It breaks my heart to say that this is the last Installment to Teacher's Pet. Yes, this is the last chapter of this story. I hope everyone who has read this story enjoyed it. Eddward's eyes fluttered open. He started up at the ceiling his eyes blurry. Where am I...? I don't remember... What happened...? Memories began to flood through his mind. Rebekah... Eddward began to panic and tried to sit up. Soft hands grabbed his wrist. Eddward quickly turned to the side to see Kevin holding him. Eddward relaxed.
"Kevin..." Eddward said his voice scratchy. Kevin smiled and kissed his forehead. "What..." Eddward trailed off.
"Shh it's okay. You're safe." He said rubbing his head. Eddward leaned into Kevin's hand loving the warmth and security it provided.
"What happened?" He asked. Kevin looked at him and held his hand. Kevin sat back on a chair and recalled everything that happened the fast few hours. Eddward's face displayed many emotions from shock to grief. When Kevin finished explaining Eddward lay back in the bed.
"That's how I ended up in the hospital." He asked.
"I'm afraid so." Kevin said rubbing his arm. "You suffered a lot. You lost a lot of blood. I thought I was going to lose you..." Kevin trailed off. Eddward sat up ignoring the pain in his abdomen and chest to stroked Kevin's face.
"I'm not going anywhere." He smiled. Knock knock. A doctor entered the room.
"Well hello Eddward glad to see you're finally awake." Finally... Eddward looked confused. "I know it's a lot to take in. I'm Dr. Kelly. You were brought here five days ago in critical condition. You suffered many wounds. It was touch and go for a while. But you pulled through. "She smiled. "The injury list is long but you had 4 blood transfusions, you have a few broken ribs, and stab wounds on your abdomen. Your vitals are good." She said touching his throat. "You should be thanking this young man here he saved your life. "She smiled at Kevin.
"I owe him my life." Eddward said.
"I'm just glad you are acting normal that sedative you were drugged with took a toll on your body. However, it is completely out of your system. I can release you now to go home if you like." Eddward shook his head eagerly. I don't like hospitals. "Good I'll ready the paper work." Dr. Kelly stayed in the room a little long and explained to Eddward how to care for his injuries and how to take his medication. When Dr. Kelly exited the room the Dean walked in along side Dr. Jones.
"Professor." The Dean spoke. "I heard you were awake. I am glad you are doing okay." Kevin moved oddly releasing Kevin's hand. Eddward looked at Kevin confused. My knight... "Oh you must be the hero." The Dean out stretched his hand towards Kevin shaking it. "I'm aware you know who I am but I don't know who you are."
"I'm Kevin Barr, a student." He answered.
"I see. Thank you for you assistance but it's no longer needed I'm sure Professor Vincent is fine now." He said. It was clear that the Dean wanted Kevin to leave. Kevin stood but Eddward reached out and grabbed Kevin's hand refusing to let go.
"Ah Dean, this is my boyfriend Kevin." Eddward said intertwining their fingers.
"Your boyfriend..." The Dean breathed. "Well I do apologize. I'm sorry but I wasn't aware." Eddward smiled. Kevin leaned down and pecked Eddward on the cheek.
"If you'll excuse me I'm going to get some coffee." Kevin exited winking at Eddward.
"I may say Professor Student and Teacher relationships are not welcomed at the University." He said.
"Then I quit." Eddward said annoyed.
"Excuse me." The Dean said surprised.
"If there is a problem with my relationship with Mr. Barr I assume my prescience at the school is unwanted. I will resign as soon as I recover. You will also be hearing from my attorney." Eddward said coldly. The Dean stood in shock. Dr. Jones chuckled under his breath.
"That is unnecessary Professor Vincent. Your prescience at the school is wanted. You are one of the best Professors we have." The Dean said defeated. Eddward nodded. "If you'll excuse me." The Dean said and excited the room.
"What happened to Rebekah?" Eddward asked Dr. Jones.
"Well she was apprehend. She is now in a holding cell by the police. It is being debated whether or not she should return to the institution or be placed in jail." He said.
"Keep me informed. Make sure the best care is given for her." Eddward said.
"But Eddward-"
"Keep me informed." Eddward said firmly. Dr. Jones nodded and placed his hand on Eddward's shoulder.
"I will keep in touch. Get well soon." Dr. Jones exited the room.
When Kevin reentered the room Eddward stood holding onto the bed. He was dressed in a pair of jogging pants and T-Shirt. Eddward turned and smiled at Kevin.
"Ready to go home." Kevin said.
"Very." Kevin crossed the room and picked up Eddward's bag. Kevin and Eddward walked to the front desk where Eddward could be discharged. Eddward refused to sit in a wheel chair arguing that he needs to stretch his muscles making vein tool his eyes at him. Kevin helped Eddward ease into a taxi. Kevin gave the driver the address to Eddward's home. Eddward and Kevin sat in the back of the taxi silent holding each other's hand.
"Eddward wake up." Kevin nudged Eddward's shoulder waking him. They arrived at the University in from tot Eddward's apartment. Kevin exited the cab first carrying Eddwards bag into his apartment. Kevin returned and helped Eddward out of the fair. They slowly walked up the stairs making Eddward wince a little in pain. When the reached Eddward's door candles and 'Get Well Soon Cards' laid on his doormat.
"From your students." Kevin said.
"How charming" He chuckled. "They just want to pass." Kevin threw his head back and laughed. Kevin and Eddward walked to the bedroom where Kevin gently placed Eddward on the bed.
"Emily cleaned up." Kevin said.
"Where is Emily?" Eddward asked.
"She's at her house. She said she'd be over later to see you." Eddward sat on the edge of the bed not ready to lie down. Kevin crossed the room and sat on the floor by Eddward's feet. Kevin reached up and grabbed Eddward's hand and stroked it.
"I love you so much Eddward."
"I love you too Kevin." Eddward said kissing their hands. "I wonder who won the dance marathon." Edward said bluntly.
"No one. Once the news got out they canceled the dance and sent everyone home. The dance never concluded." Kevin said.
"Is that so." Eddward said standing to his feet. Kevin stood along side Eddward worried.
"You should get into bed it's not good for you to stand so much. Dr.'s orders."
"I have one more thing to do before I rest." Eddward said placing one hand on Kevin's lower back and the other in Kevin's hand. "Mr. Barr may I have this dance." Eddward asked romantically.
"Dance?" Kevin asked confused.
"I told you I'd save you the last dance. Now dance with me." Eddward said laying his head on Kevin's chest.
"But there's no music." Kevin said.
"Let us dance to the sound of hearts and the melody of our love." Kevin leaned his head down and kissed Eddward on the lips. They began to dance in Eddward's bedroom together to the sound of their beating hearts.
