The last thing Blu had remembered was witnessing that elite guard throwing a dark essence grenade towards him, and then after that, he slipped away from reality and lost conscious. He slowly began to regain his sight as he tried to open his eyes for a moment.
He had the feeling he was still in Nexus's castle, laying motionlessly on the ground all alone. However, despite his condition, he could make it what looked like a light, and he knew for a fact there was no light in Nexus's castle except for those dark essence flames that lit up the place.
After a couple of moments of struggling, Blu was able to open his eyes fully to see he was in a white room that looked very familiar. He groaned as he looked down and saw he was lying on a comfortable bird-size bed.
Almost immediately, Blu quickly leaned up and studied his surroundings to see he was back in the World of Light inside the medical room. He was started slightly when a familiar face appeared at the side of him and gentle lied him back down in the nest.
It was no other than the medic macaw who they had been with during their time in the World of Darkness. "Easy, Blu. Relax, you're safe."
Blu obliged and slowly leaned back down against the bed, resting his head in the center of the pillow. He only just noticed that he now had new bandages wrapped around his wing and news casts on his talons. And he now had more bandages wrapped around the center of his torso.
He now had proper medical care rather than that quick and cheapish treatment he had from the dark macaw doctor who had to bandage him up before sending him inside a prison cell.
His new bandages and casts were a slight glowing white color, and to his relief, they were much more comfortable.
"What happened to me?" Blu inquired, while placed his wings around his body.
"You were injured by one of Nexus's elite guards and were left unconscious." the medic macaw explained, lifting Blu's bad wing up for a moment to observe it carefully. "The Queen and the captain were able to rescue yours and Jewel's older selves. They got you back to the World of Light and trusted me to take care of you. I am the best medical macaw here."
Blu nodded his head slowly, but his eyes widened when he just heard the mention of his wife. "Jewel! My family, my friends!"
"Relax, all of them are here." the medic macaw assured, holding his wings against his shoulders to keep him from panicking and hurting himself further. "The Queen was able to send your older selves and the other Rico back to their world. They won't remember anything though."
Blu sighed in relief, but still wished to see someone to confirm they were here. "Where are my family?"
"Everyone else is in the guest rooms inside our castle." the medic macaw answered. He decided to now introduce himself properly to you. My name is Sadon."
"Nice to know your name." Blu admitted with a slight smile across his beak.
"Indeed it is." Sadon admitted, before standing aside when someone else approached. "I think someone is here to see you."
Blu watched as his beautiful wife stood beside him before she leaned down and embraced him in a hug. He returned the hug to her, happy to be holding her in his wings again.
"Blu, you're okay. I was so scared you weren't going to wake up." Jewel admitted, as tears began rolling down her eyes.
"It's okay, Jewel, I'm okay." Blu reassured, holding her close as he too wanted to cry. He continued holding her for a few moments before four other familiar faces appeared on the other side of the bed.
"Dad!"
"Dad!"
"Dad!"
"Daddy!"
Rey, Azul, Crystal, and Jessica appeared on the opposite side of Blu and jumped up to him and hugged him.
Blu smiled as he extended one of his wings and returned the hug to his four children, happy to have them with him again. "Hey kids, I'm so glad you're all here."
The blue macaw continued to embrace one another closely while Sadon merely watched. He allowed them to enjoy their moment while he went to check on a couple of patients in the next room.
After a few more moments, Jewel finally decided to end their hug and dried the tears in her eyes. She stood up and beckoned for her four children to follow her. "Come on, kids, I think we should let your father rest for a while."
The four blue macaw kids obeyed their mothers request and jumped off of their father. Jessica remained there for a few more seconds due to her being younger, she still felt lonely without her parents. Blu panted a kiss on her head before she joined the rest of her family.
Before leaving, Jewel leaned down and planted a kiss on Blu's beak. "Rest up, Blu. I love you."
"I love you too, Jewel." Blu replied, holding her wing for a moment as he looked into those beautiful eyes of hers.
Before long, Jewel and the kids left Blu's private medical room to give him some privacy. Now that Blu was in stable condition, he decided to get some rest for a little while, but he knew he would not have long. He hoped somehow the Angelus would heal him completely, but that was impossible. He may be the only one who could stop Nexus.
Meanwhile, back in the World of Darkness, Nexus the evil hawk marched up and down the ground in a large area in his castle. With him were Vadin and Kate, who both stood to his left and right at the ends of the room. Many dark macaws stood before him and were knelt down to him in respect.
Nexus was silently until now when he angrily screamed at his men. "NOT ONLY DID YOU LET INTRUDERS ENTER MY HOME, BUT YOU LET EACH OF THEM ESCAPE AND THEY RESCUED THE ANGELUS! YOU DARE CALL YOURSELVES SOLDIERS!?"
None of them dared say a word, even though they were technically being asked a question.
Nexus sighed in frustration as he stomped his talon against the ground, causing the ground to vibrate slightly due to his incredible strength. "Who was the one who was in charge of that squadron?"
A dark macaw Sergeant stood up in fear with his wing rose in the air.
Nexus beckoned for that dark macaw to stand before him. He watched as the Sergeant slowly stepped out of the crowd and stood before his King, kneeling down a couple of feet away from him. "Now, you were aware where they located. And you decide to send merely foot soldiers to bring down the Angelus! Why did you not bring stronger units? Even in her weak state, the Angelus is still powerful than a mere Private!"
"I-I-I did, L-L-Lord N-Nexus." the dark macaw replied, stuttering as he tried to explain his actions. "I brought one of your elite guards with them."
"My elite guards may be strong, but the Angelus is capable of beating only one of them their own! You should know my guards are unstoppable only when they are together!" Nexus shouted, growling angrily as he curled his wing into a fist. "Why did you not bring all four of them!?"
"I-I don't know!" the dark macaw admitted, his beak trembling in fear.
"You failed to uphold your duties, and you know the punishment for that." Nexus reminded him, now speaking in a calmer tone. He turned towards Mr. Kirilenko, who stood among the crowd, knelt down like the rest of them were. "Mr. Kirilenko, please teach our Sergeant here a lesson."
"What?!" the dark macaw jumped back in fear, as Mr. Kirilenko got up and approached. He begged for forgiveness, but his pleas did not get through to him. "Please, Lord Nexus! Have mercy!"
"It is for your own good." Nexus told him, while folding his wings together across his chest. "You will be physically tortured and will be demoted back to a Private for your failure. Kirilenko, take him away."
The dark macaw panicked as Kirilenko grabbed him in his one wing and proceeded to drag him out of the room. He attempted to get free, but the huge dark macaw would not dare let go. "No! Wait! NO!"
After he was gone, Nexus beckoned for the remaining dark macaws to rise while he remained them what happened to that Sergeant could happen to them if they were not careful. "Let him be an example to those who are stupid and do not think before they act. You are all dismissed."
The dark macaws nodded in respect and turned away simultaneously before marching out of the room. After they were gone, the doors closed behind them, leaving only Nexus and his two generals with him.
"Vadin, Kate, as you know, I now have the scroll. But it will take some time before I can attach myself to its power, and that is going to take some time." Nexus began to explain, while he marched up and down the area. "Until then, I have the feeling soldiers from the World of Light are going to attack. It is important we have every dark macaw present. Vadin, you get the mages prepared. Kate, I need you to get the captains ready for orders. Understood?"
"Yes, Lord Nexus." the duo replied simultaneously.
"Good." Nexus grinned, before beckoning for them to leave now that they had their orders. "Now, get going."
Before long, Nexus turned around and proceeded to leave this area and make his way back to his throne room. He used his powers to appear the scroll back into his wing that he slowly began to attach his powers to, but it was going to take at least a full day until it was time.
Until then, all he could do was wait. But he did not mind waiting after living for so long. Soon, he was going to be victorious. The Angelus stands no chance against him, Blu is too injured to face him, and there is no-one else with enough powers to stop him. He could not wait to spread evil and destroy his enemies.
Back in the World of Light, a few hours had passed since Blu had woke up, and since then, he had been getting some much needed rest. He had a good sleep since he was injured by Nexus. He hated not being able to fly or walk, but he was grateful that he would recover.
After a few hours of resting, Blu opened his eyes to see the World of Light had gone a little darker since he last checked, but it was still bright. He assumed it was nighttime here. He leaned up in his private room to see Sadon was still in there with him just in case he needed medical attention.
Sadon was sitting on a wooden chair and silently fiddling around with a combat stuff. He turned his attention around to see Blu wide awake and decided to get up and greet him. "Hey, Blu. How are you feeling?"
"Better than before." Blu admitted, placing his wings behind the back of his head.
"That's good." Sadon replied, walking closer to the injured blue macaw. "You probably can't tell, but it's nighttime here. You should try and get all the rest you need. The Queen has requested you visit her first thing in the morning."
"A visit?" Blu queried, wondering what the Angelus had planned that would make her request his presence. "What's going on?"
"I can't be too sure since I'm not a soldier, but my brother who is one of the Generals told me that they're planning an attack on Nexus's castle." Sadon explained, his expression looking somewhat worried. "I have the feeling our Queen wants you to take part in that battle."
"I would love nothing more than to stop Nexus, but this is a battle I'm going to have to sit out." Blu stated sadly, knowing he could not do anything to save the day this time. "In my condition, I can't be useful."
"Don't say that, Blu. You're not useless." Sadon assured, but he could see his words were not exactly getting through. He did not give up, nevertheless. "You were the one who escaped first in the prison and rescued all of us. Even in your condition, that didn't stop you."
"Those were just stealth attacks." Blu explained, while placing his wings back over his chest. "When it comes to actual battle, there will be nothing I can do."
"The Queen will think of something, Blu." Sadon reassured, raising a slight smile across his beak. "But you better get some rest for now. The Queen will decide our next plan of action in the morning."
Blu nodded in agreement as he closed his eyes and got back into his sleeping position. He was unsure on what the future holds for him, his family, his friends, and all of Rio de Janeiro's jungle.
All he could do was wait until the morning and see what the Angelus has planned.
Well, looks like things are not going well for our heroes. Blu is alive and well, but the bad news is, Nexus has his scroll and will only be a matter of time before he can access it. Will our heroes stop him in time? Stay tuned to find out.
