Author's Note: Okay, I was kind of vague in this one-shot, but Toby and Caleb are like the Batman and Robin of Rosewood in this one :)

Day Fifty-Four: Holding Out for a Hero by Bonnie Tyler

Hanna smacked on her bubblegum as she read her gossip magazines. "This is stupid, Spencer."

Spencer looked up from the booth she was wiping down. "What? The magazine? I already knew that."

Hanna rolled her eyes and sighed. "Not the magazine, smartass. We're pretty twenty-four year old girls and we spend our Friday and Saturday nights here, in this stupid diner, cleaning these tables that are probably older than us. The most action I've gotten in this last month was some old guy who dropped his glasses on the floor and accidentally touched my leg trying to pick them up," she scoffed.

Spencer didn't really reply.

Suddenly, she got this odd feeling about her. She looked over her shoulder, as if to see if someone was staring at her.

Nobody was there. But she couldn't shake that feeling that someone was watching her.

"Are you okay?" Hanna asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I thought I just…heard someone outside," she lied. "Can't wait to get out of here…" she murmured.

Hanna sighed, turning back to the magazine. "I just want a good guy, for once. I don't want another jerk who just likes to get frisky when it's convenient for him," the blonde claimed when she tossed the magazine aside and went back to what she was really supposed to be doing.

Hanna wandered off into the backroom to take inventory, leaving Spencer out in the main dining room as she wiped down more booths.

She jumped when she heard a sharp knocking on the door outside. She was very startled. It was pouring outside and whoever was out there was certainly drenched.

Even though the diner was closed, Spencer knew she couldn't just turn away someone who was stuck in the pouring rain. She opened the door and allowed them in.

"Can I help you?" she asked. "Do you want a towel or something? Anything? I could make you coffee," she offered.

He ran a hand through his drenched hair. "Do you have a phone I could use?"

She nodded, stealing a glance towards the back of the diner. "There's a phone booth back there you can use. There are coins under the phone," she told him.

"Thank you."

Spencer saw him off as she began to refill the sugar containers. Hanna came back out from taking inventory. "Do you know where all of the tomatoes are?" she asked.

Spencer furrowed her eyebrows. "Hanna! We've been working here for like eight months. How do you not know where they keep the produce?"

"Spence, in case you haven't noticed, I'm not very observant."

Spencer nodded. "Yeah, I've noticed."

Hanna looked over her shoulder and noticed the guy in the phone booth. "Who is that?"

Spencer shrugged. "I don't know. He asked to use the phone and he was soaking wet outside. I couldn't just leave him out there. It's not like Halloween where you can put out a bowl and pretend you're not home," she said before continuing to get to work.

"Damn, Spencer…did you get a number?" Hanna inquired.

"What? Hanna…I think you've been whiffing too much of your nail polish lately. I don't even know his name," Spencer rebuffed.

Hanna rolled her eyes. "So what, Spence? Come on. We've been waiting for adventure and someone for forever now. Well some hot guy is here now. This could be like the beginning of one of your stupid romance novels that are really porn in a bound book," she said.

"Hanna!"

The blonde shrugged. "Come on, Spencer. You know I'm right."

Spencer bit her lip as she looked at the man, who was now talking to someone on the phone. She noticed how handsome he now looked.

"It's been a slow week."

Toby nodded as he thought about it. He figured that the weather was keeping criminals out of the streets.

Suddenly, Toby's phone began to go off. "Wait. You shouldn't have spoken so soon. There's an emergency in Philadelphia."

Caleb groaned. He hated having to save people in the city.

Hanna read another gossip magazine as she ate ice cream during her break. Spencer walked over with a new order of the daily papers.

"Hey, Hanna? Want to help me refill the machines outside? You can take all the quarters that get stuck again."

Hanna put the magazine down and looked at Spencer. "Spence, can't you see I'm sort of in the middle of something?"

"Your ice cream can wait."

"It'll melt!"

"But Jamie told me to get you to help me. He said you need to stop eating so much during the break."

Hanna gave her a shocked and insulted look. "Is he calling me fat?"

Spencer looked confused. "What? No. He just said you're eating all his food and you don't make enough money to pay him back."

Hanna rolled her eyes, but took some papers from Spencer. She looked at the front. She recognized the person who made the front page. "Hey, Spencer…do you know this person? His face looks so familiar…"

Spencer looked. Hanna was right. He did look familiar. She knew she had seen him before, and rather recently, but where?

"Oh, my God! Spence! That's the guy you let in here the other night! It's him!" Hanna said as she took another spoonful of ice cream.

Spencer furrowed her eyebrows. "What? No, Hanna. That couldn't possibly be him," she insisted.

"It is! Oh, my God! He's even dreamier than we once imagined! Spencer, he's a superhero! He's saved the city a time or twenty. That's so hot. How could you not have a crush on him?"

Spencer tried to stop the blush from reaching her cheeks. "Hanna, be quiet. We have work to do."

Hanna rolled her eyes. She would come up with a plan to get them together again.

"You cannot be serious! We're twenty years old, you idiots. Do you think that if we had money, we'd be spending our time here? You can look through my purse all you want; all you're going to find is my license and some sad looking five-dollar bills. And maybe a lighter and some phone numbers," Hanna said, only annoying the people who broke into the restaurant even more.

"What do you want from us? If we have anything you want you can take it," Spencer said.

"Well, I guess work got more interesting," Hanna claimed.

Spencer looked back at the door, expecting some dramatic appearance. Not a minute later, someone burst through the door.

The pair planning to rob the diner immediately looked a bit intimidated. Hanna and Spencer backed up against the wall and watched the two heroes who came to save the day handle the robbers.

Hanna suddenly realized how fate must have been kind to her; she didn't even have to do anything to get the guy from the other night to the diner.

"Spence, I'm sure that's him!" she said quietly.

Spencer tried to get a good look, but she couldn't. Before she knew it, they were both gone. The robbers were doubled over and choking for air.

"The Robin was pretty cute," Hanna commented as she went to the phone to call the police.

Spencer hung on for dear life.

To be honest, she couldn't even remember how she got involved in the situation. She was just dropping off some papers for her mother, who worked on the top floor in a tall office building in Philadelphia. Before she knew it, they were shouting "fire", and Spencer found herself cornered in a room. Without thinking, she went to jump and then changed her mind.

Now, if she let go, she would certainly risk serious injury, if not death.

"Where is he when you need him?" she thought aloud.

As those words left her lips, she felt strong arms wrap around her and save her. She was rather relieved; she was about ready to drop.

"It's really you," she said quietly as she looked up at the person who saved her.

He let her stand on the ground. He stood in front of her. "Don't you have other people to save?"

He shook his head. "Everyone else evacuated out of the building. You were the only stubborn one who insisted on finding her own way out," he said.

She looked down sheepishly. "I don't take well to instructions," she confessed.

He nodded. "I can see that."

She sighed. "You've saved my life twice. Can I at least know your name?" she asked.

He shrugged. "I wouldn't say I saved you twice. I'm pretty sure those robbers wouldn't have killed you and your friend."

She gave him her signature look.

He sighed. "Fine. My name is Toby."

"Toby?" she inquired. "My name is Spencer. And thank you for saving me. I admit that I don't like admitting when I need help, but…I'm glad you were there to save me."

They exchanged a small smile amongst themselves. Spencer found herself blushing.

"Thanks for saving me," she said quietly.

AL3110: Let's just pretend that Jenna never existed. Ooh, better yet! Let's pretend Jenna was one of the robbers and Toby and Caleb saved Spencer and Hanna from whichever boyfriend of the week JennaBot had. Kay, so I had to look back on the one-shot to figure it out. Ummm...I like to think they met at a party or something and then they basically started pretty much just sleeping together and then they admitted they kind of like each other but Toby's been kind of flighty and Spencer is headstrong so she won't admit she likes him more than he likes her and the whole thing is sort of a mess. And your present was awesome.

MizzIsTheFizz:I don't really have a favourite movie, kind of like I don't have a favourite song or favourite book. I just like a lot of things and I'm pretty indecisive. And is there anyone who hasn't ever played a video game? I don't really play video games consistently (I have a wii, but I have no idea where it is and I probably haven't played it in months, maybe a year). But there are a few games I like. My favourite when I was younger was Mario Party 6. And now I like playing rock band with my cousin (he convinced me to sing, but up until then, I mostly played guitar, bass, or sometimes drums). And I really liked this one game when I was younger...I think it was called Pickmin? I don't know. Something like that. And Sonic, too. And if it counts, Galaga and Pac-Man. I don't know what to think with this show anymore.

LittleBittyAbby:I don't know! Maybe! I haven't seen that movie in a while. Anyway, thanks for reviewing!

Sarah:Well, I hope you figure it all out. I really liked your writing :) Thank you for the birthday wishes. It was a good birthday and way better than last year. I hope you liked this one!

FabsirellaPrincessOfPopcornia: Thank you for the happy birthday and I'm glad you liked it!

tobyequalshottness:Yeah, my writing tends to be confusing if you don't really think about it. But thanks for reading it anyway!

Sorry for not updating these last few days! I can't even lie and say I was busy because my life is extremely uneventful. Sorry for keeping you guys on the edge.

I am having some problems writing, so I do need some help. The one-shot I'm working on is based off of Chasing Pavements by Adele. Any ideas? I would love some ideas.

The next one-shot will be Girl With the Red Balloon by The Civil Wars. It's by The Civil Wars, so of course, it's amazing, but I really suggest you check it out. It's kind of like a hauntingly beautiful song and I really love it.

Okay, so you know my deal. I like reviews like I like pizza, so I would love some reviews on this chapter, especially if you tell me how I did. -Kayson
