Chapter 8: Harvest Campaign II

LOCATION: Unknown Ruins on Harvest. DATE: 02/04/2531. Military Time: 20:30

"Sergeant, is this what the aliens were after?" The voice of a female, the scientist Anders, said.

The group of marines, along with Forge, stood right behind the curious women. Around them, the ruins were littered with the bodies of the dead Covenant soldiers. Forge and Anders, along with the marines, trekked over a bridge as they approached a strange machine.

The ruins were grand, mysterious, and seem to bring with them a feeling that no one could identify. It was almost as if they were meant to be here.

"Seems so, ma'em. They sure paid a price trying to defend it." Forge commented as they continued to approach an object. "All quiet now." He finished.

The marine said, "The SEWs are at the entrance, standing by." Referring to the Saiyan Elite Warriors.

"Copy that." Forge said as they continued their way over the bridge before he halted them with a military handsign.

Professor Anders kept going, before standing just in front of a strange advanced technological sphere, strange foreign symbols decorating its small hexagon patterned design. The Professor raised her hand over it, cautiously reaching out to touch. But Forge grasped her hand to halt her progress.

"What do you think you're doing?" Forge questioned.

Anders ripped her hand from his grip, "Nothing ventured, nothing gained," she stated as she pressed her hand on the unknown sphere.

The sphere glowed a bright blue, before a complex hologram suddenly burst outward, surrounding the group in a strange map. Solar systems being showed, lines pointing toward different directions, all in great detail.

"That's not what I expected." Anders commented as she studied the lines of color pinpointing toward a specific location. 'Isn't that-?'

"Grah!" A marine shouted in pain as he fell forward, his back having a plasma hole in it.

"Take cover!" Forge shouted as everyone took cover behind the alien architecture. Forge shouted into his communicator, "Spirit to Forge, going to need a little back-up!'"

A marine threw a shotgun at him, which he caught expertly, he loaded the round and came out of cover. Firing directly into a Elite's chest, destroying the chest cavity outright. The marines opened fired with their weapons, more aliens dieing by their hands. But with every Elite, a marine got wounded, or died.

Forge grabbed a marine who got struck by a Type-33 Guided Munitions Launcher, or a Needler. He went below the cover, and hastily pulled out the pink crystal before it could detonate and further the injury greatly. Forge threw it to the side and quickly grasped the biofoam can on his side and spread it over the wound.

"Damn it, where is my back-up?" The captain exclaimed.

*Tink, tink, tink*

*KABOOM!*

Red hot shrapnel exploded outwith along with flame as the fragmentation grenades purpose was served on a warm dish. Bursting outward with a show of smoke as the Elites around were engulfed and struck with the grenades deadly firepower.

"Someone called for some SEWs?" The voice of Turles echoed outward, as him and his group oblivated the remaining Elites with a combination of MA37 Assault Rifles and standard Ki energy blasts. Using their Ki to destroy enemy shielding and the rifles to finish them off.

"We also got your pet project, the Grizzly!"

A few whistles of awe were heard as an Armoured heavily Modified Tank came into few, shooting forth highly powered rounds as enemy reinforcements, spilling guts and blue blood everywhere with each hit. The marines didn't waste a change to climb on its sides to use as vantage points and cover from enemy forces.

"What are we waiting for, let's get out of here!" Forge shouted, "Anders, with me!"

"Yeah, yeah, just don't get me killed!" She shouted at him, grasping his hand and staying close. Her eyes darting around the place as the Covenant came in spades, only to be blown apart by the Grizzly Tank.

The Saiyan Elite Warriors trekked back to the entrance they took, only to find a stray grunt deactivate the light bridge, then destroy the controls on their side.

"That little bitch!" A marine yelled as he picked off the grunt with a nicely aimed headshot from his BR55 Battle Rifle.

"We'll have to find another way around!" Turles said, pointing toward another direction, "I believe I saw another bridge in that direction."

The Grizzly Tank turned its angle before heading off toward the bridge proclaimed by the Turles. When arriving at the bridge, they spotted that it had been deactivated. The UNSC was trapped on another side, caged in like dogs.

Professor Anders left Forge's side, rushing toward a alien console just before the bridge's area. "Give me a few minutes, I can get us through!" She shouted as her fingers went crutching keys.

"You heard the lady, defensive formations, stat!" Forge said as he got behind cover.

The Grizzle turned and got into the firing path between any enemy troops and the female scientist. Like wasps to a flame, Covenant troops came swarming after them, determined in exterminating each and every human and saiyan.

A female marine yanked the back collar of her fellow, the man being pulled back just in time to avoid having some nasty plasma to where the sun don't shine.

"Watch yourself, I kind of need that!" She yelled at him.

"R-right," He sputtered in response as he got behind more effective cover, shooting bursts of rounds over it with his Assault Rifle at enemy troops.

A pair of Hunters, huge aliens wearing heavy armor and made out of strange red worm colonies, appeared before the UNSC troops, their thick armored shields reflection the human weaponry rounds off them. Their large worm conjoined arms aiming deadly green plasma cannons at the soldiers, before they glowed brightly.

"Incoming!" A saiyan said, "Ki barrier, quickly!"

The group of Elite Saiyan Warriors joined together in front of the entire UNSC platoon, their hand reaching outward before red Ki barriers began to form and join together in a shield of energy. They braced themselves as bolts of green plasma shot forth from the Hunter's arm cannons and impacted harshly against the Ki barrier, exploding with great force and sending the saiyan warriors skidding across the ground, their body armor seared from plasma burn.

A few of the human marines picked up their saiyan comrades, dragging them out of the line of fire and behind the safety of the Grizzly Tank. Which finished reloading its newest round and blasted the two Hunters into gut-filled fireworks.

A bright limit emitted from the bridge as it turned back on, solid hard light making a durable construct for the UNSC to cross over. Anders stood up, proud of herself.

"Am I great or what?" She boasted.

The SEW group leader, Turles, looked at her, "Fantastic," he said, "Now let's get out of here!"

"Alright, alright… I get no respect around here." Anders muttered the last sentence under her breath as she rushed from the alien console to the Grizzly Tank, standing between a few marines and Forge as the group started heading towards the exit.

As the UNSC troops trekked forward, plowing and firing through the waves of Covenant troops attempting to murder them outright, they started to take notice of a few key factors.

One, the aliens were not letting go, becoming more and more intense.

And two, their saiyan allies were now too low on Ki to use their special abilities. Relying now on pure human weaponry and combat training, exhausted all the same.

That was the risk with Ki energy. Sure the more you use, the more the saiyan's body adapts to its usage and gives you bigger reserves. But the consequences are that when you run low on Ki, you becoming exhausted as if you've run miles! This dramatically lowers the saiyans' combat ability, and so they are to be used carefully.

Heaven save you if they run out of Ki, they go unconscious at that point. Thankfully saiyans did have a good amount of it, in fact, it's practically a requirement to have a certain amount of Ki energy before being able to leave training.

"Man down, man down!" A marine yelled in anguish as he clutch his friend's arm which bled polusively.

"Damnit, Grizzly's getting hammered! Saiyans are low on Ki, Captain I need some reinforcements here!" Forge shouted through the communicator.

Cutter's voice came through, "Get to the entrance Forge, troops bunkered down there can supply you effective cover fire."

"We're trying!" Anders shouted, ducking as a few plasma bolts flew right over her.

"She's going to blow!" A tank pilot said as he abandoned the Grizzly.

"Shit! Take cover!" Forge yelled.

The humans and saiyans rolled and leapt away from the Grizzly's position as it was engulfed in a ball of fire, pieces of metal and flame detonating outward, killing a marine and two saiyans.

"No!" Turles yelled in sorrow as he saw two of his team members die within the blink of an eye.

Forge yanked Anders hand, "Look, get up the entrance! Go, go, go!"

Turles looked back at him, "Forge! My men and I will stay behind! Keep going, don't stop!"

Forge saluted Turles, knowing he would die, "See you in heaven, soldier."

Turles chuckled as he faced the covenant, "What I'm about to do, will send be blazing into hell. Saiyans! Let them have everything!"

The saiyan warriors yelled battle cries, Turles screaming in rage as they charged forward and started using every drop of Ki they had left to decimate the covenant forces left and right without letting up. Ki blasts and waves shooting outward in blue lights, exploding outward and destroying the enemy troops and surrounding superstructure.

Stray bolts of plasma impacted against his team mates armors who cried out in agony, but continued to fire multiple volleys of Ki blasts at the enemy. Breaking through their shields from the overwhelming explosive power of a half dozen saiyans all at once, spilling guts and obliterating their bodies.

Forge pulled Ander into the safe zone outside the entrance, a Pelican dropping by and picking the two up along with marines. They flew upward just in time to see the entire advanced alien ruin collapsed on to itself in a show of blue Ki and plasma explosions.

Forge said one last thing as they flew away, "Looks like he gave the covenant their christmas presents after all."

But putting those aside, I'm still deciding whether or not to do historical battles, or skip right to the games after Halo Wars. So give me reviews on that, and on the story! If you got any questions, I'll answer them.
