Jamie walked back to the car with two coffee cups in hand. Eddie happily took one and took a long drink, savoring the warmth. The radio crackled to life. Jamie picked it up and answered back. They were only a couple blocks away. They pulled up to the apartment and went to the second floor. They could hear yelling.

"You're worthless!" A woman was screaming. "I'm going to kill you! Get over here!"

"Just out the gun down!" Jamie and Eddie shared a look and the Eddie called for backup. They kicked down the door and entered with their guns drawn. The woman swung around and aimed the gun at the two officers.

"Get out of my house!"

"Ma'am. I can't do that. Put the gun down and we can talk."

"I don't want to talk I want the cheating asshole out of my house."

"I didn't cheat on you baby."

"Yea, and the undies I found in your briefcase are yours then?"

"No, I bought them for you."

"I don't believe you!"

"Ma'am, put the gun down." Eddie was right next to Jamie. Jamie slowly circled over so he was a few feet from the husband. "You need to put the gun down, or we might have to use force." The woman kept her gun trained on her husband.

"I don't care what happens to me. I just want this cheater dead."

Two gun shots rang out. Jamie knew the woman was going to shoot and as the gun went off he jumped in front of the man. The woman feel to the ground and Eddie slowly lowered her gun. She shook with adrenaline and fear. She had just shot and killed a woman. She looked for her partner and found him on the ground. She gasped.

"Jamie!" She ran to his side and yelled into her radio.

"Officer Down!" she flipped Jamie onto his back. He cough and groaned.

"It's in the vest." Eddie almost laughed.

"You scared that crap out of my Reagan. I'm still making you go to the hospital." Jamie tried to object but Eddie glared at him.

"Fine." Jamie sat up slowly. The man recovered from his shock and sank to his knees, next to his dead wife. He pulled her close and sobbed. Eddie walked over to him and tried to calm him.

"She went off her medication. She gets these crazy ideas that I'm cheating. This is the first time she ever threatened to kill me. Most of the time she is upset but I can talk her down and get her to take her medication."

"I'm so sorry. I didn't have a choice." The man nodded. In an instant the room was flooded with police officers and paramedics. Eddie guided them to Jamie. She waved by as the other officers took her gun and whisked her away for questioning.

Jamie was in and out of the hospital in a little over an hour. He met up with Eddie and she said that everything had gone fine and she was cleared for duty. They went to a bar and grabbed a drink.

"You sore?"

"Yeah, getting hit that close, cracked a couple ribs. But I'm good."

"Good enough to dance?" Jamie eyed her, then he smiled.

"Yeah, I'm good enough to dance." They got up and went to the dance floor. Eddie giggled as Jamie spun her. They danced until they were both out of breath. They went back to the bar.

"Cheers to making this city a better place." They clanked their bottles together.
