A/N: *Shouts into the void* Hellooooo?! Is anyone still there?!

Please accept my profound apologies for the inadvertent hiatus. I had planned to finish the story back in January but I guess real life got in the way. To those of you still waiting for the next chapter, sincerely thank you for hanging on in there. I hope this has been worth the wait. This is the final chapter and I hope to write a short epilogue but I am not sure when I will get time, so don't hold your breath!

Chapter 37 – Mr. December

"He should really be here by now. What's keeping him?" Bella paced up and down, the rhythmic thump of her shoes on the wooden floorboards keeping time with her racing heart. She chewed at her thumbnail, a nervous habit that made its appearance whenever she started to get stressed out. Edward gently pulled her hand away from her mouth and enclosed it safely in both of his.

"Relax, Bella," he smiled. "This place is pretty hard to find. Mr. December's probably just found himself on the scenic route."

"Aren't all routes the 'scenic route'? We're in the middle of nowhere out here," said Bella, trying to calm herself down by soaking up the golden glow of Edward's eyes. They'd rented a log cabin in the woods for the final shoot of the calendar and she was planning to photograph the model reclining naked on a sheepskin rug in front of a roaring fire. Edward had already done a great job of stoking up the flames and the place already had a cosy, wintry feel. There was just one small snag – her model was yet to arrive.

To make matters worse, she was on a deadline. She'd just sent her Mr. November photos of Jasper over to Eclipse magazine when Esme Cullen herself had called Bella directly. Bella felt her chest constricting in panic as she recalled the conversation. "I'm loving your work so far, Bella," Esme had gushed. "I particularly enjoyed the Mr. March photos… But we need to bring your deadline forward. I need to have all photos in by Thursday evening or we'll have to pull the calendar." The deadline was a matter of hours away. Bella had no time to waste.

She pulled out her cell phone to call the modelling agency, and as she did so, it started vibrating in her hand. "Alice, where are you?" asked Bella.

"Sorry Bells, we were a bit late setting off this morning. We, er, slept in." Bella sighed. Her friend was a terrible liar. Alice had been taking things slowly with Jasper. But the Mr. November photo shoot – which saw Jasper posing with only his guitar to protect his modesty - seemed to have unleashed something in Alice and she'd barely been able to keep her hands off her new boyfriend ever since. Bella knew she should be happy for her friend, but she couldn't help feeling a little jealous. She knew she shouldn't – after all, things were going really well with Edward. But they'd both agreed early on not to rush into anything, and she was starting to feel a little… frustrated, to say the least. She loved the fact that Edward was being such a gentleman, but she wanted to take their budding relationship to the next level. The problem was, after her string of disastrous sexploits with the calendar guys, Bella was terrified she would be jinxed if she made the first move herself. "Just let it happen orgasmically," had been Rosalie's advice. "Don't you mean 'organically'?" Bella had asked. "That's what I said," insisted Rose.

Now back to the issue in hand: "Look, how much longer do you think you'll be, Alice?"

"Well… that's the other thing. We're kind of lost… I think Jasper wanted to impress me with his map-reading skills but we've got the Sat-Nav on now."

Bella rolled her eyes at Edward. "Great, that's all we need. Well, hurry up and get yourself un-lost. The model hasn't even got here yet but I'd appreciate it if you could be here when he does."

"Okay, okay! We're on it. See you soon."

Bella hung up the call and ran her hands through her hair in frustration. "I am actually going to kill her," she said. "I knew we should have all travelled together." Edward reached out and pulled her into a consoling hug. She felt comforted by his embrace, as always, but she couldn't relax. There was too much riding on this final shoot.

She felt her phone buzz in her pocket and heard a beep. A text message. With a feeling of mounting dread, she unlocked the screen to read it.

HI BELLA, IT'S SAM (MODEL). I HAVE THE STOMACH FLU SO WON'T BE ABLE TO MAKE THE SHOOT TODAY. SORRY FOR THE SHORT NOTICE.

Bella resisted the urge to hurl her cell phone to the floor. Instead, she let her head droop onto her chest, one word escaping her lips: "Fuck."

"What's wrong?" asked Edward, his voice full of concern. She wordlessly handed him the phone, knowing if she uttered just one more word, she would break down in tears, which had been building like storm clouds all morning. He read the message. "Fuck."

Silence filled the cabin like heavy smoke, the only sound the faint crackle of the log fire. Bella's mind frantically searched for a solution, but all she could think about was how utterly screwed she was. There was no point calling the agency for another model. The cabin was hours away from the city – by the time the agency sourced another available model and sent him out here, Bella would hardly have time to get back to the city to send the shots to Eclipse. She supposed she could drive back to her studio and photograph a different model there. But she would have to think of a whole new creative and she wouldn't have time to get in the right props. It wasn't really an option. She would just have to face it. She was totally fucked.

"Okay, I guess there's nothing for it," said Edward suddenly, breaking the silence. "Don't say I never do anything for you." Before Bella could ask him what he was talking about, he took off his glasses and pulled his t-shirt over his head, dumping it unceremoniously on the floor.

"Edward, w-what are you…?"

"I'm saving your ass, Bella, that's what. Of course, that will involve showing my ass to the whole world…" he grinned. "But I think you're worth it." Bella half-gasped, half-laughed. Was Edward really stripping off to model for her? He kicked off his sneakers and unbuckled his belt, as if in answer to her unspoken question.

"Wait a minute… You're going to be Mr. December?"

Edward raised an eyebrow and tried to suppress a smile. "Bella, you might be surprised to learn that your boyfriend has done a bit of modelling in his time." She felt her heart flutter. It was the first time he'd called himself her 'boyfriend.' She rather liked the sound of that. "Carlisle isn't the only one to fund his way through med school by modelling. We actually signed up at the same agency together. Just do me a favour and promise me you'll never Google my old photos… it's not something I'm proud of."

Bella shook her head in wonder. Edward Cullen, full-time dork and part-time model. Who'd have thought? Yet as she looked at him standing before her in nothing but his underwear, she could totally see it. He was beautiful.

"You're amazing, Edward Cullen," she smiled.

"I know," he shrugged and pulled down his boxer shorts. "Now where do you want me?"

Between my legs, thought Bella with a gulp, trying not to let her eyes wander. "Step right this way…"

oOoOo

Bella was finding it hard to concentrate on the job at hand. Edward Cullen was lying face down on a sheepskin rug in front of a roaring log fire, wearing nothing but a Santa hat. Christmas had definitely come early… and she wouldn't be far behind it. She let her eyes run down the smooth planes of his back, over the curve of his peachy butt and down his long, muscular legs. She could feel her camera shaking in her trembling hands. Focus, Bella! You have to get this shot. She tried to take her mind off Edward's gorgeous body by focusing on his sexy golden eyes. But as her stared longingly at her through her camera lens, she started to feel weak at the knees. This was without a doubt her toughest job to date.

"How am I doing?" he asked, quietly. Bella thought she could sense a nervous tremor in his voice, despite Edward's earlier show of bravado. She swallowed, her mouth dry. "It's perfect," she replied, the words sounding husky with desire. "You're perfect." The corners of Edward's mouth turned up, hinting at the crooked smile she now loved so much, his eyes twinkled mischievously. Bella captured the look on her camera. That's it, she thought. That's the shot. "Got it!"

"We're done already?" asked Edward, as Bella lowered her camera. "Yep," she replied. "I should have just done the whole calendar with you – it would have been a lot quicker and easier. Come on, let's get packed up and get these last shots to Eclipse. I'll call Alice to tell her to turn back." Almost desperate to break the tension that had built up during the shoot, Bella hurriedly started to pack away her equipment. Seeing Edward naked had awoken something inside of her. It felt both glorious and terrifying.

"Not so fast…" said Edward slowly, gazing up at Bella from the rug, his smooth, pale body illuminated by the warm glow of the fire. She turned back to face him, her heart in her throat, fluttering like a butterfly trapped in a net. He lifted his left arm from the floor, twisting his body back slightly so she could see the soft hairs on his stomach, leading down a happy trail to… Edward curled his forefinger and gestured for Bella to join him, raising an eyebrow as if to challenge her. She felt herself melt into a pool of liquid on the floor. Oh my god, this is happening.

Tentatively, Bella stepped towards him, careful not to break the spell. The air felt thick with unspoken desires. She paused, feeling a sudden urge for Edward to see her the way she could see him right now. As she slowly peeled off her clothing, her mind flashed back to her shower performance for Edward at the beach house. She felt the blood rush to her face as she blushed at the memory, and a sharp pang of lust lower down her body. Her and Edward had never spoken of the incident, but as she looked down at him now, his eyes hungrily taking in her nakedness, she knew he was remembering it too.

Wordlessly, Edward reached out to stroke the smooth skin of Bella's leg. Pulling himself up into a sitting position, he let both hands glide up her legs to caress her backside, pulling her forward until his face was level with her sex. Glancing down, she could see Edward's obvious arousal. She exhaled a trembling sigh and threw her head back as he leaned in to kiss the thin strip of her between her legs. Gently at first, he let his tongue explore her, teasing and circling, making Bella cry out for more. Eager to comply, Edward groaned into her and stepped up the pace, grasping her buttocks tightly with both hands. Bella gasped and shuddered as she felt herself climax, waves of intense pleasure coursing through her entire body. She gripped handfuls of his tousled hair to steady herself as the explosion of lust rocked her to her very core. Finally! she thought. It had been worth the fucking wait.

Releasing his hold on her, Edward pulled back and looked up at Bella, his eyes heavy-lidded with longing. "You're very good at that," she panted. "I know," came Edward's response, a sexy smirk on his face. Bella giggled and stroked his hair. Dizzy with love, she sank down to her knees and pulled him in for a deep and sensual kiss. She moaned into his mouth as she tasted her own sweetness on his lips and let her hands run down the hard planes of his body she had been so longing to touch. His body responded in kind, his already impressive erection seeming to throb harder in her hands. She tugged and stroked, her body aching more with each movement, until she could bear it no longer. She needed Edward inside of her, more than she needed air to breathe.

Bella shifted herself on to Edward's lap, wrapping her legs around his back, which was hot from the fire. She eased herself up and guided his length inside her, gasping with pleasure as his hardness slid inside to fill her. Edward simultaneously slipped his tongue into her mouth, almost growling as he did so. As their bodies quickly found the perfect rhythm, Bella felt her body, mind and soul fill with happiness. This felt so right, like they were made for each other, like they belonged. She had found the missing piece of her puzzle. Brushing the hair back from her eyes, she gazed at Edward. She could tell he felt the same.

Eventually, Bella felt herself peaking again. It was a different, deeper sensation, something she had never before experienced with Mike. She felt like she was letting herself go, surrendering her whole being to Edward. Seconds after another shuddering shockwave ran through her, Edward followed. He let out a strangled cry as his body convulsed in her arms. They collapsed onto the rug, bodies still entwined, sated and deliriously happy.

"That was…" panted Edward. "Fucking amazing," finished Bella. They laughed together, their hands still wandering and caressing each other. Edward brushed a stray tendril of hair away from Bella's face. They stared into each other's eyes in silence, communicating more than they could ever hope to do with words. Bella felt euphoric. She couldn't ever remember feeling this way.

Edward suddenly looked alert, like an excited puppy sensing the return home of their owner. "What is it?" asked Bella, starting to panic that he might have heard the arrival of Alice and Jasper. ""Wait right there," he said, leaping to his feet. "Don't move a muscle."

"Edward, what the-?" Bella laughed. He had picked up her camera and was rushing back over to the rug. Before she could stop him, he had taken a couple of photos of her – close-ups of her face, judging by the distance of the camera. Giggling, she tried to bat him away. "Do you want to explain to me what the hell you're doing with my camera?"

"It's for my photo collection. Remember, I was saving a space for you in my book? Happiness? This is the first time I've seen you really, truly happy, Bella Swan. I didn't think it was possible for you to be even more beautiful than you already are, but I guess I was wrong." She looked at Edward's crooked smile and knew it was reflected on her own face.

Edward was right. She was truly, heart-burstingly, honest to god, happy.
