Layla quickly transformed, preparing to attack. "Where's Alex?!" she demanded. Both witches stopped their circling to exchange looks. Then, they doubled over with laughter.
"What's so funny?!" Bloom asked angrily.
"Alex?" Icy gasped between giggles, looking up at the Dragon Fire Fairy. "Oh, you just missed him. He's not here anymore."
"What?!" Bloom gasped. "Then where is he?!"
All the Specialists froze as they heard the doorknob on their dorm room door begin to twist. Slowly, they all turned to face the door as it opened, revealing a very familiar face.
"Hello," Alex smiled innocently, his brown eyes shining in the lights that had just returned moments ago. He looked around at all the surprised faces. "Did I miss anything?"
"ALEX!" Riven gasped. "WHERE THE HECK-?!"
"Hi, Alex," Brandon pushed Riven away, smiling casually.
"The school is in absolute chaos," Alex said as he strolled in, running his hand along the desk. "I go out for a few minutes and next thing I know everything is in ruins!" he laughed, tossing his head back. "What the heck is going on here?"
"The power went out," Sky explained. "And the weapons still aren't working."
"The weapons aren't working?!" Alex gasped. "How is that possible?"
"Suspected foul play," Riven growled at Alex, who stepped back cautiously.
"We don't know yet," Brandon shot a glare at Riven.
"But I bet you know, huh?" it was Riven's turn to push Brandon out of the way, advancing towards the small boy.
"Excuse me?!" Alex's eyebrows furrowed, genuinely offended. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Oh, I think you know, don't you, Alex?" Riven jabbed his finger onto Alex's chest, pushing him back. Alex began to walk backward as Riven still approached menacingly. "The power happens to go out, our weapons happen not to be working, and you just happen to be missing during the entire thing?!"
"Are you saying this is my fault?" Alex gasped, pushed up against the wall. Even in the face of the tall man, Alex straightened his back and glared up at him.
"Riven!" Helia snapped, stepping between the two and surprising everyone. "We have no proof that anyone is even at fault yet," he said, lowering his voice. "All of this may just be an accident. Alex, where did you say you were?"
"Out to lunch," Alex said.
"Right!" Riven scoffed. "And I'm the fairy queen!"
"Riven!" Helia scolded again. "Alex is just a kid, what could he have done wrong?"
"Maybe steal a giant diamond that powers the whole place," a voice said from behind them. Stella stood in the doorway with her arms crossed, accompanied by Flora and Musa.
"S-Stella!" Alex gasped, his face suddenly falling into a worried expression. His acting skills were no help in this situation. "I thought you were in Dévildania!"
"Devil-What-Now?!" Brandon gasped.
"You thought you could just get away?!" Stella hissed. "I trusted you, Alex!"
"You stole something?" Helia slowly turned to the boy.
"What did you steal?" Sky asked softly, staring at Alex with disbelief.
"Nothing!" Alex snapped angrily.
"WHAT DID YOU STEAL?" Riven demanded, lunging for Alex. Alex side-stepped and launched himself forward, grabbing a vase off of the desk and smashing it down onto the side of the table. It shattered, leaving a sharp shard of blue glass in his hand. He pointed it at the others warningly.
"Stella, don't meddle where you don't belong," he hissed, a dark look crossing his face.
"He is evil..." Bradon breathed. "We knew it from the start..."
"I trusted you, Alex," Stella stared at the boy with tears welling in her eyes. "Why are you doing this? What could you possibly hope to gain?"
"I told you not to meddle, Stella," Alex whispered as everyone began to approach him. He stepped backwards, pressed up against the wall, and pointed the shard of vase at them with shaky hands.
"Answer her, Alex," Brandon said quietly.
"You think good and evil have definitive boundaries, don't you?" Alex shook his head. "You think that everything is good for you because you're the good ones. Well, news flash; evil and good can be more mixed than you think." No matter what he said, they still came closer to him, looking ready to attack. Alex raised his chin. "You aren't really going to hurt me, are you?" he asked, his eyes widening with innocence. "I-I'm just a kid..."
Stella hesitated for a second, pausing in her tracks.
It was all the time Alex needed to launch himself out of the window. The glass shattered around him as he went flying -falling- into the air. A flying motorcycle shot out and caught him, and he spun to face the window.
"Idiots!" Alex threw the shard of the vase at them, but they all managed to dodge it. Stella yelped as it drove itself into the wall, missing her head by a few inches. "You have no idea what you're doing! You think you're on the good side?! DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH!" he spun and began to fly away, over the forest.
"We need to go after him, Stellz, now!" Musa said, flapping her wings and hovering in the air. But Stella froze at the window.
"We are on the good side, right?" she whispered.
"Of course, Stella," Brandon put his hand on her shoulder. "Go after him."
"And what about you guys?" Flora asked.
"We have to tell the Headmaster. Timmy is with him right now," Sky said. "Go!"
Stella flinched but flew into the air and out the window, chasing after the boy on the flying motorcycle.
Bloom, Faragonda, Techna, and Layla all stood back to back as Icy and Stormy circled them.
"WHERE IS ALEX?!" Bloom ordered.
"Uh oh, the fairy is getting feisty," Stormy teased.
"Afraid big bad Alex is off doing no good?" Icy asked, stopping to stare down at Bloom. "You really shouldn't jump to conclusions so quickly."
"W-What?" Bloom tried to look unfazed, but the stutter in her voice was a dead giveaway.
"Alex certainly isn't the one you Winx should be worrying about," Stormy studied her nails, bored. "Right now, you should just focus on us."
"And getting out alive!" Icy cackled.
"ALEX, GET BACK HERE!" Musa ordered, the fairies flying as fast as they could to catch up to the flying motorcycle.
Alex looked over his shoulder, his hair whipping viciously around his head. "DON'T GET INVOLVED IN THINGS YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!"
Alex looked back ahead, and then down at his cycle. "Does this darn thing go any faster?" he mumbled, trying to accelerate. His head spun suddenly, and he doubled over, coughing into his hand.
"No, no, NO!" Alex groaned, seeing blood splatter onto his hand. "Not now, not NOW!" he looked over his shoulder and back again, trying to speed up. Blood dripped from the corner of his lips, flowing down his chin and onto his shirt. He hacked again, and blood spattered onto the handlebars of the motorcycle. It swerved, lowering and brushing the tips of the trees.
"What's going on?" Stella asked the others, watching as Alex's motorcycle began to lower and swerve in the air.
"It looks like he's losing control!" Flora cheered.
Stella saw him double over once again, shoulders shaking. "I think something's wrong!"
"Who cares, it's better for us! Come on!" Musa urged, flapping her wings as fast as she could.
Stella looked in between her fairy allies and the boy she was chasing uncertainly. The bike suddenly fell, disappearing into the trees.
"There he goes, come on!" Musa led them down in the trees. Stella watched in horror as the bike skidded across the ground, kicking up dirt and grass. With a great CRASH, it smashed into a three, and sent the poor boy flying into the bushes.
"Give up, Alex!" Musa ordered, landing.
Alex crawled out from the bushes on his hands and knees, and Stella finally noticed what was wrong. He coughed, and blood fell into the grass.
"What...?" she murmured.
"Get a...get away..." Alex hissed, wiping the blood from his chin with his sleeve. "You don't...you..." he doubled over and coughed again, this time into his hand. He curled up into a ball in the dirt, covered in stains of dirt, grass, and a little bit of his own blood.
"You're surrounded, Alex," Musa said calmly. "And now, you're going to be defeat-"
Something slammed into Musa's stomach, and she went flying. She crashed against a tree, grunting and falling onto her rear.
"Musa!" Flora gasped, turning to the attacker. It was a fairly old man, dressed in a nice tuxedo and a scowl.
"You will not hurt Alex," he growled.
Alex groaned from his spot on the ground, slowly looking up. "Sebast...ian..."
