Jamie sat at a park bench. His cup off coffee, had grown cold and he let out a sigh as he checked the time. Jamie dialed Danny's number and placed the phone to his ear. It rang a couple times, before Danny picked up.

"Reagan."

"Hey Danny."

"What's up kid?"

"I thought we were supposed to meet up in the park and grab lunch?"

"That was today?"

"Yea."

"Sorry kid. There was a kidnapping and I've been trying to find this little girl."

"It's fine Danny. We can do it next week."

"Thanks kid."

"I'll keep an eye out for your missing girl. What does she look like?"

"She's about six. Brown hair, green eyes, she was last seen wearing a red winter coat with a pink hat." Jamie walked to a garbage can as Danny described the little girl. "We think her neighbor took her. He's about five foot ten inches, heavy build." Jamie looked up as he heard a girl whimpering. His blood ran cold as he watched the little girl Danny had just described walk past him. Jamie lowered his voice and cautiously followed.

"Danny, I found your missing girl." Danny jumped from his chair and started to run to the parking lot, hollering for backup as he went. "Jamie keep eyes on them, but do not engage, he is dangerous." Jamie continued to follow the kidnapper and update Danny as to their location. Suddenly, they turned down an alley and Jamie quickened his pace. When he turned the corner, we was met with a gun to the face.

"Well isn't this interesting."

"Let the little girl go." Danny listened to Jamie on the other end of the line and pressed harder on the gas.

"That's funny, I thought I was the one with the gun, so I make the demands." Jamie closed his eyes for a brief second and thanked the lord that he happened to bring his gun and badge with him today.

"I'm giving you one more chance, let the girl go." The man laughed.

"You are one brave and stupid man." Jamie slowly put his hand on his gun, sirens blared close by and the man looked away for a second. Jamie pulled his gun out and fired. Two guns shots rang out, so close together that they sounded like one. Jamie watched as the kidnapper fell to the ground dead. The little girl was shaking as tears streamed down her face. Jamie went to step towards her but pain suddenly hit him. Jamie looked down and saw red rapidly growing across his shirt. Jamie's knees felt weak and he sank to the ground. His phone landed next to his head. Jamie could hear Danny yelling for him on the other end. He reached for it with weak hands.

"D-Danny."

"Jamie! What happened?"

"He's dead. T-the girl is s-safe."

"Jamie?"

"He g-got me g-good."

"Jamie hold on, I'm two minutes out."

"I-I'm sorry D-Danny."

"No Jamie, you hold on, you fight."

"I l-love y-you D-Danny." Danny fought back tears and slammed on the breaks, when he reached the site. On other cop car was there. One officer was helping the little girl to the car, the other was calling for an ambulance. Danny into the alley and stopped dead in his tracks. Jamie lay completely still on the cold concrete. His eyes were open and unseeing. Danny dropped to his knees and sobbed over Jamie's body.

"I told you not to engage. I-I..." A hand rested on Danny's shoulder and he looked up to find his father. He had unshed tears in his eyes. Danny stood and accepted his father's embrace.

A plaque was hung in the police department, it read; Jamie Reagan, a fallen hero. He will be in our hearts forever.
