Chapter 6: Homecoming
*Four Years Later*
Four years, four long hard years, and the Covenant were retaliating. Above the planet harvest, UNSC ships fought with ferocity and unbreakable willpower against severe technological advantaged Covenant vessels. Streaks of multiple colored beams and blasts scoring strikes and hits against each other, shields flaring, and explosions racking the deeps of space. Many were lost, many souls gone to the afterlife. Over the last four years, the Covenant mercilessly slaughtered UNSC outer colonies without flinching, only rare few battles the UNSC defeated their alien adversaries.
At this time, the SSA were getting suspicious. The Saiyan Species Alliance first asked why exactly the Outer Colonies were starting to switch out like flash lights one by one, at first the UNSC explained to them the insurrectionist were going all out in cutting communications. But after four years of this 'innie problem', a SSA ship discovered itself in combat alongside some of its UNSC allies over the planet Eridanus II against unknowns. The battle was harsh and devastating, but through a combination use of MAC rounds and experimental Chi Beam weapon technology they scored a minor victory against the alien enemy. But the price was uncountable, tens of thousands of citizens died, along with hundreds of armed human forces and a couple dozen saiyan squads. Even a team of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers and Saiyan Elite Warriors fell in battle.
That last one really caught the SSA's attention; Saiyan Elite Warriors, or SEW for short, were among the most well trained Ki-specialized saiyan soldiers in the SSA-UNSC military partnership. For both them and UNSC ODSTs to fall in battle just METERS apart from each other like a last stand made the SSA snap.
The Saiyan Species Alliance diplomats demanded to know what was going on, and their human allies answered them in a shocking detailed report.
An alien alliance had declared war on Humanity, the UNSC was still trying to piece together information on to why they did so. All they got to work with was a single transmission that declared war like a religious cult and information gained from the battlefield. Their technology far surpassed both Human and Saiyan levels, and they have been attacking colonies left and right, leaving no survivors if the fleets failed. The planets were turned to glass, nothing was left upon a planet's surface.
The SSA surprised the UNSC by quoting, "If these aliens have declared war on Humanity, then by extension they declared war on us! We shall show them the unity of our two species, the bullet of our guns, the power of our Ki, and our unyielding spirit! You saved us from death, and it's time we gladly repay our debt!"
And so, the SSA prepared for war.
LOCATION: Harvest. DATE: 6/13/2530. Military Time: 13:13
Voom! A human vehicle dubbed the Warthog drove over the rough battlescarred terrain of the what used to be a human city. Harvest had been dealt massive blows, nearly half of the planet is all but glass, and the remaining half was all ruins, ash, and arctic snow. Inside the Warthog two green giants and an orange one all covered in titanium alloyed armors sat in both seats and the turret gun.
SPARTANs 303, 23, and HYBRID-311 were these so called 'giants'.
"Roger that sir." Spartan-23 on the turret put her hand down from comm. looking at her other team members she said to them, "Retreat has been confirmed."
Spartan-303 slumped down on the passenger seat. "Oh man, and just when I was going to invite one of the split lips to dinner." He glanced to 23, "How about you Daisy? Care to give me a drink up?"
"Not on your life Ralph." Daisy-23 replied.
The Hybrid driving the Warthog chuckled audibly.
"Hey! I'm sure I can get Daisy out someday, Luvic!" Ralph yelled at his Hybrid teammate.
"Sure you will… " Luvic-311 said.
It is a common misception that Spartans and Hybrids are emotionless, the truth is that they have emotion, they just only show it to other Spartans and Hybrids. They are uncomfortable in speaking to others unless respect is gained, which is quite hard for the non-augmented.
Luvic sensed a sudden disturbance, he sharply turned left just as a explosion of plasma fire came down on them. "Enemy fire!"
Daisy's visor only took a millisecond to spot the covie bastards, the Warthog's turret gun already bombarding the enemy with countless bullet rounds. Rounds that pierced through the flesh of its targets like a knives through paper. With expert driving skills, Luvic guided the vehicle over the ramp made of rubble, the Warthog suspending in mid-air as both Daisy and Ralph fired upon the alien murderers before gravity took back control and the Warthog landed back on the dirt on all four wheels, continuing its path.
All three of the super soldier's glanced toward their HUD radars, finding nearby friendly signatures fast approaching. Luvic parked the military vehicle just behind a large wall of concrete that had broken off from a building long before, the three spotted a group of marines under plasma fire.
"I'll cover the hog while you two aid them." Luvic said.
Spartans Daisy-23 and Ralph-303 leaped off the hog, readying their Shotgun, Assault, and Battle Rifles. Daisy went up the stairs of a building to get high ground, while Ralph crouched below cover and creeped his way alongside the rubble of human creation.
Sounds of gunfire rattled the air, Spartan-23's keen and augmented eyesight pinpointing the weak points of the jackals and hitting them with one round from her Assault Rifle. Never wasting a single bullet nor missing a single target as she brought her foes to their graves. Ralph appeared forth from the midpoint of two marines, barraging the covenant forces with shot burst of Battle Rifle ammo. A shot of green plasma struck the head of a marine, killing him instantly, another hit in the chest killing him as well; the armor of the marines stood little chance against the advanced weaponry.
Some flying alien creatures shot downward at the marines, killing one by a headshot. As another of the aliens nearly killed another, Daisy shot out her shotgun reloading every shell with a pump as she knocked the aliens out of the air. Before switching back over to her assault rifle and attacking the grunts below on the ground, she paused to reload before continuing her assault.
"All right men, let's give our petty officers some backup!" One marine yelled out as he continued firing.
"Yeah!" The rest cheered, gaining courage and hope from the arrival of the two Spartans.
"Grenade!" A marine yelled out, throwing a primed frag toward the midst of the enemy lines.
The explosion echoed through the battlefield. Taking advantage of the smoke from the frag grenade, Ralph charged forward with breakneck speed, arriving in front of a surprised elite before Ralph stabbed the covenant alien's neck with a combat knife, before turning ninety-degrees and firing his rifle killing two grunts. Spartan-303 rolled forward, dodging the swing a plasma sword that threatened to separate his head from his shoulders just moments before. He turned around, slamming his fist to the Elite's face, dazing the opponent. He shot bursts of rounds breaking the shielding of the Elite's armor, then battle rifle sounds pierced through the sky and killed off his foe.
Ralph grasped the handle of the now disabled energy blade, and placed it on his magnetic waist side. He signaled that all enemies were eliminated.
Suddenly, he saw Daisy being tackled down from the building by one of those flying bug aliens, her armor's chi shields flashing out with a green light when she crashed onto the ground. A shot rang from the air, the familiar sound of a Sniper Rifle that was cause by a marine. It killed the alien on top of Daisy in a second.
"And stay down." said marine commented.
Daisy flipped right side up, checking her HUD radar before relaxing with no detected enemies. She took off her helmet after signaling Luvic-311 to head their way.
"How's Gamma four?" a marine asked.
Daisy never turned to face him, but replied. "Gamma four has been evaced." She was mentally thankful they had successfully evac Gamma four, Luvic's Ki abilities really came in handy during that point that saved the entire group.
A com marine said out, "I have the main on the line."
The radio popped on, "Rescue team will be *static* fully disengage *static* Dispatching rescue craft. All active units respond immediately."
"Team Gamma here roger that, we're completely surrounded," Daisy-23 responded.
"Copy that marine, sending coordinates for extraction point. You and your men are on your on to the way there. Wish you luck, over and out." the radio clicked out.
"We'll need some sort of ride to get there." the marine said.
Ralph walked up to them and his friend, "We have our companion heading this way on a Warthog."
*Voom*
The sound of a Warthog came to abrupt stop as it halted before the two spartans and marines. Orange armor and a green visor sat in the driver's seat, facing toward both of the Spartan's direction. The marines stared in awe and were shocked to be in the presence of a full out super soldier team.
"Luvic, did you spot any additional vehicles the way here?" Ralph-303 asked.
The Hybrid looked toward his teammate and replied, "Yeah, two usable Warthogs a couple dozen meters away. But, I also spotted enemy units inbound from that direction."
"Then let's get moving."
LOCATION: Harvest. DATE: 6/13/2530. Military Time: 13:51
"Over there! The extraction point!" A marine sitting on the passenger seat stated out loud.
Three UNSC Warthogs drove down the ruined road, passing by the ruins of a once prosperous human city. They sharply turned right, a bridge in the distance that marked their destination. As they closed in toward the extraction point, the sudden awareness of covenant troops nearby nearly caught the human forces off guard.
The alien scumbags begin to volley bolts of plasma energy at the Warthogs, but the armor plating of the vehicle managed to hold despite taking fire. Marines and Daisy-23 replied kindly with bursts of bullets from gun and turret alike.
The radio frizzed, the voice that gave good relief and bolster the marines' moral spoke loud and clear, "Hey, you okay down there?"
A Dropship 77-Troop Carrier, also known as a Pelican, flew down from the sky and shot forth powerful aerial strikes upon the enemy forces pestering the human, and one Hybrid, forces. Killing one after another as well as throwing up debris and dust from the battlescarred ground.
Luvic turned to Ralph, "Take the wheel," before climbing up to the turret where his Spartan companion Daisy continued to control the hog's turret.
Luvic-032 willed up the Ki energy from within into his open gauntlets, two blue balls of energy forming before he started sending out a barrage of Ki blasts all throughout the front lines of the covenant. Pulling up smoke, severed alien body parts, and weapons; as each individual blast caused a minor explosion.
The marines cheered, "We're going to make it!" one exclaimed.
That all ceased when a bright little sphere reared its ugly head right in front of the incoming human vehicles.
"Oh shi-!"
*BOOM*
Luvic regained his senses, lifting his arms and pushing himself from the ground dirt, flipping the warthog that lay on him easily with his enhanced strength. His eyes darted across his HUD, the shields recharging slowly and the radar picking up his allies, with a few less dots.
His instincts yelled at him, and he responded by rolling forward, narrowly avoiding bolts of plasma as he grasped a fallen Assault Rifle and precisely killed three grunts in a duck row.
The HYBRID's eyes caught sight of the Pelican dropship beginning to land at the extraction point. However it was sustaining heavy fire from the surrounding enemy troops, he looked over to his Spartan comrades who had also recovered, the marines were getting up.
"We have to make way for the Pelican to successfully evac the marines first," He stated to Daisy and Ralph, "I'll keep them occupied."
He didn't even wait for their objections, he turned, rifle in hand and Ki blast in the other as he sprinted forward with great speed. He powered up his Ki to his maximum strength, and grabbed the Ki blast like a baseball, threw it. The Ki blast shot forward before splitting into smaller versions of it that exploded upon impact.
This action pretty much told them that he was a big target, Luvic heard one of the Elite's scream loudly at him.
"Warlock! Die heretic!"
The Elite clad in blue armor slashed at Luvic with a Plasma Energy Sword; Luvic side stepped out of the way, channeling Ki into his arm muscles before slamming his right fist into the Elite's assumed stomach which burst through the shields like paper and tore at the armor beneath.
The Elite opened his four mandibles and screamed in pain, before he grasp on to Luvic's helmet and lifted the Hybrid up then tossed him away a few feet. Luvic's helm slipped off as he landed on the ground.
The Elite roared at him, but suddenly three shot burst from a unmistakable BR55 Battle Rifle silenced the freaky alien genotype with a healthy dose of semi-armor piercing rounds.
"Come on Luvic get over here!" Ralph shouted to him, a Battle Rifle in one hand. They had all made it safely to the Pelican.
"Covering fire!" Daisy yelled, firing her Assault Rifle at the surrounding enemy forces.
Luvic sprinted toward the Pelican, grabbing his fallen helm as he went. Rounds and bolts of ammo and plasma passing overhead and around him as he closed in to his fellow comrades who were ready to take off.
Daisy fell back in shock, Luvic and Ralph noticing this in a split second. For piercing right through her left breastplate, impaling through her, three shards of purple plasma stood clear in view.
Ralph grasped on to her falling body, "Daisy!" He yelled, as he pulled her into the Pelican.
"Daisy! Ralph is she alright?!" Luvic screamed as he just entered the air vehicle. He then turned to the pilot, "Get us out of here."
"Don't have to tell me that!" The pilot replied, his hands already speeding through the controls.
The Pelican rumbled, its electronics and machinery responding like a roaring lion. It lifted into the air, its occupants and Luvic firing upon the enemies below so that the ship would not be overwhelmed by them.
Luvic glanced over to Ralph who was bioforming her wound, Daisy's chi-healing system was already activated in the emergency. But she was losing consciousness.
Something snapped. Something suppressed within, thought to be pushed under by his training. Something caused by his changing from full saiyan, to a hybrid of both human and his original species.
Unsuppressed human emotions.
Marines looked in awe and shock, Ralph starring with surprised eyes behind that concealing helmet. For Luvic had changed, his armor seeming to overload as for the first time in unknowingly the time of the saiyan's home planet; Luvic had a aura of pure white Ki surrounding his form, spiking all around his body as he clenched his fist in anger. His armor overloaded, the shields collapsing and all chi systems within short circuiting.
Luvic walked over the edge of the exposed Pelican sides, raising a hand in lost saiyan instincts before a condensed ball of blue Ki formed in front of his open palm.
"Argh!" Luvic yelled down at the covenant forces, the big ball of blue Ki shooting downward as the UNSC Pelican flew higher and higher away from firing range of the grounded aliens.
The ball of Ki closed in to the island filled with covenant who all began to fire upon the enlarged Ki blasts in a fruitless effort of destroying it. As it impacted the surface ground, the entire island began to shake in a regional earthquake as the Ki energy dug its way into the island before it exploded outward in a bright white explosion of powerful Ki.
Luvic fell backyard, gasping for breath as he lay still on the Pelican floor.
Everyone was speechless, until the Pilot exclaimed, "Where the hell did that explosion come from?! Would've knocked and oblivated us out of the sky if we were any closer!"
After strapping a unhelmed unconscious, but thankfully still alive, Daisy in a seat, Ralph replied. "That was a Ki technique from our Hybrid… " He said looking toward the exhausted companion of his.
"Quite a big bang attack, good thing he's on our side!" a marine commented.
Luvic smiled having heard the marine, "Big Bang Attack indeed… "
