Coming home from Greece, the Seven had planned to fly straight to Camp Half Blood. But Percy changed their plans.
He'd insisted that they make a quick stop at an apartment on the upper east side. So there they were, all seven of them, standing on a rickety fire escape outside a third storey window. Percy opened the window quietly, and jumped into the living room. He could smell cookies baking, and could hear voices in the kitchen, undoubtedly his mom and Paul.
The rest of the Seven jumped in after him, Annabeth in the lead. They were all quiet as mice, about to give Sally the best surprise of her life. Until Frank knocked over a lamp.
There was a loud crash as the light hit the carpeted floor. All conversation stopped in the kitchen, and Paul came running into the room, carrying a steak knife. He regarded the teenagers as though the were monsters disguising themselves with the Mist. He saw Annabeth first, then his eyes zeroed in on Percy.
"Sa-" He started, but was shushed by Annabeth, who then gestured at Percy
"Mom!" He yelled "I'm home!"
