The smell of scrambled eggs was what woke him up. He turned on his back, looking over to Erin's spot, but she was nowhere to be seen. Well, obviously, since the scrambled eggs hadn't cooked themselves.

He stretched his arms over his head and breathed out slowly, looking out the big window on the far wall of their bedroom. The sky was clear of any cloud and the sun, tough shy of colour, was up high.

He padded barefoot to the kitchen and saw Erin where he had expected her to be, cooking breakfast.

"Smells good," he commented, and kissed her cheek from behind, his hand grazing her hip on his way to the fridge. He pulled out the carton of milk and grabbed the box of cereals from one of the cupboards. She watched in amusement as he poured cereals into a bowl and some milk over it. "What?"

"You're cute," She said, smiling the way he liked, with her dimples showing. "Eating cereals and all."

Kelly rolled his eyes and opened the fridge once more to put back the milk. When he closed the door, he spotted the photo of Erin's ultrasound.

"Are we going to keep this?" He asked, holding up the picture. Erin opened her mouth and closed it right after, not knowing what to say.

"I-I," she blinked and took a deep breath to regain her composure. "I want to move past it, not forget it."

"I understand," he said, and squeezed her shoulder to show her that he did understand. "But I think that maybe we should put it somewhere else? In an album or something? So that when we want to look at it we can, but we don't get a reminder that we lost our baby everyday when we want to get some milk?"

He spoke in the gentlest way possible, and cursed himself as Erin discreetly wiped a tear that had fallen down her face.

"Shit, I'm sorry," she whispered, and turned off the stove, heavily leaning onto the counter edge with both hands. He came up behind her and took hold of her shoulders, making her turn around.

"Don't apologize," He wiped her tears away with his thumbs. "I would rather see you cry and be able to comfort you than you keeping all of it away from me." He pressed his lips to her forehead, Erin leaning into his touch. "So what should we do about the picture?"

"You're right. You're right. We-we should have a box for everything that we had bought and keep it somewhere."

"Are you sure?" Kelly locked eyes with her and waited until she nodded. "I don't want to rush anything."

She pulled herself up on the tip of her toes and pecked his lips. "I'm sure."

"Okay," He smiled softly and kissed the tip of her nose. "I love you,"

"I love you too," she smiled back and then pushed against his chest. "Now eat your cereals, you goof."

Erin stopped by the firehouse while on duty, having some questions to ask Boden on details that could become important in pne of her on going cases. Looking around, she only saw Shay working around the ambo, as always.

"Erin, hey!" The blonde said enthusiastically when she saw the brunette approach. Erin waved awkwardly, her eyes widening when Shay pulled her into a tight hug. It took her a few seconds to recover before wrapping her own arms around her friend. Shay pulled away but kept her at arm length. "How are you? How was Boston?"

The brunette buried her hands into the pockets of her coat and forced a smile. "It felt good to get out of here."

"I'm glad," Shay squeezed her upper arm and let go, going back to storing supplies. "Are you here to see Kelly?"

Erin shook her head. "No, I'm actually here to see the Chief. Is he in his office?"

Shay nodded, "Yeah, go right in."

Erin pushed her hands deeper into her pockets and crossed the entrance to the firehouse, directly walking toward the chief's office. She cleared all details regarding the case and was on her way out of the firehouse when she felt two pairs of arms circle her waist.

"I saw a pretty girl walking down the hall and thought I would tell her hello," Kelly whispered into her ear, his hot breath tickling her neck. He lightly pushed her against the wall and set his hands on her hips.

"Is that right?" Kelly was about to kiss her but she only allowed him to brush his lips against her before pulling away. "Won't your girlfriend mind?"

He shrugged a shoulder. "Nah."

Erin smirked. "Well, you certainly have a nice girlfriend, lieutenant."

"Not only is she nice, she's also incredibly beautiful."

The detective rolled her eyes, "Sucker." This time, she let him capture her lips and was about to deepen it when the alarm sounded. Kelly groaned and Erin patted his chest. "Back to work."

He pecked her lips one last time. "I'll see you tomorrow night."

"Love you," she called out after him and he quickly responded before rounding the corner.

Hank Voight was going through some paperwork when someone knocked on his door. He looked up and saw Erin pop her head in.

"Can I come in?"

He nodded his head and motioned for her to sit across for him. Erin took a deep breath and looked at him in the eye. "Can I come back to work?"

Voight leaned back in his chair, entwined hands resting on his stomach. "Are you better?"

"I think so," she said, then blinked and nodded her head. "I am."

"How's it going with that firefighter?"

Erin frowned, cocking her head to the side. "What does that have to do with anything?"

"Are you still together?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Of course we're still together," Erin rasped out. "Why would you even ask me that?"

He stood up and marched over the window, turning her back to her. "Most couples don't last long after what happened to you two. Antonio and Laura almost didn't."

"Antonio and Laura? What are you talking abo-" Erin's eyes widened in realization and she shook her head to herself. "He never talks about it."

"It's been years. You had just arrived here. But he was a mess for a long time. Mainly because his couple was also having a difficult time," He turned back around and sighed. "That's why I want to make sure you guys are pulling through. I don't want to see you get hurt again, Erin."

She stood as well, and walked closer. "We're talking it out, Hank. It's still weird, but we need each other, we've realized that when I was away. I can't get past this without him by my side."

Hank took her hand and gave it a squeeze. "I'm glad you've found him."

She squeezed back. "Me too."

"So," Shay exclaimed with a raised eyebrow and crossed arms, asshe leant against the doorframe of Severide's office.

Severide drew his eyes away from his paperwork and cocked an eyebrow back at her. "So?"

"How's going with Erin?" She asked, and allowed herself to sit on the bed. Her friend rolled his eyes.

"It's only been a day, Shay," He said. "We need to talk it out."

"Right," The blonde nodded. "Be nice to her, alright? I would really like her to stick around."

Kelly threw a ball of paper at her, but the paramedic caught it with her hand, preventing it from hitting her in the face. "Nice reflex. And I'm always nice to her. I love her. It's just... we've been through a lot. What if, I ask the bad question or, if I say something that reminds her about the baby or something else... I can't stand watching her hurt."

Shay shrugged. "The first days are probably gonna get tough, I mean, you lost a baby. You can't be alright all of the sudden, it takes time. And I think she needs to have some fun. Dawson and I were thinking about inviting her for a girls night out. You think she'll say yes?"

Kelly smiled and leaned back in his chair, thinking of how lucky he was to have such girl as his best friend. "Probably. You have her number, right? You should call her."

"I will," She stood from the bed and bent down to kiss Kelly's cheek. "You'll be okay."

"How are you, Lindsay?" Antonio asked as he walked into the locker room. Erin was pulling her leather jacket on, getting ready to go investigate. "Feels good to be back at work?"

"Extremely," Erin said with a smirk, placing her gun in its holder and fastening her badge on her belt.

"If you ever need to talk, you can always come to me," Her coworker said, and Voight's words echoed in Erin's mind.

She cleared her throat and turned to face him. "Voight told me about what happened to you and Laura. I'm sorry, I had no idea."

Antonio walked closer and placed a hand on his friend's shoulder. "That is why I'm telling that you can come to me whenever you feel like you want to talk. Or I can give you Laura's phone if you prefer, she is um... aware of the situation."

Erin looked down at the card he was extending her. She took it between her fingers and ran them over the digits written down on it. "Right. Thank you, I appreciate it."

"No problem, Linds," He winked at her, and pulled his hand away from her shoulder. "Just don't shut yourself out, alright?"

Erin nodded and brushed past him, going back to her desk. She heard her phone ring in her pocket, indicating her that she had a text message. She fished it out and read the text.

Leslie Shay: Hey girl! Dawson and I are going out tomorrow night, wanna join us? Girls night out :)

Erin quickly typed out a reply. Sure, would love to. 10 at Molly's?

The reply from Shay was almost immediate. It's on.

"Hey," Severide said as he walked into the kitchen. "Erin? Are you home?"

"Yep!" She answered from the bedroom. "And I'm running late!"

He frowned as he walked to the fridge to take a beer. "Late for what?"

"I'm going out with Leslie and Gabby!" Her voice sounded closer, which meant she had left the bedroom. He heard heels knocking on the floor and shut the fridge door just in time to her enter the room. His jaw could have literally hit the floor if possible. Erin was wearing tight dark blue jeans and a shirt tucked into them, which was left open a bit at the top, leaving just what it needed to Severide's imagination. With that, she wore beige wedge sandals, making her almost the same height as him.

The necklace she wore dipped between her breasts and Severide followed its journey until Erin cleared her throat.

"Um, my eyes are up here," she teased, before grabbing her clutch from the kitchen counter. She checked her phone and her eyes widened upon seeing the time. "I really need to go."

He quickly walked to her, looping an arm around her waist before she could walk away. He turned her around and crashed his lips onto hers, causing her to moan as he pressed his whole body against hers.

Kelly pushed her against the kitchen counter and deepened the kiss, his tongue running over her bottom lip, demanding access, which she granted. He pulled away when he was out of breath, and Erin remained with her eyes closed for some time, trying to regain her breathing.

She was sure her lipstick was smudged, and her hair was a mess, but that kiss had sent chills all the day down to the tip of her toes. She opened her eyes and he smirked at her with that lopsided smile. He bent down and pecked her lips. "Enjoy your night."

The brunette cocked a daring eyebrow at him and ran a hand through her hair. "Oh, I will."

She walked away then, adding an extra sway to her hips, smirking when she heard her boyfriend take a deep breath.

The door shut, and Severide was left smiling, thinking that, maybe he had the old Erin back by his side. He could only hope it would last.

IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ: Alright, originally, this story was supposed to only have two or three more chapters left, but I might want to keep going, partly because I am so upset about Shay's death that I want to make her live just a little bit more in this story, where I think she has an important role, and will continue to have one when Kelly and Erin take their relationship a step forward. What I need to know is if you guys would be interested if I continued this story a little bit more (Like... 10 chapters)? Let me know !
