Author's Note: I swear, I really wasn't high when I wrote this.
Day Fifty-Seven: Lucky by Jason Mraz feat. Colbie Caillat
"Spencer?"
Silence.
"Spencer?"
He stopped at the edge of the lake. He saw her sitting there under a weeping willow. There was this small island where they'd always meet in the middle of the lake.
The lake itself only went about chest-deep. The island was about a hundred feet from the nearest edge of the lake.
"Spencer!"
She looked up and smiled at him. "Are you coming over or what?" she asked with a big smile.
He quickly jumped in the water to join her on their little island. As soon as he reached her, he pulled her into a kiss. "I feel like I haven't seen you in forever."
She gave him a small smile. "I saw you last night. It was a great dream," she teased. "And besides that, I keep you with me all the time," she said as she looked down at her necklace. She touched it slightly. It was a locket. She kept a picture of him there. "You make it easier when things get hard." She settled into his arms. "And then I think about how lucky I am. I'm lucky to be home again, with you. And…lucky that I'll be home for good soon," she said.
"I'll wait for you. I promise you, I will," he assured her before giving her a small kiss again.
An hour later, she heard her mother calling her for dinner, even though her mother was so far away. "I have to go. When will I get to see you again?" she asked as she got up from his arms.
"Whenever you come back?" he asked.
She nodded with a sad look. She gave him a kiss. "I wish I could just spend the rest of the night until I have to leave tomorrow kissing you," she disclosed.
He kissed her again. "You have to go."
With one final kiss, they said their final goodbyes before she left.
"Toby?"
Hearing her voice again after so long was like sweet, sweet music to his ears.
Her figure appeared in between the tall trees of the forest surrounding the lake. She was all he saw.
He watched as she stripped down to her bathing suit, which was under her sundress, and swam over to the island with him. He tried hard not to stare.
She jumped into his arms, wet and all, before kissing him all over.
"I'm home forever now!" she claimed excitedly. "I'm able to kiss you whenever I want to and be with you whenever I want to…" she mumbled into his skin.
He smiled. "Waiting for you was definitely worth it. Love like this—"
"—happens once in a lifetime?" she offered.
He nodded. "And I feel lucky to be in love with you. You're like my best friend," he told her.
She smiled before settling into his arms.
"Spencer…Spencer," he said, shaking her gently awake sometime later. She opened her eyes slowly and looked up at the deep, dark blue sky with its hundreds of stars shining. She realized there was a lily in her hair. She pulled it out and raised it to her nose. Its soft, silky petals teased her lips.
He took the flower and put it back in her hair. "You look beautiful."
She smiled. "So do you," she answered.
They were silent for a moment.
"I could stay here all night," she revealed. "With you, I mean."
"I could stay with you the rest of my life," he said quietly.
She wasn't too sure she had heard him correctly. "What?"
"But I've already been so lucky…maybe I better not press my luck."
She stared at him for a moment. "Maybe you should ask. You might just be even luckier."
He smiled at her.
"Maybe I'll even say yes."
IDK I promise I wasn't high on acid when I wrote this. It was like 1 AM and I was picturing some very lovely, placid lake with a weeping willow and grass and pretty flowers and no bees because the little island where all the stuff is is in the middle of the lake. Kind of like you could sleep there and not even care because everything is so peaceful. Like time stands still there. IDK, I kind of always wanted that place to exist near my house when I was little, but...it didn't :( So fanfiction happened :) And then you know, all those references to an island where they'll meet and sailing through the sea.
MizzIsTheFizz: I was big on happy endings during my spring break, but now that I'm back in school with all of these annoying quizzes and tests and other people and teachers and tests and projects and tests and quizzes and other people...they probably won't end so nicely. I used to watch Toddlers in Tiaras (I'm a weird person, okay?), but unless it's on demand, I don't bother. But for some weird reason, my DVR always records "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant", so sometimes I watch that before deleting it, and knowing all of that crap that's really only useful if you become an OB/GYN is actually very helpful when you're learning about Human Sexual Reproduction in bio! You know, except for all the...male parts. Like, there are waaaaay too many. I know most of my own organs but all the guys are just sitting there with blank stares like they have no idea what the heck is going on. I got it from Lord of the Flies, which is really freaking me out, and makes like the fourth book I've read that they've made a few references to on PLL (I know I've read To Kill a Mockingbird, 1984, and I'm halfway through Lolita, The Catcher in the Rye, and Lord of the Flies, which actually makes 5 books. And I'm reading The Great Gatsby over the summer [because I'm reading it in 10th grade and the 2013 movie was amazing]). And I'm actually astounded at some of the things I wrote as a littlun. I'll put them in the big author's note at the bottom.
LittleBittyAbby: I could tell you the science behind sugar crashes, but I'd doubt you'd want to hear that. The only thing worse than a ton of sugar and feeling sick is going through sugar withdrawals. I had a really crazy nutritionist who gave me a diet that consisted of basically no carbohydrates (which she should have known is supposed to make up 45-60% of your food for a day), basically all protein, and next to no fat. It was horrible, more I think about it. She told me I shouldn't have anything in it that has any more than 5 grams of sugar. Do you know how hard it is to find a single item in the supermarket that has less than five grams of sugar? Extremely hard. And she wanted me to eat nuts all the damn time, like in between classes, even though I specifically told her I don't even have time to breathe in between classes and NO WAY are my teachers going to let me eat nuts in class. But yeah, story of my life...my class doesn't like me either! Look at that! We have something in common!
AL3110:IDEK that song, AL. I just...I don't know. I'm sorry. I had a very disturbing dream/dreams last night I need to tell you about. And then you can be a psychologist and tell me what it's all about.
tobyequalshottness: Thank you very much! I really hope you liked this one.
Sarah:Crash Course: Bio is basically the whole reason I didn't get a 0 on any of my bio quizzes or tests this entire year because my teacher does not freaking know how to teach aside from giving us packets with notes and not actually making sure we understand everything. Crash Course: World History is great because it just gives an overview on the whole chapter of stuff I have to learn (The French Revolution is very complicated and not fun, but John Greene and Sherman and Peabody made it much less complicated. And fun. But it's a fallacy that Marie Antoinette said "Let them eat cake." Apparently, there are no viable (vocab word!) accounts that she ever said it. #TheMoreYouKnow And wee is apparently "chiefly Scottish", so I guess Canadians use Scottish and English (I guess also Welsh?) dialect words. That's pretty cool. #TheMoreYouKnow And I'm just American, so yes, I say little. I am boring. Glad you liked it!
So, my cherubs and lovely readers, I am going to tell you about the story I wrote when I was in the fifth grade that may have gotten me into the school I'm in now! So as a lot of you know, I am a singer (and by that, I am not describing the quality of my singing, but rather that I like singing), and it's always been a dream of mine to write an album and record it. I'm actually working on it, as I've started writing songs with my uncle, who is actually a pretty good songwriter (you can look one of his songs up on YouTube: it's called "In the Cali Valley- By Steven J. Cirile").
Tangent aside, I wrote about a girl (I think her name was Crystal, but I don't really remember). She was blonde. She had blue eyes. She sang country (ring any bells? Yes, I used to be obsessed with Taylor Swift. You can stop judging me now). And one day she just became famous, like everyone wanted to read what she wrote. And then people started being mean to her. I think someone like threw a rock and shattered the windows of her tour bus, IDK, but this story is better than I'm making it sound. It was like seven pages long, which is pretty damn long for a fifth grader. And I guess my school liked it. Oh, but there's a happy ending :D I just forget what it is and I don't have the copy in my grandma's house.
Tomorrow/Monday (hopefully; Idk when I'll get a chance to update with all the schiznit the teachers assigned this weekend and I have two family parties this weekend, as well), the song will be How by Maroon 5. I know it bears a faint resemblance to another one-shot on here, but it's not a copy. And I actually think it's a bit different from that story in that things focus a lot on the comparison between Spencer and Toby's mom (oops spoiler) and some other stuff I won't spoil yet.
Oh, and I will also be telling you about that one story I wrote that is the closest to Harry Potter my writing will ever be like.
Oh, and if you want to hear the song I wrote with my uncle, it was on Soundcloud, but I guess he removed it. Oh well.
Until next time, my friends! And I updated SSS in case anyone was interested! -Kayson
