Eddward said his goodbyes to Kevin and sat alone in his hall. He wanted to leave with Kevin but he knew he couldn't; he had work to do. He walked back into his office and put on a pot coffee, he didn't feel like walking all the way to the coffee shop when he could make his own coffee. He was slightly exhausted from his roundabout with Kevin, but he couldn't leave no matter how tiered he was. He had to finish grading his assignments.

What have I got myself into? I am so stupid. I should have never agreed to a student-teacher relationship; even one so intimately. This is not going to end well. I don't want anything to happen to him, but it's too late now. I just don't know.

The gurgling noise of the coffee pot maker brought Eddward back down to Earth. He grabbed his coffee and went back to his desk. He mentally forced himself to sit down and go through all of his students' assignments. He was determined to grade everything.

Six cups of coffees and a few unsightly tests latter, Eddward was finally finished with grading his entire test, and some assignments that he had "missed" grading. He was finished for the day and he was ready to go home. He packed up his laptop and his coffee mug and went to retrieve his coat. He put his coat on and looked out the window; it was dark, to dark. He looked up at the clock, and to his amazement it was 10 P.M. Unbelievable. He couldn't believe how time flew by so fast when he was grading. I don't believe I was sitting there for that long. Time is truly amazing.

He turned off the lights to his hall and locked up. He secured the front door and went home. He walked through the court yard of the campus towards the path he always takes. The wind was picking up and wiping Eddward's small frame around on the sidewalk, making him shiver something terrible. I can't wait to get home this is ludacris. This is the only down fall about fall, the cold dreadful wind. He picked up his pace and practically jogged to the path.

He walked up to the security guard that was guarding the path's entrance and showed him his I.D. "Go right ahead Professor Vincent." The guard said.

"Thank you." Eddward said with a nod. He walked onto the path. The path seemed dimly lit, a few were even out. Eddward hated how the path looked so eerie. He loves walking through the path during the day time, but not the night time. Now that it was fall, and soon to be winter, the sun set sooner. Resulting in the path to be pitch black. Even though the campus security implemented light posts, it was still dark.

Eddward hugged his coat closer to his body and ventured down the path. He had a lot on his mind, but Kevin was the main thing. He didn't know what to do. He started to hate himself; despise himself. He loved Kevin. He couldn't bare a burden on his shoulders that their relationship could possibly get them in trouble. He disposed it.

Live life by each day. Live each day by each hour. Live each hour by each minute. These words rang in Eddward's ears. Before he left home, his father told him these words to keep him encouraged when he was on his own. Before he left he was unsure of himself, and his father knew it. From being constantly bullied in school, he feared that he wouldn't be taken as seriously as he would like in college. But his father changed that with his word of encouragement.

"Everything will be fine son. Just take life by each day..."

And that is what Eddward planned to do. I'll take life slow. There is no reason to be afraid of a teacher and student relationship. It happens all over the continental United States, and most of the times it isn't even discovered. Plus we both are consenting adults, over the legal age of 18. I am worrying for nothing. It all will be okay.

Eddward kept reassuring himself as he walked down the path until he got into his apartment. He practically jumped through the door of his apartment because he was frozen. The temperature has dropped rapidly outside.

Eddward took off his shoes and hung his coat neatly on the rack and ventured into the kitchen. His stomach was protesting against the lack of food by screaming with an abundance of hunger growls. He shuffled through his fridge and decided to eat stir fry. He loved the way vegetables tested when they were heated and mixed with different flavors. He pulled out the necessary ingredients and began to cook. The aroma of food began to illuminate the house making his stomach growl more.

Eddward walked to front room and light the fireplace to help the house warm up quicker. Every day when he leaves him always turns the heat down to save energy. He was very passionate about the environment and wanted to do anything he could to help preserve it. As he walked back to the kitchen his phone started to ring.

"Who could be calling me this late?" Eddward asked himself as he picked up his phone. "Hello this is Professor Vincent speaking."

"Wow, you answer your phone so lamely." Emily said as snickered at him.

"Don't bad mouth my professional attitude when I answer my phone." he said back scornfully at her.

"My bad, my bad. Do forgive me Mr. Vincent."

"I'll consider it." He said jokingly.

"So why didn't you text me back huh? Mr. I'll always be available to my friends." She shot at him.

"I got tied up in my... teachings." He said, passingly. Almost dropping his phone in the pan.

"You stuttered. What happened!?" She screamed into the phone.

"What, what? Nothing happened, and I didn't stutter as you accuse.

"Yes something did happen."

"Nothing happened. I just simply issued a test to my students today and graded their exams. Nothing to exciting."

"You're avoiding the question... something happened with Kevin didn't it!"

"NO!" Eddward answered to quickly, digging his hole for himself.

"You're such a lousy liar." Emily shot at him. Eddward huffed and gave up in defeat.

"Yes something did develop between me and Kevin." He said, "We admitted our feelings towards one another, and decided to pursue a relationship." He said quietly into the receiver.

"Oh my god. I am so happy for you! Why didn't you tell me earlier?" Emily said.

"I was but I got caught with certain attributes of a relationship. I do hope you will understand."

"I do. Oh boy I do. You guys got kicky!" She said. Eddward let out a gasp getting ready to recoil against her. "But hey, what you guys do in the bed is between you two. I'm just so excited for you." She said.

"Thank you Emily, this means so much to me. But please, do not tell anyone." He said.

"Of course not; scout's honor."

"You were never a girl scout, so that implication is null in void." Eddward said.

"Hush you." She snickered. Eddward finished cooking and poured his food on a plate and sat down to eat. "Anyway, it's late. So I'll talk to you later, and you better text me back when I text you, or Kevin is going to be missing you." She said and hung up. That girl is something else.

Eddward sat at the table and ate his food. His phone began to buzz again and he picked it up.

"Hello this is Professor Vincent," Eddward said.

"Oh I forgot to tell you Eddward that I will be out of town for the week and I was wondering if you would keep an eye out on my apartment." Emily asked.

"Of course."

"Thanks, I'll bring a key by for you!" She clicked on him. His phone began to buzz again.

"Yes Emily, what did you forget to tell me this time?" He said into the phone.

"Well I don't know what Emily didn't tell you but I know what I did." Eddward nearly choked on his food.

"Oh dear Kevin, I am so sorry." He said.

"It's okay, I um understand." He said. "Who's Emily?" He asked.

"She is a fellow colleague of mine. We are quite good friends." Eddward said. "How did you get my phone number Kevin?" Eddward asked, unable to recall him giving it to him.

"I looked you up on the teacher information index in the library." He said proudly. "I have my ways."

"I see." Eddward said.

Silence. Awkward silence on the phone. They both sat there, not saying anything to each other. Just listening to each other breath.

"Mr. Barr-"

"Kevin." Kevin said cutting him off.

"Kevin." Eddward corrected. "Is there a real reason why you called me? I am positive that you didn't call me to say nothing on the phone."

"Yes..." Kevin said trailing off. "I'm... I'm... I'm sorry Eddward." Kevin said.

"Excuse me. I am afraid that I am lost Kevin." Eddward said.

"For earlier today. I mean yes, me and you have feelings towards each other, and there is no denying that. We clearly showed one another how we felt. Yes I do want to be with you Eddward, but I don't want anything bad to happen to us. I like you to much for that. No I don't like you, I love you. "Kevin paused collecting his thoughts. "Look I don't know if you are following me because obviously I am not too good with words. I just want the best for you, and I don't think I can give that to you."

Silence

"Kevin listen." Eddward said. "I've already made up my mind about how I want this relationship between me and you to go. I have long decided that I want to be with you, in a relationship. It has been a long time since I have had feelings for another person, and that person is you. I understand your concern, but we have to live life by each day. However, I cannot force you to be in a relationship with me, but I would like us to be in a relationship." Eddward said.

Silence.

"I love you Eddward." Kevin said.

"I love you too." The declarations of their love announced to one another just felt so right. Butterflies flew through Eddward's stomach.

"I wish I could be there with you, but I got class in the morning. I'll talk to you later kay'." Kevin said.

"Of course." Eddward said. They said their goodbyes on the phone and hung up.

Eddward silently finished his dinner listening to the wood crack in the fireplace. He got up and quickly did the dishes and took a shower. He brushed his teeth through the apartment as he checked to make sure all of the windows and doors were locked. He put the fireplace out and crawled into bed. He set his alarm to the appropriate time to get up in the morning and went to sleep.

As Eddward slept, unknowing to him and the guards outside, someone stood outside his bedroom window watching.

Eddward slept restless through the night. Tossing and turning besides his utter enjoyment. He woke up an hour before his clock was supposed to go off. Instead of wasting time lying in bed he got up and headed towards his bathroom. He turned on the shower and stepped in. He let the hot water run over his body to fully awake him. When his muscles started to come alive he quickly, but thoroughly, washed his body and his hair. He stepped out of the shower and wrapped himself in a towel and walked back towards the room.

As he walked into the room he noticed that the curtain to his glass window was slightly open. Un-wanting anyone to see him in this state he walked over and closed the curtain. He went to his closet to pick through clothes to wear. After ten dreadful minutes of standing in the slightly cold room he decided on black slacks and a button up. After he got dressed he even decided to put on a tie and cardigan.

Satisfied with the way he looked we into the kitchen to make him something to eat. To keep things lite he ate a bagel and a glass of orange juice. As he ate he got a strong feeling of loneliness.

His big apartment and all that was in there was him. No one else, just him. "Maybe I should get a cat." he muttered out loud.

Not wanting to be in the apartment anymore he grabbed his coat and computer bag as he walked out of the door. Not caring that it was still dark outside, he didn't want to be in that apartment anymore. He bounded down the stars and onto the path. He nodded to the guard and quickly walked through the path.

Eddward walked so fast that all he could hear was the crunching of the leaves under his feet. He didn't even hear the footsteps coming up behind him. A hand reached out and grabbed Eddward on the shoulder, giving him a heart attack.

"I am so sorry Eddward!" Emily shrieked.

"You nearly gave me a heart attack!" Eddward said holding his chest. "What are you even doing here?"

"I came to drop off my keys. I didn't want to bother you later so I came early; I knew you would be awake." She said.

"That's right." He said remembering their conversation from last night. "Do forgive me." He said taking the keys out of her hand. "Wait... how did you get over here? Only Professors are allowed on this part."

"Oh I know. I was going to wait for you on the other side by the gates of the university. But on my way here I missed my stop on the bus, and we drove right pass. So when I got off on the next stop I remembered you said that you lived on the teachers' side of the campus by the lake. So when I looked I was able to see that lake and a small path that led right to the apartments. It was really creepy at first. The path was all abandoned and stuff." She said. Another path? "Anyway I got to get going so I'm going to go back the way I came so I won't get caught." Emily said and started to walk off. Eddward reached out and grabbed her by her arm. "Eddward?"

"Wait, don't go back that way. Come this way with me. It's much faster." Eddward said lying. The truth behind him not wanting her to venture back the way she came was the fear of the lurker. Anything could happen.

"Are you sure?" She asked.

"I am. Please do accompany me." He said and they both continued to walk down the path.

"What about the guards? When they see me with you what would they think?" She said. "Ohh they'll think you're a player. I see what you're trying to do. Look like a hotshot and all." She playfully elbowed him and chucked.

"Yah that's it I want to look like a player." He said laughing with her. As they walked down the path they both talked about what they've been doing lately. Eddward did all the talking mostly. Emily was intrigued about his and Kevin's relationship and wanted a full report.

"I am so happy for you!" She said and threw her arms around him as they walked out of the path. The security guard eyed Eddward, and Eddward simply nodded at him. Emily noticing the exchanged winked at the guard. "Hotshot." She whispered. Eddward walked her towards the bus stop and waited for her to get on. He hugged her and wished her a good trip back to see her parents. She waved at him and reminded him to watch her place. When the bus pulled off Eddward walked towards his hall.

It was freezing outside and Eddward has never been more thankful for central heat in his hall. He walked in and turned up the heat. For some odd reason the heat was always set to 69 degrees in his hall. He took off his coat and proceeded to make himself a cup of coffee. He grabbed his coffee out of his office and went to sit down at his desk.

Outside he could hear the stirring of the students across the path hurrying to get their daily dose of coffee and head towards their classes. Looking at his lesson plan he decided that he would go over the test with his students and discuss the most common mistakes made on the test, and answer any questions they have. Eddward set up his laptop and opened his email to discover one unread message.

How are Kevin's grades looking?

-Coach

Eddward shook his head. I should have known.

His grades are improving quite well. He scored very high on his test that will raise his grade average tremendously.

-Professor Vincent

Eddward sat and awaited the respond from the Coach that did not take too long.

That's wonderful to hear. Thank you for all the help you are giving him. I and he appreciate it. Will you be attending the football game today?

-Coach

I am not to certain I will. However, I will try my best to attend.

-Professor Vincent

I hope you can make it. See you there.

-Coach

Eddward chuckled to himself. How pursuing the Coach could be. Students started to pile into the classroom, and Eddward rose to his feet to teach. The most common mistake people made was describing the Declaration of Independence. Many of the students got confused on the parts of the Declaration and misinterpreted the concepts of each part; very simple mistakes. The whole class was focused on the breakdown of the document.

Except Eddward was focused on Kevin. He would not see Kevin until tomorrow. He was somewhat sat but relived because he didn't know how to approach him. Eddward shoved the thought to the back of his mind and decided to ignore the situation. As the day prolonged, Eddward got an eccentric feeling of exhaustion.

As the day ended Eddward was beyond exhausted. He couldn't even think of a word to describe his certain state. It was as if all of his energy has been drained out of him.

Many of the students were outside heading towards the big football game. Excited to watch their undefeated team play and cheer them on. Eddward, on the other hand, just wanted to go home and get a good night sleep. He walked into his office to grab his coat and fax over a copy of his revised lesson plan to the Education Hall before he left. He quickly put on his coat and typed in the numbers of the Education's Hall fax machine and sent the fax. Eddward waited for the green light to turn on to notify him that the fax has been delivered. It seems as if the fax was going to take forever. Eddward closed his eyes to grab some sort of energy.

Warm muscular arms wrapped around Eddward alerting him that he was not alone. His eyes opened up wide.

"Hello handsome, how are you?"

"You scared me Kevin." Eddward said relieved that it was him and no one else.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to."

"I forgive you. I am fine, thank you. How about yourself?" Kevin leaned down and kissed Eddward's neck sending shivers down his body.

"I am wonderful, actually excited about the game. Oh are you coming?" Kevin asked. Eddward turned around and looked at Kevin. A sense of worry ran through Kevin as he looked at Eddward's face. Eddward was pale, he's always been pale, but not like this. He had dark circles under his eyes. He looked exhausted. "Are you okay?" Kevin asked touching his face.

"I am fine, no need to worry. Just a little tiered, but yes I am coming to the game." Eddward answered. I want to watch you play.

"Are you sure, you don't have to come. You should go home and get some rest. There will be more games." Kevin said.

"No, no. I am fine. I will be there. I already told the Coach that I would come." He lied.

"Funny thing, the Coach sent me to get you for the game. He said he wanted to make sure you came. So here I am. I volunteered for the task." Kevin winked making Eddward blush.

"How noble of you." Kevin leaned down and kissed Eddward on the forehead. Eddward kissed him back, intensifying the kiss. Kevin pulled him in closer, and deepened the kiss. He wrapped his tongue around his; licking his lip.

"Come on let's go before I lose control." Kevin chuckled.

Kevin and Eddward walked out of the hall together. They walked down the sidewalk towards the football stadium. When they entered the stadium they parted. Eddward was hoping for a goodbye kiss from Kevin but knew he wouldn't get one. Secretive. Eddward walked down towards the front of the stadium where the professors had reserved seats. The Coach immediately spotted Eddward and jogged on over to him.

"I am glad you could make it." The Coach said.

"It seems like I had no choice to be honest. You sent me an escort." Eddward glared.

"I did?" The Coach said playing dumb.

"Anyway I do wish you guys the best." Eddward smiled. The Coach patted Eddward on the back and headed back over to the team, fully dressed and ready to play. Kevin stood out amongst the players. He stood tall and handsome. Eddward blushed and silently thanked the cold. Professors sat around him and he was able to quickly start a conversation with one of the science professors, thankful he could distract himself.

A loud horn blared across the field signifying the beginning of the game.
