on the edge of their tree hollow, watching their four children play with each other.

Jewel sighed as she leaned her head down against her husband's shoulder, snuggling closer to him. "Hmm, this is the life, isn't it, Blu?"

"It sure is, Jewel." Blu enthusiastically agreed, placing his feathery wing over his beautiful wife. "It couldn't be a better life, Jewel."

"Yep." she agreed, still making herself comfortable into her husband's bushy feathers. "It's better than your old life as a nerdy bird at the bookstore, right?"

Blu then arched a curious eyebrow after he heard Jewel mention about his old life at the bookstore. He removed his wing from around Jewel and decided to question her about what she just said. "Jewel, my life at the bookstore wasn't bad. I loved it."

"I know you did, Blu." Jewel agreed, smirking as she prepared to say something that may cause Blu to be a little irritated. "But it's a good thing you meant me. Or else you would never be able to survive out here on your own."

"Please." Blu snorted, before laughing a little in response, not believing his wife couldn't think he could survive in the Jungle all on his own. "If it's anything, you would never last a day living you life like I use to."

"Is that what you think?" Jewel inquired, smirking a little as she had just thought of an idea she could do for fun. "Okay, Blu. I am preparing to make a little bet with you."

"I'm listening." Blu replied.

"We take the kids to your mothers for a while, and then me and you will switch each other's lives. You have to live in this Jungle on your own, and I will live at Linda's bookstore. We both have to do this for one week." Jewel explained, as she stood up with her husband and held out her talon towards him so they could shake. "Deal?"

Blu grinned in response, thinking he might be able to actually win this bet that his beloved wife was offering. He agreed to her terms by accepting her talon shake, agreeing to this little bet of hers. "You have yourself a deal, Jewel. And what happens if one of us gives up?"

"Hmmm." she thought, placing a single wingtip on under her chin, thinking of a good punishment that could happen if one of the was to loose. She clicked her wingtips together after finally thinking of an idea. "Okay, Blu. If one of us caves in, the loser has to do what the winner wants to for ONE entire day."

"Hmm, telling Jewel what to do for one day?" Blu thought, smirking across his beak, thinking of the idea of him being able to tell Jewel to do things for him for one entire day. It must be a dream! He agreed to her terms without hesitation. "Deal."

Later that day, it was time for the Blue Macaws to agree on their little bet together. Rey, Azul, Crystal and Jessica had been taken to Blu's mothers to stay there until the bet was up. Blu was now living all alone in his tree hollow while Jewel was at Linda's, both of them trying to live each other's lives.

At Blu's tree hollow, Blu chuckled as he sat down by the hollow exit/entrance and watched the beautiful sky, thinking that he could win this bet he and his wife had now declared. "Jewel saying I can't survive here on my own? Please. How hard can it be? I have a tree to live in, I know where the food is, and I got a huge Jungle to fly around in. It doesn't seem that tough to me."

Before long, Blu decided to go for a fly around the Jungle to pass the time. He extended his feathery wings out and took flight out from the tree hollow and through the beautiful Jungle of Rio de Janeiro.

He sang quietly to himself while he performed a barrel-roll for fun. "#Say you, say me, say it all together. That's the way it should be. Naturally#"

The blue macaw soon spotted a familiar face flying around the Jungle too. It was Rico, who was flying around in circles for some unknown reason. Blu decided to investigate what he was doing, and to say "Hi" of course.

"Hey, Rico." Blu greeted, watching the hawk flying around in circles still like he was looking for something or someone. "What are you doing?"

"A Blue-fronted Amazon macaw came by earlier and stole my orange!" Rico answered, not happy when someone takes something from him that was important to him. Especially his favorite food, but lucky for the macaw, he didn't take Rico's beer. "As soon as I find him, I am gonna teach him some manners."

"Uhhh, good luck with that." Blu wished, carefully flying away from the black hawk so he didn't do anything to make him angry, especially now. "I will see you later."

"Adios." Rico bidden farewell, waving his wing back towards Blu while still keeping eye-contact down with the ground.

Meanwhile, at the blue macaw's bookstore, Jewel was sitting on Linda's couch in the upstairs part of the bookstore that was Linda's home. She was bored already, not really knowing how humans lived.

"Man, this is boring." Jewel sighed to herself, placing a wing under her chin while looking towards the TV which to her it was a strange, black box thingy. "What am I suppose to do around here? Blu said he was here for 15 years. I can't even handle handle 15 minutes of this."

The blue macaw was soon accompanied by Linda, who had walked into her living room upstairs, holding a tray with a cup of hot chocolate with a couple of cookies and a couple of fruits too.

She sat down on the same couch as Jewel, knowing about Blu's little bet after he explained it to her with a pencil and paper, and placed the tray down onto the table in front of her.

Linda picked up the couple of fruits in a small bowl and placed it front of Jewel for her to eat something. "Here you go, Jewel. Blu tells me how you like fruits."

Jewel eyed the fruits in the small bowl cautiously, wondering if any of this food was going to be bad or not. She picked up a grape out from the bowl into her talon and placed it into her beak, chewing carefully on it.

After she swallowed it, a smile raised upon her beak, enjoying the fresh food that had been delivered to her by the Linda. "Hmmm, hey, this food isn't bad. In fact, it's not bad at all."

Jewel dug her head into the bowl and eat out it's contents such as the grapes, mangoes, and oranges. She finished the entire bowl in under a minute and fell down onto the couch, completely full from the food. "Hmmm, that was tasty."

Now that she had something to eat at least, Jewel decided to explore the bookstore a little to get to know her surroundings. Since it was a Saturday and the bookstore was closed, she was free to do whatever she liked.

Jewel flew out from the living room until she spotted an open door. She flew inside to investigate and by the looks of it, this was Linda's and Tulio's bedroom.

Jewel perched herself down onto the bed and looked around to see if she could find anything interesting for her to look at. Jewel looked upon the wall where she saw different types of pictures of Blu and Linda together. They must be from the olden days when they are living in Minnesota, or as Jewel liked to call it "Tinysota".

There was a picture of Linda feeding Blu when he was just a baby, a picture of Blu and Linda with a couple of other kids and a birthday cake (possibly Blu's first birthday), and there was one more picture in black and white with the title labeled "Spelling Bee Champ!"

"Wow, these are so good pictures." Jewel had to admit, until she spotted one more picture on a small table beside Linda's bed. She flew over towards it to examine the picture.

It was a picture of Blu and Linda together as adults with a pink frame and the words "Best Friends" labeled onto it.

"Awww." Jewel cooed, finding it to be kind of adorable that Linda and Blu had such a close relationship.

Now she finally understood why Blu loved it here so much. When Jewel first met Blu, she immediately assumed Linda was just another evil human that took away Blu's freedom, but now she understood why they were so close. They were together for such a long time as best friends, caring for one and other. What was Jewel thinking?

"I was wrong." Jewel thought, a couple of tears rolling from her eyes, now a little ashamed that she judged Linda too wrong. She wiped away her tears with her talon toes before someone would walk in and notice. "Linda's not a bad person. She's kind and sweet. I was wrong to judge her. Like this..."

Meanwhile, back in the Jungle of Rio de Janeiro, Blu was sitting by a nearby cliff (the same one he, Rafael, and Jewel were when Rafael first tried to teach Blu how to fly which ended miserably). He sat by the edge of the beach, gazing upon the many residents of Rio below.

It was a great view for looking towards the beach and there was even a couple of people on hang gliders.

"Ahhh, this is relaxing." Blu talked to himself, before taking a bite out from the banana he had brought with him for a snack. He smirked when he realized he was getting the hang of this life already. "Oh, Jewel is NOT going to win this bet. I'm going to make her do whatever I like. I think first I will make her massage my talons and then go and get me some food. Maybe I can even make her embarrass herself in public. Oh, this is going to be great when I win!"

The blue macaw was so determined he could win this little bet of theirs. However, he did have to admit he was missing his family a little. His wife, his three children, and his little baby girl.

He sighed when he now understood how Jewel must have felt when she was living alone in the Jungle after her family were killed. Blu wiped a tear from his eyes when he realized how much pain Jewel was in after living alone for so long. "I guess this is a little bad though. Jewel was alone almost all of her life until she met me...I shouldn't have judged her saying this was going to be easy...I guess I understand now how she felt."

The next day, both Blu and Jewel had left the bookstore and the Jungle for a little fresh air and to take their minds away after what happened. They both traveled to the Christ the Redeemer Statue, unaware that the other was going to be there too.

When they arrived, both Blu and Jewel immediately saw each other standing on the Statue's arms so they ran towards each other to greet.

"Blu, what are you doing here?" "Jewel, what are you doing here?" the lovebirds asked simultaneously together.

"I was...Just getting some fresh air." Blu answered out of the question he and Jewel both asked at the exact same time.

"Me, too." Jewel said, before sighing when she had a little confession to make with her husband. "Blu, there's something I need to talk to you about."

"Me, too, Jewel." Blu said, but allowed his beloved wife to ask first. "What's on your mind?"

"While I was at Linda's, I now understand why you love her much and why she loves you too." Jewel answered, rubbing one of her wings with the other a little nervously. "And I would just like to say I am sorry for judging her too wrong."

Blu was quite surprised that Jewel actually felt emotional over someone who wasn't even her kind. But still, he too had something to say. "Jewel, I'm sorry too. I thought a life like yours was great and you could do what you liked. But now I know how lonely you were, and I am sorry for saying it was a great while when it wasn't."

The lovebirds finished making their apologizes with each others before they moved their wings around each other into a hug. They held each other in a warm embrace in their light and dark blue wings, and decided this silly charade was over and their little bet was called off.
