Author's Note: I'm so sad because Ride was removed from my documents :( I was so attached to that one.
And also, if you don't like Toby/Mona, blame Audrey :P Oops, spoiler.
Day One-Hundred Forty-Three: Rumour Has It by Adele
"I'm the one who loves you more," I muttered to myself as I sat up in bed. I looked at him. He was lying so vulnerably beside me.
What I had just said was true. She was a fake. She didn't have real feelings. She had a pretty face. That was it. She had no substance. She wouldn't love him like I could.
"Spencer—"
I pulled away from him as I put on his shirt. I climbed back into bed and straddled him teasingly. "You and I have history. I knew you always had a crush on me in high school," I added before kissing him. "Maybe I don't have as much money or even boobs like she does, but she's never going to understand you like I do." I kissed him again. "Are you sure that you really want her? And her plastic implants?"
He played with the hem of his shirt. He rubbed small circles on my skin. When he was quiet for too long, I groaned and got off of him. "Spence?"
I just sighed dramatically and dropped beside him. I lingered there for a moment before getting up entirely. "You're delusional. She's making a fool out of you. One thing I never thought Toby Cavanaugh would ever allow to happen was someone making a fool out of him. That's not the Toby I know."
Before I could leave him, he grabbed my wrist. "Who's the Toby you knew?"
I stared at his hand around my wrist for a moment. "He's cold and calculating and doesn't let anyone in," I answered slowly. "I guess she melted your ice cold heart. It's too bad, though. I think I liked you better when you were a statue."
He held me there for a minute more. "She wasn't the one who makes my heart melt. You are."
I gulped. I never thought he'd say something like that.
"Come on, Spence," he continued before pulling me closer to him. "Stay."
"Are you dumb? Do you want people to find out about us, Toby?" I asked. My voice was sharp. I was really annoyed.
"I'm sorry that I let it slip."
I sighed. I hated how he could say a simple "I'm sorry" and suddenly all was forgiven. Now there were rumours all over town about how he was seeing someone on the side. I was surprised that the Gossip Queen herself didn't find out about this just yet. She'd be pissed when she did.
"We have to be more careful," I decided finally.
He nodded slightly. "Spencer, I missed you," he told me, changing the subject while pulling me closer to him.
I gulped. Another thing I hated was how he made my once cold heart melt with one touch. He was making a fool out of me and I couldn't stand it.
"But you'll never leave Mona for me," I decided finally.
He sighed.
"You're already cheating on her. I don't understand. She's too…immature for you—"
"Haven't you already heard the rumour that I'm leaving you for her?" he asked.
A sly grin spread across my face. He pulled me closer to him and I kissed him. "Is it just a rumour?"
"No."
"I'm sorry, Spencer. It's probably not true," Alison insisted as she looked through some magazines. "I'm just saying. That's what I heard."
My blood was already simmering.
"People say crazy things all the time. Just because I heard it—"
I couldn't take more of Alison's rambling anymore. I couldn't bear to hear it anymore.
I was in no real condition to be driving, but I went and drove off anyway. I probably crashed almost three times on the drive there. As soon as I walked into his apartment, I found him. Alone.
"Damn you, Toby!"
He had the most confused look on his face.
"You're leaving me for Mona, aren't you?" I asked. "Just tell me the truth."
"Spencer, I—"
"Why would I even try with you?!" I exclaimed. "Everything I ever had with you was based on rumours and lies. I can't do it anymore. Guess what the new rumour is in town?"
He didn't answer.
"Rumour has it, I'm leaving you for someone else. I'm leaving you before you get the chance to hurt me," I announced.
As soon as I left, I knew there was no use in turning back. What was done was done. It was over.
But I was wrong. Even if I had left first, I didn't make anything hurt any less. My tears were still painful and they still stung as they went down my cheeks.
Sarah: I'm good at fanfic writing, but I'm pretty bad at regular writing. I just can't get in the descriptive headspace. Sometimes I'm really good at describing stuff (I think I did pretty well with #81 [Haunted] and #69 [I think it was #69, The Violet Hour]), but usually not. Oh, stop! You don't get hate. Come on. You're a starbucks loving Canadian ginger. Come on. And thank you :) Hope you liked this one. The end was sort of...eh...I liked the rest.
AL3110: Your eyes are pretty :) Sometimes brown eyes are pretty. Mine are just really dark brown. You should google "Chloe Lukasiak" just for no reason except for that she's adorable :) And her little sister Clara (ha ha, Clara!) is really cute, too. My voice is so annoying -_- I hope so! Yeah, okay. Good luck with that. Maybe I should've done that. Maybe I could make #47 (Back to Black by Amy Winehouse) sad for you. Since you're like 1/2 of my readers (lol my sad fanfic life).
I was thinking of posting the prologue to a new story I'm working on. Just to see if there's any interest. Thoughts?
Well, the next one-shot I'll be writing is Kissing You by Taylor Wagner. She's like really cute and idk where she's from...someplace farther down south, I think. I don't know. Some of her songs are really cute. I used this one because I actually know the words. Anyway, she writes her own songs. She's cute, if you're into country-pop. That's pretty much her sound, I think (idk that's my opinion). -Kayson
