Chapter 5

After I stumbled out of the fireplace, I looked around in wonder. The room I was standing in was bright and open. The walls were a light blue. The carpet was a cream color. There were pictures of fruit and sunsets. The table was big and had eight chairs around it. It looked as if it was made of dark oak. There were two blue chairs with a small rounded table in between them in the corner. The chairs were padded and looked comfortable. The small round table looked as if it was also made of oak. Towards the right side of the room, there was a staircase that had oak banisters and gold tassels coming from the bottom of the banisters that were about three inches long each. The stairs had a slight curve as it led up to the second floor. I was able to see a tad bit of the floor above us from here. I could see that the banister continued down the hallway up there. The light in this room came from a big chandelier hanging in the middle of the room. I assumed this was the dining room. Overall, the dining room was about as big as my living room and dining room at home combined.

Sasha came up behind me and asking in a bright, bubbly voice, "How do you like it?"

I looked back at her and a smile brightened my features. "It is amazing. It has great character, too. Who designed it?"

"Myself. It was darker about five years ago, but then I decided to fix it up a bit. Blaise actually helped a lot. He was born to design, like his mother." She laughed her musical laugh. Blaise heard that and laughed along with her.

"Thanks, Mum. But really, it was mostly you." I was genuinely surprised at how generous he was.

"Well, thank you, honey. But come on. Time for the Grand Tour! Blaise, take Mia's things upstairs to her room, please. Let's go, Mia." She ushered me into one of the many doors, this one right across from the fireplace.

I walked into a large living room, bigger than the dining room. It had chocolate brown couches. There were three of them, and one of them was a sectional. There was a black loveseat lined up against the far wall. It had pops and swirls of light purple and blue all over it. There was a big, once again, oak coffee table in the middle of the room. There was a chocolate brown ottoman near the sectional. The walls were painted white with the types of pops and swirls as the loveseat. There colors on the walls were purple, blue, green, and dark red. There were plenty of pictures hung around the room, whether they were of the family or just beaches and sorts. The carpet was a dark, almost black, blue. There was a small marble table over in the corner with cups covering it. The table was next to a mini refrigerator.

When I walked into the room, I let out an audible gasp. Sasha laughed. "This was Blaise. Every last bit of it. Of course, I had to restrain him from a few things, for fear it would look too much like a game room. The colors are absolutely amazing. I just wish I could say it was all my doing. But it was Blaise, and I am absolutely proud of him for it. He decorates even better than his mother. Now, I am not being selfish or anything, it is just that I have gotten so many compliments on my house and any other houses I decorated. I know I am good at designing, just like you know you are the smartest witch of her age."

Her last comment made me blush. "I know what you mean."

She led me out of that room back to the dining room. Sasha showed me all of the rooms, each of them as beautiful as the previous. When she started to walk to the stairs, I asked eagerly, "Are you going to show me my room now?"

"Yes. You can get settled and then come downstairs when you are ready so I can show you more of the upstairs. There is one room I cannot wait to show you. You are going to love it, I know you will!"

Sasha led me up the stairs. We took a right so that the continued banister was on our side. We were able to look down and see the dining room and look over the stairs to see the banister continuing across the other side. Behind the banister was a door.

"That is Blaise's room. Your room is right here. It is funny. You guys will be able to open your doors and look over the stairs and see each other." She turned and opened the door behind her.

I peeked into my room. I didn't step into the room immediately. I peeked in and saw the room was bare and the walls were white. There was a bed with white sheets and a dresser that was small and in a dusty corner. It was a bit of a disappointment. But Sasha was smiling as if there was something in the room that would surprise me. So I stepped into the room and halted as soon as I saw what was happening.

As soon as I stepped into the room, color flowed throughout the space. Things started to pop up in the perfect places. The carpet turned a light indigo color. The walls turned to be a dark, almost peach, creamy color with a tan as a border for the top and bottom. The bed turned queen sized, and the sheets made out to become a light baby pink decorated with tie-died hearts and smiley faces. The dresser became oak, of course, with eight drawers. A closet appeared in the far wall with two doors. The doors were light blue. Perfume and other accessories appeared along with a bedside table. A mini refrigerator popped up in the corner near the closet. The light appeared from a huge chandelier in the middle of the room. I counted 18 candles. Funny. One for each of my years of age.

I was speechless. Sasha smiled and practically jumped up and down. "Oh, don't you love it? Blaise and I were pondering over what we should decorate your room to look like, when I came up with the idea of letting you do it on your own. Blaise was the one who suggested this. He saw the spell in a book. I had one when I was younger. Mine was very much like yours. Well, except for some of the colors. Pink? I hate it. Sorry, but it's true. I'd much rather purple or blue."

"To be honest with you, pink isn't my favorite either. I like purple and blue too, but I would much rather green, personally." Just as I finished saying that, light green swirls appeared on my walls. I laughed walked further into my room. I felt like jumping onto my bed and seeing if it bounced. But I didn't. I had to act correctly. After all, this is a high up pureblood family.

"Go ahead and unpack. Take however long you need. I will be in the lounge room. Come and get me if you need me. " She started to walk away, and I turned into my room once again. "Oh, and Mia?"

I turned to her. "Hm?"

"Make yourself at home." She smiled and walked away. I sensed the double meaning behind her words. She really did want me to stay. She wanted me to stay at home.

I realized right then and there that home wasn't where you grew up all your life. Home was where the people you love were. And since I exchanged my first words with Sasha, I loved her. I was very much like her. And I loved Blaise. This was where I belonged. There was a witch and wizard here. Back home, there were Muggles. Muggles that I loved dearly, sure, but they weren't a part of my world. I decided what I would do. I would live here, but still visit my parents on daily basis. At least three times each week.

I quickly unpack, excited to tell Sasha about my decision. I was almost finished. I just had to hang up a few things in the closet. I took a quick break on my bed. It was really bouncy and plush. I got up again and sighed. I dragged me trunk over to the closet. When I opened the doors, I found there were clothes in there already. I raised my eyebrows and started to sift through the clothing. Wow. I would probably never wear any of this stuff.

For example, one of the things I saw was a neon green shirt. It would probably go down to mid thigh. It was fitted around the top of the stomach and it had white leggings to go with it. I thought back to when Sasha came to my old house. I hadn't really noticed what Sasha was wearing before, but as I looked back, I remembered she was wearing something very nice.

So I changed into the outfit, looking at myself in the full-size mirror. The shirt hugged my figure perfectly, what with all of my new curves. I grabbed some black flats from the closet, also there when I opened the closet doors. I then quickly hung the rest of my clothes up and ran downstairs. I was really excited to tell Sasha about my decision.

I ran into the lounge room and found Sasha. My mother. I took a deep breath and started my talk.

"Mum? Can talk about something?"

Her smile appeared quickly when I called her 'Mum'. "Why of course, honey. Is everything okay?"

"Yes, of course. Actually it is better than okay. I have decided up in my room that home is where the people you love are, and where you fit in. And as much as I love my Muggle parents, I don't fit in there." I sat down on the love seat. "But I love you and Blaise's already, and I fit in here. So, if it is okay with you, I was wondering if I could stay here. Like, permanently. I would still visit my adoptive parents at least three times a week. And I would still love them. But can I stay?" I asked hopefully.

"Oh, honey, yes. That would be amazing! This is so exciting! Okay, first thing is first. Do you have all of your clothes?" She was on the edge of her chair with exitement. I laughed and told her what I needed that I left at my adoptive parent's house.

We stayed up until ten o'clock at night deciding what we would bring and where we would put it. When Mum saw the clock, she jumped up. "Oh my! I forgot to show you the special room you will love. Come on. I'll show you and then we can retire off to bed." She led me back into the dining room, up the stairs and past the turn of the banister, where my room was. Mum continued straight and then took the second left turn. As soon as we turned left, there was a short hallway. At the end of the short hallway, there were two doors. When Mum opened them, I stepped into my personal Heaven.

There were what had to be thousands of books, all sorted and placed neatly. The library was bigger than Hogwarts'. There were chairs everywhere to sit and really, all of them comfortable looking. Mum left me after explaining how everything was placed. She told me that there were even Muggle books in here.

I picked seven books and sat in the one of the chairs. Soon I was lost in the books that home's was my my Safe Haven.
