Author's Note: Please note that this is AU where Spencer's dad actually acknowledges Spencer's existence, and not even just in times of need and angst!

Day Sixty-Two: All American-Girl by Carrie Underwood

He was excited—no, more than excited—to meet his new child.

"Daddy? Will I get to see my new brother or sister soon?"

As his young daughter asked that, he certainly hoped it was a boy. He had been hoping for a son for the longest time, probably since he got married. Daughters were sweet, but…only a father and son could go on fishing trips, camping trips…there were certain things a father and son could do that were unparalleled to what he could do with his daughter.

He could already see his son being a star and winning every single award. He could see him being a star athlete as Melissa kept going on about something excitedly and held his hand.

He saw the nurse attending to his wife exit the room and come out with a little pink blanket.

It was a girl.

He was a bit disappointed. Later, he and Melissa walked into the room to see his new daughter and Melissa's new little sister.

As soon as he saw the newborn girl, he felt his heart melt a little bit. All those big dreams he had for a son were a distant memory.

"So how is your 'tutoring' going?" Hanna asked as she snapped her pink bubblegum. She made sure to use air quotes around the word "tutoring".

Sixteen year-old Spencer Hastings rolled her eyes. But she couldn't contain her blush.

"She's blushing! Aww, Spence! You're so cute when you blush," Aria commented.

"Are you falling in love with him?" Emily asked.

"Are you using protection?" Alison inquired.

"Ali!" Spencer exclaimed. "We haven't gotten that far."

Alison was surprised. "Why not? He's hot. And he's a senior. And he's the captain of the football team. And he's not an idiot like half of the guys in this school," she reminded her.

"We just…haven't yet. And it's almost summer. He's probably going to some great college next year and I'll be here. Even if I did end up at a college with him, it wouldn't be until the year after next year. And by then…he'll probably be with someone else."

Alison wasn't that convinced. The bell rang.

"Alright, Spence. I have to go fail Home-Ec," Hanna announced.

"You mean we have to go fail Home-Ec. Last time, you lit everything on fire, Hanna!" Emily reminded her.

"Oh, right. Well, we're off to fail."

They walked away. Aria was still there. "I have to go meet the English teacher about my paper. See you later!" she said with that chipper tone. She walked off, too.

"Spence, are you scared?" Alison asked sincerely. She wasn't being sarcastic or mocking at all.

Spencer furrowed her eyebrows. "Scared of what?"

"Giving up your v-card to him? I mean…he could have anyone, but he chose you. No offense, Spence, but you're not really sexy. At all. You're like the girl next door and I guess he really likes that. So why are you scared? He did choose you."

"Alison—"

"You should at least make the most of the rest of the year."

Spencer thought of that as Alison walked away.

He dropped that pass, but he was so entranced by her that he didn't care.

A hit on the shoulder brought him back to reality.

"What are you doing?"

He turned to see Caleb standing there. He was the kicker, so he didn't really play on the field that often, but he was at every practice.

"Spencer?" he inquired. He knew his best friend so well.

"She just looks so pretty," he said.

"Hey, you're practically drooling over her. And she's not even wearing one of those really short cheerleaders' skirts," he commented.

Spencer was laughing as she sat on the bleachers with Aria. Hanna and Alison were taking a break from cheerleading drills to talk to them. Emily was probably at swim practice.

"I think I'm missing practice tomorrow," he said as he finally snapped out of his trance.

Caleb was shocked. "You can't miss any more practices or the coach will have your head on a platter. Besides, didn't you skip last week to take her to see that movie?" he asked. "Have you lost your mind? You're going to give up a full ride to college for Spencer?"

When Caleb put it that way, it made Toby feel really stupid.

But almost as if she could read his thoughts from across the field, she turned to look at him. She smiled at him and he felt himself go weak at the knees.

She stared at their intertwined fingers and smiled. "What do you want?" she asked. Her stomach had hardly grown at all. "You can tell me honestly," she assured him.

He smiled at her. "I think you already know. I want a beautiful baby girl…just like her mother."

"And Mommy watched us all practice and she really, really, really liked it! Are you coming next week, Daddy?" she asked, her deep brown eyes glistening.

"No, of course not, Sweetheart. Do you really think I would miss your ballet recital?"

She smiled. "Mommy said that we could go to Man…Man…that Italian restaurant after!" she told him when she struggled to come up with the name of the place.

"Okay," he replied without hesitation.

"But Daddy? I'm scared of not remembering the dance," she said with a small pout that instantly reminded him of her mother.

He crouched down to her level. "Hey, you know that dance. Mommy and I both know you know that dance by heart. We walked in on you doing it yesterday. And Miss Taylor herself told us you know the dance better than anyone in your class."

Her brown eyes glowed a bit. "Really?"

He nodded. "So just dance and you'll remember it. It's in your heart."

She smiled before shaking her head. "No, Daddy. You're in my heart," she said before giving him a big hug.

This was really just a sweet one-shot and I hope you guys enjoyed it :) The daughter's name is up to your imagination :)

Sarah:Ooh, I must check it out, then. Thanks for telling me. Yes, at this point I'll be waiting for quite some time for Marina or Lana tickets, being as I have no idea when their albums are coming out. Supposedly, Lana's single is coming out this weekend or something, idk.

LittleBittyAbby:I don't think it's really ever too late to start anything, like my singing teacher says. But I think it's way different when you learn later in life than when you learn and you're little. I think learning when you're younger gives you more time to really mature or grow in whatever you're doing. But that's just my opinion. I've never made no-bake cookies...

MizzIsTheFizz:Well, I hope this lived up to your expectations and did Carrie justice! I don't listen to her very much anymore, but she has an amazing voice.

AL3110: Ehrm, AL? Did you read the part where I said it was based off of Chasing Pavements by Adele? No. In fact, Lies isn't even on my playlist for the collection. But yes, thank you for acknowledging my subconscious Marina/Lana quoting. Even if I totally did that on purpose just to see your reaction. Hmm...keep thinking that. But you might be wrong. YES YES YES WE COULD TALK ABOUT CHLOBIRD BECAUSE SHE IS REALLY CUTEEEEEEE like Fetus Chloe is adorable and regular Chloe seems really sweet and she's pretty and Abby is...err, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it. Yeah, let's do it. But I have no split. Oops. Wait, you're a gymnast, right? Whatevs.

tobyequalshottness: Well, that's probably the closest I'll ever get to writing a fanfic about them running away together. I hope you enjoyed it :)

So today was like really hot and I can't eat any bread for about a week. Please pray that I'll make it through the week alive. JK, I'll probably eat bread, but whatever.

Soo...next one-shot is going to be Secondhand by Cassadee Pope. It's a fun song. But I didn't like writing it. Whatevers.

So think of me when you eat that bagel tomorrow. I don't get paid...except in reviews! Please leave me one or two or seven. It's appreciated. -Kayson
